[narrator] There nothing Thomas likes more

than pulling Annie and Clarabel along his branch line.

But even though his coaches are very faithful,

they do sometimes complain.

Especially when Thomas goes a bit too fast.

He's doing ti again, Clarabel.

I agree, Annie.He's going dreadfully fast.

[laughing] I can hear you two.

[narrator] One day, Annie and Clarabel were complaining as usual.

Thomas, slow down!

My cut-links are cluttering.

[narrator] So Thomas decided to be a little cheeky.

[giggles]

Oh, deary me!What are you doing, Thomas?

Now you're going too slow.

You'll need to speed upif you're going to get usanywhere on time.

But I thought, you wanted meto go slowly.

Oh, well,if you want me to go fast...

[laughing]

Cluttering carriages!

[narrator] By the time Thomas arrived at Dryaw Station,

he was running rather late.

[Thomas gasps]Cinders and ashes!I'm supposed to be taking

some cars to the quarryafter this.

-[stationmaster whistles]-[Thomas whistles]

Ooh!

[narrator] Meanwhile, Caitlin was pulling into the shunting yard.

Caitlin was a very fast engine, indeed.

[whistles]

Hello, Caitlin.What are you doing here?

I've been going so fastI've loosened some bolts,Charlie.

I need to go to the steamworksand get them tightened.

Can I leave my coaches hereand come back for them later?

Sure thing, Caitlin.

[whistles]

[narrator] As Caitlin pulled away, Thomas arrived at the shunting yard.

Sorry, Annie and Clarabel,I'll have to leave you herefor a while.

I'm late for the quarry.

Well, if you hadn't beenmessing around, Thomas,

this wouldn't have happened.

Yes! Too much going too fast,then too much going too slow.

[footsteps]

[tools working on metal]

[whistles three times]

[narrator] Thomas hurried up to the quarry as fast as he could.

[whistling]

Thanks, Thomas.

Empty cars, and just in time.

[panting] You're welcome,Mavis.

[panting and whistling]

[narrator] Then, he hurried back from the quarry.

But...

[snoring]

...Caitlin came back to the shunting yard first.

I've come to collectmy coaches, Charlie.

Coming, Caitlin.

Oh, I've got a joke for you!

How do bees get to school?

Uh, I don't know.

On a school buzz!

[whistling]

[narrator] Charlie was so busy joking,

he accidentally shunted Annie and Clarabel over to Caitlin,

along with her own coaches.

Oh, Thomas must be back.

About time, too!

[yawning]

[whistling]

Now, don't go too fast, Thomas.

[engine whistles]

Huh! Thomas?

You're over there!

Well, if he's over therethen who is pulling us?

[engine whistling]

Fizzling fireboxes!

Wait, Caitlin! Come back!

This is the fastestwe've ever been!

[narrator] At last Catlin stopped at Wellsworth Station.

Hello, Connor. How abouta race up to Ulfstead Castle?

[narrator] Thomas puffed as fast as he could.

But before he could get up to Ulfstead Castle...

Caitlin! [whistles]

Thomas!

Annie, Clarabel!

[both] Thomas!

[narrator] Caitlin was already on her way back,

heading for the mainland.

Oh, no!

[narrator] Thomas had to stop Caitlin

before she went over the Vicarstown Bridge to the mainland.

Oh, no!

I'm too late.

I'll never be ableto catch up with Caitlin now.

[toots]

Hello, Hiro.

It's a good thingI've stopped Caitlin.

She was takingyour coaches away.

Annie and Clarabel!

[narrator] Thomas wanted to go even faster

but he was so happy to have Annie and Clarabel back

he just smiled.

Although, you are goinga bit fast now.

[Clarabel] Much too fast,if you ask me.
