[NARRATOR]: In Toronto's w*r on crime,

We talked about my music.

Did you have any further contact?

Right before I went on Roman's show,

she left me another message.

She said we needed to talk about Roman.

She seemed really upset.

She said it was urgent.

And I...

Never called her back.

What did she want to talk about?

Well...

She knew that I...

She knew that we...

[CRYING] Um...

Clara, it's okay.

She had seen

an intimate video

of Roman and I together.

We were at Roman's
apartment, about ten days ago.

I didn't even know that I
was being recorded, okay?

And I don't know how
she saw that, but that...

That was none of her business.

Clara, when was the last
time you were with Roman?

Two nights ago.

After I went on his show.

He wanted to see my studio.

So we came back here together in a cab.

He stayed the night.

He left around 5:30, said he had to

get ready for work.

So on the night of Rachel's m*rder,

you and Roman were together
from the start of the show

'til 5:30 AM.

Roman didn't k*ll Rachel Flowers,

because he had Clara
Snow tied up all night,

judging by the bruises on her wrists.

No wonder he didn't want
to tell you where he was.

Look, even if Clara says

their relationship was consensual,

we can still go after him
on the voyeurism charge

for planting the camera.

We could even make a
case that recording her

without her knowledge
constitutes sexual as*ault.

I mean, there's legal
precedent for that.

I don't think Roman was
recording Clara ten days ago.

No, Mark found that video
on Rachel's own tablet,

and she was staring
directly into the camera.

My guess is that she planted the camera

and was sending the feed
back to her own tablet.

Which would explain
how she saw the footage

of Clara a few days later.

So what, Roman just walks?

[SIGHS]

No.

Two weeks before Rachel was k*lled,

we think she talked her way
back into Roman's bedroom

to plant a camera before
having sex with him.

She put herself in danger to
capture the abuse on camera,

and inadvertently captured the as*ault

of another woman ten days ago.

Ah-ah. Clara Snow's not
saying it was as*ault.

Well, not yet. But come on, Theo,

you know how these cases
go. They gain momentum.

First one woman comes forward,
and then another, and...

- I hate to admit it...
- Then don't.

There's no case.

[SIGHS]

If Rachel Flowers coerced a
man into having sex with her

for the purpose of
planting a hidden camera,

she entrapped him.

There's possibly a
side order of blackmail.

And the footage is completely
inadmissible in court.

Last I heard, you're
investigating a m*rder.

A m*rder Roman Rush
couldn't have committed.

[SIGHS]

Frankie.

I believe you.

And once you catch Rachel's k*ller,

we can pull in Sex
Crimes, and go after Roman.

How?

Well, if he preyed on multiple women

who came into his workplace,
somebody had to know.

We just need to find out who.

Rachel Flowers had an
appointment with you

just a few days before she was fired.

Rachel was having issues.

Her coworkers were
reporting erratic behaviour.

I called her in to
discuss her performance.

Interesting. Your
assistant said it was Rachel

who made the appointment, not you.

Okay. If that's what Katie
said, then that's what happened.

Look, Rachel wasn't making much sense.

I suspected there were...
substances involved.

Did she mention Roman
Rush when you spoke?

She did, but there was nothing tangible.

Certainly nothing worth following up on.

The woman was barely coherent.

Okay.

Uh, one more thing.

Can you tell us why
you're leaving this job?

I'm moving to Sierra Satellite
with the Roman Rush show.

They're bringing over the whole team.

It's a multi-million dollar deal.

They're announcing it next week.

Congratulations.

I smell a cover-up.

And millions of dollars worth of reasons

for anyone involved with Roman

to protect him from a m*rder charge.

Okay, so who do we
think would actually k*ll

to protect him, or his show?

Janet from HR,

his producer, maybe, his assistants?

His mother. Do we have
his mother on the board?

Maybe we should park
the "who" for a second

and talk about the "why now?"

If Roman and his enablers

got Rachel fired three months ago,

then she wasn't a thr*at.

- So why k*ll her now?
- Well, someone must've leaked

that she was planning on outing him.

But who would Rachel tell?

She didn't tell her roommate,

and she didn't tell any of
her friends, that we know of.

The only person that
we know she talked to

in the last two weeks,

the only person she
felt might understand?

Clara Snow.

Clara, I wanted to talk to you
about the video that Rachel saw.

I believe she set up that camera

to get proof that Roman is abusive,

and you became part of that proof.

I saw the bruises on your wrists.

And I just want to
make sure you understand

that just because you
consented to sex with Roman,

does not mean he gets to
cause you physical harm.

Of course I didn't consent...

to what he did.

But that doesn't matter.

They're gonna pull up every flirty text

that I sent to him over
the past few months.

Trot out every sexual
partner I've ever had.

They're gonna paint me

as a past-her-prime folk singer

who slept her way to a record deal.

Rachel understood.

She'd been through it.

You know, she filed a
sexual as*ault claim with HR,

requested to be transferred.

Nothing happened.

She couldn't even get that
woman on the phone ever again.

So you and Rachel did talk about this.

That interview that I did with Rachel,

it wasn't about my music.

Rachel had decided

that she was going to use her voice.

She was going to create an exposé

to bring down Roman Rush.

So, I told Rachel my story,

and she told me hers.

But I wasn't ready to go public yet.

And so, when we were done,
she gave me the recorder and she said,

"When you are ready,
we're gonna play the tape."

And then I never called her back.

And what's worse...

I went on his show.

And then afterwards,

I slept with him again.

You wouldn't be the first.

[CRYING]

I could've helped Rachel

when she was still alive.

And I didn't.

So, please, just take this now,

for whatever good it can do.

Clara.

I believe that Rachel was k*lled

to stop her from outing
Roman as a predator.

But the only person

I know she spoke to about this was you.

Wait, so you... You're
saying that her...

Her death, that's was my fault?

No, of course not.

Clara, what I'm asking is...

Did you tell anyone else
what Rachel was planning?

No, no. I...

Wait.

When I was in my green
room, before I went on air,

I listened to Rachel's voicemail.

She said that she wanted to speak out,

that she understood my decision,

but she couldn't wait anymore.

And then Roman's producer walked in.

Martin?

I think it was on speaker.

Clara,

with your help,

I think we can make sure
this never happens again.

What's going on?

Clara Snow came to talk to us yesterday.

About you, Roman.

Sensitive stuff. Intimate stuff.

She wants to press charges.

[SCOFFS]

That's impossible.
Why would she do that?

After everything,

I mean, I plucked her
from complete obscurity.

I featured her on my show,
she signed a record deal.

We celebrated together.

This doesn't make any sense.

- Is it true?
- No, it's not g*dd*mn true.

Then don't worry about it.

It'll go away. These things always do.

I opened every door for her,
I made her a household name!

How dare she? Goddamned bitch!

Stop! Enough!

We're done!

We are not done. We're not done!

Roman, it's over! It's
time to tell the truth!

Oh, you want to tell the truth?

[GRUNTS] You disloyal bastard.

Well, good news, Paolo!

Looks like there's a job opening!

You want to be my new
executive producer?

[OMINOUS MUSIC]

[GRUNTING]

Police, stay down.

- You okay?
- Yeah.

- Yeah?
- Yeah, I'm okay. It worked.

Okay, who do we got here?

Paolo Marcotti, you're under
arrest for the attempted m*rder,

and the m*rder of Rachel Flowers.

You texted Rachel Flowers
on the night of her m*rder,

said you were gonna come
clean with what you know.

You knew exactly what
to say to draw her out,

and then you strangled her,
shoved cocaine up her nose,

and stuffed her lifeless
body into a Spinner Trunk.

Did Roman put you up to it?

Did Martin?

Come on, Paolo, if they
did, you should tell us.

It will help you.

[SIGHS]

"On the advice of my counsel,

I am exercising my right to silence."

Wow. Okay. That's a first.

Okay, what about Clara?

Who told you to make
that problem go away?

I mean, we know Roman's your hero.

You'd do anything for him, 110
percent, just like you said.

Yeah. You'd go to w*r for that man.

And you're a good soldier, Paolo,

but you're not the general.

You don't get to make the decisions.

Three hours ago, we called Roman.

Told him you'd been arrested.

He didn't seem to care.

He's not coming down to check on you.

And he's not sending his
fancy lawyers to save you.

He's gonna let you rot.

And I'm okay with that.

Time for Plan B. Let's
go rattle some cages.

Happy Anniversary.

Amethyst!

You Googled Lily's birthstone?

What's wrong? You hate it.

No, no, I love it, I love it.

I'm just a bit confused. I...

I thought I saw you ordering

that Wanderluxe luggage set online.

You and me, taking a trip.

Now that Lily's old enough
to stay with my mom...

Uh, babe, that luggage was for Roman

as a thank you gift for the Sierra deal,

for bringing me along.

He kind of changed our life, right?

Yeah.

- Oh, yeah.
- [PHONE RINGING]

- [CHUCKLES]
- Who's calling the landline?

Be right back.

[OMINOUS MUSIC]

[SIGHS]

- Hey!
- Yeah, I got your messages.

Oh, guys, I'm sorry.
This has been a lot.

Thank you.

Yeah, we heard about
your move to Sierra,

and this is really not
what you need right now.

Paolo Marcotti is obviously
a very troubled soul.

Yes, it's terrible,
you know? For everyone.

We're gonna make it work.
We're gonna open my new show

with a mental health and wellness week.

Marianne Williamson, Demi
Lovato, if I can get her.

Oh, that's splendid.

Making lemons out of lemonade, right?

Lemonade out of lemons, but yeah, sure.

Right. That's why I need a producer.

I need somebody telling me what to say.

[GRAFF LAUGHS]

He doesn't tell me what to say.

No, right. Sorry.

Nobody tells you what to say,
you're lightning in a bottle.

Martin, have you got a minute?

You might want to shut the door.

[DOOR CLOSES]

So Paolo

confessed to the whole thing?

Said he k*lled Rachel
and went after Clara

to stop them both from reporting Roman.

If I had known that
Paolo was that unhinged...

Jesus...

I don't even know what to do.

The Sierra deal, it's coming,
and it's... [STAMMERING]

... taking up a lot of time.

How did you even know about that?

Janet Lawrence in HR.

She told us about Sierra

and she intimated that
Rachel had filed a complaint.

Now, I know you're all
getting paid a lot to right now

to stay quiet, but I gotta tell you,

Janet's a bit of a leaky boat.

Martin said you hired Paolo personally.

Plucked him from a stack
of 5,000 applicants.

I mean, he had no education

or experience in radio
producing, is that right?

He had talent and drive.

I don't give my employees
psychiatric evaluations,

though clearly, I should.

Next time, right?

You know, we did find the
Reddit thread he wrote you on.

His user name was @Paulie-M.

"Your voice gives me hope."

"I'm your loyal soldier to the end."

It's a bit intense.

Okay, sure, I knew Paolo
was a fan when I hired him.

But so what? All that proves

is that I like having my ego stroked.

Who doesn't?

Is your... ego

what made you take
Rachel back into your bed

after she went to HR about you?

I suppose.

But it was a trick.

She didn't want to sleep with you.

She wanted to plant a
camera in your bedroom.

- She did what?
- She outsmarted you, Roman.

Anything else, Detective Graff?

Yes, as a matter of fact.

I wanted to talk to you about luggage.

We're police, right?

We went to the company and
asked for all online activity

in the last two months, and
they were happy to oblige.

You ordered a whole set.

And frankly, I was shocked by the price.

I mean, luggage, who knew?

It... It was a gift. For Roman.

Oh. Oh, right.

So, we'll find the rest
of it in his loft tonight?

I have no idea what you'll find.

Except proof of him assaulting
multiple young women, no doubt.

Even if you find a camera in my place,

I didn't put it there, and
I didn't videotape anyone.

I saw the tape.

You know, I actually
found it kind of sad.

Seems like the only way you
can perform in the bedroom

is by tying women up, and choking them,

and b*ating them.

I mean, you're not dominating them,

you're levelling the playing field.

You're diminishing them
so you can feel strong,

and virile, and relevant.

You know, it's funny.

The public can forgive a man
with a healthy sexual appetite

who happens to take things too far,

but they will never, ever
respect a man who's weak.

Incapable.

Flaccid.

[SCOFFS]

You know, you might do
better to confess to m*rder.

If you knew what he was doing,
why didn't you come forward?

You could've helped Rachel

instead of telling her she
could borrow that equipment,

then calling security to get
her fired for stealing it.

I'm not proud of that,
but she was volatile.

She was messed up.

I had no idea what to believe.

Roman needed her out,
and you made it so,

'cause you're a great producer.

I heard rumours about him.

But I didn't know for sure

who he was, what he was.

But now I know.

- He needs to be locked up.
- Just him?

I'm gonna make you a deal.

I'll tell you everything,
whatever you need.

I just, I can't do this anymore,

because it's k*lling me.

Well...

[SIGHS]

I don't think so.

[ROMAN OVER SPEAKERS]:
I didn't k*ll anyone.

That's not how this goes, alright?

Martin is the fixer. I do
my thing, and he does his.

So, if someone told Paolo

to go after Rachel and
Clara, then it was Martin.

Well, he certainly screwed that up.

Yes! Colossal stupidity.
He is supremely mediocre

and completely replaceable.

He went rogue without
a plan, it's pathetic.

Trusting Paolo with this? What a loser.

No! You don't get to do this!

No, this is on you. You shat the bed!

Stop talking! For once in your life!

You need me to take care of
your endless messes, so I did!

There were millions of dollars at stake!

- What did you expect?!
- Not this, you moron!

None of this would've happened

if you hadn't sexually assaulted

all the women who came
into that goddamned studio!

Jesus Christ, Martin, I'm not a monster!

You are a monster!

You both are. You just can't see it.

Get off me, man.

[SOMBRE MUSIC]

[DOOR OPENS]

An abuser, an enabler, and a m*rder*r.

Thanks to Rachel and Clara,

we got all three.
