- [Beth] Cammie, today at school we learned lots of things

and I didn't think the bell would ever ring.

- [Cammie] I had a busy day too Beth.

Now it feels good to just sit around.

- Uh huh but it would be more fun

make a sound like that before.

- It's coming from the tool shed.

- Oh.

- [Sarah] I wonder what it could be.

- Oh well, there's only one way to find out.

Come out, come out whoever you are.

- [Kids] Whoa, BJ.

- Hi guys, how's it going?

- Good, can we help carry things BJ?

- Oh thanks, I think I have too much stuff here.

- What's all of this for?

- Mr. Boyd said I could borrow these tools

to build my very own, totally awesome,

completely cool house.

- Oh, a house?

And where are you going to build it?

- He's going to build it right here.

(children talking excitedly)

Hi Barney, hi everybody.

Hello.

- Oh, it looks like you really could build a house

with all of this.

- But how will you know what to do?

- Ha ha, no problem.

I have it all right up here.

- In your hat?

- No sissy, in my head.

See, I've been using my imagination.

- Oh great, then I bet you've got lots of fun ideas.

- Oh man, I sure do.

♪ A basketball court and a racecar track ♪

♪ A popcorn popper if I need a snack ♪

See I thought of everything.

- Oh, your house does sound great BJ.

- Oh it will be, cause I'm gonna build it

just the way I want, all by myself.

- With just one helper.

- With just one, huh?

- Well, you said I could be the helper.

- Oh yeah.

Well, let's get started.

- Can we watch?

- Well, I'd sorta like to surprise you

when it's all finished.

- Well, why don't we come back in a little while

and you can show us what you've done?

- Oh, that'd be great.

- Okay.

(children talking excitedly)

- Bye bye.

- I think I'd like a house like BJ's making.

- But you live in a very nice house Sarah.

- [Kids] Yeah, you sure do.

- Thank you but it's not very big.

- My house is pretty big

but we've got a really big family.

- Oh, and a very nice family.

- Thank you.

- [Barney] You're welcome.

- I like living in an apartment.

- Well I live in a house and an apartment.

One with my mom and the other with my dad.

- Oh, we have houses and apartments here in our neighborhood

but there are lots of different kinds of homes

all around the world.

Let's take a look.

All right, here we go.

♪ And maybe it's a little house ♪

♪ Or a big house

(children talking excitedly)

- Can I play with you?

- [Kids] Of course you can Baby Bop.

- But I thought you were helping BJ.

- Well, he said I can't help anymore.

- Why not?

- He got mad because I said, "It's going to fall down".

(wood crashing)

- [BJ] I'm fine, I'm fine, I meant to do that.

- You know, BJ's house may not look much

like the ones we just saw.

- Well since he's using his imagination

maybe BJ's house will look more like

one of the funny houses in Mother Goose rhymes.

(children talking excitedly)

- Oh, I'd like to see those.

- Okay Baby Bop, we're ready now.

- Oh goody, I can't wait.

- Then here we go.

- [Barney] Oh boy.

Peter Peter, pumpkin eater

had a wife and couldn't keep her

he put her in a pumpkin shell

and there he kept her very well.

- Hello, cute.


That's a cute house.

- [Barney] There was a crooked man

and he went a crooked mile.

He found a crooked sixpence

beside a crooked style.

He bought a crooked cat

which caught a crooked mouse

and they all lived together

in a crooked little house.

- Whoa, now I'm walking crooked.

- [Barney] Oh my.

There was an old woman

who lived in a shoe.

She had so many children

she didn't know what to do.

She gave them some soup

and slices of bread.

She hugged them and kissed them

and put them to bed.

- Oh, that's cute.

That's a really big shoe.

- [Barney] A cat came fiddling out of the barn.

With a pair of bagpipes under her arm.

She could sing nothing but fiddle dee dee.

The mouse has married the bumblebee.

Pipe, cat, dance, mouse,

we'll have a wedding at our good house.

- And we'll all have fun at my good house.

- At my good house.

- At my good house.

- At my good house.

- Oh yay, oh I like all those houses.

- Me too.

Oh everyone did a great job.

(children talking excitedly)

- Oh hi guys.

- [Barney] Oh hi BJ.

- Hi.

- Man, oh my aching back and everything else.

- Are you finished building your house BJ?

- Oh not yet, I'm just taking a break.

It takes a long time to build a house.

- Well we made four houses.

A pumpkin, a crooked house, a shoe, and a barn.

- Oh, well I'm sure they were nice

but my house is gonna be way cooler

than anything you've ever seen.

My house will have everything.

- Oh, that will take a long time to build.

A house has so many important parts.

- It does?

Oh yeah, I mean it does.

Like what kind of parts?

- Um, Cammie would you please get that puzzle

from the shelf?

- Okay.

- Okay.

Maybe I can show you with this puzzle.

- I love puzzles Barney.

- [Barney] Oh thank you Cammie.

- [Cammie] You're welcome.

- Now let's see here, um.

Oh inside most houses there are special rooms

for doing different things.

- Here's the family room.

At my house, I sit in the family room

with my grandparents and they tell stories.

- Well, my favorite room's the kitchen

at least when I'm hungry.

- [Girl] Yeah, when I'm hungry too.

- A kitchen?

Oh yeah, I should definitely build a kitchen.

I'll see ya later guys.

- Okay.

- [Everyone] Bye.

- Bye bye BJ, oh my.

- He sure was in a hurry.

- Maybe he's hungry like I am.

- [Kids] Yeah, me too.

- Well maybe we should look in our kitchen for a snack.

- Oh maybe we should.

- Tony and I will set the table.

- Oh great, I'll go find something.

Oh, now let's see.

Does our kitchen have everything we need?

- I think so.

- There's a refrigerator.

- It keeps food cold.

- [Barney] Oh yes it does.

- And here's a stove

where you can cook.

- Right, and if it was a real stove

we'd need to be very careful

because stoves can get very hot.

- But Barney, since it's not a real stove

how can we make a real snack for everyone?

- Oh, it's not hard.

After all, I brought my lunchbox today.

- [Kids] Wow, look at that.

- And there's enough macaroni and cheese


to share with everyone.

- [Everyone] Yay.

- And it looks yummy.

♪ I like pizza and I like peas

♪ But most of all

♪ I like mac n cheese

♪ Macaroni macaroni mac n cheese ♪

Baby Bop, she loves macaroni.

All the birdies live in trees.

Did everybody get enough to eat?

- [Everyone] Oh yes, sure did.

- [Barney] Oh good.

- Yes, and it was very, very good.

- It was mac a yummy.

- I'll clean up the table.

- And I'll help.

Doing the dishes is one of my chores at home.

- My chores are taking out the trash,

putting away my dirty clothes,

and keeping the bathroom clean.

- Oh, does the house in our puzzle have a bathroom?

- Oh, I'm sure it does.

The bathroom is very important

because it's where we go to get nice and clean.

- Here it is.

See, there's a sink, a toilet, and a bathtub.

- Oh, I wish we had a bathtub right now.

- Why?

- Because I got some macaroni on my hands

and my nose and my tummy.

- Then you really do need a nice bubble bath.

Whoa.

There ya go.

(children talking excitedly)

- Ha ha, look at all the bubbles.

- [Barney] Oh my.

♪ Sometimes I splash too much

♪ I hope I won't get in trouble ♪

♪ But when I take a bath

♪ It's so much fun

♪ Watching bubble after bubble after bubble ♪

♪ Oh when you're splashing around ♪

♪ It is fun to pretend

♪ You're a fish, you're a froggy, you're a duck ♪

a bathroom is very important in a house.

- [BJ] A bathroom?

- Uh huh.

- [BJ] Oh man.

- I think we've almost finished our house puzzle.

But look, there's two spaces left and only one piece.

- Oh well there must be one missing.

Did you leave any pieces on the shelf Cammie?

- I don't think so.

- What piece do you have Beth?

- It's the bedroom, see?

- [Barney] Oh that's another very important room.

A bedroom is a cozy place to sleep

and a place to keep your favorite things.

- Look, I made a bedroom all by myself.

- [Barney] Oh, let's go see.

(children talking excitedly)

- Come on, it's for the baby.

- Oh, this looks very cozy.

- Is the baby sleepy?

- Uh huh, would you sing her a lullaby please?

- Okay.

- That was pretty.

- That's funny, there's something in her bed.

Let's see if it fits.

- [Girl] Wow, it's a family.

- Of course, because it's a family

that really makes a house a home.

- [Everyone] Yeah.

(bell ringing)

- Hey guys, my house is finished, come see.

- BJ, quiet.

The baby is sleeping.

Let's go see BJ's house.

Okay come on, this way.

Very quiet.

(upbeat music)

- Come on, come look close.

All right, Barney what do you think?

- BJ, it's stupendous.

Oh my good job.

- Thanks, and it has it all.

- Look, he built a whole kitchen.

- Yeah, do you like the shower?

- Yeah, I like the ducks on it.

And you even have a bedroom.

- Oh my, oh this is great.

Oh BJ it really looks like your house has everything.

- Yeah, I guess so.

But I keep thinking I forgot something.

- Where's my room?

Isn't there a place for me?

- Oh I forgot.

Sorry sissy.

- Oh.

- Oh man.

- BJ, I think your house is sort of like the puzzle

we were putting together.

The one missing piece is family.

- [Kids] Yeah, I think you're right Barney.

- Yeah, you guys are right.


Hey sissy.

- What?

- Oh sissy, I'll make a special place

for your blankie and your dolls

and your stuffed cat.

- And you'll put my name on the door?

- Huh?

Yeah, sure.

It'll be BJ and sissy's totally awesome,

completely cool house, okay?

- Um, well, okay.

(everyone cheering)

- Oh BJ, you should be very proud of your house.

And I'm proud of you

for sharing it with Baby Bop.

- If I had a brother, I'd want him to be just like you BJ.

- Aw shucks.

- Well, it just goes to show

that whether you live in a great big house.

- Or a cute little house.

- Right, or if you live in an apartment,

what makes it special is the love we share

with our families and our very special friends.

Just like you.
