02x01 - We've Got Magic To Do

Post by bunniefuu »

I can't believe Rafa booked us a paying performance job.

Right? Hopefully this means we can stop taking

all those weird side gigs.

Testing cat litter.

Cleaning rhino stalls at the zoo.

Watching paint dry.

Seriously, how is that a thing?

All I know is I can't wait to sing our hearts out

in front of an adoring crowd of...

Five year olds?

Oh, did I not mention that?

Uh, no, you didn't.

And who's that guy?

Oops, hey, come back. Come back here.

That's Magnifico.

If you say so.

So do we go on before or after him?

-Same time. -Same time as...

hold on. Rafa, don't tell me.

You're his assistants.

Yeah. That's what I meant by "don't tell me."

So, we're not singing? Like at all?

Did I not mention that either?

Listen, I'm sure he won't mind if you, you know,

hum in the background.

Come on. It's not the worst gig in the world.

I saw Magnifico warming up earlier, so it might be.

Unless magicians are supposed to cry after they do a trick.

Hey. I'm Izzy, Rafa's cousin and a CEO-to-be.

Izzy thought it would be a good learning experience

to watch me work my managerial magic today.

She's really good at talking her way into things.

I haven't decided yet if I regret my decision.

Well, from what I've seen so far I definitely regret my decision.

Ladies! Magnifico just needs some pizazz.

That's why the Barbies are here,

to make his show better than ever.

Because no matter what, the show must go on.

Look. Don't worry.

I have tons of meetings lined up today

to book you legit singing gigs.

In fact, Izzy and I need to take off for one right now.

We'll catch up with you after Magnifico's second show.

Second show?

As in we have to do this twice?

Okay, I know I mentioned that.

No?

Uh well, toodles poodles.

For my next trick I'll turn my magic wand into flowers.

Huh? We can't hear you.

Speak up.

Oh yeah.

My assistants will now bring out...

my wand.

So is that our cue to save the show?

Let's abracadabra do this.

Don't leave yet friends.

Magnifico is just getting warmed up.

You came to see magic

and we are going to show you some magic!

Right after this very quick intermission.

BRB.

I think for my next trick I'll make myself disappear.

I can't go back out there.

Magnifico, we're sure you have great tricks.

But you need to put on a show. Own the stage!

I don't think my arms go that high.

Okay.

Then just smile big and project your voice

so everyone can hear you.

Like that. Great projection.

Um, what was that?

This is Princess Petunia Pufferfeather.

She is the star of my big finish,

the handkerchief trick.

Love her look.

And those sequins, we should introduce her stylist

to Rafa before our next show.

Sure. But let's finish this show first,

before our audience vanishes into thin air.

For my next trick, I will...

What was I going to do?

Oh. Yeah. On the stage.

Wait. Maybe I'm doing that already.

Am I doing that already?

He's not really doing it.

Not even close.

And now I will make this ball

float in front of your very eyes.

Pose.

Ah, ooh.

Ohh.

Mmm.

Mmhmm.

Yeah.

Ooh!

Can we have cake now? Or go home?

And miss the best trick of all?

Gotta get the bird.

This crowd needs a big finish.

I am posing. Why isn't it working?

Don't worry. We got this.

Keep your eyes on the handkerchief.

And now the magic words?

Oh right, right. Um, um, abracadabra zadoolie doobidie doo.

All: Three, two, one. Now!

-Oh, no! -Princess!

Look out!

No, my cake! No my...

...Cake.

She's gone.

My Princess is gone!

What am I going to do?

We could get you another pigeon.

Another pigeon?

Princess watched me pull my first bird out of my first hat.

Because it was her.

She's not just the star of my show.

She's my best friend.

We're really sorry, Mag. Can I call you Mag?

We had no idea Princess was such a special bird.

Don't worry. We promise we'll get her back.

Your show will go on!

What are you waiting for?

Our next gig's in just a few hours.

That crowd is even tougher.

I can't do it without Princess.

We're on it.

Look out!

Ooh, chocolate!

Princess loves chocolate.

Princess flew that way.

Which is not a sentence I thought I'd say today.

Or ever.

Shouldn't be too hard to find one little pigeon.

How many pigeons can there be in New York anyway?

Approximately 4,200,007.

My birdwatching group keeps a log.

Oh, they all look the same.

That one's gray with gray wings. That one's gray with gray wings.

That one's gray with gray wings and a red sequined collar

and an emerald in the middle.

Oh! That's her.

She does have good taste in accessories.

Hurry. We can't lose her again.

Remember, I'm here to teach you

how to become an awesome business manager.

You're here to soak up said awesomeness.

In other words, keep quiet and learn from the master.

Got it.

And when does this master arrive?

And so the Barbies, they, they sing good.

And your venue would be good for them to sing good at.

I'm sorry. It's a no.

Can we talk?

Businesswoman to businesswoman.

You remind me of myself.

You work hard.

You deserve a relaxing weekend, right?

And what's more relaxing than knowing your venue

is totally sold out thanks to a must-see act.

Just imagine it.

I could finally use my pool.

I can see it now.

Flamingo raft, nice cold lemonade in your hand.

I love lemonade.

And what's that happy sound I hear?

Could it be the cheers of all those happy paying customers?

I can hear it, I can hear it!

You've got yourself a booking.

There... she... is.

No, no, no!

Ooh!

I didn't know Dance: The Tale of a Dancer Who Dances

was coming back to Broadway.

Got great reviews.

We can talk about The Dancer Who Dances later.

Right now we gotta be The Focusers Who Focus.

What are you doing? We need to catch that bird.

And I need fuel. Quick smoothie?

What you waiting for? Let's go!

Ooh, did we crush that or what?

We?

Um, that was 100 percent me.

Okay. So, we technically booked the gig after you stepped in.

But that was just a coincidence.

Yeah?

Then how about I wait outside at the next one

and we'll just see how you do on your own.

Oh, it's on girl. It's on.

How is this a good hiding place?

It was either this or a trash can,

and I'll go with easily spotted

over covered in week-old cream cheese any day.

Mmhmm. Smart call.

Okay. So, all we gotta do is walk up to her nice and slow.

Kay. Now all we gotta do is sprout wings

and learn how to fly.

That or we climb.

It looks like she's on the fourth floor, third window over.

To the stairs.

Gotcha!

We don't gotcha.

Where'd she go?

There!

Can pigeons laugh?

It looks like she's laughing at us.

You think we're just going to give up, Princess?

Have you met us?

We're the girls who watch paint dry.

I kind of miss watching paint dry.

That 9:00 to 5:00 life, am I right?

So, that was a no. But it was not my fault.

That guy was an ice man. No sense of humor.

He wasn't even listening to me.

Give me five minutes. Actually, make it four.

Izzy!

Thanks, Boss. And check out that juicer suggestion.

Your pulp problems will be over, my friend.

Booked it in two minutes.

Awesome. That's awesome.

Then why does your face say "non-awesome?"

Because I'm the manager.

It's my job to book gigs for Brooklyn and Malibu,

my two best friends in the whole world.

But it turns out I can't.

They'd be better off with you.

Hey. Remember the time you mixed green tie-dye,

red plaid and leopard print on the same jacket?

Mm-hmm. They said it couldn't be done.

But you did. And it could.

That jacket was amazing.

-It's a gift. -See?

You can make anything work. Like this manager job.

You just gotta turn on the charm.

Me? I always turn on the charm. I am the charm.

Well, usually.

It's just that this feels different.

I get nervous because I don't want to let them down.

No way.

You've always told me to believe in myself,

and I listened.

Maybe you should start listening to yourself.

Hmph. I am pretty wise. And so are you.

This is why I like watching birds, not chasing them.

This isn't working.

We gotta get her to come to us.

Right. We'll just get her to come to us.

How do we get her to come to us?

My birdwatching group uses calls.

So you're fluent in bird?

I wouldn't say fluent, but how hard can it be?

I mean, for pigeons it's probably something like...

Ooh, ooh! I think it's something like...

Well, that didn't work.

Nope. And my neck hurts.

I should've had you get me a smoothie.

It was good.

Wait, that's it.

We can lure Princess with treats.

What do you think she likes?

Let's ask her bestie.

Hey Magnifico. Barbies here.

Do you have my Princess?! How is my sweet?

She's good. So good.

Right here, she's totally waving to you.

Hi, best friend. Tell her I'm waving back.

Listen. Does Princess have a favorite snack?

Well, there is one thing she can't resist.

The best decision you'll ever make.

Better than those Pierre Baguette shoes, my friend,

which are may I just say nothing short of perfection.

They are surprisingly comfortable too.

We have a deal.

And before you leave there's a few people I want you to meet.

Told ya.

Those Barbies are lucky to have you.

I know, right?

But you totally helped and I really appreciate it.

Learned from the best.

And speaking of the exact opposite of best,

isn't it almost time for Magnifico's next show?

Ooh, it's in 20 minutes.

We got to wrap this up quick.

We promised the girls we'd be there.

That guy should change his name from Magnifico to Magnifican't.

Got it!

That looks good. If Princess doesn't want it...

Here you go Petunia. It's your favorite.

Mmm, poppy.

Um, Princess... Any time now!

Malibu, duck!

Duck, pigeons.

Now!

Brooklyn, jump!

They're everywhere.

Catch!

Ah!

No!

And she's gone.

And so was our best sh*t at catching her.

But hey, one bite left.

Are we giving up? We've tried everything.

Everything except not giving up.

Rafa did say...

The show must go on.

Too bad this isn't a show,

because she really does have talent.

Wait. If she loves to perform as much as we do...

The call of the stage is impossible to resist.

Birds of a feather do flock together.

It's showtime.

Good afternoon New York.

We have a beautiful show for you.

It has heart, joy, and wings.

Wish I had wings just like our Princess,

fly to the sky, can't help but impress.

Dazzling, daring, talent for miles.

Flips and tricks and a great sense of style.

So, let's welcome our Princess to the show.

Are you all excited? Come on, let her know.

Princess! Princess! Princess!

Let's go Princess!

Go Princess!

-We love you Princess! -That's some pigeon.

Did you see the pigeon?

Now that was a show.

Wait, show! Magnifico's show!

We have to get Princess back to him before the finale.

Listen, I know I can totally handle stuff on my own,

but why don't you co-manage the Barbies with me?

I appreciate the offer...

Fantastic. I'll have my people call your people.

I mean, I am my people so I'll just call you.

But I can't.

I'm a kid and I've got my own kid stuff to do.

Sure. I get it.

You know, maybe when I'm older. Like 12 or 13.

But if you ever need help

remembering how great you are I'm totally there.

Deal.

Ah! I can't wait to tell Malibu and Brooklyn

about all the gigs we're going...

Ladies. Wait, why are you here?

Why aren't you at Magnifico's show?

Long story.

Too long. And we're late.

But just so you know Rafa, your whole

"the show must go on" advice really saved the day.

He did a lot more than that. He got you real gigs.

Like singing gigs?

Listen. Your days of watching paint dry?

Officially over.

And for my final trick, keep your eyes on the handkerchief.

The final trick!

We're too late!

The show... must... go on.

You came here to see some magic?

So let's see some magic.

This may look empty.

But Princess is here. Not there!

So, he's about to... No, no, no, no!

But voilà!

But how?

Wow. I guess Magnifican.

Thank you for all your help today.

I feel like a real performer now.

You were great.

And sorry we scared Princess off.

Oh, you got her back. That's what matters.

But we gotta know.

How did you pull off that last trick?

Because Princess was still in Malibu's hands.

Magic!

- -It's real, you know.

Right, Princess Petunia?

Princess?

I've got an idea.

Princess! Princess! Princess!

Yeah! Go, Princess!

Oh, wow, that's my favorite pigeon.

Oh, I love you so much.

Now, that's a star.

Princess, saw your act. Big fan. You got a manager?
