♪ ♪

children:

♪ They're two, they're four ♪

♪ They're six, they're eight ♪

♪ Shunting trucks

and hauling freight ♪

♪ Red and green

and brown and blue ♪

♪ They're the Really

Useful Crew ♪

♪ All with different roles

to play ♪

♪ Round Tidmouth Sheds

or far away ♪

♪ Down the hills

and round the bends ♪

♪ Thomas and his friends ♪

[whistle toots]

[steam hisses]

male narrator:

"Stuck in Gear."

It was the morning

after a heavy storm

hit the Island of Sodor.

[whistling]

Some of the trees had been

damaged by the strong winds.

The rain had filled the rivers

and some of the lines

were flooded.

There was quite a bit

of clearing up to do.

[upbeat music]

♪ ♪

- [chuckles]

[gasps]

Ugh!

[sighs]

[gasps]

Ahhh!

[wheels screeching]

[groaning]

Phew.

Oh, now what am I

going to do?

[whistle tooting]

[gasps]

Harvey!

narrator: Harvey is

a cheerful engine

with perhaps the most

distinctive appearance

of any engine on Sodor.

But it's not just

his deep red livery

and square wooden buffers

that make him stand out.

It's the really useful crane

mounted on top of his boiler.

- Ah, hello, Emily.

What do we got here then?

- It's a branch, Harvey.

From a tree.

narrator: Even though Harvey

is a one-of-a-kind engine,

he doesn't like it when

everyone's looking at him

or making a fuss.

- Yay!

Well done, Harvey!

You got it!

[cheering]

Yay!

narrator: It makes him

feel embarrassed.

- [sputtering]

narrator: And when Harvey

gets embarrassed...

- Ahh!

narrator: He does silly things.

- Whoopsie-daisy, Harvey.

[laughter]

Well, you almost had it.

- Ohh...

[steam hissing]

Oh, dear.

More branches.

More like a whole tree.

Ooh, probably a bit much for me

to move on my own.

I'd better go back

and fetch Rocky.

Ah, on the other hook,

I don't need to bother Rocky.

He's probably busy.

Eh, maybe I can just

squeeze under...

[grunting] And push past...

[branches creaking]

[straining] Oh, dear.

I'd better go back.

Uh, oh, no!

Oh, there's nothing else for it.

I'll power forward.

That'll get me out of this jam.

Ha, ha!

Full steam ahead!

[laughing]

[grunting]

Ah, oh!

Ha, ha!

Oh, I made it!

Safe and...

[crane screeching]

Oh, that sounds bad.

I hope no one saw.

narrator: Harvey felt silly

for trying

to push past the tree.

And he felt doubly silly

for getting a branch

stuck in his gears.

It wouldn't have happened

to an engine

who didn't have a crane on top.

- Ah, the best thing to do

is just pretend that

nothing's happened.

Aye, and carry on as normal.

No need to make a fuss.

[metal clanking]

[whistle tooting]

- Hello, Harvey.

[metal clanking]

Oh, what's that terrible noise?

- Oh, uh... [stammering]

It wasn't me.

[laughs nervously]

- Hmm.

narrator: But then,

Harvey's crane stopped

moving completely.

- Ooh! [grunting]

narrator: It was well

and truly stuck.

- Have you finished moving

those crates, Harvey?

- [stammering] Not yet.

- Everything okay?

What's going on, Harvey,

me hearty?

narrator: Harvey didn't want to

make a fuss about his crane.

[light playful music]

♪ ♪

- Oh, I know.

Let's play a game.

- What game?

- I Spy With My Little Eye,

something beginning with, uh,

the letter, uh, O!

- Oh, I love this game.

Ha, ha!

Ah, something beginning O.

Ahar!

Is it an oyster?

- An oyster!

I can't see any oysters, Salty.

- So can you spy something

that begins with an O?

'Cause I can't.

narrator: Harvey didn't

want to stick around

and have the craneless engines

make fun of him.

- Ahh!

[grunting, straining]

No! [grunting]

Ooh, I can't get through.

[scraping]

I have to go back.

Oooh.

- What are you doing, Harvey?!

- Oh, octopus!

Is it an octopus, Harvey?

- What a silly engine.

- [whimpering]

I don't like this at all.

My crane is all stuck.

And I don't want those teasy

engines making fun of me

or making a fuss.

Ooh, I wish I could just...

[whistle blowing]

Hide myself away.

narrator: Harvey was

very embarrassed.

And when he gets embarrassed,

he often does silly things.

- [gasps] Perfect!

I'll hide in that tunnel.

No one will be able to make

a fuss or make fun of me there.

Ha, ha! Yay!

[bang]

Oh!

Oh, I can't even

get inside a tunnel

unless I get my crane fixed.

[sighs]

Ah! That's it!

Maybe I can fix this myself.

I can use the tunnel wall

to push my crane

back the right way.

I'm going to do it.

I'm going to do it!

[bang]

I'm doing it!

I'm doing it!

I'm doing it!

I'm doing it!

Huh?

[clank]

Ooh!

Now I've done it.

[horn blasting]

[dramatic music]

[horn blasting]

Oh, no!

Watch out!

♪ ♪

Salty?

- Ocean!

Was it the ocean, Harvey?

- Ocean? Oh, uh, aye.

Yes.

Oh, Thomas, I do feel silly.

Thank you for helping me.

- No problem, Harvey.

You're always helping

others with your crane.

- I suppose I am. Sometimes.

I did help Emily earlier on.

- So why didn't you just

go to the steam works?

There's nothing wrong

with asking for help

when you need it.

- Oh, I didn't want

to make a fuss

or have any of the other engines

say teasy things

about my crane.

- Harvey, no one makes fun

of a broken-down engine.

And sometimes, a bit of a fuss

is what's needed

to get the job done.

- Ah, you're right.

[chuckling]

narrator: In no time at all,

Harvey was fixed up again

with very little fuss.

- Ah, thank you, Victor!

Ayyy! Whoo-hoo!

This is amazing!

My crane has never moved

so smoothly. [chuckling]

narrator: Harvey's crane

was as good as new--

better than new, even.

Although it did take a bit

of getting used to.

- Hey, look! Oh!

Whoo! Oh, dear.

[crash]

[gulls squawking]

- Hey! Who threw that?!

- Uh, whoops.

Sorry!

Um, I--I don't want

to make a fuss or anything,

but, um, could I have a little

help here, please?

Thank you. [chuckling]

[steam hisses]

[gentle woodwind music]
