We're really, really far from the rainforest,

in a place where it hardly ever rains.

We're in the desert!

In the country of Egypt.

Diego!

That's my friend, Medina.

She works in the animal rescue center here.

The animals in Egypt are a lot different

from the animals in the rainforest.

Do you want to see them?

Great!

Come on.

Ahlan, Medina.

Ahlan.

In English we say "Hi".

In Spanish we say"Hola."

In Arabic we say"Ahlan."

Say,"Ahlan."

Ahlan.

Welcome to Egypt and my Rescue Center!

I came all the way to Egypt

to learn about desert animals.

What's this animal, Medina?

It's a desert fox.

It's the smallest fox in the world.

And he does well in the hot desert

'cause he doesn't have to drink any water!

Wow!

(purring)

Guess what kind of animal this is.

A kitty cat!

Right, Medina?

Right!

That's a sand cat.

He's got thick fur

on the bottom of his paws

to protect him from the hot sand.

And he doesn't have to drink water either!

They like each other!

(laughing)

Medina,

do any desert animals drink water?

Sure,

there's an animal here

who can drink lots and lots of water.

A whole bathtub full of water!

I bet I know what animal that is.

That's a camel.

And camels have a hump

on their back to store water.

CAMELS: Bleat, bleat!

Help, Help!

What's that, Medina?

Sounds like camels!

And they need our help!

Come on!

Hey, little camels.

This is my friend, Diego.

He's visiting me from the rainforest.

Ahlan, Diego.

What's wrong, camels?

CAMEL: Our river is drying up.

And we're thirsty!

Oh, no! Oh, no!

Camels need water to live.

Mommy, what happened to the river?

It hasn't rained in such a long time,

and it's gotten so hot here

that our river is drying out.

But the camels are thirsty!

Thirsty! Thirsty! Thirsty!

So thirsty! Yeah, we're thirsty! Ooh, thirsty.

Bleat bleat!

There must be some way to get water!

We could ask Jamal the camel.

He knows more about the desert

and how to get water than anyone I've ever met.

Good idea, Medina!

Yeah, yeah!

Jamal's our teacher.

He knows everything.

He's really smart.

He'll find water for us.

Look, there he is!

We've got to call to him.

Let's all call out to the camels' teacher.

Say...

(singsongy): Ja-mal.

DIEGO: Louder!

ALL: Ja-mal.

He heard us.

Good calling.

Ahlan, Medina.

Hello, children.

Good morning, teacher.

What seems to be the trouble?

Jamal, look!

MEDINA: Our river has dried up.

We want water!

We want water!

We want... Children.

Oops.

Sorry, teacher!

That's okay.

And don't worry,

I think I know where we can find water.

A long time ago,

when I was a little camel,

my grandpa told me a story about a Golden Cloud.

This Golden Cloud could make it rain at any time.

And townspeople all over Egypt

would use the Golden Cloud whenever they needed water.

We need water now!

Water, water!

Where is the Golden Cloud now, Jamal?

JAMAL: They say it was hidden in one of the Great Pyramids of Egypt

for safe keeping.

But nobody has seen it for a long time.

Do you think you can find it?

I think I can--

But I'll need your help.

Please help him.

Will you help us find the Golden Cloud?

ALL: Yay!

But where are the pyramids, Medina?

My Radar can help us find the pyramids!

if they haven't had enough food.

I am a bit hungry.

We need to get him food quick.

But there isn't a lot to eat in the desert.

My Field Journal can tell us

what food we can find in the desert for Jamal to eat.

Look, camels can eat thorny plants

from the desert.

That's right.

Camels have super-thick lips.

Thorny plants don't hurt us.

Awesome!

But I don't see any thorny plants.

Do you see any thorny plants?

Yeah. Right there!

I like thorny plants.

Let's help Jamal eat the thorny plant.

DIEGO: Say "Chew, chew, chew!"

So we can bring water to the thirsty camels.

Desert rocks.

We've got to get over these rocks to get to the pyramids.

SCORPIONS: Hey, watch out!

MEDINA: Ooh, there are scorpions on these rocks.

Oh, oh, oh. Don't squash us.

Please don't squash us. Don't squash us.

Don't worry, scorpions.

We'll jump over you.

I'm not a very good jumper, Diego.

That's okay.

We'll help you.

We have to help Jamal jump over the rocks.

To get Jamal to jump, say "Jump."

Say, "Jump."

SCORPIONS: Whoa!

These rocks are higher.

We can do it.

Say it louder.

Jump!

SCORPIONS: Whoa!

Uh-oh, these rocks are really high.

ALL: Don't squash us.

Jamal, you can do it.

We've got to say "Jump" really, really, really loud.

SCORPIONS: Whoa!

We jumped over the rocks and the scorpions.

(beeping)

Hey, that's my Video Watch.

It's my mommy on her Video Phone.

Medina, Diego, the camels are getting really, really, thirsty.

CAMELS (chanting): We want water! We want water!

Have you found the Golden Cloud yet?

Not yet, Mommy, but we're almost to the pyramids.

Well, go as quick as you can.

Come on, children, let's go find the Golden Cloud.

And bring water for the thirsty camels.

Children, I've got some questions for you.

Do you know what animal can drink

a whole bathtub full of water?

ALL: A camel.

but we've got to keep going so we can find the Golden Cloud.

Diego, Medina, I can get us through the sandstorm.

MEDINA: Camels have special double eyelashes

that protect them from sandstorms.

We need something to protect us from the sandstorm.

Just hold it up to the sun, then point it to the pyramids.

will release a rainbow from its tip.

Okay, here I go.

When you see a rainbow coming from one of the pyramids,

yell, "Rainbow!"

The Golden Cloud is in that pyramid.

The entrance is blocked.

We can't walk through these bushes.

They're all thorny.

ALL: A camel!

DIEGO & MEDINA (singsongy): "Chew, chew, chew, chew, chew."

The Golden Cloud is somewhere inside this pyramid.

We have to find it.

But there are

so many paths.

We must study the glyphs on the wall.

Look for a drawing of a cloud, and that will be the path

that will take us to the Golden Cloud.

This drawing is covered with pyramid dust.

Help me blow away the dust.

Blow!

What is it?

A snake! A snake! A snake!

We'd better leave the snakes alone.

Let's keep looking.

Maybe this is the path with the Golden Cloud.

JAMAL: We need to blow harder.

Now we can fill up the river.

And bring water to the thirsty camels.

ALL: Look, it's Jamal, Diego and Medina.

Yay!

Look, Mommy.

We got the Golden Cloud.

I knew you would!

We're so thirsty.

What do we do now, Jamal?

Throw the Golden Cloud into the sky.

Will you help me throw the Golden Cloud into the sky?

Now you have to say the magic word.

The Golden Cloud is filling up the river with water.

Yay! The river is full again.

Yippee! Look at the water!

Water! Water!

Wow! Those camels sure are thirsty.

Oh, yes.

Camels can go a long time without water,

but when we are thirsty, we can drink a lot.

Ah! Ah!

Thank you, Jamal, for helping us get water.

CAMELS: Thank you.

Don't you just love camels?

and filled up the river in Medina's town.
