What's that smell?

[sniffing]

[sniffing]

It's you!

[sniffing]

Oooo! Tell me, did you just have
some pancakes?

'Cause you smell all warm and
pancakeky.

[sniffing]

Or do you smell
this good all the time?

[chuckles]

Mmm...

Well, I wonder what's inside
this envelope?

Only one way to find out.

Oh wow.

It's a certificate.

And it says,

"Congratulations!

You have won a free
Mambo lesson!"

Wow! The Mambo is a dance.

"Your personal Mambo
instructor will arrive TODAY.

Congratulations again.

Good morning, everyone.

Treelo and Ojo are doing...

your seat.

Treelo, Snowbear, Rockboy,

Say hello to your new classmate,
his name is Bear.

-Hello, Bear.

Hey, Ojo.

I' m not Ojo.

I'm "Ms. Ojo," your teacher here
at the Big Blue Schoolhouse.

Bear, is there something
you would like to say?

to say "Wow, school is..."

raise your hand, first,

before you say something.

I can just see it now...

Hey, a chalkboard!

Look, chalk, Ms. Ojo, chalk!

Yeah, school's a great
place to learn new things.

Like - how to spell!

Class, this is the letter "T."

Now, does anyone's
name start with "T?"

Snow Bear?

Rock Boy?...

-Oh, Bear?
-Um...

I think " Treelo" knows
the answer, "Ms. Ojo."

Oh, oh! "Treelo!!"
"Treelo" start with "T!"

Well, that's enough for now.

-I think it's time for...
-RECESS!

Recess! Recess!

Huh? Recess!? Already!?

Oh, yes, Bear.

My class and I are
going to play outside.

That's what recess means.

-What recess means.
-Come along class.

"We're having recess,
it's time for recess..."

Yeah, school is a great
place for learning things.

Hey,

Learning.

Learning, hm hm.

"Learning" means you're
finding out something new.

And the more things you learn,
the more you can do.

Like, for instance...

Oh, you could learn how to tie
your shoes.

Or... you could learn
how to spell your name.

You could even learn
how to play a new game.

Like tennis!

[background music]

Yep! There's always
something new to learn!

♪ My daddy said
"Come over here" ♪

♪ He held my little paw

♪ "Yeah-it's time
I take you in the woods ♪

And it sounds like he's up in
the attic. Come on.

I can't believe this.

-Bear, Bear!
-Tutter!

-Look at this,
-Tutter, What's the problem?

Problem?! I'll tell you
what the problem is, Bear.

Numbers, Bear. Numbers!

Numbers?

-Look at th-
-Tutter, I don't get it.

Here I am, searching for
a nice book to look at.

I pick up this one and it's
all numbers!

-Numbers, Bear!
-look,

you've found my old counting
book. "Berries by the Numbers."

Tutter, now look, see,
look, see.

You know, numbers.

See, one berry plus one berry
and you've got..."

Too many numbers!

That's what you've got, Bear.

A mouse can
never learn numbers, never.

What good are numbers, anyway?

Well...

Ah! Um...

Tutter! By the way,

-before I forget,
-Yeah?

I took one of your cheeses

from the cheese drawer
to make a sandwich.

Y-You took one of my cheeses
from the cheese drawer?

B-but I was going to make
a two cheese cheese cake, Bear!

I'm sorry.
Don't you have enough?

No, Bear! No, I don't have en.

Look, look, I had two cheeses..

If you took one of
those cheeses away

I only have... one cheese left!

And, that's what
I needed to make

-my two cheese cheesecake.
-Aha!!!

Aha, what? Where?

Tutter, you just found
a way to use numbers!

Now wait a minute, Bear.
Wait just a minute!

Nobody said anything
about numbers!

I thought we were talking
about how you stole my cheese!

Don't change the subject.

No, no, no I- I'm sorry, Tutter,

I didn't really steal one of
your cheeses.

Ah! Ah... Pheww

We-well, d-d-don't do that
to me, Bear.

I'm sorry, Tutter, I was
just trying to make a point.

You see?

One cheese...
plus one cheese... makes...

Two... two cheeses!

We-that's how many
cheeses I need to make

my two-cheese cheesecake.

-Yeah.
-Hey, I got, it, Bear,

I got it! Numbers!
Cheese and Numbers!

-Yes!
-I did it!

[laughter]

[grinning]

Achow.

Hey, where'd it go. What th-?

Hey, you know what, Bear?

I think I'm going to
go to the kitchen.

All this talk has really
made me hungry.

[laughter]

-Ok, Tutter.
-Yeah, good-bye, Bear.

Well, I guess we've got
Tutter's number, don't we!

Hey, you know
who we haven't seen today?

My good friend, Shadow. Come on.

Let's go see if we can find her.

Hello my fuzzy old friend!

Shadow! There you are! So,
what have you been up to today?

I was just playing
hop-scotch up in the trees.

From leaf to leaf to leaf.

That sounds like fun.

Well, Shadow, do you happen
to have a story for us today?

I should say I do, Bear.

And it's a grand one.
Just watch.

MAN: One, two, buckle my shoe.

How to buckle a shoe.

First, grasp both parts
of the buckle firmly.

Then, push them together
until they click. Click.

When you hear them click,
you've done the trick. Trick.

Three, four, shut the door.

How to shut a door.

First, the door must be open.

Grasp the door knob firmly
and push the door shut.

But, gee, what do I do
if the door opens the other way?

Just pull the door
towards you to shut it.

Gee, thanks, mister.

Five, six, pick up sticks.

First, approach the sticks.

Then, bend at the knees.

Grasp the sticks firmly,

straighten the knees.

I can pick up sticks, hooray!

Seven, eight, lay them straight.

Nine, ten, do it again.

Remember,
practice makes perfect.

Wow! Thanks, Shadow! What
a great story...

Even if I don't buckle shoes.

You're welcome, Bear.

Well, I've got to go now!

W-Where are you off to now?

I'm off to learn some
new stories.

Okay class, gather round.

The bathroom is the last
stop on our field trip.

-Oooo, field trip! Field trip!
-A field trip? In the bathroom?

This I gotta see.

Okay, everybody,

Excuse me, Ojo, why is the-

Bear... Bear...

-Remember?
-Right. Sorry.

Yes, Bear?

"Ms. Ojo," I was wondering...

why is the class taking
a field trip to the bathroom?

No, no, no, no, no, Bear.

This is not a bathroom.

This is the " Ojo Aquarium."

And today we will
study the habits

of the "Otterus-Purpelus."

That's science talk for purple
otters.

[shouting]

That's US!!

[laughter]

Yeah!

Now, class, you will notice
that " Otterus-Purpelus"

are never too far from water.

We love WA-TER!!

[laughter]

You will also notice that they
are very, very, haha, silly.

Silly?

Us?! We are not silly.

We are otters. [laughter]

Ok, so, class,
what have we learned, today?

Yes, Treelo.

Otters love water. [laughter]

And Otters silly.

[laughter]

Yes, Bear?

Yes, and otters are - very,
very... wet.

Yes, yes, that's right.
Very good, class.

Okay,

[indistinct]

That's the school bell.

Okay, class dismissed.

Hey, you guys, let's pretend

like the bathtub is
the school bus, okay?

Good idea, Ojo.

-Okay.
-See you, guys, have fun.

No, Treelo, you can't drive,
you're too little. [doorbell]

That's the doorbell.
My mambo teacher must be here.

Come on!

Grandma Flutter.

Hi, Grandma, I was just
waiting for my dance teacher.

But would you like to stay
and learn the Mambo?

You know, I really like
mamboing, Bear, but you know,

it makes me all sweaty.

It's is one of my favorite
places in the big, blue house.

You wanna know why?

Because of all the cool
stuff that's up here.

For instance, look at this.

See this?

This is my old varsity
berry-picking jacket.

I was the fastest
berry-picker at Hazelnut High.

Yeah, the attic
is full of great stuff,

but it's also the place where
I talk to a special friend.

You know who that is?

That's right! It's Luna.

Come on, let's go see her.

[background music]

Good evening, Luna.

Hello, Bear.

How was your day in
the Big Blue House?

Great, Luna.

Tutter learned how to
use numbers.

Of course, you know he
was adding and counting

what he loves most

-Cheese.
-Of course!

And Ojo and Treelo had fun
playing school.

Let me guess;
Ojo was the teacher?

A, "Ms. Ojo" was the teacher.

-[chuckles]
-I see.

And then, we all learned
how to do the Mambo!

The Mambo?

How marvelous!
What a wonderful dance.

Yeah, Grandma Flutter
came and taught us.

She was a great instructor, too.

Isn't it great, Bear,
when you learn something,

you can teach it to others.

Yeah, Luna, ha, I love that.

[laughter]

It's just something
I learned a long time ago.

Well...

it's time for me to get
back up in the sky.

-But, before I do, Bear?
-Hm?

Why, Luna I thought you'd
