- ♪ Alicia's on the mission ♪

♪ We're all going for a ride ♪

♪ Diego's on the run ♪

♪ With baby jaguar by his side ♪

♪ Discovering together ♪

♪ Yeah, we're always having fun ♪

- Whee!

- Today we're going to the rain forest in central africa,

Over here.

Hola. I'm diego.

- And I'm alicia.

- And I'm baby jaguar.

Roar! Roar!

- We're in the rain forest in africa

With our friends, the okapis.

- Wow. I've never seen an okapi before.

- That's because we don't have them at home in our rain forest.

They only live in africa.

- Let's all say hello to the okapis.

Say, "hello, okapis."

All: hello! - Hi!

Both: hiya!

- Okapis are one of my favorite animals.

- Aw, thanks, diego.

[Laughs]

- Look, okapis have long necks, big ears,

And...

What do okapis have on their legs?

- Yeah! Stripes!

- Their stripes help them hide in the trees.

- Like this, diego.

Okapis love to hide in the trees, diego.

My brother and I are really, really great at hiding.

- We're the best.

- And we've been playing together...

- Since we were little okapis.

Do you want to play, diego?

- Sure!

Let's play hide-and-seek with the okapis.

- I love hide-and-seek.

- Yeah! Yeah! Yeah!

- Hide-and-seek! - Hide-and-seek!

- Yeah! Hide-and-seek!

- Cover your eyes and get ready to count.

- No peeking. - Yeah, no peeking.

- Cover your eyes, please.

- Let's count to five in spanish.

Count with us.

Both:uno, dos, tres, cuatro, cinco.

- You can open your eyes now.

- Let's look for the okapis.

If you see an okapi, yell, "okapi!"

Both: okapi!

Okapi!

Okapi!

- Hey, I don't see any more okapis.

- Diego, where's okapi and his brother?

- I don't know, alicia.

They must have gone really far to hide.

- Diego, alicia, look.

- Fresh footprints.

- Those look like okapi footprints.

- Okapi and his brother might be lost.

Tenemos que encontrarlos.

- We have to find the okapis

So we can make sure they're okay.

- We'll stay here in case they come back.

- Good idea, alicia.

Vamonos, amigos!

Let's go find the missing okapis!

Whoa. Miren.

All of these trees have been cut down.

The okapis must have gone far away to hide.

Ooh.

There are lots of different animal prints here.

My field journal can show us okapi's footprints.

Okapi footprints look like this.

Which path has okapi footprints?

Si! Let's go!

Look, the okapi footprints end here.

I think one of the okapis is hiding behind that rock.

Let's call out to him.

Say, "okapi!"

- Wow! You found me.

Great job.

Diego, it's really hard to find a hiding spot out here

Because all the trees have been cut down.

- It's okay.

I'll take you back home where there's lots of trees.

Where's your brother, okapi?

- I don't know, diego,

But I bet he went really far to look for trees to hide in.

I really want to find him.

- We'll help you find your brother, okapi.

- But how? How? How?

- Hmm. I know!

Okapis have stripes on their legs.

My spotting scope will help us look for stripes.

Make a spotting scope with your hands

To look for stripes.

If you see stripes, yell, "stripes!"

Stripes!

- Maybe that's my brother!

He's hiding in the tall grass, diego.

- Come on,amigos!

Let's help okapi find his brother.

- So we can go back home where there are lots of trees.

- Let's cheer for the okapi!

Say, "okapi!"

Okapi!

- ♪ Go, diego, go! ♪

♪Vamos, diego, vamos! ♪

♪ Al rescate, amigos ♪

♪ To the rescue, my friends ♪

- Diego, I can't tell if that's my brother.

- Let's see if that animal is an okapi.

Do both animals have stripes on their legs?

Yes. They do.

Look, that animal has stripes all over its body.

Does an okapi have stripes all over its body?

No!

So is that an okapi?

No! What animal is that?

A zebra, right!

- [Barks]

Help!

I was looking for my herd,

And I fell into the wet sand,

And now I'm sinking.

- We have to save zebra.

My mobile rescue unit's super crane

Can help us pull zebra out of the wet sand.

- Vroom! Vroom!

Honk!

- My mobile rescue unit is programmed in spanish.

In english we say, "crane."

In spanish we say,"grua."

To activate the crane, we say,"grua!"

Say,"grua!"

Both:grua!

- We can pull zebra out of the wet sand

Withmi grua.

- Uh-oh. I'm sinking some more.

- We have to turn the crank to pull the zebra out.

Put your hands out like this to hold the crank.

Hold the crank, now turn it.

Turn, turn, turn.

- It's working!

- Keep turning the crank!

Turn, turn, turn!

- Whoo!

Thanks for pulling me out of the wet sand.

Hey, I really like your stripes.

- I like really like your stripes too.

[Laughter]

- Zebra, have you seen okapi's brother?

- He looks just like me, zebra.

- Ooh.

I saw an animal that looked like you.

He was asking if I'd seen any leaves.

Good luck!

- Diego, maybe that's my brother!

My brother loves to eat leaves, and so do i.

[Stomach grumbles]

Actually, I'm kind of hungry, diego.

There aren't any trees with leaves for me to eat out here.

- I might have a snack for okapi in my mobile rescue unit.

These are leaves from a tree

In the rain forest rescue center.

Whoa!

Look at okapi's long purple tongue.

- Yum! Yum! Yum!

Okapis have really long tongues. See?

[Laughter]

- Maybe if we look for an animal with a long purple tongue,

We'll find your brother.

- Great idea, diego.

- My spotting scope will help.

Make a spotting scope with your hands

To look for an animal with a long purple tongue.

Do you see a long purple tongue?

Yeah! There it is!

- Maybe that's my brother, diego.

- Come on!

Let's go find okapi's brother,

So we can take the okapis back home,

Where there's lots of trees.

- And lots of yummy leaves.

-Vamonos, amigos!

- I don't think that's my brother, diego.

[Laughs]

- They both have long purple tongues,

But is that an okapi?

No.

What animal is that?

A giraffe! Right.

It's a baby giraffe.

- That's not my brother.

- Help! Help! I can't move my head.

I'm stuck in these branches.

-Miren.

Baby giraffe is stuck between those tall trees.

We've got to help him.

- Psst!

Diego, he's really, really tall.

How are we going to get up there?

- We need something to help us reach baby giraffe.

Unidad de rescate, listo!

- Vroom! Vroom!

- My mobile rescue unit has a lift

That can take us up high.

To make the lift go up,

We have to stomp on the pedal.

- Like this, diego?

- Yeah!

Okapi, you're a really good stomper.

Let's all stomp our feet on the pedal

So we can get all the way up to baby giraffe.

Get ready to stomp your feet.

Stomp your feet.

Stomp! Stomp! Stomp!

- It's working!

- Keep stomping!

Stomp! Stomp! Stomp!

Great stomping.

Hi, baby giraffe.

- I'm stuck in all these branches.

I am so stuck!

- We've got to pull the branches away from baby giraffe

So he can get free.

- I can help, diego.

My tongue is great for pulling away branches.

- Okapi's pulling with his tongue.

Let's help him and pull with our hands.

Put your hands out and pull.

Pull! Pull!

Again!

Pull! Pull! And pull!

Yay!

We pulled the branches away!

- Thanks for getting me out of the tree.

- Okapis and giraffes are from the same family of animals.

- Like cousins, diego?

- Yeah,son primos.

- Cousin giraffe, have you seen my brother?

- Mm.

I think I saw another okapi

Walking up the rocky mountain.

- Another okapi?

That must be my brother.

Oh, I hope it is. I hope it is.

- Ooh, there's my mommy.

- Let's check the rocky mountain to find the animal with stripes

And a long tongue.

Make a spotting scope with your hands

To look for okapi's brother.

Does that animal have stripes like okapi?

Yeah!

Does the animal have a long tongue like okapi?

Yeah, it does!

Does the animal look just like okapi?

Yes, it does!

That's okapi's brother!

- It's him!

That's my brother,

And he's on top of the mountain.

You found him! Yay!

- Come on,amigos.

Let's go get your brother.

We'll run up the mountain to reach okapi's brother.

- Yeah! Yeah! Yeah!

Come on, diego.

I can't wait to see my brother.

-Vamonos, amigos!

- Which way should we go, diego?

- Roar!

- Uh-oh. That sounds like a leopard.

- A leopard?

Okapis are afraid of leopards.

- We've got to get up the mountain, okapi,

But we don't want to run into that leopard.

We need to know which path to take.

- Diego, okapis have big ears that are great for hearing.

I can listen for the leopard so we know where he is.

- Great idea!

Let's all listen like okapis for the leopard.

- Ribbit! Ribbit!

- Growl! Growl!

- Which path is the leopard on?

Right.

The leopard's on the second path.

We've got to go this way.

- Growl! Growl!

- Which tunnel should we take now, diego?

- Let's listen for the leopard.

Listen.

- Growl! Growl!

- Hoo! Hoo!

- Which tunnel is the leopard in?

The leopard's in the first tunnel.

Right.

Come on. Let's take this one.

We made it to the top.

You're great at listening.

- You found me!

- I love you, brother!

- And I loveyou, brother.

- It's likemi mami always says,

"Nada puede separar a la familia."

Nothing can keep family apart.

- Yeah! Yeah! Yeah!

- I can't wait to get home

So I can play hide-and-seek in the trees

And eat lots of leaves.

Thanks for finding me.

- Yay! We found okapi's brother.

Let's take the okapis back home to the rain forest reserve.

We have to tell the mobile rescue unit

To come get us.

In english we say, "mobile rescue unit."

In spanish we say, "unidad de rescate."

Say,"unidad de rescate."

[Together]unidad de rescate!

- Honk! Honk!

Vroom! Vroom!

Listo!

- Come on,amigos!

Let's take the okapis back home where there's lots of trees.

- Here comes diego.

Diego, you found the okapis.

- Yeah, and we've brought them back home.

- They're back. They're back.

- Welcome home. - My brothers are home.

- [Laughs]

The okapis sure are happy to be together again.

- There are lots of trees here.

Both: and we can play hide-and-seek again.

Thanks, diego.

-De nada.

We brought the okapi brothers

Back to their african rain forest.

- And now they can be with their okapi family.

- Okapi!

- Come on! Say it with us.

Both: okapis!

- Say it louder.

Both: okapis!

- Everybody scream!

All: okapis!

Yay!

- ♪ They live in the rain forest ♪

- ♪ And hide in the trees ♪

- ♪ I've got a really long tongue ♪

♪ So I can get at the leaves ♪

- Come on!

Let's stick out our tongues like okapis.

Stick out your tongue!

Stick out your tongue!

Come on, everyone!

Stick out your tongue.

- ♪ Okapis have stripes ♪

- ♪ And really big ears ♪

- Come on, everybody.

Let's give an okapi cheer!

Both: okapi!

- The okapis are so happy to be back in their rain forest.

Yay!

-Mision cumplida!

- Adventure complete.

- Now the okapis are back home in their rain forest.

You're a great animal rescuer.

What do okapis do?

Both: let's review!

- Does an okapi's legs have spots or stripes?

Right.

They have stripes that help them hide in the trees.

- To reach leaves to eat, do okapis use their long tongues

Or their long tails?

Yeah.

They use their long purple tongues.

- Is an okapi cousins with a giraffe or a monkey?

Correcto.

Giraffes and okapis are like cousins.

- We've almost finished the puzzle.

Did diego bring the okapis back to the desert

Or the rain forest?

Si.

The rain forest, where there are lots of trees.

- Yay! We solved the puzzle!

What is this a picture of?

An okapi!

And look!

Here's a picture of me bringing the okapis back

To the rain forest reserve...

- So that these okapis will always have trees

To hide in and leaves to eat.

- And there are good things we can do to help animals

Every day!

- Like recycling paper, since paper's made from trees,

And lots of animals need trees for food and homes.

- Remember, we all share the same world,

And we can all help take care of it.
