[ Squawking ]

All: whoa!

[ All laughing ]

[ Gulls cawing... ]

[ Ship's bell ringing ]

Little bear: all hands on deck.

Hoist the sail!

[ Laughs ]

Is this how you do it, father bear?

Exactly how, little bear.

[ Another ship's bell ringing ]

Wow!

Did you hear that?

Yes, little bear.

That was another ship saying good night.

But it can't be time for sleep yet.

When the stars come out, it will be time for sleep.

[ Sighs ]

Father bear, look!

I'm in the water.

And so is the moon.

[ Laughs ]

Well, come back on deck, little bear

And put the moon back in the sky.

[ Laughs ]

[ Sighs ]

[ Grunts ]

[ Owl hooting ]

Are we sleeping outside?

Why not? It's such a lovely night.

The sky looks so big

And there are so many stars.

Sailors and stars have been friends for years.

The stars are your friends?

Mm-hmm. I know the north star quite well.

Can I meet him?

Of course.

He's right over there.

Can you see the big dipper?

It looks like a big spoon.

Yes, I see it!

And that's the north star

The next brightest star in the sky.

I see it, I see it!

Hello, north star.

When I want to go home, I find him

And he leads me back

To you and mother bear.

I like the north star.

He brings you home to me.

Look over there, little bear.

That group of stars?

That's leo, the lion.

A lion?

[ Growls ]

I saw him!

I saw the lion!

[ Chuckles ]

Father bear, did you see that?

That was a sh**ting star.

Did you know there are fish

That swim in the sky, too?

There are?

Uh-huh.

Look over there.

That's pisces.

Fish, in the sky?

I see them!

And look, little bear

Over there, where the stars

Seem to pour out of the sky--

That's the milky way.

We'll take two bottles, please.

[ Both laugh ]

Did you know that there are bears in the sky?

Bears? Where?

Look over there, little bear.

There's the big bear

And there's the little bear.

Just like you and me!

Just like you and me.

[ Laughs ]

[ Crickets chirping ]

[ Owl hooting in distance ]

When I'm a sailor, I'll be friends

With all the stars, too.

And the stars will always be there to guide you.

[ Blows out lamp ]

[ Sighs ]

Good night, father bear.

Good night, little bear.

[ Little bear sighs ]

It's so beautiful.

Bears in the sky.

A big bear...

And a little bear.

A big bear...

And a little bear.

Hello, mr. Leo.

[ Roars ]

Whoa!

[ Thud ]

[ Roars ]

[ Thud ]

[ Roars ]

[ Snorting ]

[ Roaring ]

[ Snorting ]

[ Roaring ]

[ Crash ]

Whoa!

[ Grunts ]

The big dipper!

Any milk for me today?

Whoa!

[ Laughing ]

Whoa, whoa!

[ Splash ]

Ooh...!

Amazing.

[ Grunts ]

[ Laughs ]

[ Grunts ]

[ Grunts ]

[ Grunting ]

I've got the fish, father bear!

Father bear?

Where's father bear?

Father bear?

I know.

I'll find the north star.

He'll bring me home to father bear.

[ Birds singing ]

[ Chirps ]

[ Squawking ]

[ Gulls cawing ]

Father bear, I found you.

Father bear, wake up!

[ Yawns ]

What is it, little bear?

Guess where I went last night?

[ Groans ]

To sleep?

No, to the milky way.

And you were there.

But then you disappeared

And I couldn't find you.

So I followed the north star

And he brought me home. Look!

There's the north star.

Very good, little bear.

Someday, you'll make a fine sailor.

Thank you for showing me the stars, father bear.

Now I've got some new friends.

Thank you, north star

For bringing little bear home.

[ Sighs ]

[ Hammering... ]

[ Birds singing ]

[ Sighs ]

[ Sighs ]

One more ought to do it.

You finish the job.

No problem.

Hold it in two hands...

Rest it on the nail...

Okay, keep your eye on the nail...

And hit it.

[ Grunts ]

Once more ought to do it.

[ Grunts ]

I did it!

You did.

[ Creaking ]

There.

We did it!

We certainly did, little bear.

Father bear?

Mm-hmm?

Do you need this piece of wood?

Oh, not really.

What about this one?

Uh, no.

And this one?

No.

Mother bear will want all this cleaned up

Before she gets back.

Yeah...

And we don't really have

Anyplace to keep all this old wood.

Hmm. What should we do?

I could...

Build something.

That's a great idea.

What are you going to build?

A surprise!

A surprise?

What kind of surprise?

Hmm...

I won't know until I build it.

That's why it's a surprise.

Thanks.

Hello, little bear!

[ Quacks ]

New gate.

Hello, duck.

What are you doing?

I'm building a surprise.

A surprise?

Ooh, I love surprises.

Can I help?

You can bring that piece of wood

Over here.

[ Grunting ]

[ Grunting... ]

This is a heavy piece of wood!

Duck, you're standing on it.

Huh?

Oops.

[ Giggles ]

Silly me.

There.

It's beautiful!

I love it!

What is it?

It's a... Uh...

Surprise!

[ Laughing... ]

[ Continues laughing... ]

Well... I thought it was funny.

[ Clucking ]

Hello, hello.

Hello, hen.

Hold this, please.

[ Clucks ]

[ Hammering ]

Thanks.

[ Continues hammering ]

What are you doing?

We're building a surprise

And I'm helping.

Well, I'm helping, too.

[ Both yelp ]

[ Both grunt ]

[ Clucking ]

Both: ah...

[ Clucks ]

Very interesting.

It's beautiful.

It's hard work building a surprise.

I'm thirsty.

[ Hooting ]

Hello, little bear.

What are you building?

It's a surprise.

And we're helping!

Can I help, too?

Ooh...

[ Both grunting... ]

Oh!

[ Yelps ]

Ah...

[ Quacking and grunting... ]

Wow!

Well, it's finished.

Hmm.

Ooh.

Ah...

Hmm...

Hmm...

Uh...

Is it still a surprise?

Well...

It's obvious.

I-it's obvious.

Yes. That's, that's it.

That's exactly what it is... Obviously.

Obviously what?

Obviously it's...

A surprise.

Surprise.

Well... Thanks for helping, everybody.

I'm thirsty.

What I wouldn't give for a refreshment.

A nice, tall glass of...

Wait a minute!

I know.

It's beautiful.

I love it.

Duck: I love it, too!

But what is it?

[ Little bear grunts ] it's...

A lemonade stand.

Surprise!

Of course!

A lemonade stand.

[ Door opens ]

Mother bear: anybody thirsty?

I thought I'd make some fresh lemonade.

[ All cheering... ]

[ Sighs ]

Hello, duck.

[ Sadly ]: hello, little bear.

What's the matter?

All the puddles are frozen solid.

There's nowhere to splash or swim.

Hmm...[ Ice cracking ]

Maybe you should come with me, to the north pole.

The north pole?

Do they have puddles there?

I don't think so.

It's where the snow comes from.

It's very cold

And nobody lives there.

Then why would you want to go there?

Because that's where

Explorers go.

It would be an adventure.

Okay.

It's better than sitting

On a frozen pond, I guess.

You do... Know how...

To get... To the north pole... Don't you?

Oh, yes.

I'll just use this.

Oh...

What is it?

A compass.

And that shows us the way to the north pole?

All you have to do is point it at the "n"

And follow the arrow.

Oh...

Can I hold it?

Sure.

Just follow the "n."

Is that right?

Uh-huh.

Just follow the "n."

Uh, duck?

Just follow the "n."

Uh, duck?

Oof!

Wha...?!

Oops.

[ Groaning ]

Little bear, I found it!

This is where the snow comes from, and it's pointing to "n."

I found the north pole!

The north pole?

You're miles away.

[ Laughing ]

But the compass said so.

This isn't the north pole, duck.

Nobody lives at the north pole, remember?

Oh, I forgot.

But we must be close.

Maybe I should use the compass.

Good idea.

Compasses make my head hurt.

Little bear: this looks like a good place to...

Slide!

You see, duck?

Explorers have all kinds of adventures.

Come on, duck.

[ Quacks ]

[ Thud ]

[ Groans ]

[ Playful shouting... ]

Look out!

sh**t! Over here!

[ All laughing ]

Whoa...!

Ooh!

Hello.

Who are you?

I'm little bear.

This is duck.

We're explorers.

The explorers?

Never heard of them before.

Anyway, do you want to play?

Uh, sure, I guess.

But you don't have tails like us.

No, we don't.

That's all right.

We'll get you a stick.

We'll get you two.

Thanks.

Come on.

I'm not sure I know how to play.

Hmm...

You'd better stand here and be the stopper.

Uh... The stopper?

What am I supposed to stop?

Ready?

Sure, I guess.

Go!

Come on!

Whoa!

[ All talking and shouting... ]

[ Quacks ]

[ Quacks ]

Whoa!

Huh?

Whoa...!

Whoa!

He scores!

I did?

Duck: yeah... Oof!

[ All cheering... ]

[ Quacking, beavers cheering ]

I thought you said you didn't know how to play.

I don't.

Well, you're good.

You can play for us anytime.

Thank you, but we're really explorers.

We're going to the north pole.

Good luck.

Hmm... Maybe we should start using these sticks.

Duck: we must be getting close to the north pole.

It's getting awfully cold.

Here, you can have my scarf.

Thank you, little bear.

[ Wind blowing strongly... ]

I can't see!

Neither can i.

Oof!

Hello, moose.

Hello, little ones.

Where are you off to?

We're going to the north pole.

Do you know if we're close?

Hmm, you might try those hills up ahead.

Well, could you give us a ride?

As I've always said

"Getting there is half the fun."

Hang on.

[ Both laughing excitedly... ]

Little bear: whee! Whee!

[ Laughter continues... ]

Look, duck.

It's pointing to "n," duck.

This is where the snow must come from, little bear.

We found it, duck-- the north pole!

Yay! Hooray!

[ Cheering, quacking and laughing... ]

Wow...

The north pole.

So, now what do we do?

Uh...

I know.

Let's take it back with us.

We'll give the north pole to mother bear as a present.

[ Both grunting... ]

Here, let me help.

[ Grunts ]

Both:yay!

Little bear: thank you, moose.

[ Duck quacking excitedly... ]

We're real explorers now, duck.

We found the north pole.

And even better than that

I found a nice, warm puddle to splash in.

[ Laughing and quacking... ]

[ Little bear laughing... ]
