Who are you?

Deputy Sheriff Earp.

Tombstone.

How many men

did you bring?

He's probably got a posse

hiding in the brush.

What are you doing here?

I have a warrant

for Mr. Clanton.

Charge of horse stealing.

You think you are going to

arrest Mr. Clanton? Oh, ho ho.

The old man ain't home.

There ain't nobody home.

When will Mr. Clanton be back?

That's his business.

Now, you push on back

at Tombstone, proto.

Mister, I don't like

to have a g*n pointed at me.

You cock that riffle

The Life and Legend

of Wyatt Earp

starring Hugh O'Brian.

Against his better judgment,

Wyatt made his decision

to serve as Chief Deputy

Sheriff of Tombstone.

In fact as historians have

pointed out, Wyatt was trapped

in Tombstone by the thr*at

of Old Man Clanton

to bushwhack him

if he left.

And by his own

stubborn bravery.

[whispering]

Come here.

Take it easy.

He's hurt.

- You know him, doc?

- Mm-hm. Herm Ridder.

Wanders around the territory

treating horses.

A vigorous outdoor life makes

men like him indestructible.

[sighing]

Well, he must

be indestructible.

- Three slugs, yeah?

- Oh, yeah.

- Lost a lotta blood.

- Means nothing.

Till the sand

begins running out.

- Mr. Ridder, who sh*t you?

- Where's Fred White?

Herm.

(doctor)

'This is marshal

Wyatt Earp from Dodge City.'

Earp? No joking.

What's an honest man like you

doing in the Arizona territory?

We shanghaied him.

Tell Earp who sh*t you, Herm.

The Clantons, who else?

Ran off head of horses.

My whole string.

Where are the horses now,

Mr. Ridder?

I can answer that.

In Old Man Clanton's corral.

- Right, Herm?

- Yeah.

[door opens]

Herm Ridder, you been

in a g*n fight?

He got bushwhacked

by the Clantons.

Wyatt, I have

a recurring dream.

I dream that Old Man Clanton

is under anesthetic

and I have a Kn*fe

in my hands.

The Kn*fe slips...

and I wake up.

[laughing]

I wonder what

Hippocrates would say.

Now, I'll see you

in about an hour.

- Oh, doc?

- Huh?

It's alright to give him

some water, isn't it?

- Yeah, not too much.

- Alright.

There you are, Mr. Ridder.

- Not too much now.

- I'll do it.

Thank you.

I'll write out a warrant.

Good. Mr. Gird and I

will help you find a posse.

- No, Ms. Nellie.

- 'Don't joke, Wyatt.'

I'm not joking. I got

to get the horses first.

A warrant's no good

without evidence of theft.

But you can't go

out there alone.

It's the only way

I can go out there.

- 'Mr. Ridder?'

- Yes, sir?

Take your time, but tell me

everything that happened.

Wyatt? Excuse me, Mr. Ridder,

but I am morally responsible

for this man. Now, take

Fred White with you.

At least swear in

some special deputies.

More men I take out there,

the less chances I'm gonna have

of finding those horses.

I'm gonna find them and I'm

gonna arrest Mr. Clanton.

And they'll simply

sh**t you down.

Ha ha. He's Wyatt Earp

sure enough.

You go back to your hotel and

don't worry about him, Nellie.

Alright, I'll go

get Doc. Holliday.

Maybe he can keep you

from committing su1c1de.

Ms. Nellie sweet on you?

She's sweet

on the whole human race.

That's a trouble.

Now, let's start with

the description of the horses.

(Herm)

'There were four roans..'

Hurry up or he maybe gone.

Madam, I don't intent

to argue with Wyatt.

You mean you're gonna let him

ride to certain death?

Ms. Cashman, Wyatt Earp has been

riding to a certain death

for the past five or six years.

The good Lord has

his own plan for each of us.

But I intend

to get mortal help.

Isn't there..

...oh, isn't there some young

Well..

Somebody that will take

you away from Arizona?

I'm sure you've

had many offers.

Or am I being

too personal?

Why are you so interested?

Well, I-I don't really know.

There's a way to find out.

Take a job with papa.

Join the insiders.

And I'd be interested.

That kiss was just

to find out something.

You feel sorry for me.

Well, I don't need that.

I'm a Clanton

and that's all I'll ever be.

So, save your pity.

Sholto, Benji!

- Hold it.

Now, sit down.

- I said, sit down.

- I don't take orders from you.

I'm sorry, Ms. Emma, but

I'm gonna have to hold you

he might be

- Doc Holliday.

I wanna talk to Luke Short,

McMasters and Johnson, personal.

Howdy, Luke?

- Turkey Creek.

- I thought it was a ghost.

You should've been dead

long ago, doc.

You know I heard they buried you

up in Deadwood last winter.

Have a drink.

Unless you have some scruples

about drinking with a ghost.

Not me, doc.

You all know Wyatt Earp.

He went up to the Clanton ranch.

To arrest

Old Man Clanton, alone.

I know that ain't very bright.

But I said he went up alone.

- That's too bad.

- Probably dead by now.

Yeah. I don't think so.

I met up with the border patrol,

talked to the Sergeant.

He said the Clanton

and his men were gonna steal

some Mexican cattle

along the line.

There'll only be

the four of us, doc.

I told you

Clanton isn't there yet.

Still ain't enough.

You owe me $ and you

owe me $ . You got the cash?

No.

Luke Short, you owe

- Fast g*ns but slow pay.

- Watch your temper, doc.

Mr. Clanton!

Mr. Clanton!

Mr. Clanton, you have

a visitor.

A Mr. Wyatt Earp.

But Ms. Emma,

she is stalling him.

She take him to the house

while I make the coffee. Meanw--

Hold it, Frenchie.

Where's Sholto?

He is on guard, outside.

Papa, Earp's a fool.

He rode right into it.

They'll never find his grave.

Hush up.

I'm studyin' this.

No. No.

Earp ain't no fool.

He wouldn't ride on to my place

serve a warrant, all by himself.

- 'Where's the posse?'

- No posse.

- I told you. Earp is a fool.

- Oh, we'll see.

You and Phin, circle the home

spread from the North and East.

The rest of us will circle

from South and West.

We don't flush your posse,

we'll move right in.

- Yes, papa.

- And take 'em, papa?

- k*ll the varmint.

- Yooo!

Giddyap!

Heeyah!

[dramatic music]

- It was a setup, Ms. Emma.

- I've got eyes.

I was thinking we, uh,

we could tie up Sholto.

We'll fix ourselves

a little breakfast.

You'll never get any of

our food unless you steal it.

Tsk tsk tsk.

What a temper.

I've-I've decided not

to use you as a hostage

if that's what

you're so upset about.

Maybe you're tired of living.

No. I just don't think that

your Papa'd k*ll a lawman.

All he has to do is to ride in

to Tombstone with me.

[horses trotting]

We'll soon find out.

[trotting continues]

Papa. I don't want

a fight here.

You make a run for it.

I'll stall Papa and the boys.

I came here to serve a warrant

That's what I'm gonna do.

Don't be foolish!

I'll hide you.

Sholto won't say anything. He

knows what'll happen if he does.

That ain't the reason, Ms. Emma.

They can take Earp.

He'll k*ll your old man, Phin

and Ike before he goes down.

That's right.

Emma.

Sholto.

Something's wrong, boys.

Alight, down.

I'll scream and warn Papa.

[dramatic music]

Just take it slow

and easy.

Come on.

[music continues]

- Mr. Clanton--

- Shut up.

I have a warrant

for your arrest, Mr. Clanton.

Well, you back

in the law business, sonny?

He's wearing his star.

Don't you go sh**ting any stars.

- You know what'll happen.

- You keep out of this, Em.

Go on back in the house.

Boys, I'll tell you when.

Papa, all you have to do

is ride into town

and Judge Chriskom'll turn

you loose. That's sensible.

You're a lady. I don't

want you mixed up in this.

- Sholto, take her in the house.

- No, listen!

You can k*ll him but-but

he'll get two or three of you.

- And you'd be first.

- Take her in the house.

This is just

plain stupid.

Maybe Em's right, papa.

We ain't never fired in the law.

You hush up or run

if you're scared.

Hush up, both of you.

What you accusing me of?

Stealing Mr. Ridder's horses.

Well, that settles it. Boys?

- How many boys you got, Ike?

- Enough.

the horses. Turn me loose.

I favor k*lling him.

Let him go, doc.

(Wyatt)

You can pick up

your horse later.

Mr. Clanton.

Anymore sh**ting. I'm gonna

sh**t you down when you scatter.

- Try it.

- Just hold in, Ike.

This ends it for this time

as far as I'm concerned.

Papa.

They could have k*lled me

before you all boys got here.

I ain't saying I'm beholding

an old Johnny Low either.

If Earp stays in Tombstone,

it's gonna be a sure enough w*r.
