[narrator] The babies are ready to wake up from their naps.

But wait. Where are the babies?

[giggling]

Peek-a-boo!

[laughing]

We surprised you.

We already woke up.

And we’re making a plan for playtime.

I have these really pretty beads

to make friendship bracelets.

Because we’re all friends.

Pretty, pretty colors.

Yeah. Green! That’s my favorite color.

My favorite is purple. See?

-I like blue. -Oh, yeah, blue’s nice.

-But, oh, green. -Oh, purple.

What’s your favorite color, big kids?

[music playing]

We know, Clickety. It’s time to play.

-[laughs] -Let’s go. Cheetah speed.

Yeah, let’s go.

But first let’s give the big kids some kisses.

[laughs]

-[laughs] -Big kisses for you.

Let’s go.

Okay, to make bracelets,

you just slide these onto the string

one after another.

Like this.

-Cool. -Oh, I want to do it.

Me! Me!

[gasps] Let’s use all purple beads!

-Purple. -No, no, no, no, no.

I want to use all green beads.

Green.

Well, our friendship bracelets

should look exactly the same.

-Right? -I think that’s right.

-Yes. -Well, then all green beads.

No, all purple beads.

No, no, no, green.

-Purple. -Green.

-[trumpeting] -Oh.

[music starts]

Let’s not fight.

It’s not nice to fight.

-Okay. -[music stops]

But just to tell you,

I don’t want to make friendship bracelets anymore

-because Kip is not my friend. -[gasps]

Ah.

Well, uh-- well, that’s okay,

because I-I also don’t want to make friendship bracelets anymore

because, well, Lulu is not my friend. Hmm.

What?

What?

Huh. Oh.

-Wait, don’t-- -Lulu?

Now we really need these friendship bracelets.

Yeah.

Okay, we gotta use colors

that both Kip and Lulu like.

Right. And we need the same number of beads

-in the same order. -Oh, yes.

So it needs to be something like this or that or--

Oh!

I’m not sure what I’m drawing.

But, wait, did you say number?

Yes.

[gasps]

[both] This is a math problem!

Math Molly!

[trumpeting]

Come on. We gotta get Kip and Lulu.

Let’s go.

Noodles, you’re my friends.

You like purple, don’t you?

[chuckles]

You’re nice.

Wait, where are you going, noodles?

Oh.

Lulu, come on.

We’re gonna fix this friendship problem.

Math Molly will help.

Okay.

But I’m not talking to Kip!

You’re my friend, star pillow.

You like green beads, right?

Yeah. You’re a good listener.

Not like that-- oh!

Oh, Kip, Kip.

Come with us.

We’re going to fix this, and Math Molly will help.

Well, okay, but I’m still not talking to Lulu!

Come on.

[narrator] The babies are here to use math to solve a problem.

-[grunts] -A friendship problem--

the most important kind.

And we really need your help.

That’s one, two, three, four.

Four green beads.

Yeah, green. The best color. Hmm.

And that’s one, two, three, four.

Four purple beads.

Pretty, pretty purple.

-The best. -[groans]

[gasps] Look.

Green, purple,

green, purple,

green, purple.

Yeah. It’s always the same order.

Big kids, what’s that called?

[kids] A pattern.

What’s a pattern?

[narrator] Babies, a pattern is when

the order of something repeats based on a rule.

Oh, so the rule here

is green, then purple,

green, then purple,

over and over again.

So, if we use this pattern for our bracelets,

there would be green and purple beads?

-And the same number of each. -[gasps]

[both] I like that!

You like that?

Yes!

[laughing]

So, are you friends again?

Oh, uh...

I’m sorry, Kip.

You are my bestest, better than noodles friend.

Oh, I’m sorry, Lulu.

You’re-- you’re my bestest, better than stars friend. [chuckles]

Now we can make our friendship bracelets.

[all] Yay!

[laughing]

[both] But first...

[all] Math party!

[cheering]

Friendship bracelets made with a pattern--

one purple, one green,

then again and again.

Five bracelets.

For five friends.

-One. -Two.

-Three. -Four.

[all] Five!

Oh, we’re five friends again.

Can we play the five babies game?

-Yes! -Please, oh, please! Yeah, right now.

Let’s take off our bracelets so we don’t break them.

-Okay. Good idea, Franny. Okay. -Right.

There. Safe and sound.

Pretty, pretty bracelets.

Let’s got hop and skip and slide!

-Yay! -Come on, let’s go, go, go!

♪ Five babies hopping ♪

♪ Hop-hop-hopping round a tree ♪

♪ Kip hop-hoppity hops away ♪

[gasps] Look! A bumblebee!

♪ Four babies tapping ♪

♪ Tap-tap-tapping on our knees ♪

♪ Let’s all get a snack in ♪

♪ Pass the ice cream please ♪

♪ Tilly leaves to take a bath ♪

♪ Now we’re only three ♪

♪ Three babies skipping ♪

♪ Skip-skip-skipping on their toes ♪

♪ Skipping round the garden ♪

-♪ Bailey stops to smell a rose ♪ -Ah.

♪ So now there’s two babies sliding ♪

♪ Slide-slide-sliding down a slide ♪

-Whoo! -♪ Lulu keeps on sliding ♪

♪ Franny takes off for a ride ♪

-See you later! -♪ One baby dancing ♪

♪ Dance with Raffe round the room ♪

-Whoo-hoo-hoo! -♪ Everybody join the fun ♪

-♪ So I’m not the only one ♪ -Come on!

♪ One, two, three, four, five Count everyone ♪

♪ Five, four, three, two, one ♪

♪ And now we’re done ♪

[laughs]

Not really. We’re not done.

-We’re right here. -Hi, big kids!

Thanks for helping us make friendship bracelets today.

You are our bestest, better than noodles...

Better than stars...

[all] Friends!

[narrator] The babies are having a dance party today.

And I’m painting them while they dance.

But everyone keeps moving.

Oh, pretty, pretty pattern.

Orange, green, purple.

Orange, green, purple.

Yep, it’s a pattern.

Hey, Lulu, let’s make up new dances.

-Okay. -This one’s called the Wallaby Hop.

Okay, watch, watch. Hop, hop, spin!

[laughing]

[laughing]

-Lulu has a dance, too. -Oh, yeah?

It’s the funky noodle.

Oh.

One slide and two wiggles.

[laughing]

You try, Tilly.

Good dancing.

Tilly’s got the moves.

[overlapping chatter]

Dance, Tilly, dance!

All that dancing made me hungry.

That’s good, because Cookitybot’s here.

It’s snack time!

-Ooh. -Let’s see.

Five blueberry muffins for five babies.

-Yum. -Thanks, Cookity.

Wait.

three, four babies.

Not five babies. Where’s Tilly?

What’s wrong, Tilly?

Don’t you want to eat your snack?

[babbling]

-[music playing] -[laughing]

Tilly wants to do another dance.

-Well, let’s do the silly dance. -Yeah.

Being silly is fun. Come on.

-Okay. -Yeah.

-No. -[all] Oh!

No?

You-- you don’t want to do the silly dance?

Uh, Kip, Tilly doesn’t know how to do the silly dance.

Oh, well, then we’ll teach her.

Hey, Tilly, you stay here and watch us. [chuckles]

[sighs] Oh.

Detective Kip.

Let’s see. Looking for clues.

Ooh, hi.

[gasps] Look! On the table.

There are only one, two, three, four--

four blueberry muffins here.

And there were five blueberry muffins for five babies.

-Is Tilly eating her snack? -Ooh.

This is really messy.

It’s also a clue!

Tilly left us a trail. [gasps]

Let’s follow it.

Oh, ha-ha-ha! Look! Crumbs.

Yeah, follow me.

-Following the clues. -Gotta be around here somewhere, right?

[Lulu] There she is!

Oh, Tilly,

are you sad because you couldn’t do the silly dance with us?

[sighs]

I’m sorry you felt left out, Tilly.

[sighs]

[gasps] Hey, you couldn’t do my dance,

but, well, what if we learned your dance?

You can teach us your very own Tilly dance.

[cheering]

Then we could dance together.

Tilly’s fast.

Hey, wait for us!

-Wait! -Come here, Tilly.

We’re here, we’re here.

Okay, Tilly, show us your dance.

[music playing]

Dance, dance, dance!

-Hop, hop, hop, hop! -[overlapping chatter]

Hop, hop, hop, hop!

Oh, we’re not hopping anymore.

-Doing robot moves now. -Okay.

-Is that right, Tilly? -Robot.

-Which one is this? -Whoa, oh, oh, oh!

Um, we can’t do your dance, Tilly.

You keep doing something different.

Yeah, we don’t know what comes next.

Maybe your dance should have a pattern.

Yeah, yeah. If your dance repeats like a pattern,

we can follow you.

Yeah. [chuckles]

[mumbling]

[babbling]

Tilly doesn’t get it.

Let’s call Math Molly.

She can help us.

Yeah.

[all] Math Molly!

Math Molly will help us learn your dance.

[kids] Yes.

Yeah.
