[laughter]

- Whoo-hoo!

[slo-mo whooshing]

Have you ever made a mistake?

I know I have.

But once, on Sodor,

James' mistake

caused a problem

for lots of engines.

[whistle toots]

All aboard

for a big adventure!

♪ ♪

[easygoing jazz music]

[Thomas narrating]

♪ ♪

[whistle toots]

- Huh?

- Here's James!

- Ah! Uh!

- Stop, Philip!

What are you doing?

- [laughs]

Are you making mistakes

again, Philip?

- [starts]

- [gasps]

What did you do that for?

- I didn't do anything.

It was you,

and you should say sorry.

- [exasperated sigh]

Okay, then.

I'm sorry for messing you up,

my beautiful,

splendid paintwork.

- [scoffs]

To me, not your paintwork!

- [whistle toots]

- [growls]

[whimsical music]

- Ah, I do love

a good wash.

[whistle toots]

♪ ♪

- Huh?

♪ ♪

- My turn!

- [gasps]

No, it's not, James!

Say sorry for cutting in

and go back!

- [laughs]

But that would be

like saying sorry

for being bigger, faster,

and more splendid

than you are!

- Hmph.

- Right, uh, first up,

I've got cars of sardines

that need delivering.

- [clears throat]

- Eh? Oh.

Oh.

- Sardines?

What are they?

- Little fish, James.

[awkward brass musical tone]

- Eww!

Smelly.

- [whistle blows]

James can do that job, sir.

He loves being the first

to jump in.

- Oh, I can hear someone

calling out my name.

"James, we've got

an important job

for a splendid engine

like you."

- Huh?

- You heard him.

Gotta go.

Important job calling.

- Wait a minute, James.

Ah--oh.

Oh, I guess you can take

the sardines, Philip.

[dramatic music]

- [growls]

[upbeat music]

[whistle toots]

♪ ♪

- One side of the bridge

is closed for repairs, Philip,

so we have to make sure

the track is clear

before you go on.

Okay, all clear.

- [whistle toots]

♪ ♪

[dramatic music]

♪ ♪

- I'm so splendid.

- James, stop!

The track is not clear!

[upbeat music]

- Eh?

♪ ♪

Oh, what is he doing now?

[whistle toots]

- [gasps]

Whoa!

[panting]

Philip,

get out of my way!

- No!

You didn't stop

at the signalman's flag.

You made a mistake!

- Oh, did I?

- Yes, you did,

so you need to reverse

and you need to say sorry.

You've been unfair,

and quite frankly,

not very nice.

- [gasps]

What do you mean?

- Well, you didn't say sorry...

- [whistle toots]

- When you knocked the crates

into me at the docks,

you didn't say sorry

when you splattered us both

with oil...

- [whistle blows]

- You didn't say sorry

when you jumped ahead of me

on the wash-down,

and now,

you're blocking the bridge.

- Are you okay, Paxton?

Do you need a little push?

- It's not me!

It's Thomas!

- It's not me.

It's Philip!

- It's not me!

It's James!

So you need

to say sorry.

Please.

- I don't make mistakes!

You're probably the one

who made the mistake.

Look at all the engines

you're holding up.

- Oh, dear.

There are a lot

of engines on the bridge,

and they're still repairing it!

I hope it doesn't collapse.

- [gasps]

- Oh, I don't think

it's going to--

- Did you hear that?

We need to move!

- Otherwise,

the bridge will collapse!

- [frightened groan]

[harp scales]

[rumbling]

[ominous music]

♪ ♪

[wooden crunch]

[whimsically dramatic music]

♪ ♪

[electronic music]

♪ ♪

- My paint!

- My sardines!

- I fell in the water.

[spritely horn music]

- Don't worry!

I won't let that happen!

It's time to move on!

- [sighs]

At last!

- And if James isn't going

to reverse,

then we will.

Excuse me, Thomas.

[whistle toots]

- Back up, Paxton!

[whistle toots]

- Oh, uh, okay.

Beep, beep, Rebecca!

- [whistle blows]

[whimsical music]

♪ ♪

- Splendid engine,

coming through!

- Hmph.

♪ ♪

- This is ridiculous.

- Really, James!

- You should've moved.

- [uncertain quavering]

[forte horn music]

♪ ♪

- Well, James,

what do you have to say

about the big delay

you caused earlier, mm?

- I...

I'm sorry that I went

past the signalman's flag.

- And...?

- And I'm sorry for

the other things,

too, Philip.

- James...

- Apology accepted!

- Whew.

- Ah, wait there

just a minute, James.

I think you'd better apologize

to everyone else you held up

as well.

- And I'm sorry,

Thomas, Annie, Clarabel,

Paxton, and Rebecca,

for causing you such...

delay.

- Very well.

Now that's all sorted,

time to get back to work.

Now, who is going to deliver

these cars of rubbish

to the waste dump?

[upbeat jazz music]

- Want to jump in first, James?

- Oh...

- "Yeah!

I'd love to!"

[laughter]

- [laughs]

Oh.

[bell ringing]

- [whistle toots]

Everyone makes mistakes,

but things can get

much worse

if we don't admit them

and say sorry.

[steam hissing]

Once, I was too embarrassed

to admit that I had made

a mistake,

so I made up

an engine called "Jeffrey"

and blamed him!

But that made things

even worse.

Saying sorry can be

really hard to do.

Once, Diesel found it so hard

to apologize to Daisy,

he only said sorry

when he thought

she was asleep.

James also found it

very hard to say sorry,

but in the end,

he apologized to everyone

for blocking the bridge.

[steam hissing]

Even though

it's not always easy

to say sorry,

it is a very important thing

to do.

It shows your friends

that you care...

[whistle blows]

About their feelings.

- Come on, Thomas!

- It's time to go.

- See you next time!

[whistle toots]

[peppy rock music]

[children singing]

[whistle blowing]

- [whistle toots]
