02x27 - Buttercup Amber

Post by bunniefuu »

SOFIA: I was a girl
in the village, doing all right

Then I became a princess overnight

Now I gotta figure out
how to do it right

So much to learn and see

Up in the castle with my new family

In a school that's just for royalty

A whole enchanted world
is waiting for me

I'm so excited to be

CHORUS: Sofia the First

SOFIA: I'm finding out
what being royal's all about

CHORUS: Sofia the First

SOFIA: Making my way
it's an adventure every day

CHORUS: Sofia
SOFIA: It's gonna be my time

CHORUS: Sofia

SOFIA: To show them all that I'm

ALL: Sofia the First

[SOFIA READING]

[GASPS] I saw a sh**ting star.

Let me see. Let me see.

Actually, sh**ting stars
are not really stars. They're meteors.

Wow. You've become quite
the expert in astronomy, Amber.

-I'm really proud of you.
-Thanks, Daddy.

Okay, stargazers, time for bed.

Just a few more minutes. [SIGHS]

I wish I could stare up
at the stars all night.

That reminds me.
When I was a boy, we used star stones

to turn the ceiling of my bedroom
into a planetarium.

-That sounds amazing.
-What are star stones, Dad?

They're little
star-shaped stones that glow.

They can only be found
on Swamp Rock Hill.

My Buttercup troop
is going on an overnight hike

to Swamp Rock Hill next week.

Oh, that's perfect.
You can bring some back for me.

Maybe you can go on the hike
with the Buttercups.

That's a great idea.
New Buttercups are always welcome.

Me, hike? No, thanks.
I'm more of an indoor princess.

But, Amber, it'll be fun.

Mmm. Trudging through the wilderness
is not my idea of fun.

Oh, Amber, you've been
spending too much time

cooped up in the castle,
decorating parasols,

and... and hosting tea parties.

I'm a princess. It's what we do.

We also fly magic carpets
and rescue princes. Remember?

Remember? I'm getting tired
just thinking about it.

Amber, how do you know hiking
won't be fun unless you try it?

You can sing songs
around the campfire with the troop.

Roast marshmallows.

Imagine lying in bed and looking up
at a ceiling full of stars.

[SIGHS] Well, if that's the only way
I'll get the star stones,

I'll go on your little hike.

Great. And just you wait, Amber.

I'm going to make
an outdoor princess out of you.

MRS. HANSHAW: Sleeping bags.
GIRLS: Check.

-Canteens.
-Check.

-Trouble whistles.
-[ALL BLOWING WHISTLES]

Time to hit the trail, Buttercups.

PRINCESS AMBER: I'm ready.

Uh, I thought Mom told you
to dress for the outdoors.

I did. See the leaves and flowers?

Oh, Princess Amber.
We're so glad you're coming along.

But the wilderness can be a bit rough
on fancy gowns and shoes.

How about a snappy new
Buttercup uniform instead?

Oh, no, I couldn't.

All new Buttercups get one.

But I'm not a Buttercup.

I'm just coming along
for the star stones.

Well, suit yourself,
but it's a long trip.

Oh, don't worry.
I've got everything I need.

Violet, Suzette.

[BOTH GRUNTING]

MRS. HANSHAW: Princess, I'm afraid

there are no servants
allowed on this hike.

And you can only bring
what you can carry.

But don't worry.

I've already packed it
with everything you'll need.

What is this stuff?

Camping gear.
This is an overnight trip.

Oh, right. Well, I'll just
add a few essentials.

Perfume?

Just because the wilderness smells bad
doesn't mean I have to.

Jewelry?

Going on a hike is no excuse
for not properly accessorizing.

How many gowns do you need?

One for any occasion.
Always be prepared.

Let's move out, Buttercups.

RUBY: All right, Mom.

[GRUNTING]

Oh, I've gotta make some room.

Ugh. What is this thing? [SCOFFS]

There. All set.

Um, Sofia, where's the carriage?

There's no carriage. We're walking.

The whole way?

GIRLS: Buttercups, Buttercups,
marching proud.

Buttercups, Buttercups, cheering loud.

-[GIRLS LAUGHING]
-Wait up!

[GASPS]

Oh, my hat!

Hmm.

Keep a lookout, Ruby.

This could be the hike
where we finally catch a glimpse

of Mossy the swamp monster.

[GASPS] Did you say swamp monster?

Uh-huh. Legend says he roams
the swamps around Swamp Rock Hill.

[ROARS]

No one said anything
about a swamp monster.

That's because it's just a legend.

-No one's ever proven he's real.
-Not yet.

But we're gonna track him down
and draw his picture.

They'll put it in
the Enchancia Enquirer for sure.

And we'll be famous!

Not if we all get eaten
by the swamp monster.

-[LIGHT THUD]
-Oh!

[GASPS] Oh, my shoe!

Oh, my favorite princess pumps.

How am I supposed to keep hiking
with a broken shoe?

I can help you with that, Princess.

-Really?
-Mmm-hmm.

Try these instead.

Oh, no. Princesses don't wear boots.

I do.

Well, they clash with my gown,
and anything else I might ever wear.

Go ahead and try them.

Your feet will thank me for it.

Let me help you.

Buttercups always
lend each other a hand.

I'm sure they do, Sofia,
but I am not a Buttercup.

I can't hike as fast as you.
What if I get lost out here?

Here you go.
Take your trouble whistle.

[BLOWS WHISTLE]

If you ever have an emergency,
just blow it as loud as you can,

and the Buttercups will come running.

[BLOWS WHISTLE]

-What's the emergency?
-What's wrong?

I'm wearing boots.

-Amber, that is not an emergency.
-[GIRLS GIGGLING]

It is to me.

This new gown isn't any easier
to hike in than the old one.

How long before we get
to the star stones?

Oh, not until tomorrow.
We're camping out tonight.

Camping out?
Is that like having a sleepover?

Sort of, only better.

[GASPS] Look at these tracks.

I've never seen anything like them.

Only a swamp monster
can make tracks like that.

Come on. Let's follow them.

Huh. That's funny.
The tracks just end.

MRS. HANSHAW: Round up, Buttercups.

[BOTH GROAN]

It's time for a special treat.
Float fruit.

-Why do they call them that?
-I'll show you.

PEG: I wanna try.
MEG: Me, too!

Aren't you coming, Amber?

You want me to climb a tree?
I just changed.

Whoa!

BOTH: We're floating!

Whoa! Come on, Amber. Float with us.

No. I am not climbing up a tree.

Well, at least try a float fruit.

[CHITTERING]

[SCREAMING] Skunk!

[BLOWING WHISTLE]

Princess Amber, dear, it's okay.

Okay? I've been sprayed by a skunk.

Oh, it's not as bad as all that.

-Just take a sniff.
-Why would I do that?

Trust me. It'll help.

[SNIFFING]

Hey, I smell pretty good.

It's a sweet skunk.

Their scent smells nice,
like lavender.

I've never seen one before.

That's because you only find them
out here in the wild.

Huh. I think I finally found something
about the outdoors I like.

Oh, that smells even better
than my perfume.

You know, maybe this Buttercup stuff
isn't so bad after all.

[GIRLS] Buttercups, Buttercups,
never pout.

Buttercups, Buttercups,
sing and shout!

I could live without
all the cheering, though.

[EERIE HOWLING]

[GASPS] What's that?

Could it be...

The call of the swamp monster?

[LEAVES RUSTLING]

It's gotta be Mossy.

-Are you sure?
-Positive.

Get ready to see
the mysterious swamp...

[HOOTING]

...owl?

MRS. HANSHAW: Ruby, Jade,
I know you really wanna see

the swamp monster,
but, please, don't run off like that.

We have to stick together.

-Sorry, Mrs. Hanshaw.
-Okay, Mom.

Hold up, Buttercups.

This is the perfect spot
for our campsite.

Everyone get out your tents
and set up camp.

-What are you doing?
-We're sleeping here tonight.

[BUZZING]

Out here, on the ground?
In one of those?

Yep. It's fun.

But where are the feather beds?

The silk comforters, the harpist
to play me a lullaby?

We can sing you a lullaby.

Rock-a-bye, Amber...

Please stop.

Don't worry, Amber.
I'll help you pitch your tent.

It'll be nice and cozy.
You'll love it.

-Um, that's a tent?
-Yep.

I think I left mine behind
so I could pack extra gowns.

Then you'll just have to do
what Buttercups do. Improvise.

Impro... what?

Improvise.

Make do with anything you can find.

Well, I do have
a lot of gowns in here,

and some hairpins.

Sounds like you've got everything
you need to make a tent.

When you discover
you don't have what you need

Don't give up
and sleep out in the weeds

There's still time to work things out

I'll show you what I'm talking about

You gotta improvise

Take what's around you

Put it all together in a brand-new way

Improvise
It will astound you

A little imagination
goes a long, long way

So you forgot
to pack a tent on the trip

Now's your chance
to take my little tip

And check out all your other stuff

You'll find that
you have more than enough

ALL: If you improvise

Take what's around you

RUBY: Put it all together
in a brand-new way

ALL: Improvise
It will astound you

A little imagination
goes a long, long way

I think I'm starting to understand

I'm gonna use what I've got on hand

With ribbons, hairpins, gowns of gold

I'll keep myself out of the cold

All I had to do was

ALL: Improvise

Take what's around us
Put it all together

In a brand-new way

Improvise
It will astound us

A little imagination goes a long

Long

-Long
-Long

ALL: Way

[GASPS] That's the prettiest tent
I've ever seen.

It's so shimmery.

And it smells like... flowers?

Nope. Sweet skunk.

Can I go inside it?

Me, too.

Why, sure.

Well done, Princess.

You've got the makings
of a fine Buttercup,

if you ever want to join.

In fact, here's
a tent-making badge for you.

Amber, you got your first badge.

Congratulations.

Ah, thank you. I'll put it on later.

Look at all the stars.

And because we're camping out,

you can stare at them all night,
just like you wanted.

You're right.

Amber knows all about the stars.

BOTH: Really?

PRINCESS AMBER: See those five stars?

That constellation
is called Unicornicus.

MEG: I see it.
PEG: I see it, too!

RUBY: Show us more.

[PRINCESS AMBER CHUCKLES] Oh, okay.

See that bright star just above it?

That's Amberina Major.

The star I discovered.

Well, you seem to have some steam

in your stride this morning,
Princess Amber.

You were right about
these boots, Mrs. Hanshaw.

See, Amber?
You are an outdoor princess.

No, I'm not.

I just wanna find the star stones so
we can get out of this stinky swamp.

Keep a lookout for Mossy.

This is the swamp monster's
natural habitat.

This is it, Buttercups.
Swamp Rock Hill.

It's so rocky.

Where are the star stones?

They're hidden in between the rocks.
You have to search for them.

So get searchin', and be careful.

PRINCESS AMBER: Here I go.
Oh, I can't wait to find them.

I don't see any. Do you, Sofia?

No, I don't.

None over here.

Where are they?

Waiting for you to find them.

Spread out, Buttercups,
and keep looking.

Don't tell me I came
all this way for nothing.

[STRAINING]

[EXCLAIMS]

[SIGHS] I still don't see
any star stones.

Well, let's regroup back at the trail
and find another place to look.

[ALL GASPING]

-It's Mossy.
-It's Mossy.

-The swamp monster.
-PRINCESS AMBER: Where?

That's not a monster.

-That's my sister.
-Huh? I do look like a monster.

This is horrible. [GRUNTS]

I look like a swamp monster,
and I smell like sweaty feet.

A princess should not smell
like sweaty feet.

It's going to be all right, Amber.

Somebody get me a towel.
A hundred towels.

Oh, cheer up, Buttercup.
It's just a little mud.

I am not a Buttercup.

I hate the outdoors.
I hate everything about it.

This is the worst trip
I've ever been on.

But you were having
a good time last night.

Well, I'm not now.

And there aren't even any star stones.

That's it. I'm going home.

Princess Amber.

Don't worry, Miss Hanshaw.
I'll bring her back.

First, I'm taking
the bubbliest bubble bath ever.

And then I'm taking another one.

Amber, wait. You can't just leave.

Well, watch me!

Amber was wrong.

She doesn't look anything
like the swamp monster.

How do you know that?

Because he's right there!

-No!
-Don't go!

Ruby, Jade, wait!

-Which way did he go?
-This way, I think.

MRS. HANSHAW: Jade, Ruby, stop.

Whoa!

Didn't I tell you two
not to run off like that?

Ruby, what got into you?

-We were just so excited.
-We saw Mossy.

Well, getting excited is fine,

but when we don't stick together,
bad things can happen.

[CLIMBING SOUNDS]

[PEG AND MEG GRUNTING]

BOTH: Help!

Like getting stuck in a bog.

[GRUNTS] It's too slippery
to climb back up.

Looks like we're going
to need some help.

-[WHISTLE BLOWING]
-Did you hear that?

-[WHISTLE BLOWING]
-The Buttercups must be in trouble.

You can go if you want to,
but I'm going to help my friends.

[HOWLING IN DISTANCE]

[GASPS] It's Mossy.

He's blocking the trail.

I've gotta find a way
to make him move.

You mean we have to find a way.
They're my friends, too.

Good, 'cause I have an idea.

-You do?
-Uh-huh.

But it means we'll both
have to jump in that mud.

-What? No way.
-Amber, a little dirt is no big deal.

You can always wash it off later.

And don't you think saving our friends
is more important?

[SIGHS] You're right.
What's your plan?

Well, there's only one thing
that can scare off a swamp monster.

-What's that?
-An even bigger swamp monster.

[SOFIA ROARING]

[ROARING CONTINUES]

He's not running away.
Try acting more scary.

[ROARING LOUDER]

[CRYING]

Why is he crying?

Please don't hurt Mossy.

Mossy bruises quite easily.

Mossy's more fragile than Mossy looks.

It's not a he, it's a she,
and she's scared.

I'm sorry. We didn't mean
to make you cry.

We're not going to hurt you.
We're just people.

People frighten Mossy most terribly.

They're always chasing Mossy.

But we only came to help our friends.

And find some star stones.

[GASPS] Star stones?

Mossy loves the wondrous glow
of star stones.

Oh, so you like jewelry, do you?

-Mmm-hmm.
-I'll handle this, Sofia.

I bet you've never tried
on a tiara before.

Mossy has never even seen
a tiara before.

[PRINCESS AMBER GRUNTS]

Oh, it really brings out
the sparkle in your eyes.

[EXCLAIMS] Mossy's eyes sparkle?

They're the sparkliest
swamp monster eyes I've ever seen.

Oh!

Mossy looks quite fabulous.

And there's more where that came from.

But first, we need
to help our friends.

Oh. That's far too slippery to climb.

But if Mossy had a rope,
Mossy could pull them up.

We could try tying
that moss into ropes.

How would we do that?

Making rope
is kind of like braiding hair.

It is? Well, in that case,
let me at it.

Hang on, everyone.
We'll get you out of there.

[GRUNTS] There. Here you go, Mossy.

Oh, Mossy is most impressed
with your rope-making ability.

Grab the rope and we'll pull you up.

Are you sure we won't be too heavy?

We found a little help.

BOTH: Mossy!

It's okay. She's friendly.

And fashionable.

Don't worry, Mossy.
They just wanna draw you.

Is that why people
relentlessly pursue Mossy?

-Uh-huh.
-Here. Take a look.

Oh. Mossy has never looked better.

You can keep it. We only need one.

Thank you ever so much.

Perhaps there's something
Mossy can do in return.

Well, we have had some trouble
finding star stones.

Star stones?

If that's what you want, follow Mossy.

This is where Mossy comes
to find star stones.

GIRLS: Whoa!

They are just like stars.

All right, gather up
your star stones, Buttercups.

We'll have to head back soon.

Amber, your gown is pretty dirty.
Do you wanna change before we go?

Oh, it's just a little dirt, Sofia.

But a costume change may be in order.

Time to hit the path, Buttercups.

PRINCESS AMBER: Wait for me.

Nice outfit, Amber.

[SIGHS] Well, I figured
since I'm a Buttercup now,

I might as well dress like one.

I'm glad you're in the troop.

Oh, thank you for all your gifts
and fashion advice.

Mossy will miss you terribly.

Oh. Amber will miss you, too.

All right, Buttercups. Let's move out.

Bye, Mossy.

-See you later.
-Thanks for everything.

Mossy bids you farewell, Buttercups.

I guess you were right, Sofia.

I'm an outdoor princess after all.

GIRLS: Buttercups, Buttercups,
we will roam.

Buttercups, Buttercups, heading home.
