[honking]

[truck beeping]

[breathing heavily]

Come on, come on, come on!

- The baby... The baby...
- You'll be fine.

Hey, hey, hey. The baby's fine.

Nothing will happen
to the baby. It's okay.

- It's gonna be fine.
- [honking]

It looks just like you.
So handsome.

So handsome...

[mumbling]

Babe. I need you
to listen to me, okay?

It's gonna be okay.
Listen to me.

No matter what happens...

No matter what happens,
I love you.

I need you to know that.

I love you, okay?

- Now hang on.
- [tires screeching]

[screaming]

[screaming]

[man] Somebody,
get some help!

[indistinct chatter]

Miss, can you hear me?

[indistinct chatter]

[bird chirping]

[Keith] You thought
I was an imposter.

[Jason] No, we didn't.
Sid did.

She just remembers you differently.

I remember her differently,

but I don't see you making her
take a DNA test.

Okay, bud, we shouldn't have
tested you.

It was my fault, and I'm sorry.

But you passed, and it's over.

For you guys, not for Sidney.

You remember that necklace
you made her at camp?

She's worn it every night
since you were taken,

and she touches it, sometimes
without even noticing.

It's her touchstone, baby.
You're her touchstone.

I can't believe you called in
an anonymous tip.

It's him. They found Keith.

Are you gonna tell
your parents?

No. They won't believe me.

Not until there's proof
that the bones are...

That that's all that's
left of him.

If that's Keith, then who is
the psycho living in his room?

[tense music playing]

She's still out there.
The person that took me.

Do you know how that feels?

Constantly looking
over my shoulder...

I just don't like
being doubted.

Not after what
I've been through.

[alarm blaring]

Whoever that is,
when you find them,

I hope their families don't
make them take a DNA test.

Baby!

[alarm blaring]

His name is Miguel Salgado.

He was reported missing
by his employer, Kids Care,

it's a foster care agency.
They directed us
to next of kin.

What do we know
about the brother?

Dr. Pirai Salgado.

Only that he is the patron
saint of global health.

Started a foundation
that set up clinics

that save thousands of people
in Rwanda, Haiti, and Brazil.

My brother and I are
the last of the Mohicans.

Or in our case, the Juma.

He and I are all that is left
of our culture, our language.

Unfortunately,
our experience isn't unique.

Of the 7,000 indigenous languages,

four out of ten
are in danger of disappearing.

Two die out every month.

As foundation interns,
your job is to imagine new ways

to stem this tragic tide.

As for my brother,

most of you know
he has been reported missing.

These fine people are here
to help locate him.

Until they do,
please keep him and them

in your hopes and prayers.

Thank you.

Tell us about Miguel.

You know what he does
for a living.

The stress of his job.

We know that he works
in foster care.

Are you saying that...
that his job has something

- to do with his disappearance?
- Perhaps.

He sometimes testifies
against unfit parents
who could target him.

Well, missing
doesn't mean taken.

Sometimes, people just... go.

Was he running
from something? Was he unhappy?

[phone ringing]

- [Nikki] Hey.
- Hey. Mailman sent a video.

I just texted it to you.

I don't have
the police report yet,

but the car matched
to a city impound.

Get to Kids Care.

See if anyone
can identify that woman.

Okay.

Is it Miguel,
did you find him?

You guys, get to city impound
and check out Miguel's car.

This is a bit... disturbing. Okay.

[clears throat]

[people shouting]

Do you recognize that woman?

I have never seen her before.

Okay, well, Pirai, sit tight.

The answer to the question
is no. He isn't unhappy.

Well, maybe not.
But someone's clearly
unhappy with him.

Blood on the passenger side.

Video footage
of our guy running away
from the scene, right?

You know, I got a call
from Bill Houston today.

- Oh, yeah?
- Apparently, he's not a fan.

Well, I take great joy
in that.

[chuckling]
He's the chief of detectives

and he was calling
about a status update.

Normally that's a Nikki call,

but he thought I would be
more objective.

Oh yeah? Were you?

If you know where to look,

you could find out
anything about a car.

Where it's been, when the doors
have been opened.

People, that's harder to map.

Yeah. Is that a yes or a no?

He's not a fan because
before you went to Afghanistan,

you had more code violations
than anybody in the department.

You didn't follow the rules,
stay in your lane.

- My lane?
- Yeah.

He was hoping this time around,

you could do
a little more of that.

And I'm not gonna lie,
I was hoping the same thing.

You know, maybe not sh**t out
car windows, pull warrants...

I pulled a warrant... once.

I know it's not your style,

but lanes are important.
They provide clarity.

Maybe people are hard
to map in general, but me,

not so much, okay? I say what
I think and I do what I say.

All right, I am
a cartographer's dream.

I didn't violate
any of my own codes,

just Bill Houston's,
you understand?

Hey, Nik.
I pulled the last location

Miguel put in MapFinder.
I think I know where he is.

[indistinct chatter]

Sorry, sir.

Kemi, what's going on?

- Uh...
- What is it?

Uh, nothing.
I got you, I got you.

There he is, over there.

Hey.

Miguel Salgado, right?

Well, I'm Nikki Batista.

- MPU.
- I have nothing to say to you.

Your brother... your brother
is very worried about you,

and we're just here to help.

We're here to help, that's all.

[chuckling]

You can't help.

You don't know that, right?

- No one can.
- Miguel.

- [gasping]
- [people screaming]

Miguel.

Look at me.

You don't have to
do this, okay?

- No, but it's worse if I don't.
- [honking]

Give me your hand,
give me your hand.

- Train!
- Give me your hand!

Give me your hand!

- Tell Shane... I'm sorry.
- Train!

Let me help you, okay?
Give me your...

[honking]

[thudding]

So you just jumped
on the tracks with a train
coming at you?

You think Shane
was the woman in the car?

You just leapt in
after Miguel, huh?

Makes sense why he was
asking for forgiveness.

Our job was to find Miguel,
and we did.

Unfortunately, we couldn't
save him, so...

as far as we're concerned,
the case is closed.

I'm not so sure. I searched
Miguel's office at Kids Care,

and this was in his notes.

This is Shane Weems,
missing two years.

Taken in San Francisco.
SFPD has no leads,

so she is still missing,
and we have a new case.

Okay, so Miguel has
a baby with a missing woman,

then he crashes his car,
then runs. Why?

Kemi, call the ERs,

find out which one
our missing woman is at.

You guys, I think the answer
to this riddle

could be in his files
or his laptop.

Pull a warrant and find out.

Meanwhile, I'm gonna
go see Salgado,

give him the news and find out
why he doesn't recognize

the woman that his brother
had a child with.

- Hey, uh, Kemi.
- Yeah?

At the station, what happened?

Oh, uh...
It was nothing. Yeah.

Didn't look like nothing.

I thought I saw someone
who is dead.

I mean, obviously I didn't.

Why do you say that?
You believe in reincarnation.

Yeah, and karma,
and if this guy's still alive,

then mine is unbearably bad,
and it's not. So he's not.

So, like I said, it was,
um, it was nothing, yeah?

Okay.

Your resume is
very impressive.

The foundation is lucky
to have you.

Oh, no, trust me,
I'm the lucky one.

I mean, what you do...

I don't want to sound
too much like a fangirl,
but I am in awe.

But it is I who is
in awe of you.

I'm honored you decided
to join me in building
a better future.

Would it bother you
if part of the reason I'm here

is to do penance for the way
my family's business

contributes to deforestation?

Not at all.

Given your pedigree,
I find your commitment
even more impressive.

Can I let you in on a secret?

A secret place, actually.

A farm where people live the
life we are supposed to live.

Plant what our people planted.
Sing their songs.

The foundation carries
the message,

but the message is put
into practice at the farm.

That sounds like
an amazing place.

Oh, it is.

What it needs
is amazing people.
People like you.

Whatever I can do.
I'll do anything.

Great. I will arrange to have
someone pick you up
later today.

- Okay.
- Thank you.

Thank you.

Thank you.

Mr. Salgado.

Did you find him?
Is he all right?

No, baby, he's...

He's not all right.

He took his own life.

I'm sorry.

I don't understand.

Of course not. How could you?

But there are questions
that might help get you
to understand.

I wouldn't be asking right now

if I didn't think the answers
might save someone's life.

Someone's, not Miguel's.

The woman from
the car accident,

her name is Shane Weems.

And we think
that she and Miguel
had a child together.

And you said you didn't
recognize her.

Is there anything you want
to add to that?

No, I'm sorry. I had no idea.

Truth is, my brother and I had
a falling out about a year ago.

Until then, we'd been partners
in trying to preserve
our legacy.

Splitting up was tough.

Is there anyone
that you can call?

A friend who can be with you?

What is that?

A symbol of my ancestors.

Miguel and I were the last.

Now I'm alone.

Yes, I have a friend.

You should call him.

I will. Please,
close the door on your way out.

I'd like to be alone.

If you need anything, call me.
I'm available day or night.

You're not going
to believe this.

Miguel, he k*lled himself.

You sound upset.

He was my brother.

He was your problem.

Half of it, anyway.
Shane's the other half.

The police were asking
about her.

Yeah, ambulance picked her up
after the accident,

brought her to county.

I have a new recruit,

and I'm about to put
a package into the system.

If Shane talks before that...

She won't.

She won't talk at all.

So we ex*cuted a warrant
on Miguel's laptop.

So, as I'm going through it,
he logs on.

- Who?
- Miguel.

- Miguel's dead.
- That is correct.

So, this form can only
be accessed and authorized

by someone who has
a Kids Care access code.

was used to place

a one-month-old baby
into foster care.

- Used by who?
- We don't know.

They used a VPN, no IP address.

What information we did get
was on the one-month-old.

So, it looks legit on its face.

Date of birth, place of birth,
biological parents.

But when you dig
a little bit deeper,

it's clear that it's a facade.

The kid's birth parents
don't exist.

And they're not
the only ones who don't.

The 75 kids who were placed
in foster care

through that account, a total
of nine had ghost parents.

What did Kids Care
say about that?

They were just
as surprised as us.

So, what are we thinking?

For profit, black-market
adoption ring? What?

I mean, that's as good
a theory as any.

The foster care system
is constantly placing

unwanted and abused kids.

It's a perfect way
to launder them.

Okay, we don't know where
the children came from,

but we do know the foster homes
that they were placed.

If they were essentially sold,

then we need to do
a DNA swab. Okay?

Figure out if they match any of
the kids who had gone missing.

Okay, you guys get a court
order to swab them.

Kemi, tell C to run
the samples.

I'm sorry, what did you say?

Nothing. Nothing, I got it.

A John Doe has been pulled
from the river.

The M.E. sent it here
for C to ID.

I need to check in
with him about it.

Hey, we have nine
unidentified children.

Whatever didn't happen
at that train station

is clearly weighing on you.

- But I need you to focus.
- I got you.

Hey, how are you?

I'm C. I'm a Virgo.

Modestly superstitious.

A vegan, but with a weakness
for ossobuco.

You and I are gonna be spending
a lot of time together, so,

I hope you like topiary,
because I have been listening

to the most amazing podcast
about this man who turns
boxwoods into baboons.

It's sickening.
[chuckling]

Hi! Come in, we're just getting
to know each other.

You know, small talk,
role play.

Why don't you introduce
yourself?

Introduce myself?

Yeah, I mean,
make them comfortable.

Or him. Or her. That's
the thing, we don't know.

Hmm.

Imagine what that
must be like.

[Nikki] To walk through
the world without anyone
knowing who you are.

We're gonna get in
so much trouble for this.

Us? He's the one
who ditched math.

Yeah, and we ditched
English to follow him.

Look, we know who he isn't,
but who he is, we have no idea.

And all I've done
to protect myself is put
a flimsy lock on my door.

Your parents are cops.

Yeah, but they're also
clueless. Check it.

Isn't that Drew's house?

That's boring.
I'm somehow disappointed.

- I'm gonna zoom in.
- I don't care.

I don't want to see him
getting wasted with his best
friend in Daddy's garage.

- He's not getting wasted.
- Okay, watching TV then?

Sid, this is a bust.

We're gonna get
in trouble for nothing.

It's not nothing.

Is that...

He's got a g*n.
He's stealing a g*n.

Why? Why would he do...
Let's go.

Someone somewhere is grieving.

A mother, father, sibling...

Their child is lost.

We can't give them
what they want,

but if we can identify
who this is,

we can give them
the closure they need.

Hi. I'm Nikki.

[tense music playing]

Excuse me.

Hi, there was a young woman
brought in status post g*nsh*t.

I got her blood work.

- ICU.
- Thank you.

- How's it coming?
- Oof. Slow.

It's no obvious
cause of death,

and not much tissue
to work with for
the facial reconstruction.

You want to take a break?

Why do I feel like this break
is going to double my workload?

Because you have uncanny
instincts?

[chuckling] Okay.

I just sent you an image

I pulled off of SEPTA
security cam.

Okay...

[sighing] Ex-boyfriend?

He's a little old
for my taste.

- Didn't you date Ben Franklin?
- He wasn't old then.

This guy was involved
in a 2005 child abduction,

or at least I think he was,
which is why I need your help.

- Age regression?
- I need to figure out

what he looked like

see if he's a match
for my suspect.

I didn't realize we had
another cold case.

About that...

Can we keep this
between you and me?

My mouth is agape,
but my lips are sealed.

- Thank you.
- Speaking of jaw-dropping,

the DNA swabs that you ordered
for those kids,

these were the results.

- Thank you.
- Uh-huh.

Wait a minute.
This can't be right.

So, the mothers are missing.

So, C entered the DNA
we collected into every
available database.

Nine samples kicked back
nine matches,

but not to the children.

It's to their mothers.

Seven women,
including Shane Weems.

So, county hospital
got back to us,

and they have
a g*nsh*t wound victim

who just got out of surgery,
who matches our Shane Weems.

Mike, Jay, you guys
find out what she knows.

Shane vanished
in San Francisco.

Karen Spellman in Dallas.
Lucinda Wright in Denver.

Elise Sutton in Chicago.
Contact the families.

Find out what
the connection is.
I see a connection here.

None of these kids are older
than two years old.

- So?
- So that means

that all of these women,
they got pregnant after
they disappeared.

Which is awful,
but it probably means

that Shane's not the only one
who's still alive.

Has Rosa given you the tour?

She has. It's...
It's like a utopia.

That's my dream.

I hope seeing it in person
has made you even more excited

about playing your part
in making this a reality.

It certainly has.

I am glad
to hear you say that.

There is one more thing
I would like to show you.

Thanks.

Um... What is this?

Your new accommodations.

[tense music playing]

Hey, Shane.

You know I've been looking
all over for you?

I thought I was gonna have
to sh**t you again,

but turning off your ventilator
is way more civilized.

[groaning]

[beeping]

Oh. I didn't know she was
getting extubated so quickly.

Yeah. Poor thing.

I blame the on-call
anesthesiologist.

They never give
enough pain meds.

Be a dear and just
give him a call for me?

Of course. I'll be right back.

[Jason] Why can't we talk
to this person?

It's not that you can't talk
to Ms. Weems,

it's that she can't
talk to you.
She's intubated.

Can you page Dr. Crane?
Patient in 12 can't
manage her pain.

That's Shane Weems.
It's the damn extubation.

There's been no order
to do that.

Where's room 12?

Hey! Little help in here!
Get a doctor!

Hey, you're gonna
be okay, okay?
Get a doctor.

[choking]

Hey! Hey, police. Hey! Hey!

[tense music playing]

[grunts]

[grunting]

Oh, officer. I need your help.

[grunts]

That's close enough.

I'm only gonna say this once.
Drop the w*apon.

Yeah, I gotta insist,
you go first.

In fact, I'm gonna
count to three.

If your g*n's
not on the ground,
I will sh**t this man!

Then you will be dead
a second after that.

Yeah, and I'll be dead.

We know about
the missing women.

- One...
- We know that they've been

abducted and forced
to have children.

Two...

All right, hey, okay, stop.

That's good, now put it
on the ground.

That's right. Kick it away.

To be clear, you know nothing!

[g*nsh*t]

[screaming]

What the hell did you do?
I had it under control.

You're a cop, okay?
Not a vigilante.

There's rules,
there's lanes, okay?

I thought we had this conversation.

Truth be told,
it was more like a lecture.

You know what? I give up.
You want to try to talk
some sense into him?

I do, and I will,
but about the rules,

one of them is never give up
your firearm to a suspect

- in a hostage situation.
- That was a judgment call.

He was gonna k*ll that officer.

Perhaps, but some rules
don't have exceptions.

Are you really coming down
on me for this? For what I did?

I said that I was going
to talk to Jason...

No, no, forget about him
and his actions.

Let's talk about yours.

- Mine?
- Yeah. The train station.

How you jumped on the tracks,
how you barely got out in time.

I don't know what that has
to do with anything.

We are talking about the rules,
the regulations...

No, no, we're saying things
about the rules
and regulations,

but what we're talking
about is us.

No, we're not.

Yeah, we're not. You're right.

We're talking about
the two of you.

Maybe I should go.
Go where? To Nicole's house?

Because I haven't been there
since Keith got back.

That's what this is about?

Baby... Yes, Jason has been
staying at the house, okay?

We're parents.
He's Keith's father.

You know, you both think that
I should've taken the sh*t.

You know he could've k*lled
that hostage, right?

That if he takes that sh*t,

he does die, but you both think

that I should've taken it
anyway. It's reckless.

It puts people's lives at risk.

That's what this is about,
being reckless.

Jumping off bridges,
off balconies.

Standing in front
of moving trains.

Being proud that you
nearly sh*t a hostage.

You know, you both behave
like you have nothing to lose

because you've lost everything.

- We did lose everything.
- But you got it back!

Okay, I know that you have been
living with this wound, okay?

And it's affected you.
I get it.
But Keith is back. It's over.

You know, you want to review
my behavior, fine.

But you both need
to review yours as well.

About the missing women,

I figured out how
they connect. Salgado.

- Miguel?
- No, the brother.

The patron saint.

Lucinda Wright is a law student
at the University of Chicago.

Salgado was a guest lecturer
at UFC School of Public Health.

Then we have Karen Spellman,

who is an analyst
at the Human Rights Watch.

Salgado, he's a board member
at the Human Rights Watch.

And lastly,
we have Elise Sutton,

who is a Fulbright Scholar.

Salgado sat on the committee
that hands them out.

Wherever one of these
missing women were,

Salgado was sure
to be there too.

That's a connection,
but not an explanation.

I mean, there were plenty
of other women at these places
that he could've taken.

- Why abduct them?
- Because he blames them

for what happened
to his people.

All right, so this is
an article from 1992.
There was a m*ssacre.

The Juma were targeted
by wealthy people who wanted
to exploit the land.

And then three years later,
the last female member
of the tribe d*ed.

So after half
a century of trying,

the corporate genocide
is complete.

These women started going
missing three years ago.

Corporate genocide...

The government carried out
the att*ck on behalf

of various corporate interests,

including lumber,
coffee, and rubber.

These missing women,
they're all heirs

to private fortunes
from companies like lumber...

- Coffee and rubber.
- Yep, yep.

So that's it, revenge.
He hurts the families

who run the companies
that destroyed his.

But what about the kids?
Right, I mean,

revenge is
obviously part of it,
but that's not all of it.

- We gotta find Salgado.
- I don't care about Salgado.

I care about getting
these women back,
and right now,

we have no idea how to do that.

The guy who came after
Shane Weems could've told us.

- Maybe he still can.
- No, he can't. You k*lled him.

Well, that's just
a minor technicality.

I'm sure we can still
get him to talk.

[knocking]

g*nsh*t victim from outside.

Yeah, the one he sh*t.

We need to see him
and his effects, please.

Great. Now the body.

- His eyes, open 'em.
- Uh, no.

This is a bad man, okay?
Who works for
an even worse man,

who we may not be able
to find unless we can
unlock this phone,

which can't happen
unless it recognizes him.

Which also... Never mind.

Hey, you can't do that.

Yeah, I know, I get that
a lot. Mother, may I?

Oh, now you want my
permission. Yeah, go ahead.

[camera clicking]

Great. Now we can talk.
Let's see what he has to say.

[breathing deeply]

Jatemame.

It won't be long, Elise.

Then you'll have
done your part.

And the world will be
a better place.

[breathing deeply]

The guy I sh*t is Allen Miles.
His mother was from Kilgari.

She contracted malaria
ten years ago,

and her life was saved
at one of Salgado's clinics.

Oh, so what, k*lling people

was his way of showing
his appreciation?

Or he was Salgado's enforcer.

Kept everybody in line,
including Salgado's brother.

All right, these are
hand-written letters

from Shane Weems to Miguel
that we found on Miles' phone.

"We need to get out...

We have to do this
for our family...

Our baby deserves a life
outside these walls..."

They were in love.
They tried to escape.

Miles sh**t her
for her trouble,

she starts to bleed out,
needs help,

so Miguel crashes his car
in hopes that the cops come

and evac her
to the emergency room.

This is all really great,
but it doesn't get us
any closer

to finding the other women.

No, but the photos
in the phone do.

Okay, forced labor
on some kind of farm.

Well, they destroyed
his way of life.

Maybe he's using them
to recreate it.

So what the women
were forced to grow,

his followers were more
than happy to sell at
a farmers' market.

A lot of cities have
streets named Morro,

but this particular color
of street sign

and the Gaelic
calligraphy font,

this Morro
is in Tannersville,

which also happens to have a
farmers' market every Thursday,

which, every vendor
has to register

in order to participate,
so naturally,

I pulled every registration.

Only one is a non-profit
with proceeds earmarked

for the Amazon reforestation,
and I have their address.

Yes, I am a badass.

Imagine how much more
amazing you would be

if we had your full attention.

Go, 30 seconds, and then
we're getting our babies back.

Thank you.

I've completed the age regression.

Okay, you realize that
literally everyone can see us.

Literally everyone.
Why don't you say hello?
Because they are looking.

Okay, this being
on the down low, I just,
I'm not good at it, okay?

Clearly.

On the plus side,
I am great at this.

Looks like your guy
had some work done.

Cosmetic surgery?

Yeah, chin augmentation and
a botched scalp reduction.

I compensated for those
in the model, so...
let's see what we think.

Okay. Um...

[ominous music playing]

Are you okay?

You look like
you've seen a ghost.

Because I have.

[tense music playing]

Put the g*ns down!
Put the g*ns down.

That's right.

We're Philly PD,
missing persons.

We're gonna need you
to open that gate.

- You got a warrant?
- Exigent circumstances.

- What's that mean?
- It means we're coming in.

On your knees, on your knees
right now. Both of you.

Hands on top of your head.

We're moving in.
Right behind you.

What the hell does
exigent mean?

Technically, it means
there's a crime being committed

that justifies
a warrantless search,

but I like what you said.

[breathing heavily]

[speaking in another language]

You need to step away.

- [gasping]
- The child is almost here.

I said step back.

I can't. Not from a miracle.

I'm not asking again.

- [Elise screaming]
- You won't have to.

[screaming]

[baby crying]

Do not go gentle
into that good light.

Old age should burn
and rave at close of day.

Rage, rage against
the dying light.

It's the light
in a world gone dark.

Go!

Go on, we'll stay here.

[suspenseful music playing]

Give her the child.
The baby, give her the baby.

The others. Where are they?

Where are the other women?

[footsteps approaching]

Oh, my God. Oh, God.

It's okay. It's okay.

You are safe.

You're going home.
You're going home. Okay?

Come here. Come here.

[suspenseful music playing]

[Jason grunting]

Hey, Jay!

Are you all right?

Jay!

I need you to put
that Kn*fe down.

I need you to put
the Kn*fe down.

You know what
their families did.

You wouldn't be here
if you didn't.

We can talk about it as soon
as you let him go, okay?

Don't!

I can't let you walk away,
you know that.

No lane, okay? Forget
the lane, screw the lane.

They b*rned the forest.
sh*t and k*lled men,
women, and children.

Hey, do what you gotta do.

You know what you need to do,
right? Just do it.

Yeah, I do.

Hey, look.

I'm putting it away.

- They committed genocide!
- And you did the opposite.

The amount of people

that you saved from ringworm,
dehydration, diabetes.

He's great,
he's a real humanitarian.

Just take out your g*n, Mike,
take out your g*n.

None of that matters.
None of that matters.

Hey, you are not a k*ller.

You had Allen Miles
do that for you.

- I'll do it.
- Tonight, I saw you.

You know, what that meant
to you. That baby.

What it meant to bring life
into the world.

I swear to God, one more step.

Life, not death.

Okay, put the Kn*fe down. Easy.

Easy, slow, slow.
Good. Take it.

Knees on the ground.
Hands behind your back.

You have the right
to remain silent.

Anything you say
can and will be used...

[Nikki] Tell me about
the children.

- The children are my legacy.
- Mm-hmm.

You were the father,
and you kidnapped the daughters

of the families
who destroyed your tribe

and then you used them
to bring your tribe back.

And when the time comes,

I have arranged for them
to learn who they are,

where they come from. Nothing
you can do will change that.

Let's talk about
what I can do, all right?

Which is charge you with r*pe.

I never touched those women.

Everything
was done through IVF.

Like I said,
the charges are r*pe,

kidnapping,
conspiracy to m*rder.

I deserve whatever I get,

but not because
of what you think I did.

Because of what I didn't do.

What didn't you do?

I hated it as a boy.

It was so backwards.

So I left.

And you grew up there, right?
With the Juma.

I walked away.

I had more important
things to do.

So I did them.

What I didn't do
is save my family.

How's your neck?

Clean shaven.
How's your conscience?

He'll be tried for his crimes.

The women he hurt will get
to see him punished.

- My conscience is clear.
- No, that's not what I meant.

I know that's not
what you meant.

- I mean, he could've k*lled me.
- Yeah, but he didn't.

- You put away your g*n again.
- I went on his website.

I checked out his foundation,
I did my homework.

- You should try it.
- Is that just a fancy way

of saying that you stayed
in your lane?

Which was
the right thing to do.

You want to know how I know
it was the right thing to do?

- Mmm.
- 'Cause you're alive

to bitch to me about it,
so, you know, you're welcome.

Hey. Thank you, brother.

Thank you.

[door closing]

[soft music playing]

Hey.

[knocking on door]

Hey.

This case will fill up
your entire wall.

Seven women get reunited
with their nine children.

- I'd say it was a good day.
- Yes.

But it could've been better.

Okay, if this is about
my behavior, Nikki...

No, not yours . Or Jason's.

Even though he behaved badly.

It's mine. It's about...
jumping off bridges,
in front of trains.

- And balconies.
- And yes, balconies.

- Fourth floor balconies.
- Right.

Into a little, tiny pool.
You're not making it easy

- to apologize.
- Hey, hey.

Okay.

Apology accepted.

It's true. I can be reckless.

And yes, it started
when Keith went missing,

and now he's back,
and it should stop, right?

And yes, I know that
you accepted my apology,

but I'm not just here
to apologize,

I am here because I need help

learning how not
to be reckless.

Hey, Sid's here.

Jay, we are in the middle
of something.

I'm sorry, I'm sorry,
but she's in your office,
she needs to speak to you.

She won't speak to me unless
you come down. I'm sorry.

Okay.

- Sorry, Mike.
- Yeah.

- Baby girl, what's up?
- I'm not going home.

- Why?
- Or I'll just stay at Dad's,

or I'll get a motel, or I'll
stay here, for all I care.

Hey, relax. Everything's fine,
just tell us what's going on,

- and we'll figure it out.
- He has a g*n.

- Who has a g*n?
- He has a g*n!

- And I'm not going home.
- You saw Keith with a g*n?

Yes, I saw him steal it.

So, as long as he has it,
I'm not going home.

[vehicle approaching]

He's alive.

I'm afraid you'll have
to be more specific.

Isaiah Danzomo.

The man who kidnapped me
in Lagos, demanded a ransom,

which you refused to pay.

You told me that he was k*lled
in a police raid.

Why did you tell me
that he was dead?

All these years,
why lie to your own daughter?

Because no good would come
from you knowing he's alive!

Now, please, for both
of our sakes, drop it.

[door opens and closes]

Keith?

Baby!

He's not upstairs.

Buddy, what are you
doing down here?

Um, nothing.

Why aren't you in your room?

What do you mean, nothing?

I like it here.

It's familiar.

Sidney said you had a g*n.

I did. Not that it's
any of her business.

Well, it's ours.

You can't have a g*n, Keith.

You certainly can't steal one.

I didn't...
Is that what she said?

I didn't steal a g*n.

I... I got it from Drew.

He said I could borrow it.

It's a pellet g*n.

Drew uses it to plink cans
in his backyard.

I thought it looked
real enough.

Real enough for what?

To scare off the person
that took me.

Oh, honey.

Hey. We'll protect you.

Sidney thought I stole a g*n?

She still doesn't believe me.

[Nikki] She will.

She just needs time. Hmm.

Let's go upstairs,
you guys. Come on.

Come on. Come on.

Uh, you go.
I'll come up later.

We can stay, if you like.

On your way up, would you
mind turning off the light?

Come on.

[soft music playing]

Sid. I didn't know
you were here.

Sorry. I'm just waiting
for my mom.

No worries. He and I are happy
to have some company.

He?

You know it's a boy?

I do. Uh... Between 10 and 14.

I'm getting to know a lot
about him, actually.

I don't know his name yet,
but I will.

You should tell him yours.

Hey. I'm Sidney.

It's nice to see you.

Little bro.
