[THEME MUSIC PLAYS]

[BELL TOLLING]

The plane, the plane!

[GIGGLING]

- Good morning, boss.
- Good morning, Tattoo.

[♪♪♪♪♪]

[GIRLS GIGGLING]

ROARKE: Smiles,
everyone, smiles!

[BAND PLAYS]

Ah, Mr. Jack Oberstar,

a very successful businessman
from Denver, Colorado.

TATTOO: He
looks, kind of uptight.

What's his fantasy?

ROARKE: To go back
in time to World w*r II.

What does he want
to be, a dead hero?

No, my friend, he
wants to find proof

that his older brother
was not the coward

history has judged him to be.

Unfortunately, he may be
risking his life for nothing.

TATTOO: I know her, boss.

She's one of the reporters
for that TV news magazine.

Quite right, Tattoo.

Miss Christine Connelly
of Expose America.

One of the most popular
television programs

of that country.

TATTOO: Uh-oh, is she
out to get one of our guests?

No, my friend,
she's out to get me.

What do you mean, boss?

She intends to prove
that Fantasy Island...

-is a fraud. -What? Boss!

My dear guests, I am
Mr. Roarke, your host.

Welcome to Fantasy Island.

[♪♪♪♪♪]

[♪♪♪♪♪]

JACK: No, no,
no, no, Mr. Roarke,

I knew my brother. No.

You see, he was
everything to our family.

[SIGHING]

After our father
d*ed, Kenny took over.

[SIGHS] He took
two jobs to support us.

Lord, he even put
me through college.

You see, there wasn't a selfish
nor a cowardly bone in his body.

Yet, in my research
to prepare your fantasy,

I find the Army accused him
of abandoning his command

on the fire, deserting,
and then engaging

in black marketeering
in Europe after the w*r.

They had no proof.

No one who knew
Kenny ever saw him again

after that day near Anzio.

You think he was
k*lled in action?

Yes, I do, Tattoo.

And over the years,

especially while our
mother was still alive,

I've tried to prove
his innocence.

Unfortunately, I've
been unsuccessful.

And the grief that
that caused our mother

let her to lose hope and
eventually contributed

to her early death.

I hope your fantasy
fulfills all your expectations,

Mr. Oberstar.

-Tattoo? -Follow me, please.

In here, please.

[DOOR CLOSING]

I will grant your
fantasy, Mr. Oberstar,

provided you fully
understand the very real danger

to which you'll be exposed
by entering a wartime situation.

Yes, yes, yes, yes. I
understand. I'm ready.

Then think of your brother.

Think very hard.

Focus your mind on his
face as you remember it.

Think back,
Mr. Oberstar, to .

The allied forces
landed at Anzio.

And by February th,
were driving a wedge

into the middle
of the general line.

However, there were small
pockets of fierce resistance.

Now, Mr. Oberstar...

now... look at the
photograph on the wall.

Concentrate on it.

Because it was here in
this small Italian village

that your brother
was last seen alive.

He will be here.

And I trust you will
find the answers

to all your questions.

[FOOTSTEPS APPROACHING]

JACK: I'm here.

I'm really here.

[AIRPLANE MOTOR ROARING]

[g*n f*ring]

ROARKE: Please
have a seat, won't you?

CHRISTINE: No,
I'll just be a minute.

ROARKE: All right,
how may I be of service?

Well, I thought that
if it's okay with you,

I would interview some
of your guests on camera.

- You have no objections, do you?
- If they have none, I have none.

-Good. -Yeah.

Hmm.

Then I thought...
Oh, this is lovely.

Then, I thought I
might interview you...

because I would like
the audience to watch you

as you respond.

Boss, she's hoping you get mad,

so you throw her
out of your office,

while the camera is rolling.

No, I'm afraid I'll
have no such luck.

My research tells me that
Mr. Roarke has his emotions

totally under
control at all times.

Like all good con artists.

Just what did your research
entail, Miss Connelly?

Well, mainly, I just
interviewed some of your clients.

Some of your guests that
have been here before.

Would you like to know
how many? Eleven.

Do you know how many
dissatisfied customers you had?

Hmm? None.

Well, then, may I
ask why you are here?

Well, because my
experience tells me

that there is no such thing
as satisfied customers.

So, I don't know what you
did, whether you drugged them,

whether you hypnotized
them or maybe even both.

[SCOFFS] But I
intend to find out.

Thanks.

And now, ladies and gentlemen,
from Venice, California,

Mr. Truck Sheehy.

[CROWD APPLAUDING]

Mr. Sheehy will be
attempting to lift pounds,

a new world's record.

Well, not knowing that
this young man has been

on our production
staff at Expose America,

Mr. Roarke, owner-operator
of the Fantasy Island,

has promised to
grant his fantasy

to become the strongest
man in the world.

And, Jay, could you
tell us just how long

you have been a production
assistant on our staff?

Uh, about two years, Christine.

And you have never lifted
weights before, is that right?

I mean, no less entered
a weightlifting contest,

-is that true? -Uh,

- I'm not exactly the type.
- [CHRISTINE CHUCKLING]

Now, let's get back to the
weightlifting competition

and see what happens.

- Okay, cut.
- [INDISTINCT CHATTER]

Any problems?

- Clean take all the way.
- All right.

Uh, let's go out and set
up in front of the stage,

all right? And, you,
good luck. [CHUCKLES]

-Uh, thanks. [CHUCKLES] -Okay.

ROARKE: And now, I must ask you

- for absolute silence, please.
- Now, move in. All right.

[GRUNTS]

-MAN: Oh. -WOMAN: Oh.

[BREATHING DEEPLY]

MAN: Oh!

[PANTS]

MAN: He's got it.

-[GRUNTING] -MAN: All right.

MAN : Yeah! He did it.

-[CROWD EXCLAIMING] -[GRUNTS]

MAN: He's got it.

The judges are indicating
that Mr. Sheehy has succeeded

in lifting pounds
for a new world's record.

[CROWD EXCLAIMS, APPLAUDS]

Only one contestant stands
now between Mr. Sheehy

and the championship.

Ladies and gentlemen,
here is that final contestant,

a virtual unknown
from Chandler, Ohio,

Mr. Jay Michaels.

[CROWD APPLAUDING, LAUGHING]

[INDISTINCT CHATTER]

CHRISTINE: Ladies and
gentlemen, you're about to see

Fantasy Island exposed
on Expose America.

[CROWD LAUGHING]

MAN: Oh!

What is this guy?

In this, his first and
final attempt of the day,

Mr. Michaels will try to
break the world's record

by lifting five pounds
more than Mr. Sheehy.

Five. Let's make that .

Let's go for the
whole full hilt.

-MAN : Oh, man! -MAN : No!

Fifty pounds for a
total of pounds,

ladies and gentlemen.

I again must ask you for
complete silence, please.

[INDISTINCT CHATTER]

Uh, Mr. Michaels?

- [MEN LAUGHING]
- MAN: What's he doing?

Uh, Mr. Michaels, it
is customary to chalk

your hands first.

-[CLEARS THROAT] -Tattoo?

-There it is, boss. -Thank you.

[INDISTINCT CHATTER]

[MAN LAUGHING]

-MAN: Whoo! -[PEOPLE WHISTLING]

-[GRUNTS] -[CROWD GASPS]

[CLEARS THROAT]

[GRUNTS]

WOMAN: How did he do that?

-[GRUNTS] -[CROWD MURMURING]

[CROWD MURMURING]

The judges have confirmed
it, ladies and gentlemen,

Mr. Jay Michaels has lifted
the record-breaking pounds

- to win the championship.
- [CROWD APPLAUDING]

I did it, I did it! I
don't believe it! I did it!

I did it! I don't
believe it, I did it!

That's impossible!
This is great, yes!

Yeah, I did it. All right, then!

Yay. I did it! I
did it! I did it!

I don't believe it, I did it!

[GASPS]

[KEN COUGHING]

[PANTS]

Kenny?

-Kenny, it's you. -Jack?

Jack!

What the hell are
you doing here?

What's the matter, did you
think I was gonna let you

- win the w*r by yourself?
- How the hell did you get here?

You mean you never
heard of reinforcements?

[EXHALES SHARPLY]

Not here. [SIGHS]

It's taken us two weeks
to push a lousy half mile

of the beach. We've been cut
off and pinned down on this street

for two days.

I've only got eight men
left out of a whole company.

Do you understand how
many dead men that is?

I...

-[b*mb expl*si*n IN
DISTANCE] -[KEN GRUNTS]

[MACHINE g*n f*ring]

Now, listen, we'd
better get out of here.

You see those men
over there in that building?

-JACK: Yeah. -KEN: Okay,

when I say "go", I want
you to run as fast as you can

and stay with me.

[DISTANT MISSILES WHISTLING]

Go!

FRANK: Look, Mr. Roarke,
I've seen two plane loads

of passengers
come and go already

and my ex-wife hasn't
been on either one of them.

Maybe you can't
handle my fantasy.

Patience, Mr. Thomas.
Patience, please.

So, you were divorced
after years of marriage

and now you feel you've
made a mistake, huh?

I'd do anything to
get Connie back.

Trouble is she moved away
the day the divorce was final.

I don't know where
she is or how she'd feel

about reconciliation.

Yours is not an easy
fantasy, Mr. Thomas.

Look... if you can't
get my ex-wife and me

back together again,
why don't you just

give me back my money and
we'll forget the whole thing.

I said it would be
difficult, not impossible.

Go back to your bungalow,
Mr. Thomas, and try to relax.

Your fantasy will be granted.

I promise you.

[EXHALES SHARPLY]

-[SIGHS] -[DOOR CLOSING]

Boss, I'm worried.

What if you can't
make his fantasy work?

We do seem to be
having our difficulties,

don't we, Tattoo?

Yes.

We also have that woman
snooping around the island

waiting for us to fail.

We got to do something.

Yes, my friend, I quite agree.

I quite agree.

I know this may sound
strange to you guys,

but the last time I
looked at those barbells,

they felt very, very heavy.

And when I set them down,

they nearly went
through the floor.

Come on, Jay, you
know you didn't lift

six hundred twenty
pounds out there.

Hey, now, wait a
minute, you guys,

they couldn't have
switched that barbell on me.

Everybody was watching.

Everybody on that
stage was pretending.

This contest was rigged
from the beginning to the end.

Yeah, maybe you guys are right.

Well, I guess I'll be leaving.

Come on, Jay.

I mean, after all, some
of these actors that he has

walking around here, have
me going pretty good too.

[SIGHS]

So long, Jay.

FRANK: Want your
usual, Christine?

-[SIGHS] What? -Your usual.

Oh, no, no. I have a lot
of writing to do tonight.

[SIGHS]

I hope no one saw
me come in. [SIGHS]

Well, if the word
gets back to Roarke,

he'll just think
I'm interviewing

a dissatisfied customer.

There's no chance
he could actually

find my ex-wife.

- Is there?
- If the FBI couldn't get

a line on her, how
could Roarke possibly?

And that's a good thing.

[CHUCKLES] Because
that footage we got on Jay

doesn't exactly prove
Roarke is a fake.

So, if he doesn't come
through with my fantasy,

- we got him.
- CHRISTINE: Correction.

When he doesn't come through
with your fantasy, we got him.

You guys enjoy yourselves.

I think Jay needs
a little cheering up.

[ALL CHUCKLE]

There's no way a lousy,
little, dirt ball like you

could have b*at
me in that contest.

No way!

You know it and I know it.

And very soon, those
judges better know it.

-Catch on? -Hey!

Hey, you stop that! Come
on, now, you put him down!

Put him down!

- Are you all right?
- Yeah. [SIGHS]

-[SIGHS] You all right? -Yeah.

You know, he thinks I cheated.

- He thinks I rigged the contest.
- He doesn't think anything.

He does exactly what Roarke
tells him to do at all times.

-Yeah? -Yeah.

- You sure about that?
- I'm positive about that.

JAY: Then, uh, what about her?

Wait a minute, that can't be.

That's... that's Connie.
That's Frank's ex-wife.

[expl*si*n IN DISTANCE]

[expl*si*n IN DISTANCE]

I know that look, Ken.

What's bothering you
besides the whole w*r?

[expl*si*n IN DISTANCE]

I've seen so many
good men k*lled

in the past few days, Jack.

I knew almost all of them.

Every time I gave an order,

I knew some of
those men would die

and there wasn't a damn
thing I could do to stop it.

But they're soldiers.

They know that.

Oh, little brother...

if that only made a difference.

Now, I have to worry about you.

About the last thing
in the world I needed,

would be you to be here.

[expl*si*n IN DISTANCE]

Oh, Jack.

[SIGHS] I'm still
glad to see you.

Even here.

How's Mom holding up?

Mom?

Just like always.

You know Mom,

always bragging about you
to whoever will lend an ear.

Back in Stafford, Kansas,
you're a pretty big hero.

Hey, Kenny.

Maybe you will get
the help that you need.

Yeah.

Maybe's the word.

I just have this
feeling that none of us

are ever going to live to
get to the end of this street.

Or any other street.

[expl*si*n IN DISTANCE]

[PHONE RINGING]

-[CAPTAIN SPEAKING
ON PHONE] -Sir?

- Yeah?
- CIMINO: It's the captain.

[KEN GRUNTING]

Oberstar, sir.

[CAPTAIN SPEAKING
INDISTINCTLY OVER PHONE]

Do you know what
you're asking, sir?

[CAPTAIN CONTINUES SPEAKING
INDISTINCTLY OVER PHONE]

Yes, sir. Eighteen
hundred hours.

[CAPTAIN CONTINUES SPEAKING
INDISTINCTLY OVER PHONE]

I understand.

[expl*si*n IN DISTANCE]

The captain says we're
going to have to make due

with the men we have.

Division wants this town
for headquarters... by tonight.

[SIGHS]

It's up to us to knock
out those machine g*ns.

How we going to do
that? Krauts will eat us up.

We'll do as we're
ordered, Sergeant.

Like always.

Yes, sir.

[g*n CLICKING]

Okay, the first thing
we're gonna do is

move a little closer.

You see that wine shop

on the other side
of the t*nk there.

I hope you got a
plan in mind, sir?

That's right, Sergeant, I do,
but first we're going to move.

Cimino, you and Galloway
are going to go first.

Get ready.

When I say go, you move.

Go!

[MACHINE g*n f*ring]

When I fire, you go.

Go!

[MACHINE g*n f*ring]

I'm never going to
be able to figure out

how you got here today, Jack.

Maybe some kind of a miracle.

Somehow I know
you don't belong here.

Just call it fate.

You just call it
whatever you want.

But you don't move a muscle.

You just stay right
here until we knock out

those two machine grenades.

I'll see you, kid brother.

[MACHINE g*ns f*ring]

Kenny, wait!

[MACHINE g*ns f*ring]

- JAY: You can stop worrying.
- [CHRISTINE STIRRING DRINK]

Christine, here he comes now.

[GASPS] Hi, Frank!

How'd it go? I
mean, with Connie?

If you mean did we
get back together,

no chance.

She's getting married again,

which changes the
terms of our settlement.

Coming out here to talk to
me was her lawyer's idea.

Oh, thank God!

I mean, I'm sorry, Frank, but...

I just found out our
boss is going to be here

this afternoon.

-Walter Morlin? -Yes.

[SIGHS] I think he found
out how over budget I am

on this show.

Up till now, I didn't
think I had a show.

Thanks, Frank.

Come on, sit down. Now,
we'll get you on camera.

I'll get Frosty to set up

and you can tell the whole
world what a fraud Roarke is.

Yeah, come on, sit
down, I'll get another chair.

[GROANING]

TRUCK: You got two choices.

Either tell those
judges you cheated

or go look for a mortician.

[GROANS]

JAY: Oh, boy. [SIGHS]

- Is that guy really an actor?
- Oh, yes.

It's part of the whole scam.

[g*nshots]

I warned you,

it would be a most dangerous
fantasy, Mr. Oberstar.

What are you doing here?

Let me just say I had a feeling
my presence would be useful.

Besides...

I believe there is a,

shall we say, secret
part of your fantasy

that you neglected
to mention to me.

I don't know what
you're talking about...

Mr. Oberstar, you
cannot change the past.

If indeed your brother did
commit an act of cowardness,

you cannot change
that fact any more

than you can change the fact
that those men are going to die.

[expl*si*n IN DISTANCE]

But Ken is my brother.

And he's right over
there. And he is alive.

There's got to be
something that...

Mr. Roarke?

Mr. Roarke?

There's got to be something.

[GRUNTS]

[MACHINE g*ns f*ring]

-[MEN GRUNTING] -Hold your fire!

[PANTS]

You never did listen
too good, did you?

So, I got lonesome. [PANTING]

Oh, you little brat. [CHUCKLES]

ROARKE: I dropped by to
see if you would like to come

to the party I'm having
for my guests tonight.

CHRISTINE: Oh, the
party. Sounds wonderful.

- Would you like to sit down?
- Oh, thank you.

-Please. -Thank you.

Can I get anybody anything?

- Oh, no. Thank you.
- No, no, thank you.

[ROARKE SIGHS]

[SIGHS] Connie.

I hear you're getting
married in two weeks.

Yes. [CHUCKLES] Two
weeks from today, in fact.

Hmm.

Well, frankly, I never
could quite understand

why you and Frank
decided to quit.

[STAMMERS] You seemed
to be so happy together.

But if this is working out
for you, I want you to know

I'm very happy for you.

[CHUCKLES] Thank you.

Uh, forgive me for
asking, Mrs. Thomas,

and please don't feel you
have to answer, of course,

but why did you get divorced?

Frank was seeing another woman.

Frank?

-He was? -Oh...

he tried to tell me it was
strictly a business relationship

but, uh...

I knew better.

Did you know the other woman?

Look, I'd, uh...

really rather not
talk about this.

In fact, Mr. Roarke, I
think that my coming

to your party is not
a very good idea.

No, wait a minute.

Look, if you're worried
about running into Frank,

don't be.

Why don't you just think
about the wedding coming up

in two weeks and come
on, have a good time.

I know I'm going
to have a good time

because I love farewell parties.

We're going to divide
into two squads, Sergeant.

You take one, I take the other.

Yes, sir.

Your job's going to be to
get the Germans' attention

and keep it.

As soon as you start f*ring,

we'll try and move in close
and hit them with grenades.

Yes, sir.

Um...

excuse me for,
uh, saying so, sir...

but all your plan is going
to do is get us all k*lled.

The Germans are
waiting on us out there.

I wish I knew a better way.

But I don't.

So, at precisely hours,
you'll begin your diversion,

Sergeant, as ordered.

Yes, sir.

Henderson, you,
you, go with Galloway.

Cimino and you other
two, you go with me.

You got thirty minutes.

Now, let's get ready.

[MOUTHING]

Hi.

Hi.

American?

Red, white and blue
all the way, sweetheart.

I've come to liberate you.

-Ple... please. -No, it's okay.

Shh, keep quiet.

- No, please.
- Do it nice and friendly.

[WHIMPERS] No, no.

Galloway's right, you know.

They are out
there waiting for us.

They'll probably get
us just like they got

all the others.

I just hope I have
the guts to do

what I have to do out there.

[WOMAN SCREAMING]

What? What's the matter, huh?

[JACK GRUNTING]

Just hold it!

If we live through this thing,

you can tell all about
it at your court-martial.

[expl*si*n IN DISTANCE]

[EXHALES SHARPLY]

Cimino, you speak
the lady's language,

you go over there and
apologize to her for Uncle Sam.

Tell her if she
hides out tonight,

the battalion oughtta be
here by then and she'll be safe.

Yes, sir.

You got ten minutes, Sergeant.

Well, I had this
microphone open, you see,

and he didn't
know I had it open,

- so you can imagine. [CHUCKLES]
- [ROARKE CHUCKLES]

JAY: Oh, excuse
me for interrupting.

-Oh, Jay. -Hello, Mrs. Thomas.

- Hi, Jay.
- Uh, Walter Morlin is here.

Oh, all right.

Walter Morlin, that's my boss.

[GASPS] You don't mind

if he comes to the
party tonight, do you?

- Oh, I'd be delighted.
- Well, good.

Then, he can watch me wrap
up my story on you in person.

[CHUCKLES] Jay, grab a chair.

-Okay. -Sit down.

-[JAY GROANS] -[ALL GASP]

He's going to k*ll me.

He knows I didn't
tell the judges.

Why didn't you?

Because it's the only
contest I ever won.

And I won that
contest fair and square.

I was going to give this
later to you as a souvenir,

but perhaps you
better use it instead.

- [CHRISTINE GASPS]
- [CONNIE SHRIEKS]

[GASPS]

[TRUCK GRUNTS]

[JAY GRUNTING]

- [CONNIE SHRIEKS]
- All right, Jay!

[GUESTS APPLAUDING]

I did it! I b*at him
in a fair fight, I did it!

I got my fantasy. I'm the
world's strongest man!

This is great! I
can't believe this!

This... Well, it's not
all bad here, yes!

[LAUGHS] This is very nice.
Thank you, that was nothing.

It really wasn't anything
at all. [LAUGHING]

[g*nshots IN DISTANCE]

[MACHINE g*ns f*ring]

[MACHINE g*ns f*ring]

Listen up.

As soon as Galloway and
his men start f*ring, we go.

Get as close as you
can to that building.

If we get lucky, we may
hit their a*mo supply

and blow up the
whole damn thing.

I hope you guys
played a lot of baseball.

What the hell is keeping him?

GALLOWAY: I'm
getting out of here.

I'm staying alive.

- [g*n sh*ts]
- Better yet, we all go.

That way nobody talks.

Galloway?

[g*nshots]

[SIGHS]

Well, I guess it's up to us now.

I'm sorry, little brother.

Okay, come on, let's go.

Let's go!

[MACHINE g*ns f*ring]

[MACHINE g*ns f*ring]

[GRUNTING]

[PANTS]

No, Kenny!

[MACHINE g*ns f*ring]

No!

You have seen the truth
as it really happened,

Mr. Obertsar.

And now, it's over.

But Kenny was k*lled in
action. He was a w*r hero.

At least, let me get some proof.

Oh, I'm sorry,
Mr. Oberstar, but...

Please.

Don't you see, if I can
get Kenny's dog tags,

then I can prove the remains
they found in those ruins

were really his.

Then, they'll have
to do something.

They'll have to investigate.

All right.

Two minutes.

Galloway?

Kenny?

Peter A. Galloway?

[SOBS]

It was so simple. [SNIFFLES]

All these years, he
just switched tags.

Oh, Kenny.

[SOBS]

[SOFT MUSIC PLAYING]

[INDISTINCT CHATTER]

This is all very
lovely, Mr. Roarke,

but I'm still going to nail you.

As far as Frank Thomas is
concerned, you struck out.

The reason I haven't
been able to bring him

and his ex-wife back together
is because I need help.

-Your help. -[CHUCKLES] My help?

Well, after all, the
woman Mrs. Thomas thinks

her husband is seeing

is you.

Me?

Well, from the way Mrs.
Thomas acted in your bungalow,

I thought it was quite obvious.

Me?

-Mr. Roarke? -Yes, sir?

Walter Morlin, news
director UBS Network.

Oh. How do you do, sir?

So, you're the man that
makes, uh, fantasies come true.

Well, it looks as
though Expose America

is about to bring your
operation to a well-deserved end.

Right, Christine?

Wrong. [SIGHS]
Come with me, Frank.

Why don't you consider
having your honeymoon here?

Connie,

I swear to you I never
so much as kissed Frank

or wanted to, let alone
have an affair with him.

So, now, if that is the reason
why you two had a divorce,

I mean, you've got to
tell him, because if it was,

my God, that was really stupid.

[SIGHS]

Now, Christine,
what was I to think?

I mean, he came home late
just about every single night.

Because he is the most
dedicated, hardworking

tape editor I have ever
been blessed with in my life.

Believe me.

[SIGHS]

Frank...

It's true, honey.

[CROWD APPLAUDING]

Oh, Frank.

You realize what they're doing?

Mm-hm. Reconciling.

[SIGHS]

Do you further realize you
spent almost , dollars

proving that Fantasy
Island is legitimate?

Yeah, well, these things happen.

Not on our network, they don't.

Christine, you're fired.

[SIGHS]

I couldn't help but overhear.

Not only did you make
Frank's fantasy come true,

but you used me to do it.

-I'm terribly sorry. -Hmm.

I suppose now you're
going to ask me to dance.

ROARKE: What a
lovely idea. Shall we?

Only if you tell me your secret.

- Will you excuse us, Tattoo?
- [CHUCKLES] Yes, boss. Go ahead.

And don't try to tell me that
you don't have any secrets

because I have
spent years proving

that when something
sounds too good to be true,

ten times out of
ten it isn't true,

no matter how much
I want to believe it.

Ah, so your real
fantasy would be to prove

that Fantasy Island
isn't a fraud, huh?

[CHUCKLING] I suppose so.

Well, look around,
Miss Connelly.

Isn't that precisely
what you've done?

Yeah.

I guess so.

[CHUCKLING]

[SIGHS]

[♪♪♪♪♪]

All I wanted was
some proof, Mr. Roarke.

All I found was the truth.
Somehow that just isn't enough.

Fate works in strange
ways, Mr. Oberstar.

This news report
says that a prisoner

serving a life sentence
for criminal activities,

d*ed yesterday in France.

Yeah. So, what are
you driving at, Roarke?

"A routine fingerprint check
has revealed the true identity

of the prisoner to be...

Peter A. Galloway.

Long presumed dead
in heroic m*llitary action

near Anzio in .

He had apparently assumed
the identity of the real hero...

Lieutenant Ken Oberstar.

The United States government

has ordered a
full investigation."

Thank you, Mr. Roarke.

- Thank you for both of us.
- Yes, sir.

-Goodbye, Tattoo. -Good luck.

Well, I guess this is good-bye.

Does this mean you're
not going to grill me

on national TV anymore?

Grill you on TV? Do
you want her to, Tattoo?

No, but when I told my
aunt I was going to be on TV,

she bought a video recorder.

Well, I'll tell you what,

you give your aunt's
name and address to Frosty

and I will cut together all
of the footage I made of you

and transfer it to a cassette
and we'll send it to your aunt.

Then you can be
on her television set.

Great, fantastic!

I'm terribly sorry
about your job.

No, don't be.

You know, this whole
thing has made me realize

how cynical I have
become. And I hate cynics.

[BOTH CHUCKLE]

Listen, you're not
gonna forget about me

too soon, are you?

There's no danger
of that, Miss Connelly.

- Good-bye, Tattoo.
- Good-bye, thank you very much.

Good-bye, Frosty.

-Bye-bye. -Good-bye.

[CHUCKLES]

Boss, cheer up.

I told them to send
your aunt a cassette too.

[CHUCKLES]
