[ Birds singing]

[ Owl hooting...]

[ Hen squawks]

Cat: boo!

[ Squawking]

All: whoa!

[ All laughing]

[ Singing]

Little bear: it's emily's birthday!

[ Singing...]

It's emily's birthday!

[ Giggles]

Hello, birds.

Emily's seven today

And I'm going to be the first one

To wish her a happy birthday.

Happy birthday, emily!

[ Tutu barking]

Good morning to you, too, little bear.

Good morning, granny.

[ Barking]

Good morning, tutu.

You're here bright and early.

Today's emily's birthday.

Really?

But you already knew that.

You're making a cake.

[ Sniffs]

Mmm.

Where's emily?

She's still sleeping.

Oh... Am I the first one here

For the birthday party?

Yes, you are.

She's going to sleep right through her birthday.

It's still quite early.

I'm going to wake her up.

Want to lick the spoon?

Okay.

Thanks.

[ Tutu whimpering]

[ Whimpering, barks]

Yes, and tutu, too.

[ Panting, barks]

You're welcome.

[ Slurping]

[ Giggling]

Emily:ta-da!

Granny: do you like

Your new dress?

I love it!

It's beautiful.

Lucy likes hers, too.

Happy birthday, emily!

Thanks, little bear.

Do you like my new dress?

It's nice.

Doesn't it make me look all grown up?

All grown up?

It certainly does, dear.

You look lovely.

What do you mean, all grown up?

You're only seven years old.

Today I'm only seven

But next year I'll be eight, then nine, then ten, then--

Wait!

What?

You don't want to be eight, then nine, then ten.

Of course I do.

Oh.

[ Tutu barking]

Look at all the balloons!

Little bear brought them for the party.

Thank you, little bear.

I can't wait

For everyone to get here

So we can start the party.

Me, too.

What games should we play?

I like egg and spoon race, but it's your birthday.

You get to choose.

I like egg and spoon race, too.

We'll play that one.

[ Barking]

[ Gasps]

Oh, lucy, come back.

I'll save you!

[ Giggles]

[ Grunting in exertion]

I can't reach.

Let me try.

I'm taller.

There.

[ Sighs]

Thank you for the balloons, little bear.

You're welcome.

They're perfect.

Lucy likes them, too.

You're welcome, lucy.

[ Knocking]

More party guests!

All: happy birthday, emily.

Oh, there you go, duck.

There you go.

Okay.

[ Laughs]

That's a funny hat.

[ Bells jingle]

Okay, everybody.

How about a game of egg and spoon?

[ Laughing, shouting]

I'm going to win.

I assure you that I'm going as fast as I possibly can.

I've got it.

Yay!

Great!

Oh, good one, cat.

[ Chatters]

[ All gasp]

Granny always uses hard-boiled eggs...

Just in case.

It's more fun the other way.

Now it's time for the birthday girl

To blow out the candles.

Little bear, come sit next to me.

Okay.

Now, there's a tradition in our family

That you get a kiss on your birthday.

One kiss for every year.

Everyone count.

All: one.

Two.

Three.

Four.

Five.

Six.

Seven!

And one to grow on.

Little bear: no!

Don't grow.

But little bear--

You're already older than me

And taller than me.

I don't want you to grow up.

Why not?

Because if you grow up

Then you'll go away and I'll never see you again.

Oh, little bear.

You're growing up, too.

But I'm not even seven.

Not yet.

But someday you'll be seven

Then eight, then nine, then ten.

We'll both grow up together.

But that's not going to happen for a long time.

Well, I'm in no hurry.

Me neither.

I'm in a big hurry... To have some cake!

Blow out the candles, emily.

Wait! I want to give emily her birthday present.

Close your eyes.

Ooh! What is it, what is it?

No peeking.

You can open your eyes now.

Go ahead, open it.

I'll help.

Oh, little bear.

It's lovely.

Ooh...

Ah...

What is it?

It's a locket.

Oh.oh.

Now the candles.

Then some cake?

Wait!

Now what?

Look inside.

Oh, little bear, it's wonderful.

This way we'll always be together.

No matter how much we grow up.

Right!

[ Barking]

[ Inhales deeply]

Wait.

No, not again!

[ All groaning]

I might need some help.

[ Both inhaling]

All: happy birthday!

Happy birthday, dear.

Both: mmm.

[ Sighs]

Let's do something.

We are doing something.

Something exciting.

Like what?

I don't know.

Deep voice: om...

Om.

Hey, look at those leaves.

It looks like they're racing.

Yes. I bet the yellow one wins.

Where's the finish line?

Duck.

Duck's the finish line.

I'm a what?

I say the brown leaf wins.

I'm green.

Go, green!

Green!

Brownie brown!

Yellow, yellow!

Quack!

[ All three groan]

Duck, you were the finish line.

Huh?

Yellow was going to win.

No, the brown leaf was the winner.

Om.

Maybe frog knows.

Frog, did you see which leaf won the race?

A leaf does not race.

A leaf is just a leaf.

The yellow leaf won.

The brown.

Winning isn't everything.

Oh?

Now what do we do?

I know, we can have our own race.

Our own race?

Not just a race, a great race.

Let's have a great race!

A great race!

Yeah!

What's a great race?

It's... It's...

When you race really, really far.

How far?

Along the stream

Through the bushes and the woods

And across the field with the tall grass

And through more woods

And the first one to get to my house wins.

That is far.

Ooh...

[ Grunting]

What are you doing?

I'm stretching.

You have to stretch

To get ready for a great race.

Stretching?

[ Laughs]

That's not stretching.

This is stretching.

[ Purrs contentedly]

[ Both grunting]

Om.

The sooner a race is begun

The sooner a race will be finished.

Frog's right.

On your mark, get set...

All: go!

[ Yelps]

[ Shouts]

I'm winning!

Not for long.

[ Quacking]

Duck, stop and let me down.

Winning isn't everything!

[ Gasps]

I'm winning.

I'm winning.

I'm wi--

Whoa...

That looks like fun.

[ Both giggling]

[ Screaming...]

[ Purrs]

Quack!

I can't see anything.

Which way is it?

Stop.

I will find the way.

That way.

I can't see.

[ Squeaks]

Where am i?

I'm lost.

Hey!

[ Quacking]

We're winning.

We're winning!

We are?

Go faster.

Faster!

Whoa, what are you doing?

You said faster.

I meant on the ground!

Oh...

Quack!

I wonder if we're still winning.

Oh!

Little bear: whoa!

I'm going to win.

[ Grunting]

Whoa...

That was fun.

Here I come!

Whoa!

[ Meows]

This is as fun as a ball of string.

Whee!

[ All laughing]

What's going on down there?

All: moose.

We fell in this ditch, and we can't get out.

Maybe I can help.

Grab onto my antlers.

Good idea, moose.

[ Grunting]

[ Squawks]

Wait for me!

[ Grunting]

[ Meows]

[ All sigh]

Let's go.

We're going to win this race.

I'm too tired.

Me too.

Me three.

Me four.

How did you get so tired?

We've been having a great race.

A great race?

Where are you racing?

We're racing to little bear's house.

In order to race, one must be moving.

Do you mind if I race, too?

Sure.

Excellent idea.

Good idea.

Can't you go any faster?

Okay.

Hold on.

Whoa!

This is fun!

[ Laughing, exclaiming]

We're here!

We finished the great race!

Well, who won?

Hmm...

Well, we all got here at the same time.

So I guess we all won.

I won!

I won!

The first one

Who gets to little bear's house wins.

So I won the great race.

Frog, I thought you said winning wasn't important.

Yes, little bear.

That is correct.

But it sure feels good!

Hoo-hoo!

[ Giggling]

Frog!

Little bear: oh, frog.

Om...

Little bear: mmm, I couldn't eat another bite.

Emily: neither can i.

There's two cookies left.

[ Sighs] I'm full.

I'll have one.

Well, maybe I could eat one more.

Well, that's it for the cookies.

[ Tutu barking]

Cat:tutu!

Hey.

Give the ball back.

Look at tutu.

[ Barking...]

[ Whimpering]

I think tutu misses her days in the circus.

Hmm... I know;

Why don't we have our own circus?

Tutu?

Do you want to be in our circus?

[ Barking]

[ Giggling]

I think that's a yes.

The circus?

[ Meows]

Are we going to the circus?

Oh, I love the circus.

Especially the lions and the tigers.

[ Meows]

[ Clucks] circus?

We're going to a circus?

We're not going tothe circus.

We're going to make our own circus.

You're going to need a trapeze act.

[ Chattering]

Good idea, mitzi.

I'm going to be an acrobat, too.

Ta-da!

I can juggle, a little...

With a bit of practice.

I'll be a ferocious cat.

[ Growls softly]

I'll be the brave lion tamer.

Oh, really?

I can do something.

I know I can.

Can I be a magician?

Sure, come on, everybody.

Let's start practicing.

[ Meows, snarls, hisses]

[ Yipping]

[ Whimpers]

[ Barks]

[ Quacks softly]

[ Giggles]

[ Clucking]

[ Clucks]

[ Clucking]

Oh, dear, dear, dear, dear me!

Hmm...

[ Mitzi chatters]

All right.

Is everybody ready?

[ Chorus of approval]

Let the little bear circus begin!

Introducing emily, the brave lion tamer

And her ferocious cat.

[ Meows loudly]

Whoo! Yay!quack, quack!

You ferocious cat, I have no fear of you

For I am emily, the cat tamer.

Jump through the hoop, ferocious cat.

[ Haughtily]: I don't jump through hoops.

I command you to jump!

Oh, all right.

Just to show you how easy it is.

[ Meows]

[ Barks]

[ All cheer]

Thank you, thank you.

Thank you.

[ Barks]

All: yeah!

Yes.

You too, tutu.

And now, the amazing mitzi.

[ Chatters]

Look.[ Oohing and ahing]

[ Audience gasps]

Oh, dear, dear, dear, dear, dear, dear me!

[ Tutu barks, duck quacks, little bear giggles]

Little bear: hooray!

[ All cheer]

Introducing tutu, the terrific!

[ Yipping]

[ Yelps]

[ Applause]

And now, watch hen do her incredible balancing act.

[ Clucking...]

[ Clucks]

[ Cheering]

Very good, hen.

Now, be amazed as our magic duck

Performs amazing feats of magic, right before your eyes.

How does she do it?

Watch very carefully as the amazing me

Makes this cookie disappear.

Abracadabra!

[ Oohs and ahs...]

Ah...

[ Gobbling...]

[ Muffled]: ta-da!

[ Gagging]

[ Giggles]

[ Cheering...]

And now, the one, the only owl!

[ Otters laughing]

[ Grunts]

The otters!

Perfect.

We need clowns.

Little bear: otters, you can be the clowns.

Clowns?us?

Sure.why not?

[ All laughing merrily]

Otter : let me in, too!

Otter : it's my turn!

[ Gasps]

[ All cheering]

Otters!

Okay now, otters.

It's time for the grand finale.

Grand finale?

Finally.

Otter: let's do it!

Alley-oop! Let me on!it's my turn!

Otters!

Ta-da!

Otters!

Not your finale--

Little bear's finale.

All: oh.

[ Otters grunt]

And now, ladies and gentlemen, I direct your attention

To the center ring for... Little bear!

[ Cheering]

Mitzi!

Audience: yay!

Tutu!

[ Barks]

[ Barks]

[ Barks]

All: ta-da!

[ All cheering]

Hen: amazing!

Oh, wait, stop, ouch!

[ Barks]

Wait a minute! Ow!

Otters: ta-da!

[ Crash]

Hey, you make a good clown, too, little bear.

[ Giggles] thanks.
