- [Phil] Previously on "The Amazing Race..."

- Let's go.

- [Phil] Six teams left the United States

and headed south to the Central American country of Panama,

where they raced on the famous canal.

- Catch that boat.

- Oh my God.

- Whoo!

- [Phil] The Weavers incited the Linz'.

- Hey, watch this. - Go slow.

- That Florida lady was tellin' 'em to slow the boat down.

Bitch.

- Whoo! - Whoo-hoo!

- That lady needs to take her crazy pills.

- [Phil] The Paolos raced the Gaghans to the Fast Forward.

- Mom, mom, mom.

- Whoa, Tammy, Tammy.

- [Phil] And D.J. Paolo faced his fear of heights.

- You're nervous, son? - Stop, yes.

I can't do it.

- Just take the first step, it's easy.

- So. - After that, it's a gravy.

- [Instructor] Bungee!

[D.J. screams]

- Whoo!

- Big mouth mush that we always fight.

See, see, he loves me.

- [Phil] The Linz siblings and Godlewski sisters

bonded at the Detour.

- You guys will grab one for us?

- We work really good as a team, you guys.

- [Phil] Then at the Road Block,

Bill Gaghan hit one out of the park.

- [Tammy] Excellent, whoo!

- That's what I'm talking about.

- Come on, Sharon.

- [Phil] And Sharon Godlewski went down swinging.

- Out!

- The Paolos arrived first.

You are team number one.

[team cheering]

While the Godlewskis landed last.

The good news is this is a non-elimination leg.

[team cheering]

And they had to start the next leg,

I need to take all your possessions,

with only the clothes on their back.

Now, six families remain, who will be eliminated next?

[fast-paced adventurous music]

[fast-paced adventurous music continues]

[fast-paced adventurous music continues]

[fast-paced adventurous music continues]

[upbeat action music]

This is the Panama Canal,

a -mile long marvel of engineering

that connects the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans

and at the edge of the Pacific, the Miraflores Locks.

This gateway to the world's largest body of water

was the fifth pit stop in "The Amazing Race."

The Godlewski family arrived last at the pit stop

but were not eliminated

because this was the first of several predetermined

non-elimination legs.

However, they were stripped of everything

except their passports and the clothes on their backs.

Will the Godlewskis be defeated by this obstacle

or will they rebound from this setback?

[team cheering]

The Paolo family who were first to arrive

will depart at : PM.

- Travel to San Jose, Costa Rica.

- [Phil] Teams must now travel more than miles

on one of three charter buses to San Jose, Costa Rica.

The buses leave minutes apart

and are first come first serve.

Once in San Jose, they must drive themselves miles

to the top of Volcan Poas,

a thousand-foot deep active volcano.

Here on the rim, teams will find their next clue.

- Let's go.

- Come on, come on, come on, Costa Rica, whoo-wee.

- Come on, let's go.

- [D.J.] All right, we're gonna take a taxi to the terminal.

- I think the boys are appreciating me a little bit more

the way the race has been going.

I'm not as fast and as quick as I used to be,

I'm not as strong as I used to be,

but at least they can understand that I can still do it.

Maybe they can appreciate that I wasn't just some mom

staying at home, doing all the laundry and everything

and taking me for granted.

Taxi.

- He's coming. - Any additional information?

- It's amazing when everything goes right.

Things go bad, little things this small can set us off.

- D.J. please.

- What do you want?

- Can I read the clue, I need-

- No.

I swear to God, you guys better not...

Brian, I'm gonna kick it in the head.

- Will you please read that,

so we know what the hell you're doing.

- Pick a time and pull the ticket

at the Tica Bus Lines counter.

Two teams per bus, first come first serve.

Is this it?

- [Marion] Let's go, let's go, let's go.

- Thank you.

- Gracias. - Gracias.

[Tony speaks in Spanish]

- This is unbelievable.

- Unreal. - We've never been

too far from home.

- Travel to San Jose, Costa Rica.

- Yes. - How are we doing this?

- I guess we go over here.

- Heavenly Father, please guide us.

- Let's go try, like, on the main streets to find a taxi.

- We've been raised since we were born

not to trust other people, but to trust your family

and to trust God.

We see the teams talking about us,

but we can't control what other people are saying,

we can't control what they talk about us.

- [Weaver Sister] We're all Christians and we're above that.

- Teams have $ for this leg of the race.

One team has zero. - $.

- Okay, let's go. - Ready? Let's go.

Come on, dad.

Just go out to the street.

- [Wally] I think the hotel, don't you?

- [Bransen Daughter] No.

- The three girls, they're obviously very close,

they have a lot in common

and although I know they love me and like being around me,

I'm sort of like the outsider of that group.

Crap.

- Travel to San Jose, Costa Rica.

- [Linz Sibling] All right, let's go.

- [Linz Sibling] Let's get first this time.

- We've met some really nice people on this race,

but I think everybody's starting to realize

it could be down to five teams now.

You know, one out of five chances to win a million dollars.

Tenses are gonna get higher.

- [Megan] Time to rock and roll.

- Look at these chickens with their heads cut off.

- The competition is starting to kick in.

You can kind of see it in other family's eyes.

- I see you.

- And I see a taxi.

[Linz sibling whistles]

- Here we go. - You got one?

- Perfect. - Terminal Nacional-

- Si, si, si. - Okay.

- Let's go, get in.

- They got one, sh**t.

Where are taxis?

This is crazy.

- Stop.

- Taxi!

We're gonna be screwed.

- Travel to San Jose,

- Yes. - Costa Rica.

- We have to run there now?

- We have to run to Costa Rica, Carissa.

Can you do it? - How long is that?

- That's about like miles.

- Okay, let's get to the front of the hotel.

- Taxi. - This is good.

Terminal Nacional de Transporte?

- Okay.

- Today we need to be lucky,

yesterday we had a lot of luck and almost all of it was bad.

So we could use a leg with some good luck

and just get ourselves from the bottom of the pack

up to the middle.

- Taxi.

Oh.

- Oh yes.

[taxi driver speaks in foreign language]

- Come on, yes. - Oh.

Hurry up guys, scoot.

- There's a taxi, is that a taxi coming out?

- [Wally] Taxi!

- Dad, I just saw the powder blue team.

They're just getting in their taxi now.

- Yes. - Okay, we wanna get

the second time.

- Oh geez.

- [Wally] Oh, how we're gonna fit?

- Lindsay, sit on her lap.

You have to hold this too.

- Sorry, Lori.

- I'm like on Dad's belly. [laughs]

[traditional Panama music]

- [Tony] All right, now what do we have to do?

- We gotta pick a charter bus time.

Tica Bus Lines has it.

Tica Bus.

- : AM. - AM, number one.

: AM. - That's in the morning.

We got the whole night. - We got all night.

- [Tony] Let's go upstairs and disappear.

- [Marion] Yeah because I don't want Florida to see us.

[taxi driver speaks Spanish] - Gracias.

- Tica Bus Lines counter.

- [Megan] Tica Bus Line.

- Cincinnati guys, tell them which way to go.

- On your right hand side.

It's on your right, Tica!

- Bus one, : AM departure.

- Yeah.

- Nice. - Nice.

- Good.

Whoo.

- We're like, first team that comes in,

as long as it ain't Florida,

tell the where it is quickly. - Yeah.

- Pretty much, we didn't want the Florida team

to get on the bus with us.

They've been rude to everyone,

we're trying to get rid of them pretty much.

So they better fend for themselves

'cause no one's gonna help them.

- Five teams have $ for this leg of the race.

We have zero dollars. - Zippo.

- Oh, let's go. - Okay, let's go.

- Okay, we're gonna need about bucks girls.

- It's hard to do anything with no money.

- Yoo-hoo, boys.

- Buenos noches. - Gentlemen.

- We have no choice, but to hopefully use our feminine charm

and try to get something for nothing.

We lost our money.

- I don't have money.

I have love.

- Let's go inside, girls, come on.

Okay, gracias,

thank you bye-bye. - Ciao.

- Ciao.

- Ola, we are in trouble,

- Yeah. - We have no money.

- Please. - Come on.

Cinco, cinco dinero? - Are you a millionaire?

Vente would be good too.

- Please. - Gracias.

Bus terminal, we have $.

- Yes. - Gracias.

- Gracias. - Okay.

- [Bill] Hey guys, keep your eyes open for another team.

- There's Florida right there.

- Where's it? Come on.

- Florida.

- Go, go, go. - Rapido.

- Gracias. - Gracias.

- [Weaver Sister] There's the Rugrats.

- Tica?

Tica Bus Lines? - Tica Bus?

We gotta find it.

Tica?

- Oh wait, wait, who's this? Who's this?

- Donde es Tica?

- Tica?

- Oh, Tammy, Tammy's down there.

- Bill! That way, that way, that way.

- Keep going, keep going!

- Tica. - Tica.

[pedestrian speaks in foreign language]

Rolly!

- Tica! - Tica!

- Where?

- Right there, right there, right, right, right, right.

- Tica!

- What is it? - : PM.

- [Weaver Sister] Tell the Rugrats.

- No!

- Tica! Tica! Tica!

- Oh my God.

[teams cheering and applauding]

- Go, go. - Dad, your bag.

Yeah, I think number three.

Ugh.

- Yeah, we're on the last bus.

- Damn.

- We went from third to last.

- Tica Bus.

- Wait, I see ticket counter.

We're on the last bus.

Well, hey, we got one.

We made it. - We're here.

- Whoo! - Yeah!

- We need to get to work.

- Let's ask them now while they're out here.

- We've been beggin' obviously.

- Where do you need?

- We could at least hit you for five bucks.

- Sure.

- Okay, thank you.

- The Florida team, we're being nice to them,

they're being nice to us and you know,

when it comes down to it, I'm sure we'll be-

- Yeah, listen. - Be some backstabbin'.

[gentle dramatic music]

- Let's go, bus number one.

[upbeat adventurous music]

- This is great stuff.

Unbelievable. - Yeah.

[upbeat adventurous music]

- We're going to land.

- This is nice.

[gentle dramatic music]

- [Bill] Exposure to, you know, to different countries

and you know, seeing poverty in the world,

when you see something like that,

that makes you really appreciate your life.

You know, that's a great gift to give to your children.

[upbeat adventurous music]

- We're tied for the back pack, we'd like to mention

because we have one more team on this bus.

- Yes.

- So we're not alone. [laughs]

[traditional Latin American music]

- Let's go.

- Let's go.

We need to pick up our vans.

Parqueo Publico Adrian.

[pedestrian speaks in foreign language]

- [Megan] Two streets down.

- Let's go, let's jog it out.

- Come on, guys.

- Well, I would love to, we can't.

- I'm coming.

- Yeah, so is Christmas.

- This is it. - Is this it?

Come on, come on.

- Look at that, Adrian.

- You want me to drive? - I'm driving, I got it.

- You got it.

- We're gonna go behind you?

- Yeah. - All right.

- Senore, Volcan Poas?

Can you take us there?

- Nick, if you pay him, we'll split up.

- Gracias, he's gonna take us exactly there.

- Okay.

- We hope.

[upbeat adventurous music]

- Do you wanna go this way?

- Yes.

- Okay, let's go guys.

- We're gonna have to figure out

where Parqueo Publico Adrian is.

- We'll ask somebody.

- There's nobody out, it's gonna be hard.

- [Tammy] Carissa.

- [Bill] Catch up to mommy and daddy, please.

- Mom, I have no hands you can hold.

- Get close to me, Rolly.

Guys, come on up here.

I'm nervous in this area.

- Catch up time.

Excuse me, por favor.

Public Parking Adrian?

[pedestrian speaks in foreign language]

- It's a race. - Over, you're right.

- Three blocks down over. - So that sounds like.

- Un momento por favor.

Parqueo Publico Adrian.

[pedestrian speaks in foreign language]

- Gracias.

- This is really bizarre.

- Three blocks to the right.

- Should we cross over this way first?

- Yeah, good idea.

- Stay there, stay there.

Parqueo Publico Adrian?

- I don't know.

- No? Gracias.

I don't understand.

- I don't see anything.

- Dear God help us, please help us.

[upbeat dramatic music]

- Parqueo Publico Adrian located on cataway nine.

- We're on the right street.

- It's gotta be this way.

- There's the Desperate Housewives.

- Okay, that's one block.

- Maybe they found out, come on.

- [Wally] Okay guys, come on.

- I think it's in here, you guys.

This is it. - Adrian?

- Adrian, go. - Let's go there.

- Here. - Is this it?

- Yeah.

- Oh my God, we caught up.

- [Godlewski Sister] Let's get outta here.

- I need to figure out the car first.

- Let's do red.

- How'd the Brady Bunch catch up with us?

- Can you get my map out, Tammy?

- [Godlewski Sister] You got it, Sharon.

Go girl.

- Are you sure you're comfortable?

- I can drive a stick shift, you guys.

- Go girl.

Oh mommy. - Oh my God.

- [Rolly] Brakes are working.

- Sorry. - This is scary.

- Whew. - Momma.

- We got a cabby in front of us right now

leading us all the way up to the Volcan Poas.

- Are you guys all right?

- We're good, just keep up with the other team.

We're fine.

- Volcan Poas kilometers.

We are at least in the right direction.

- Hey, what's this brown sign, like, looks like a volcano?

- Oh, volcano.

Going the right way.

- [Bransen Daughter] We need to ask them,

we don't know what we're doing.

- Dad, you ask this guy right here.

- [Wally] Why don't you go up and talk to him?

- Why don't you?

It's easier for you to get out there.

- Yeah, dad. - No, it's not.

- Dad, just get out.

- [Wally] Can't you get out of the car?

I don't get it.

- Well, I'm not going to,

if you're gonna act like that. - Okay, that's fine then,

you don't want to. - Fine.

- Dad, put your seatbelt on.

- God, please guide us to where to go

and let us b*at the other people if it's your will.

- [Linda] What does this sign say?

- [Weaver Sister] Volcan Poas.

- [Weaver Sister] Awesome, thank you, Lord.

- Ugh.

- The Volcan Poas, right there.

- There it is, all right.

- Oh my God. - This is it.

- All right guys, the gates are closed.

- [Megan] This sucks.

- [Tammy] She's out.

- Oh, she's out.

She's good 'cause she can wake up and go

like in two seconds.

- Yep.

- Oh my God, we made it this quick.

- Hey Carissa, wake up sweetie.

You're gonna have to get out.

- Hey guys.

We're the third car here? - Yep.

- Oh my God.

- Here comes the sign, Volcan Poas.

Who is that?

Billy.

Hello.

Park's closed, huh?

- [Weaver Sister] Ooh, that's the Housewives.

- This?

- Yeah, let's get me outta here.

- We're five.

- [Bransen Daughter] I think we made pretty good time.

There's teams up there.

- What's going on?

Is everyone here?

- Yeah.

[upbeat adventurous music]

- The park's closed and as soon as it opens,

everybody's allowed to kind of mad dash it in.

- I think it's gonna be a first come first serve.

- Okay. - So just run, run, run

as fast as you can.

- And Dad. - What?

- I hope it says kids are free.

- I love kids are free.

Then that's good for our team.

- [Megan] Guys, the gate.

[upbeat adventurous musiC]

- Let's go.

[upbeat adventurous music]

- Nice work.

Route Info.

- Good job.

- Something's brewing at the Doka Estate.

- [Phil] Teams must now travel miles

and find this coffee plantation.

Once there, they'll find their next clue.

- Caution, Yield ahead.

- Come on.

- Yield ahead, okay, let's go back down.

- [Bransen Daughter] Holy cow.

- Oh gosh. - Cool.

- Come on.

Something's brewing at Doka Estate.

- That's, we go into our car.

- Come on.

- Find there to get your next clue.

- Yield ahead.

- Trish!

Doka Estate.

Let's go.

- We're almost down.

- Let's go, let's go, come on.

- Down the hill - This is so heavy.

- It's not easy, take your time.

- [Marion] I'm okay, I can do this.

- [Tony] That a girl.

- Come on, girls.

- Florida team's right behind us, let's go.

- I'm gonna get outta here so they don't follow us.

- Good work, gentlemen.

- Good Nick. - Thank you.

- The orange team's ahead of us.

- Yeah, they are.

- [Weaver Sister] That was the dumbest volcano

I've ever been to.

- Carissa, thank you for running.

I know how hard that was, good girl.

- You did good.

- Oh. - Okay, you did good.

- Yeah.

- [Tony] What an unbelievable view, unbelievable.

- [Bransen Daughter] Maybe they have a map in there.

- [Wally] Yeah, we'll take a look.

- Yield ahead, you guys, we gotta get going.

- Oh, my side.

Oh God. - Let's go.

- Just relax. - Let's go.

- Do we know where it is?

- Yeah.

[wheels screeching]

Yikes.

- Go wee.

- Remember when we get to the Yield,

stand on the mat and say, we will not be Yielding anybody.

- Or are we?

- I think we should. - Florida?

- [Linz Sibling] Who do you wanna Yield?

- The Florida team.

They're good and sneaky.

- Do we do it?

We just suck it up and be mean for a day. [laughs]

- [Linda] I don't know how we're gonna find Doka Estates.

- Ask this guy.

- [Linda] Doka Estates?

- Doka Estate...

- There's Florida. - Pass 'em.

- You need to turn-

- On righto or lefto?

- Right. - Okay.

- [Marion] Go 'round them.

Go, so we can Yield them.

- [D.J.] Yeah, I'm going, ma.

- They're getting directions.

- In the first- - There's another car

passing us.

- I say we Yield Florida.

Let's give them a little gift.

- Eight kilometers.

- Okay.

- Good for us.

Bad for them.

- Good, gracias.

- Muchos gracias.

- Even though you were no help.

[traditional Latin American music]

- Here we go, assigned areas. - Yeah, yeah, yeah.

- Get ready to jump out.

- Doka. - Do you see it?

- Oh, right there, you see? - Go, go, go, go, go.

- [Godlewski Sister] We gotta grab that number, girls.

- We're gonna dart outta here.

So dad, you need to hustle.

- Dad, dad, watch out!

- Get out, get out. - Go, go, go, go, go.

- Go. - Ah.

- I see it. - Come on, come on, come on.

- Go, go, go. - Come on Sharon.

- Over here, come on Trish. - Yield, Yield.

- This is the first of only two Yields on the entire race.

At this specific spot,

one team can force any other team to yield,

that is stop racing for a predetermined amount of time.

Teams can use their Yield power only once during the race.

So they need to decide when it's in their best interest

to use it.

Any team that's being forced to Yield

must turn this hourglass over

and wait for the sand to run out before they continue on.

- I got number one. - We got one.

- We choose to Yield team Florida.

- All right, guys.

- Florida team. - Whoo!

- Thank you. - Let's go, you're welcome.

- Road Block, Road Block.

- Road Block, Road Block.

- A Road Block is a task that only one person may perform.

In this Road Block, that person has to search through

pounds of coffee beans

for the one bean that is colored red.

Once they find that elusive bean,

the plantation manager will give them their next clue.

- You gotta tell, differentiate it.

You wanna do it?

- I'll do it.

- Red, red, red.

Come on ma, spread it out.

- Dad. - You do it.

Come on Tammy, one red bean, girl.

- Road Block. - You will do it.

- Lauren do it. - Okay.

- Lauren's doing it.

- Let me do it. - Megan's doing it.

There you go, Megan, go.

- [D.J.] Find the red bean, come on, come on.

[teams shouting]

- Trish, you have to look and see

which one looks different. - Okay.

- Come on, Trishy.

You can do it, Trisha. - Whoo!

- Come on, Trish.

[teams shouting]

- Flat it out, Tammy.

[teams cheering]

- Hey, come on, look with your eyes.

- A little bit at a time.

Do a little and you check through it.

- Oh my God. - Spread it out!

- [D.J.] Spread it out nicely.

- Here it is.

[teams cheering]

- Come on! - Come on!

- [Godlewski Sister] Come on, Trisha!

- Thank you, ah!

Get together.

Drive to the town of Jaco- - Ssh.

- [Phil] Teams must now travel miles

to the small beach town of Jaco

and enter this local surf shop.

Once there, they must find Javier

to receive their next clue.

- Green, green, green girls.

Green, green. - Okay, get there.

- You were the first one.

- Oh wow.

- I got it, I got it. [teams shouting]

- Come on, ma!

- Let's go, let's go, come on baby, come on.

- We gotta wait for her, gotta wait.

Drive to the town of Jaco.

Excellent. - Yeah.

- Come on, baby.

- [Marion] Florida team, they're gonna love us for that.

- [Tony] Good.

- Good job, ma.

- Yeah, thanks. - Good job.

[upbeat dramatic music]

- [Rolly] Somebody Yielded us.

- Oh my gosh! - The Cleavers Yielded us.

- Oh!

- That's okay, turn it.

Just forget it.

- They're in front of a garbage truck.

They're in front of a garbage truck.

- Retards.

- That's fine. - I'm just really mad.

- We don't care.

- I'm just mad.

- Where is this bugger?

- Got it.

I got it. - You got it?

Yeah!

Get a clue, get your clue. - Go, go Megan!

- Good job, Megan.

Good job, good job, here you go.

- You guys. - Right here.

- Drive to the town of Jaco.

- You guys are evil.

- I hope those boobs cost a lot

since you get to wear a bra. - The only natural one.

- What did I say he looked like?

- A squirrel.

- And you just didn't know it, ret*rd.

- [Linda] Let's be real happy when they come by.

Sing, sing, what do we sing?

[team singing]

- Good luck, it's hard as hell.

- Yeah, right.

- [Linz Sibling] Sore losers.

- [Weaver Sister] They're all ganged up against us.

- They are.

- [Bill] Come on Tam.

Get down on your hands and knees and look.

- Keep going, Lauren, keep going.

[teams cheering]

You can do it! - Come on, mom.

- Got it, I got it!

- Go Lauren! - Go baby.

Let's read it right here. - Okay.

- Good job, Lauren.

- Drive to the town of Jaco.

- Come on, mom!

Come on!

- Oh, this is so frustrating.

- It is.

- You can't do anything to help either.

Yelling doesn't help her.

- Maybe it makes it worse.

- Yeah, I think it.

Hey, just stay with what you're doing.

- You can do it.

- Hang in there. - Just stay in there.

- Nah, they're all ganged,

they're ganging up, you guys.

- You'll pick it up.

- Yeah, it's not you, easy to say that.

We may eliminated, absolutely.

Oh, I mean we're the last people here.

We're ready to go home.

- No one wants us here.

[upbeat dramatic music]

[upbeat dramatic music]

- [Linda] We're ready to go home.

- No one wants us here.

- They wanna do that, let them do it

but we won't play that game.

We're responsible to a higher authority

and we'll go as far as we can go doing the right thing.

- [gasps] Where is this thing?

- Hope she knows what the color red is.

- Yeah, find the red one.

- I don't think I have a red bean in here.

- Dad, one team's on the Yield.

- [Bill] Oh God.

- Come on mom, you're absolutely under no pressure.

- [Godlewski Sister] Drive to the town of Jaco

at the Roco Loca Surf Shop.

All right, I'm trying to communicate

with the team behind me.

- We don't know either.

You know, you ought to start learning

not to tell everybody everything we know.

- I'll tell them, yeah, yeah, nicey nice.

Whatever it takes to stay in the race.

- [Marion] I don't understand that.

- Then in the final three is when I tell everyone

to go to hell.

- Good job, Megan.

Seriously, awesome.

- Thank you. - Proven yourself.

You are now an official Linz boy.

[everyone laughs]

Here are your golden balls.

- years guys, years,

I was looking forward to getting my balls.

- Where are we going?

- We're going to Jaco. - Jaco.

- Was my underwear out everywhere?

- Yeah, I was gonna scream, "Nice ass"

but I held myself in just 'cause Bill and Tammy were there.

- This is it, get ready you guys, get ready.

Come on guys, come on.

- You do it then, you do it.

- They're finished with their Yield.

- [Bill] Come on, Tammy, don't give up.

- Please don't give up.

[Tammy graons]

- Come on Ray, look for that red bean.

- [Bill] Come on, Tammy.

- Pray Rachel, pray.

- [Godlewski Sister] We need to ask someone.

- [Godlewski Sister] Yeah, someone here's gotta know.

- [Tony] They're gonna stop.

- [Marion] Go straight, go, go, go.

- Is it here?

We're not in Jaco yet.

- Oh, they kept going.

- [Godlewski Sister] Oh, come on.

- That's okay, they're only gonna be a few minutes ahead.

- [Godlewski Sister] We don't want 'em

to be a few minutes ahead.

- Ola, surf shop?

[store owner speaks in foreign language]

- How do we get to the ocean?

Further down?

- [Store Owner] Si.

- Further down, come on. - We got it.

- Get back in, go.

- It's okay, we can kick their ass at the Detour, let's go.

- [Marion] Here's somebody right here.

- Do you know where Roca Loca Surf Shop is?

[pedestrian speaks in foreign language]

- Brian, you can't sit around with these people.

- This way is the main drag.

- From now on, I'm gettin' out askin' people.

- Okay, so just how far this way?

- I swear to God, Brian! Yes or no?

Come on! It's this way!

- Maybe dos kilometers.

- Okay, thank you very much, sir.

It's on this road.

- A monkey could figure that out.

- [Carissa] Come on mom.

- Come on, Tammy.

- Find a red bean, babe.

We can catch up.

[Rachel sighs]

- Come on Ray.

- Got it.

- Come on. - Yes!

- Oh my God.

- Thank you. - Okay.

Drive to the town of Jaco.

- Back to the ground.

- I just really wanna b*at the New York team.

Oh, I wanna b*at them.

- [Bill] Come on, mommy.

- [Carissa] Now we're the last ones here.

- Where could this thing be?

- Mom said there's none in her pile.

- There is one Carissa, I promise, don't get frustrated.

[sighs] Man.

- Ah, I finally found the darn thing, my goodness.

- Finally.

- I finally found it, thank you.

- Drive to the town of Jaco.

Okay, let's go, we're not out of this.

- [Carissa] Come on, let's hurry there.

- I'm so sorry about that.

- Don't worry about it, you did the best you could.

- [Carissa] Mom, only if was a two-person Road Block.

- Oh, that was so frustrating. - I know.

- Keep looking, keep looking.

Guys, that's Wally and the girls.

- You look right, I'll look left.

- [Wally] Oh, there it is.

- Let's go, Bransens.

- Loca, Loca, right here, right here.

Go, go, go, go. - Park it.

- [D.J.] How the hell did you see that sign?

- Are you Javier?

- Thank you. - Come around here, come on.

- Everybody's here, excuse me.

- Gracias senore.

- Go to the car, go to the car, go to the car.

- Detour. - Detour.

Relic or Ripe.

- A Detour is a choice between two tasks,

each with its own pros and cons.

In this Detour, teams have to choose

between two beloved elements of Costa Rican culture.

The choice, Relic or Ripe.

In Relic, teams make their way to this nearby rainforest

and must traverse six precarious rope bridges

while searching for four relics of the Maya civilization.

Once they have delivered each of these relics

to this archeologist, they'll receive their next clue.

In Ripe, teams travel to this nearby banana plantation,

where they must gather bushels of bananas

and load them onto these hanging tracks.

Then, using a locally devised pulley system,

the teams must haul the bananas to the distribution center

where the foreman will give them their next clue.

- I think we should do the Relic.

- I do too.

- Let's do the Ripe.

- Come on, let's go. - That's gonna be easier

than finding the relics?

- Yeah, I wanna do the bananas.

- It's right here,

let's get up. - Get out, get out.

- What's his name? - Javier.

- Okay, let's go, we'll read it in the car.

- Let's roll.

What do you guys wanna do?

- We're doing the Relics.

- [Tammy] Oh man, we are totally lost.

- [Bill] Can we please ask somebody, Tammy?

- Sure.

I'm trying to go to Jaco.

- I hop in?

- Yes,

do you wanna come with us? - Do you wanna come with us?

- Okay, let's go.

- [Bill] Gracias, gracias.

- [Tammy] He's very nice to come with us.

- You're a very good, man.

I am feeling really good about this.

- Oh, what's this?

What's this? What's this?

Roca Loca.

- Get out, get out, get out. - Ola.

- Javier? - Javier?

- Come on, Trish.

- Detour.

- Okay. - We're doing the Relic.

- [Godlewski Sister] Yes.

- Wait, which way?

- [Godlewski Sister] To our right side.

- Guys, which way? - Stop, okay.

- [Godlewski Sister] That way would be right, Sharon.

- Okay, well you have to tell me

to turn around. - Shut up!

You're spazzing out for no reason.

- No Trisha, you guys aren't helping me.

- [Michelle] Are you turning around?

- Yes.

- [Michelle] Okay, don't snap at me.

- Would you like to drive?

- Yeah, I could.

- Here, I'll pull over. - You guys, it's okay.

- You can drive.

- You guys, it's okay.

I really don't- - No, she can drive.

She can do a better job, she can drive.

- Go straight Michelle, go straight.

No, right, right, right, right, right, right, right.

- That's not the way we came. - Right, right, right.

- Well Sharon- - You don't wanna help!

So why don't you be quiet! - Well no Michelle, see.

No, no, you know what?

Michelle thinks she knows everything, so she can drive.

- [Michelle] No, I don't! I said I'll drive.

- Look for signs for the plantation.

Frutas selectas del tropico.

I don't see anybody else here.

- Oh, my legs are k*lling me.

- Come on, come on, come on.

You're okay, mom?

- I'm coming, I'm right behind yous.

- We gotta hook .

- I can't lift that. - That's okay.

- Mom, yeah you can. - You can't lift that?

I'll lift the damn thing.

- Holy wow. - Ah.

- I can't lift these.

- They're heavy baby.

They are freaking heavy.

- Ah, dad, I can't.

- [Tony] Get over here.

Get over here.

- Up. - Pull.

- Up. - It's up, it's up.

- Up, up. - Okay, let it go.

- More, more, more. - Watch your fingers.

Watch your fingers. - Okay, good.

- That's heavy.

Geez.

- Anyone know what a relic is?

- It's like a artifact, you know,

a little thing from the past.

- We got the Bransen girls and Papa Wally in front of us.

We're in hot pursuit.

- [Linz Sibling] There it is, stay right on their ass

and when we get out, we gotta move.

- Let's go.

- Yeah.

- [Linz Sibling] You Bransen kids.

- [Linz Sibling] Come on Meg.

- [Megan] I'ma comin'.

- [Bransen Daughter] Beware snakes, great.

- Be careful, it's slippery.

Come on dad.

- [Megan] Oh boy.

- Keep your eyes peeled.

Look at down.

- [Megan] Oh, that's high.

- [Linz Sibling] That's crazy.

- Let's run across these bridges.

- Ah, no, thanks.

- [Bransen Daughter] Ready Wally?

- Wally doesn't like heights - Whoo!

- But I love 'em.

Maybe don't sway it.

- [Wally] I can't go fast on this.

- Oh my God, this is a little scary for me.

- Whoo.

This is awesome.

Come on, Wally.

- Oh man.

- All right, go ahead.

- [Linz Sibling] Wow, it's coming down, be careful.

- [Megan] Holy crap.

- [Linz Sibling] Just a walk in the park.

- That was so high.

Damn you guys, where could these stupid relics be?

- Go, go, go. - Come on, guys.

Roco Loco?

- Xavier. - Xavier?

- Xavier. - Javier?

- Thank you. - Thank you.

- Detour.

Should we do the Relics?

- [Rolly] Yeah, sure, come on.

- Now, the three of us bring one so we don't k*ll ourselves.

- Yeah, take it easy guys.

- Go.

Dad, just help us take it.

- Go, go.

- All right, k*ll yourself.

- [Marion] Help him.

- [D.J.] I don't know how he's doing it by himself.

- [Brian] I dunno, our father's crazy.

[Tony groans]

- Got it.

- [Tony] Come on, come on, come on.

- [D.J.] Dad, don't hurt yourself.

- [Tony] Take one, come on guys.

- [D.J.] I'm trying, damn it.

- I'm getting nervous that this is taking too long.

There they are, there they are, go.

- Oh my God, so four different ones, Beth, right?

- [Beth] Yeah.

- Holy, geez.

- All right, let's go, let's go.

- Jesus, where the hell are these relics?

- You guys, right there.

What about the dog?

- I bet it's one of each animal.

- Do we have four? - Let's go.

- Yeah. - Let's go.

- Yeah. - Come on Meg, hustle.

- [Bill] Is it on this road?

- Roco Loco Surf Shop. - Where?

Right here, right here, right here, right here.

- Go, go, go, go, go.

- One, two, three, go.

- You got it.

- Up, up, up, up, up.

- It's heavy. - Got it, got it, good.

- That's , right? - Beautiful.

Good job guys.

- Dad, you're a fricking monster.

I don't know how you did that.

- I understand fully what my dad does every day.

If I tried to lift the garbage can, I can't do it.

When he picked up those bananas, I don't have that strength.

I cannot do what my father does.

Gracias. - Aw, thank you so much.

Thank you, thank you. - Gracias.

- Drive yourselves to the town of Quepos.

Once there, travel by foot to the next pit stop.

- Teams must now drive approximately miles

to the town of Quepos and find this beach.

This sandy retreat at the edge of the Pacific Ocean

is the pit stop for this leg of the race.

The last family to check in here may be eliminated.

- Warning, last team to check in may be eliminated.

Let's go, let's go. - All right.

- Let's just go, let's just go.

- [D.J.] We know where we're going.

- [Brian] Eyes for signs to Quepos.

- Oh, my leg's shaking.

- Keep going, we're almost there.

[Bransen daughter groans]

- Oh God.

- Ola.

- The pink ladies are here.

- Oh my God, are they huge.

- Don't stop til the end.

They'll be right there.

- Okay. - Let's go.

- Thank you. - Thank you very much.

- Drive yourselves to the town of Quepos.

Once there, travel on foot to the next pit stop.

That was the direction that we were going.

- [Billy] Rainmaker, seven kilometers.

- [Carissa] Are we allowed to go fast on this road?

- [Bill] No, you can't go too fast.

- [Billy] Come on dad, is that all you got?

- We did it.

Thank you.

Drive yourself to the next pit stop.

- Come on, come on. - Go.

- There's another one right there.

- [Carissa] That means one family's here.

- Hey guys.

- All the other teams come?

- Three or four teams had already came here.

- So we're probably last. - I don't know.

I don't know.

- Don't give up, Tammy. - Come on, let's hurry.

- Never, ever.

- You guys, I'm really tired.

- Why?

- I'm not a young teenager, I'm an old woman.

Oh sh**t, sh**t, sh**t.

Oh, this is gonna be awesome.

- [Weaver Sister] We'll just push you, mommy.

- [Rolly] We can get it out.

- [Linda] Okay, push me.

- Mom, it's okay, it's okay. - Okay.

- This is cool.

- [Bill] Whoa.

- You like it?

It's scary though 'cause it's so wobbly.

- Oh my gosh.

- Where are our relics? Come on.

[car engine revving]

- There's no tread on that. - Wouldn't you know.

- They're just spinning.

- There they all are.

I got the lady, you got the man?

Okay, go.

- How come I got the big one, I want the dog.

- [Carissa] Well, I can't carry that.

- You're right, we can do this.

Sorry, sorry, sorry.

- Right here, right here.

- Tammy, can you help me put this down?

- Okay, oops.

- I don't think

you put it down like that. - I don't got it.

- Muchos gracias. - Gracias.

- Drive yourself to the town of Quepos.

Once there, travel on foot to the next pit stop.

Warning, the last team to check in may be eliminated.

Okay, let's go, we're never out of it.

- [Billy] It would be great Phil says,

Gaghan Family, you're team number five.

- [Bill] Yeah, that's what we wanna hear.

- [Tammy] Somebody could have gotten really lost.

- Oh, hold on, there's a sign up there, go.

Quepos, you're here.

- [Tony] But we gotta go to the Malecon.

- [D.J.] Where's the Malecon, dad?

- [Tony] I don't know, damn it.

- What do you, what should I do?

- [Bransen Daughter] Drive.

- Straight? - Yes.

- [Linz Sibling] There's someone.

- Where? - Where?

The Linz' are right behind us.

- Turn around. - Turn and go the other way.

Go, go. - Turn around?

They might have seen us.

- Park right here.

- [Linz Sibling] I have to go up there.

- No, they're going that way.

- I don't care, I'm gonna get off here.

- [Linz Sibling] It's all right, good call.

- Donda esta Malecon?

- It's here.

- Okay, okay. - Okay.

- Gracias, gracias. - Right here, right here.

This is it. - Just park along here.

- And then we're jogging, I'm sorry if your legs hurt.

- Let's go.

Pick up the pace.

You can't walk faster than that?

- You think I wouldn't if I could?

- [Tony] Crap.

- Who's running down the block?

It's New York.

- Mom, the girls are here. - Mom, let's walk.

- Come on. - Come on!

- Yes. - Yes, Phil.

- You are team number one.

[family cheering]

- Yes, yes!

- I told you, I told you to run!

- Yes! - Whoo!

[family cheering]

- Now, I've got some good news for you.

As the winners of this leg of the race,

each of you have won a wild ride

courtesy of the Wild Bean Cafe at BP.

Now you can choose between a Segway, a Vespa,

a jet ski, or an all-terrain vehicle.

[family cheering]

Each of you get one of those

and you can enjoy that after the race.

- Yes! - Whoo!

- Congratulations. - Thank you, thank you.

- My mother has definitely exceeded my expectations.

She has totally blown my mind in terms of a lot of things

that she's been able to do.

So she's proving me wrong.

What she's done so far has amazed me.

- I think this was the best thing

that could have happened to us.

It's about family getting together and working together.

This was the perfect thing for us.

If it wasn't for Marion, I don't know what I would do.

What she did today, she impressed me a lot

and I love her, what can I say?

- All right, second team, come on in here.

- Hey, we did good.

- We almost had it. - Nice job.

- Linz Family, you are team number two.

- All right. - Hang in there, baby.

Almost ran 'em down.

- We almost had it. - Nice job.

- All right, Brensen Family, come on in.

Brensen Family, you're team number three.

[family cheering]

I've seen you look cleaner.

- Yes, we have. - Yeah.

- I've smelled you better than this before, too.

This is, wow.

- Guys, look down there and see if we see any cars.

- [Godlewski Sister] Yeah, we are.

- [Godlewski Sister] Oh, there's a red truck like ours.

So go park up there. - Go there.

- All right, this is it, let's go.

After all that, we're still here, man.

Here it is, go quick.

Come on, girls. - Ah.

Good news, Phil, please.

- Godlewski Family.

- Yes. - Yes, Phil.

- You're team number four.

[family cheering] - I told you! I told you!

- We stay alive.

- Do you think we're in last place?

- We're racing to the finish line,

that's all I wanna see from you, right?

- [Carissa] Winners never quit, quitters never win.

- [Bill] That's exactly right.

Are we quitters or are we winners?

- Winners. - Winners.

- [Bill] That's right.

We are not giving up on this.

- [Weaver Sister] Oh, we're in Quepos.

- Donda esta Malecon?

Malecon?

- Oh no. - Oh my gosh.

- [Weaver Sister] Oh my gosh, how can no one know?

- Oh, this, we're in Quepos right now.

No, I wanna know where to park.

- Oh, there, they're parked, go up there.

Oh, where they're parked.

[upbeat dramatic music]

- Walk it off.

- We park our car.

- We run. - We run our little

tushies off. - We run out little

tushies off.

- All right, let's go guys.

[upbeat dramatic music]

- Welcome to Costa Rica.

- Thank you. - Gracias.

- Weaver Family...

You're team number five.

[family sighs]

- Yes.

- You're still in the race.

- This is beautiful, isn't it?

- This is beautiful. - With the sunset

and the water.

- Dad, can we come here on vacation once?

- [Bill] I think we're gonna come back here on vacation.

I love this place.

- [Tammy] Hold your head up high, Billy.

- [Bill] Come on, peanut.

[somber music]

- Gaghan Family.

You're the last team to arrive.

I'm sorry to tell you

you have been eliminated from the race.

- Yeah, well thank you.

- Good job. - Good job.

- I'm so proud of you guys.

- Good job, you guys did an excellent job.

- That was really nice out there.

- Yeah. - You guys should be

really proud of yourself.

- We have zero regrets. - Absolutely.

- I mean, I am so proud of Tammy, I'm so proud of Billy

and really proud of Carissa.

I mean, these guys, they fought and they fought

and they fought, we never gave up.

- We ran this real hard and we're gonna go out

with our heads held high.

- Should be real proud.

Carissa, you are the youngest person ever

to have come this far on "The Amazing Race"

and you're never gonna forget this.

You're always gonna remember this experience.

- Seeing the tears in Carissa's eyes and Billy's eyes,

it pulls at your heart as a parent

because you know how much they wanna compete

and how much they wanna keep going.

What I hope they take out of this

is a sense of perseverance and a sense of optimism

and no matter what they do in their lives,

no matter where you are, you keep trying,

you keep fighting and you never give up.

[gentle dramatic music]

- [Phil] Stay tuned for scenes from our next episode.

On the next episode of "The Amazing Race...

Tony Paolo can't keep his head above water.

- Go. - Something's wrong.

- Dad, don't drown. - Oh.

- Come on. - I can't.

- [Phil] And Wally Bransen loses patience

with his daughters.

- Take your time, we have a phone,

we were doing it and you're running out the door.

Where are we going?
