I'm Diego.

I'm an animal rescuer.

This is my sister Alicia.

Hola.

We built this Catching Machine

so we could practice our super-catch.

Animal rescuers sometimes have to save animals

by catching them when they fall.

Will you help me practice my super-catch?

Great.

Look, a coconut.

Put your hands in the air to catch it.

Catch it!

Another coconut.

Catch it!

Another coconut.

Catch it!

Now, watch me as I catch super fast.

Activating super-fast mode.

(distant chirping)

Hey, that sounds like an animal in trouble.

Let's go see what animal needs our help.

Our special camera Click can help us find

the animal in trouble.

DIEGO & ALICIA: Say "Click."

Diego and Alicia need to find the animal in trouble.

The animal in trouble sounds like this.

Let's zoom through the forest

and listen for the animal that goes...

(neighing)

What animal is that?

A horse.

Right.

Ah-ruff, ah-ruff.

Doesthis sound like the animal in trouble?

No.

That's a maned wolf.

Chirp, chirp.

Does this sound like the animal in trouble?

Yes, it does!

That's a rhea.

Rheas are big birds.

To take a picture of the rhea, say "Click."

(camera shutter clicks)

Got it!

Now, you tell Diego you found a rhea.

What animal did you find?

A rhea?

Rheas are really big birds that live in the grasslands.

To find out why the rhea is in trouble,

we've got to see more of the picture.

We can do that if Click zooms out.

DIEGO & ALICIA: Say "Zoom!"

BIRDS (singsongy): You can't fly, you can't fly.

DIEGO: Oh, no.

The cuckoo birds don't see

that the rhea is getting closer

to the edge of the cliff.

If he gets any closer, he could fall off.

You've got to get to the grasslands quick, Diego,

so you can rescue the rhea.

Right, Alicia.

Will you help me rescue the rhea before he falls?

Great!

¡Al rescate, amigos!

Clap your hands with me.

Clap, clap, clap.

Hey, I hear the cuckoo birds.

We must be close to the rhea.

Do you see the rhea?

There he is.

(singsongy): You can't fly, you can't fly.

DIEGO: And there are the cuckoo birds being mean to him.

We've got to stop the cuckoo birds from teasing the rhea.

Yell "Stop teasing him!"

Louder!

Stop teasing him!

We stopped them.

Good job!

Come here, Rhea.

It's okay.

I wanted to fly

so the cuckoo birds wouldn't tease me anymore.

Cuckoo birds, it's not nice to tease other animals.

You should tell the rhea you're sorry.

We're sorry, Rhea.

Discúlpanos.

That's okay.

You're right.

What good is a bird who can't fly?

(sobs)

Aw... don't feel bad, Rhea.

Not all birds fly.

They don't?

No.

And rheas are great birds.

We are?

Sure.

Rheas can do all kinds of special things.

BOTH: Really?

Of course.

I'll show you.

What can we use to find out more about animals?

The Field Journal!

My Field Journal will help us find out

something cool that rheas can do.

Rheas can run really fast.

Their long legs help them run fast.

(gasp)

When rheas are happy, they love to dance!

They must be in trouble.

BABY CUCKOO BIRDS: Cuckoo, cuckoo.

But they sound so far away.

Cuckoo, cuckoo.

Don't worry.

We'll find them.

My binoculars can help us find the Baby Cuckoos.

Put your hands around your eyes and make binoculars.

If you see a Baby Cuckoo, yell "Cuckoo!"

Look!

A strong windy wind is heading their way!

Their nest could fall.

We've got to rescue the baby cuckoo birds.

We can't fly that fast in the strong windy wind.

We'll never make it.

Don't worry, Cuckoo Birds.

We'll rescue them.

CUCKOO BIRDS: Really?

Rhea, you'll help Diego rescue our brothers?

Sure I will, 'cause I'm an animal rescuer.

Right, Diego? Right!

Yay! Yay!

Diego, if you hop on my back,

I'll run really, really fast

and we'll get to the baby cuckoo birds in no time.

Great idea, Rhea!

'Cause I'm an animal rescuer!

Gracias, Rhea.

We'll catch up to you as soon as we can.

Will you help us rescue the baby cuckoos?

To tell the rhea to run,

we sing the Spanish word,corre.

Those are my uncles.

RHEA: They're getting food.

And look!

On the other side of the river are their nests.

Hola, tíos,

Look, I'm helping Diego.

¡Maravilloso!

(chirping)

(animal growling)

Uh-oh!

That sounds like a puma.

Sobrinito, you have

to protect our nests from the puma.

We can't get to the other side of the river in time.

You've got to hide our eggs!

Don't worry, tíos.

Diego, I have to hide the eggs from the puma.

Look!

Rheas can hide their eggs by sitting on them

and pretending to be a bush.

Like this.

We gotta pretend to be a bush to hide the eggs.

Put your arms over your head to turn into a bush.

Like this.

And bend over.

¡Excelente!

Now we're ready to help the rhea hide the eggs.

DIEGO: When you see a puma, turn into a bush.

Look, a puma.

Put your arms over your head,

bend down, and turn into a bush.

It worked.

The puma thought Rhea was a bush.

Those eggs are safe.

Uh-oh, another puma.

Turn into a bush quick!

The pumas didn't see the eggs and ran away.

ALL: Yay!

You helped the rhea protect the rhea eggs.

Now the eggs are all safe and sound.

Gracias!

(chirping)

Thanks for saving our eggs.

De nada.

You're welcome.

You see, Rhea,

you can pretend to turn into a bush.

That's another cool thing rheas can do.

Yeah, I guess you're right, Diego.

(giggling) (beeping)

Diego!

The windy wind is getting closer to the baby cuckoos.

Cuckoo, cuckoo.

Ayúdenos!

You've got to hurry!

Okay, Alicia.

Rhea can get us there quick.

Right, I'll get us there super quick.

Let's go,amigos.

Let's go save the baby cuckoos.

Look, we're almost to the baby cuckoo birds' tree.

But we've got to go over these slippery rocks.

DIEGO: Uh-oh!

There are snakes on those rocks

and they're sleeping.

Diego, we can get past the sleeping snakes

by tiptoeing over the rocks.

Right.

DIEGO: Rheas have special toes

that help them tiptoe over the rocks.

Let's tiptoe with the rhea.

You have to stand up to tiptoe.

Stand up, please.

Stand up!

Stand up and get ready to tiptoe.

♪ Tiptoe past the sleeping snakes ♪

♪ Up on your toes, that's how we go ♪

♪ Let's all make sure that they don't wake ♪

BABY CUCKOOS: Cuckoo, cuckoo.

Help us! Help us!

We've got to run super fast

to get to the baby cuckoos.

Come on! Run in place.

Run in place!

Run, run, run!

Yay! We made it

to the baby cuckoo birds' tree.

You're great at running super fast like a rhea.

(wind blowing)

Whoa!

The windy wind is getting

stronger and stronger.

Cuckoo, cuckoo.

Help us! Help us!

Uh-oh! The baby cuckoos are gonna fall,

but we can do a super-catch to save them.

Don't worry, Baby Cuckoos.

We'll catch you.

Will you help me catch

the baby cuckoo birds?

Great! Put your hands in the air

to catch the baby cuckoos.

Look! A baby cuckoo!

Catch it!

BABY CUCKOO : ¡Ayúdenme! Help!

DIEGO: Another baby cuckoo.

(screaming): Ah!

DIEGO: One last baby cuckoo.

I'll catch this baby cuckoo

with my long neck, Diego. Cool!

I caught him!

(kissing noises)

The windy wind is going away.
