[laughing]

Whoo-hoo!

[engine chugging slows]

Everyone who's ever met Diesel

the diesel shunter

knows that he's not very easy

to get along with.

But what would we all do

without him?

I wonder.

[whistle toots]

All aboard for a big adventure!

"Diesel Glows Away."Diesel was in a bumpy mood.

[mischievous laughing]

Oh!

Diesel!

-[laughing]

-You give diesels a bad name!

[Thomas]

But then, Diesel'salways in a bumpy mood.

[clanging]

Ow!

Diesel, that wasn't very nice.

Huh.

I sometimes wonder, Nia,

if it might be easier to be

useful if Diesel wasn't around.

Oh!

[horn honking]

[coughs]

Ow!

Think they'd be more useful

without me, do they?

Oh!

I'll show them.

Let's see how they get on all

day without me helping them.

[mischievous laughing]

Once they realize

how useful I am,

they'll all come looking

for their old friend Diesel.

[wheezing]

How long has Diesel

been missing?

[sobbing]

It can't be only a day.

[sniffles]

I miss him so much.

He's the most fun

of all the engines

on the railway.

And so useful!

Uh, sorry to interrupt,

but what's that huge cake

doing there?

-[booming]

-Surprise!

[laughing]

[all cheering]

[all] We love you, Diesel!

-[clanging]

-Huh?

Oh, they must be

missing me already.

You found me!

[laughter trailing off]

Well, where is everybody,

and why aren't they

looking for me?

[thudding]

[gasps]

Glow-in-the-dark paint?

[exclaims]

I know a way to make

the other engines

come looking for me.

[mischievous laugh]

[owl hooting]

[snoring]

[making ghost sounds]

[snoring]

-Paxton!

-Wha... wha?

I said,

[making ghost sounds]

You must be so tired

doing all those extra jobs

I usually do.

You miss me so much,

now you're even

dreaming about me.

[snickering]

[snoring]

[spooky voice]

It's me, Diesel.

You must be missing me, Nia.

Otherwise, why would you

be having this dream?

Dream?

[normal voice]

Yes, dream.

[gasps]

[spooky voice] I'm hiding.

Come and find me.

[snickering]

Diesel, you're glowing.

What's going on?

It's a dream.

It's just a dream.

[muttering]

Whoo!

[yawning]

Uh, has anybody

seen Diesel today?

[horn honking]

I'm tired of doing

all his jobs

as well as my own.

I think I saw him

last night, Paxton.

He said he was hiding,

and he wants us to find him.

There's only one place

to find a diesel:

at the diesel works.

[gasps]

Paxton, look!

He must be hiding in there.

[both] Found you!

It's time to do

your own jobs, Diesel.

He's not here.

Wait a minute...

What's all this

glow-in-the-dark paint?

So that's how he made himself

look like that.

[Thomas]

But Diesel was hidingat the Blue Mountain Quarry, waiting to be found.

Oh, isn't anyone

going to come and find me?

Yeah, I really thought

he'd be at the diesel works.

Look, a trail!

[gasps]

It's a clue.

Whoa, where did it go?

We can't see the paint

in the daylight.

We'll have to wait until

after dark to follow the trail.

[snoring]

[owl hooting]

[both] Psst.

-Oh! Hello, you two.

-[Paxton] Hi, Owen.

Can you see a trail

of glowing paint anywhere?

Yes, Paxton, I can,

and it's leading

to that tunnel over there.

-A-ha!

-Thanks, Owen!

Hang on a moment, Paxton.

I've got an idea.

Why isn't anyone

coming to find me?

-[ghostly sounds]

-Wait...

Who's there?

[both]

Whoo!

Ahh!

It's not fair to hide away

like this, Diesel.

Your friends had to do all

your jobs for two whole days.

I'm sorry!

I promise to be really useful

and do my jobs!

In fact,

I'll do everyone's jobs!

Just leave me alone!

[both]

Think of your friends...

Think of your friends...

[whimpering]

See?

I am useful.

Really, really useful.

I'm doing so many jobs.

Keeping busy, helping out.

Very, very useful.

What exactly did you say

to Diesel

to make him do all your jobs?

[both in spooky voice]

Who knows?

[laughing]

Very, very useful.

Wait a minute...

That was Nia and Paxton

in the tunnel.

[groans]

They tricked me.

And they think I give engines

a bad name.

[whistle toots]

Have you ever heard

the saying,

"Be careful what you wish for?"

Sometimes you get

what you want,

but not quite the way expect.

I remember whenI really, reallywanted a new coat of paint,so I could competein The Great Railway Show. And I did get repainted, just notin the way I imagined.Diesel wantedthe other engines to miss him,and come looking for him.But when they did, they weren't happy to see him, they were cross!

So just remember,

sometimes when you try

to make something happen,

it might not happen

-the way you want it to.

-[whistle blows]

Come on, Thomas!

It's time to go.

See you next time!
