Narrator:
America's top ghost hunters
Relive their most
Extreme assignments.
[ Woman screams ]
This house is beyond haunted.
Narrator: hardened veterans
Of the paranormal,
These are the cases
That truly tested them.
There was a evil presence
In that house.
Woman: oh, [bleep]
What the hell?
Man: dude,
I got goose bumps.
It's in here.
In ohio,
A paranormal investigator
Is shocked to learn
That the dark entities
Plaguing her mother
May be behind
Her grandmother's death.
Jay: guys, there's [bleep]
Moving around in here!
Get me the [bleep] out!
Narrator: in the great lakes,
An old jail is being haunted
By the violent ghosts
Of former prisoners.
I really didn't feel like
I was alone.
™ªâ™ª
Narrator:
And in texas,
A woman bedridden
By a mysterious illness
Is actually the victim
Of something much more sinister.
Acosta: I never have encountered
A spirit
Claiming that they belong
To the devil.

Narrator: arcadia, ohio,
Resident virginia lewis
Has always dreamt of enjoying
A long and restful retirement.
But her dream
Becomes a nightmare.
For years, she's tormented by
Weird and frightening activity.
She sees black shadows
Darting under the bed.
And strange lights and sounds
Seem to come
From her walk-in closet.
[ Growling ]
One night, tragedy strikes.
Virginia is found on her bedroom
Floor with a fatal head injury.
It looks like she tripped
And fell over her blanket.
Her family is devastated.
I never really got to
Say goodbye to my grandmother.
She was my best friend.
She was my everything.
I think it was a shock
To everybody.
I don't think they really
Quite expected it to happen
In such an odd circumstance.
Narrator:
The shock turns to horror
When jay and marie
Learn of the paranormal activity
That had plagued virginia.
Virginia never really discussed
These things
That were happening with her.
She would only speak
To her daughter about it,
Which is marie's mother.
Narrator: marie's mother
Lived with virginia
But dismissed her stories.
Virginia was getting older,
So I think that, you know,
My mother-in-law just assumed
That she was getting older.
™ªâ™ª
Narrator: the revelation
Hits especially hard
Because jay and marie yates
Are paranormal investigators.
Jay: I've been haunted
My entire life.
I've experienced the paranormal
Ever since I was a child.
To say what my first
Paranormal experience was
Would be difficult because
I had so many as a child.
Narrator:
Spurred by his encounters
And a desire to help others
In the same situation,
Jay founded the crossing over
Paranormal society
With marie in .
It soon becomes clear that
Whatever was tormenting virginia
Is still lurking
Inside the house.
My mother
Actually started experiencing
The exact same thing
My grandmother was hearing.
[ Distorted voice ] deborah.
She would hear someone saying,
"Deb? Deborah? Deborah?"
Jay: she also says
She was seeing shadow figures --
Like,
Masculine shadow figures...
Wake up, deborah.
...just standing there,
Just watching her.
™ªâ™ª
[ Breathing heavily ]
™ªâ™ª
She was very scared.
I was like, "okay, mom,
I think it's time
For us to come into the house."
™ªâ™ª
Narrator: jay and marie
Assemble their team
And arrive at the house.
Marie has never worked on a case
Involving family members before,
So this investigation
Is personal.
Marie: I'm very protective
Of my family.
I was walking in there like,
"Whatever is in here,
You are not messing
With my family,
And you're gonna get out."
Narrator:
Marie's mother leaves the team
To investigate the house.
Before they can set up
Their gear,
Strange things start to happen.
[ Music box playing ]
I started hearing
What sounded like a toy box.
Shh.
[ Music continues ]
And it was so faint,
But yet it seemed like it was
Right there inside the room.
[ Music continues ]
It was a song
That my grandmother loved.
It was...
On all of her music boxes,
And that was the sound
That was playing.
Narrator:
While the others
Search for
The source of the music,
Jay heads to the epicenter
Of the paranormal events --
The grandmother's bedroom --
Alone.
Jay: I go inside this closet
By myself, like an idiot.
Ugh.
I went into the closet with
A clipboard with a prayer on it
That I was attempting to read.
"Every evil influence
And all evil actions
Aimed against your servant..."
I started feeling...
The clothes in the closet start
Kind of brushing my back...
™ªâ™ª
...like something was walking
Back and forth in the closet.
I was in disbelief, I guess.
Look over to my right,
And...i see two purses
That are on a hook on the wall
Completely levitate
Off the hook,
Like, straight, just like this.
[ Breathing heavily ]
Didn't know what to do.
I went to go open the door.
The door wouldn't open up.
It was like
Somebody was holding the door.
I'm screaming, "guys,
Open the door, open the door!
Open it up!"
Guys, there's [bleep]
Moving around in here!
Get me the [bleep] out!
And I panicked. I panicked.
I screamed.
Come on, let me out!
Marie: I was terrified
When I heard him scream.
I was trying
To grab the closet door,
And it really wouldn't open.
I feel them, you know, like,
Jerking the door,
But they couldn't get it open.
I can't get it!
Open up!
[ Pounding on door ]
Jay!
Open up!
Then, all of a sudden, out of
Nowhere, it just flies open.
[Bleep]
What the [bleep], dude?
Good?
Yeah. Dude.
I ain't going back in there,
Dude.
Narrator: the experience
Leaves jay badly shaken.
Jay:
And I grabbed all of our stuff.
"We're packing up,
We're leaving.
I'm getting the hell
Out of here. Screw this.
Marie: I actually have never
Seen my husband so terrified.
He ran right out.
He was like, "I'm done.
I don't want to be
In this house no more.
Let's just get out."
Narrator:
But marie isn't going anywhere.
All I kept thinking about is,
"This is my family."
This is
My mother's house!
"I'm going in there
And getting this thing
Out of my mother's home."
Jay: I knew there was no way I
Could back her down whatsoever,
And I just kind of just, "okay,
Let's -- let's go together."
And we did.
Narrator:
Jay and marie head to confront
Whatever is in the closet.
You are not welcome here.
I said, "whatever you're doing
And whoever you are,
You get out
Of my mother's home."
I command you
To leave this house!
I was -- I was angry.
I called it a couple names.
You are not wel--
Jay:
Look, marie!
And then that's when...
Jay saw something move again.
See?
I told you.
And all of a sudden, my head...
Was completely in pain.
Aah! Oh, my god.
What's wrong?
My head. Oh, my god,
Something's in my head!
Marie!
Jay: and she's grabbing her head
And she's falling to the ground.
I'm trying to open the door.
Door's not opening.
I'm screaming, "guys,
Open the door, open the door!"
Open the door!
Come on!
Marie!
And we get the door open,
And I drag marie out.
And I remember, like, looking
At her, and she's just, like --
She's, like -- she's not moving,
Her arms are limp.
Marie!
Come on, honey.
Come on.
I'm like, "oh, my god,
She's not even breathing."
So I'm terrified.
This is my wife.
I don't feel a heartbeat at all.
I'm thinking, like, "oh, my god,
Did my wife just die?
Did this thing just k*ll
My wife? Can ghosts k*ll people?
Is this possible?"
™ªâ™ª
Narrator: in ohio, paranormal
Investigator marie yates' mother
Is being plagued
By the same entity
That tormented her grandmother.
I command you
To leave this house!
Now marie herself
Has been att*cked
By an unseen entity
In the closet.
Jay:
I don't feel a heartbeat at all.
I don't feel anything.
I'm thinking, like, "oh, my god,
Did this thing
Just k*ll my wife?"
Narrator:
Jay calls an ambulance,
But despite his fear,
Marie isn't dead.
Something far stranger
Is happening to her.
I experienced
A feeling of me floating.
And I was watching
My grandmother.
And then, all of a sudden,
You hear this evil man's voice.
Get up.
It was the most evilest voice,
And telling my grandmother
To get up.
"Come here now."
I screamed and I screamed...
For her to stop.
Narrator:
Marie has a shocking vision
Of how her grandmother d*ed,
And it's no accident.
Marie: you just see the blanket
Wrapping around her feet,
And she trips and hits her head.
She...
Jay:
Marie! Come on, hon.
Narrator: fearing
What the entity might do next,
Jay takes marie outside
To wait for paramedics.
Come on.
And finally,
We get her up off the floor,
And we get her out of the house.
[ Gasping ]
Jay: and the moment
She passes through
The threshold of the door,
Like, immediately, [gasps]
This huge breath
That she takes in.
And I just break down.
I mean,
I break down emotionally.
I'm -- I'm -- I'm teared up now
Talking about it.
I was definitely crying
When it happened.
We were talking to her like,
"Hey," like,
"Do you know
What just happened?"
And she says --
She says something weird, like,
"You know, I saw --
I saw everything."
Narrator: marie tells jay
About her awful vision.
She saw this being.
This thing was torturing
Her grandmother for years.
[ Screaming ]
™ªâ™ª
[ Snarling ]
Narrator: then, jay notices
Something on marie's neck.
Jay:
There's this long scratch
Right across
The top of her neck,
Where it looks like something
Just grabbed her by her neck
And just slid their fingers --
Their fingernails --
Across the top of her neck.
Narrator:
When paramedics arrive,
They find nothing
Seriously wrong with marie.
And that's when I told jay,
"I'm going back in there,
And whatever is in there,
I'm gonna get it out.
It is not gonna touch
Or hurt any one
Of my family members again."
That evil...entity
That was in that house
Was the cause
Of my grandmother's death.
And if I didn't get it out,
I do believe it would have
k*lled my mother, as well.
Jay:
She was like a warrior.
If I would have got
In the way of my wife that day,
I'm pretty sure she would have,
You know,
Pushed me to the ground.
Narrator:
Marie heads back to the closet
To cast the demon out.
You are not
Welcome here.
™ªâ™ª
You need to leave
My grandmother's house.
You are not
Welcome here.
You don't belong here!
I was demanding it to get out.
I was angry.
She was calling this thing out,
Casting it out into hell,
Where it belonged.
"You're not allowed
In this home,
And you're not messing
With anybody in my family
Ever again."
[ Shouting indistinctly ]
And I said it with more force
Than I probably ever have.
[ Both shouting indistinctly ]
Jay:
The passion driven behind that
And that force, that emotion,
The heart she was pouring
Into that home,
After what she had seen,
There was a sense of peace --
Like, a complete and total
Sense of peace.
Marie: it felt like somebody
Opened all the windows.
And the sunlight was shining.
Jay:
Shortly after,
We were actually sitting
In my wife's grandmother's room,
And we caught an audio piece.
And it says, "I love you."
And it sounds exactly like
Her grandmother.
I believe that the grandmother
Stuck around after her passing,
More as a protection to her
Daughter that still lived there
And all the family
That frequented the house
Because she knew what was
Going on inside that house.
I do feel like i...
Gave justice to my grandmother.
Jay: our mission statement
Is to seek truth, understanding,
And proof of the paranormal
By any means necessary.
It was a hard lesson learned
Because of what happened
To my wife,
But it was important
And it was necessary.
And I think we had
An appointment with the devil,
And the devil lost this one.
™ªâ™ª
Narrator: coming up...
Paranormal investigators
Discover a woman bedridden
By a mysterious illness
Is actually being possessed
By a demonic spirit.
Acosta: spirits --
They're like vampires.
They suck your energy.
Their main cause
Is possession of a human being.
Narrator:
But first, when ghost hunters
Spend a night in a hotel
That used to be an old jail,
The spirits of former prisoners
Do not give them a warm welcome.
™ªâ™ª
The old building that now houses
The king george inn
In cobourg, ontario,
Didn't always offer
Such fine accommodations.
Until , it was a jail.
[ Lock rattling ]
Locked behind its bars
Were up to
Of the area's most violent
And depraved offenders --
Murderers, rapists,
And the criminally insane.
™ªâ™ª
The hotel retains not only many
Of the jail's original features,
It retains
Some of its original guests.
Ghostly figures wander the halls
And disappear.
Whispered conversations
Echo around empty rooms.
Guests report mysterious
And troubling noises.
[ Screaming ]
The activity
Brings it to the attention
Of paranormal investigators.
We've heard
That the cobourg jail
Had a lot of activity going on.
A lot of stories
Were coming out of there,
And we really felt that
This would be a good fit for us.
Narrator: michelle desrochers
Is a veteran ghost hunter,
Investigating over
Major hauntings since .
Despite michelle's experience,
She knows that every case
Is a leap into the unknown.
What scares me
About the paranormal
Is not really knowing
What you're up against.
Narrator:
The inn's owners allow michelle
And her colleague patrick cross
To spend the night
Investigating the activity.
Desrochers: my colleague and I
Were fortunate enough
To have the entire place
To ourselves.
There wasn't another soul
In that building.
I was tense. I was apprehensive.
How you'd have a good night's
Sleep there is beyond me.
[ Indistinct conversation ]
And literally, activity started
For us almost immediately.
I did feel a sense of heaviness,
Like someone
Was pushing on my chest.
[ Screaming in distance ]
And I got a big sense of just
Always looking behind me.
Like, I really didn't feel like
I was alone.
[ Screaming in distance ]
™ªâ™ª
Narrator:
Shaking off her feeling,
Michelle and patrick establish
A base camp in room .
Room being one of the most
Haunted rooms in the building.
We have heard from other people
Who have stayed there.
They have stories of footsteps,
Conversations happening,
And there's actually
No one there.
Orbs, lights flying around,
Banging doors,
Clicking, doors opening.
[ Indistinct conversations ]
Narrator:
After dumping their gear,
They can begin
The investigation.
Patrick and I decided
It would be a good time
To start our walk-through.
™ªâ™ª
We went down into the basement,
Where they used to have
The old holding cells,
Solitary confinement.
So, we started asking questions
Pertaining to maybe
The spirits' frame of mind.
Like, you know,
"What is it like being in here?
What do you think about?"
Were you lonely?
™ªâ™ª
Narrator:
At first, there's no reply.
And we moved
Towards the back of the room,
And there were two small cells,
Maybe three feet by six feet.
Narrator: but the spirits
Aren't silent for long.
™ªâ™ª
Narrator: in a former jail,
Ghost hunter michelle desrochers
And her colleague
Are investigating claims
Of paranormal activity.
I really didn't feel like
I was alone.
[ Screaming in distance ]
Narrator:
Now, in the basement cellblock,
The jail's former residents
Are making their presence felt.
All of a sudden,
There's mist filling the room.
Cross:
It was heavy.
The mist just dissipated
Into the rest of the room,
Disappeared.
™ªâ™ª
We started hearing things --
Disembodied voices.
Whispers, voices, men talking.
There's a conversation happening
In the other room.
™ªâ™ª
We walk in.
There's nobody there.
™ªâ™ª
And everything
Just seemed to stop.
™ªâ™ª
[ Footsteps ]
And it sounded like somebody
Was coming up the hallway.
[ Footsteps continue ]
[ Jingling ]
It sounded like a guard...
Just doing the rounds.
I heard, like, you know,
Handcuff chains
Or something on his belt.
I felt like a prisoner.
Desrochers:
So we peeked out.
We took a look.
There was nobody there.
™ªâ™ª
Came back
Into solitary confinement,
It was like
The guard just disappeared.
It was completely gone.
™ªâ™ª
We decided at this point,
"Let's just...
Get our bearings,
Catch our breath,
Take five, and sit down."
Narrator: michelle and patrick
Head back to their base camp,
But there's no escape
From the activity.
We go back to room ,
We unlock the door.
The door's not moving.
[ Doorknob rattling ]
I could not open the door.
I couldn't open it at all.
And I kept pulling the lock,
Pushing it.
Okay, ready?
Together.
Pushed the door.
[ Sighs ]
Took a good couple minutes.
Finally got it open.
And we pushed our way through
Somewhat,
And I squeezed in
Through the opening of the door.
Narrator: someone or something
Has moved the furniture
To block their entrance...
But from the inside.
Desrochers: the bed is
Loaded down with our equipment.
It's a big brass bed.
Somehow, the big, heavy bed
Was right against the door,
Which was odd
Because the bed was way over
On the other side when we left.
™ªâ™ª
The fact is, is there's no way
Anybody could have gotten
In there to do that...period.
Narrator:
The facts lead michelle
To have a chilling realization.
Desrochers:
There's only one thing
That I personally think
That could have enough strength
To move that much weight
Across a room.
And pat looked at me.
I knew we were both thinking
The same thing.
I knew it, you know?
And I said,
"Demons can do this."
Narrator: michelle and patrick
Decide to capture evidence
Of the entity in room .
Desrochers: so, we set up
A motion detector in the corner.
It was very sensitive,
And it also had an alarm on it.
[ Beeping ]
So if something is in here,
Then that alarm should go off.
We sat for about minutes
Very quietly.
™ªâ™ª
And the thing went off.
[ Beeping ]
™ªâ™ª
Something was moving
Around the room,
Turning on the motion detector.
Desrochers:
We're looking around.
Nothing.
™ªâ™ª
And all of a sudden,
Our cellphones
Started going off.
[ Cellphones ringing ]
Cross: the phones
Started ringing...and ringing.
She'd answer it and say,
"Hello?"
Hello?
There was nobody there.
Hello?
The screen was blank.
Didn't say "unknown,"
Didn't say "private,"
Didn't have a phone number.
It was blank.
I got nothing.
™ªâ™ª
Clearly, something went down,
Yet nothing showed up
In footage,
Nothing came up
On the voice recorder.
You can't have something
Of this magnitude happen
And then there's just nothing.
Narrator: the lack of recordings
Puzzles michelle,
But the entity is about
To make its presence felt
In a painful way.
Patrick,
What's the problem?
Are you okay?
Cross:
The weirdest thing happened.
Got what felt like
A punch in the stomach.
I couldn't breathe.
I lost my breath.
[ Gasping ]
™ªâ™ª
Clearly, I'm very concerned
Because the man is under att*ck
From something.
Are you okay?
I'm okay.
Are you sure?
Yeah. I'm okay.
[ Sighs ]
So, then I was getting my breath
Of air, and I was okay again.
™ªâ™ª
So I basically said,
"Okay, why don't you, you know,
Just stay in this room
And just relax a little bit?
I'm just gonna go
Across the hall."
Narrator:
Leaving patrick to recover,
Michelle ventures into
Another paranormal hot spot.
Room is
One of the most luxurious rooms
In the entire hotel.
The owners have actually
Incorporated the cells
Into the hotel room.
Beautiful wall of old bars.
™ªâ™ª
And then
The hanging gallows doors
Are situated
Directly under the bed.
Narrator:
Through these doors,
Condemned men
Plummeted to their deaths.
™ªâ™ª
Desrochers: when a spirit
Leaves a body and life ends,
There's a lot of energy
That is released.
It leaves a very big imprint.
Narrator:
Michelle wants to see
If she can contact the spirits
Of those who were ex*cuted here.
And all of a sudden,
The bed started...
I'm like, "my god."
™ªâ™ª
And I'm --
I'm looking at everything.
I mean, there's nothing.
Looking under the bed,
There's nothing...
Just the gallows doors.
™ªâ™ª
Narrator:
From across the hallway,
Michelle hears a scream.
™ªâ™ª
[ Scream in distance ]
[ Rattling ]
It's coming from room .
™ªâ™ª
Narrator:
In a hotel that was once a jail,
Investigators michelle
Desrochers and patrick cross
Have been battling
Violent spirits.
™ªâ™ª
I couldn't breathe.
I lost my breath.
Narrator:
But nothing can prepare them
For the ferocity
Of the next att*ck.
Something kind of grabbed
The back of my shoulder,
Pushed me down,
And I couldn't breathe.
[ Gasping ]
It felt like it was really hot,
Stale stench air,
Like a thick fire.
It was going like this
At my throat. I can't breathe.
[ Gasping ]
Patrick!
Come on.
Desrochers:
I'm afraid for him.
Instinctively, I came around
To shield him, held my ground.
I said, "that's enough.
Back off."
That's enough!
You have to get assertive.
I don't ever
Believe in calling things out,
But I do believe
In holding your ground.
I said, "that'll be it!"
[ Gasping ]
And then he went, [gasps]
Like he caught his breath.
Cross:
I don't know what she did.
I was okay again.
I was okay to breathe.
It was like normal air.
[ Panting ]
Desrochers: many people believe
Spirits can't even hurt you.
That, to me, is something
I've always disagreed with
Because I was witnessing it.
It was overwhelming.
Narrator: concerned about
The escalating att*cks,
Michelle calls an end
To the investigation.
She offers
To cleanse the building,
But the owner refuses.
She feels the spirits
Are part of the fabric
And history of the old jail
And it isn't her right
To have them removed.
Desrochers: sometimes owning
A place with that much --
That sort of a history,
Nothing really surprises you
Because anything can happen
Because of
The type of individuals
That are there in spirit.
There are things out there
Bigger than us.
They can infiltrate your life.
They can hurt you.
And you have no control over it.
You have no control over it.
That's a little bit scary.
™ªâ™ª
Narrator:
When a woman is struck down
By a mysterious illness
That confounds doctors,
She calls a paranormal
Investigator out of desperation.
The diagnosis is chilling
And leads them into a conflict
With a spirit
Sent by the devil himself.
I've never been afraid,
But this was a challenge.
Aah! [ Hisses ]
™ªâ™ª
Narrator: in an ordinary home
In harlingen, texas,
John lawson and his wife, laura,
Are trying
To enjoy a quiet life,
But something troubling
Is happening to laura.
She is regularly overcome
By mysterious waves of fatigue.
[ Whimpers ]
Despite consulting
Numerous doctors
And undergoing multiple tests,
No one can find anything wrong.
Laura's condition
Starts to deteriorate fast,
Like something is sucking
The very life out of her.
™ªâ™ª
A deeply religious man,
John worries
Dark forces might be at work.
He calls
A paranormal investigator,
Desperately hoping they can fix
What the doctors cannot.
The doctors couldn't find
Nothing wrong with her,
So he felt like maybe
It was something supernatural.
He asked me if I would be able
To help her, and I said, "sure."
Narrator: a former minister,
George acosta
Has been investigating
Paranormal activity
For the last years.
Acosta:
I'm ordained by god, not by men.
God called me
To help the individuals
That are being att*cked,
To get rid of whatever is there.
™ªâ™ª
Narrator:
His religious background
Led george to specialize
In expelling demonic entities
From both places and people.
I've never been afraid to do
Spiritual battle with the enemy.
You got to challenge it
And grab it by the horns.
™ªâ™ª
Narrator: george suspects
He knows what's to blame
For laura's condition.
Acosta: there's spirits that are
Feeding from her, draining her.
There's something
That's making her sick.
™ªâ™ª
™ªâ™ª
Narrator:
In texas, homeowner laura lawson
Has been struck down
By a mysterious illness.
Paranormal investigator
George acosta
Suspects he knows the cause.
There's spirits that are
Feeding from her, draining her.
™ªâ™ª
Narrator:
His suspicions are confirmed
When he researches
The history of the house
And its previous occupants.
[ Indistinct whispering ]
What he finds is troubling.
Demons, show your presence.
Acosta: the previous owners
Had a lady living there,
And this lady
Was doing witchcraft.
And because of that,
She summoned a spirit.
And when that lady left,
The spirit didn't leave.
It stayed there,
And doing chaos
To whoever came on board.
Aah! [ Hisses ]
[ Air rushing ]
Narrator:
George believes this entity
Has attached itself to laura
And it's only a matter of time
Before it takes her over
Completely.
Spirits --
They're like vampires.
They suck your energy.
They suck your strength.
™ªâ™ª
We needed
To get rid of that spirit,
And that's where I come in.
™ªâ™ª
Narrator: george heads to john
And laura's house with his team,
Including medium mary villa.
I can communicate with a spirit.
I'm able to see a spirit.
I'm able to let them know
If there's any messages
That need to be related to him
Or to anybody.
Narrator: the second
George steps inside the house,
He's hit by a troubling feeling.
Right off the bat,
I feel the negative vibes.
I knew there was evil.
Narrator:
When george meets laura,
He knows he has to act quickly
To protect her
From whatever spirit
Is attacking her.
I feel like they need
A blessing from god.
I don't like to call it
An exorcism
Because it scares people,
It freaks them out.
So I'd rather
Use the word "cleanse"
To make people at ease.
Narrator: with john and laura
Safely out of the house,
George's plan is to
Cleanse the home room by room,
Driving the spirit out for good.
Acosta: I take my bible,
White sage, holy water,
And I put candles in each room.
Then, the holy water
Is for sanctification.
And the sage -- it att*cks the
Evil spirit and pushes it out.
They can't withstand the sage.
They got to leave.
...the father and the son,
The holy spirit...
Villa: we started
From the kitchen area,
Worked our way around
To the hallway,
And then the tv room.
Narrator: the cleansing
Progresses without incident...
™ªâ™ª
[ Screaming ]
...until they reach
The upstairs hallway.
You could start feeling
We're being watched.
Acosta: as we're approaching
The bathroom,
Mary sees the spirit and she
Tells me, "george, I see her."
[ Shrieking ]
It was a female, and it was
In the form of a human.
And I told them...
"It's in there.
It's in the bathroom."
Narrator: cautiously,
They approach the bathroom.
And that's when
She started getting upset.
[ Shrieking ]
He redeemeth my soul. He...
Mr. Acosta was praying
And asking the spirit to leave,
That it wasn't wanted there.
The spirit became very agitated,
Very disturbed.
Yea, though I walk through the
Valley of the shadow of death,
I shall fear no evil!
And I started rebuking her
And telling her,
"In the name of jesus,
You got to leave.
You cannot stay here."
The rod and his staff,
They comfort me!
Narrator: reeling from
George's incantations,
The spirit decides
To leave the bathroom...
But it's not going back
To the spirit world.
™ªâ™ª
She just went right through me.
™ªâ™ª
Narrator: investigator
George acosta and his team
Are battling an evil spirit
Intent on possessing
Homeowner laura lawson.
She just went right through me.
It just like -- boom --
And I was like [gasps]
It went through me.
It was scary --
Incredible, scary.
It was like ice being thrown
At you, but going through you.
And as soon as it went
Through me, I felt this drain.
Narrator: the team follow
The entity to the living room.
Mary tries to find out exactly
What they're dealing with.
I asked mary to ask the spirit
Why is she here,
What is her name.
What is your name?
[ Distorted voice ]
Josephine.
And that's when she introduced
Herself as josephine to me.
"Okay, mary, ask her,
'Why are you here?'"
She said,
"I was summoned by a lady
That used to live here before."
I was stunned.
So I said, "well,
Tell her she can't stay here."
And mary said
She was laughing at me
Like that I wasn't gonna be able
To get rid of her.
I was shocked,
And I didn't know what to say.
[ Laughing evilly ]
And that's when josephine said
That she had made a deal
With the devil.
™ªâ™ª
I never have encountered
A spirit like that.
That was shocking to me.
I command you to go back
Where you came from!
[ Laughing evilly ]
Villa: when I asked her
What she meant by that,
She said that she was
Placed there to destroy someone.
And I asked her,
"Who is that someone?"
And she said, "laura."
Narrator:
Laura's only hope of salvation
Is if george removes
The evil spirit,
But josephine's not
Going anywhere without a fight.
So I started praying, says,
"I command you to go to hell,
In the name of jesus."
We're doing spiritual battle
For , minutes.
The spirit was taking our energy
So it could build up
Bigger and stronger.
At first, I thought,
"We're gonna lose the w*r."
I didn't know if we were gonna
Be able to defeat josephine.
She was pretty strong,
Not like the previous spirits
That I've encountered.
...i walk through the valley
Of the shadow of death,
I shall fear
No evil.
[ Laughing evilly ]
It was very intense.
Villa:
And mr. Acosta, at that point,
Started calling different angels
To come and help.
Narrator: eventually, george
Begins to get the upper hand.
A whirlpool opened up right in
The center of the living room.
It looked like a huge,
Black tornado
Right in the center
Of the living room.
I had never seen that -- never.
Acosta: and suddenly,
The floor opens widely,
And four ugly creatures
Grab her and pulls her down.
Aaah!
She kept saying that, "no,
You're not gonna destroy me."
And mr. Acosta kept praying.
I could see where the whirlpool
Was dragging her in,
And I could see hands
Trying to reach out.
Was I afraid? Very much afraid.
I didn't know
If I was gonna be dragged in..
Or mr. Acosta
Was gonna be dragged in.
[ Distorted speech ]
It was scary.
™ªâ™ª
And as mr. Acosta is praying,
The whirlpool starts getting
Smaller...and smaller.
And then, slowly,
The pit-hole goes back.
The floor goes back
To its normal function.
Everything is normal, at peace.
When the portal closed,
You could feel a relief.
You could feel
The whole house became brighter.
Goodness will always prevail
Against evil,
So we won that battle
And we won the w*r.
Narrator:
With the evil spirit gone,
Laura's strength
Begins to return.
Acosta:
Laura is home, she feels safe,
She feels more at ease.
I would have to say it has been
The most memorable one
That I have encountered, as far
As facing evil face-to-face.
A lot of people that would hear
Our story, our experience,
Would probably say,
"That's not true.
That doesn't happen.
That doesn't exist."
It does exist.
I'm a witness to it.
Mr. Acosta is a witness to it.
There is evil out there,
So it does exist.
