[laughter]

♪ ♪

- Whoo-hoo!

[audio whooshing slowly]

♪ ♪

Roar!

[giggles]

Have you ever seen a tiger?

They can be very hard to spot

in the wild.

But when I was working

in India,

I entered tiger territory!

[whistle toots]

All aboard for a big adventure!

♪ ♪

[Thomas narrating]

[percussive music]

Passengers on

the Indian Railway

see a lot of

different things:

beautiful scenery,

ancient ruins, and...

[tiger roaring]

Tigers?

- [laughs]

Yes, people love Noor Jehan's

luxury tiger safari.

She takes them deep into

the jungle and teaches them

how amazingly beautiful,

but also how rare

and fragile the tigers are.

Then they try to spot one.

- Wow! I'd love to see a tiger

in the wild,

with their

orange and black stripes

and loud roars!

♪ ♪

- Everyone, keep a look out

for tigers.

[rustling]

- What's that in the trees?

- I don't believe it.

It's the rarest tiger

of them all...

a Thomas Tiger.

- Roar!

[coughing]

- Hello, Thomas.

- Oh, Shankar.

I was so busy thinking about

tiger safaris,

I didn't see you there.

- Oh, I feel sorry

for those poor tigers.

- Oh, here we go.

- Having their peaceful home

disturbed by

all the tourists.

- Ashima said the safaris

are good for the tigers,

because they teach people

how special they are.

Oh, I'd love to pull

the safari train

and see a tiger in the wild.

- [gasps]

Pulling the safari train

is a job for a royal engine,

like, oh,

I don't know, me?

[laughs]

- Neither of you are pulling

the safari train.

You both have

your own jobs to do.

[whistles toot]

[whistle toots]

[cheerful music]

♪ ♪

- Who wants to go on

a special detour

to Rajiv's Royal

Tiger Safari?

- Me!

- I do.

- Yes, please.

- You can't do that, Rajiv.

You've got your own job to do.

- I can still do my job;

I'll just make it

more exciting.

[whistle toots]

- If Rajiv is going

to spot a tiger,

then so am I.

[dramatic music]

♪ ♪

[trees rustling]

[gasps]

[groans]

I soon

learned that spotting a tiger

was harder than

I thought it would be.

[rustling]

[gasps]

♪ ♪

[birds chirping]

No.

[tiger roaring]

[gasps]

Woah!

That's definitely a tiger.

[horn honks]

Oh, you scared it away.

- Sorry, Thomas,

but have you ever thought

there may be a reason

that tigers are hard to find?

They don't want to be found,

because there are people who

want to hunt and capture them.

- [gasps] No!

Oh dear, I didn't realize...

[whistle toots]

- Rajiv's Royal Tiger Safari

coming through.

Oh, Shankar.

Sorry, I didn't see you there.

You really should think about

a different color paint

so you stand out more.

- Haven't you got passengers

to deliver?

- Yes, I have,

as a matter of fact.

I've been privately hired

by two big tiger fans.

- That'll be us, then.

- We simply love tigers.

- What's that under there?

- Er, yes.

it's our, uh, luggage.

- We've travelled

a long way to find a tiger.

- [gasps]

They're not tiger fans.

They're tiger hunters.

They want to catch a tiger,

not spot one.

- [gasps] Our jobs will have

to wait, Shankar.

We have to protect the tigers!

- Here, kitty kitty kitty!

- Come out, come out,

wherever you are!

- Rajiv!

[whistle toots]

Rajiv.

Oh, thanks for stopping.

- I didn't stop for you.

There's a tree

blocking the track.

I know what you're doing.

You don't want me

to spot a tiger before you.

- Actually, I already

have spotted a tiger,

but that's not what

I wanted to tell you.

I quickly told Rajiv about

the cage

and the tiger hunters.

The tigers are rare

and endangered.

We have to protect them,

Rajiv.

- Oh, Thomas...

You are so right.

But there's a problem.

I promised I'd lead those men

to a tiger,

and they won't leave

until I have.

- Just keep going around

in circles

and leave the rest to me.

- Ooh-hoo! Come one then,

show us a tiger.

♪ ♪

- So, what's the plan?

- So the plan is...

♪ ♪

- I recognize that tree.

- We're just going

around in circles.

- Come on, Thomas,

where are you?

[whistle toots]

- There it is.

- Roar!

- It's going to be a beauty.

- And it's all ours.

- Yes, all ours.

[clank]

both: Huh?

- You mean me?

- Hey, what's going on?

- We've got a tiger to catch.

- Spot.

- Uh. I mean, spot.

- Tiger hunting is not allowed.

[both gasp]

- Uh-oh.

Let's get outta here.

- You're not going anywhere.

[both groan]

- This is an outrage.

- Now, I'm afraid there's been

a terrible misunderstanding.

- Yes.

- I was actually...

- I am very impressed with

your clever and brave actions

to save our tigers.

- Oh, it's all thanks

to Shankar, really.

Shankar?

- He's even harder to spot

than a tiger.

[laughter]

[trees rustling]

[roar]

[ding]

♪ ♪

[bell tolling]

[whistle toots]

- It can be hard for animals

to find places to live

when there are so many people

around all the time.

[steam whooshing]

I remember when Luke made

friends with a young deer,

but the quarry was far too

noisy for the little thing.

The peace and quiet of

the Ulfstead Castle grounds

was a much better home

for the deer.

Rajiv and I both wanted to see

a tiger,

and so did

a lot of other people.

But the tigers didn't

really want to be seen.

And it wasn't always

a good idea

for people to find them

either.

Sometimes the best way

to help animals live happily

and in peace is by leaving

them and their homes alone.

- Come on, Thomas.

- It's time to go.

- See you next time!

[whistle toots]

[upbeat music]

[whistle toots]

- Come on!

- Yeah!

- Let's go!

- Yeah!

- Come on!

[upbeat music]
