One lucky student will getto conduct the school band

In a performancethis afternoon.

- Someone gets to bethe conductor?

That would be awesome.

- I've put each of your nameson these pieces of paper.

Whoever's name I pick

Will get to bethe conductor.

[Piercing note blasts]

- Wow.

- And the conductor will be...

Twist!

- [Squeals]- no way! Wow!

- Wow!

I always wantedto be a conductor.

Now, what does a conductor doexactly?

- Well, a conductoruses the baton

To tell different membersof the band

When they should start playing.

- Oh.- And trumpet...

[Mellow tone reverberates]

- Nice.

- And when they shouldstop playing, and--

[Music stops]

The conductormoves the baton fast

So the band plays fast.

And one, two, three, four.

[Vibrant trumpet music]

And slower...

So they play slower.

[Slow trumpet music]

You can make them play louder...

[Music swells]

- Hey!- Oh!

- [Whispers]softer...

- It's like playingfollow the leader.

- Yeah, the conductoris the leader,

And the musicians in the bandfollow.

- Okay, so fast and slowand loud and low.

I got it.

[Laughter]

- But most importantly,

A good conductoris a good listener.

You have to listento the band

To make sure they'replaying the music correctly.

- Uh-huh.

- Here's the song you'll beconducting the band to play.

- Oh.- Good luck, twist.

- Wow.[Chuckles]

Better--better start practicing,huh?

- Mm-hmm.- Okay.

- Guys, I am gonna bethe best conductor ever.

[Laughter]

- Your baton.

Wow.this is so cool.

When I want them to play,they just play.

A conductor really isthe leader of the band, huh?

[Music speeds up]

[Cymbals ring]

- Wow, that was fast.

- Yeah, the school bandplayed their song a lot slower.

- That was awesome.

- A good conductoris a good leader

And tells the band howto play the music the right way.

- Well, I don't thinkthat was exactly the right way.

- It didn't sound quite right,

Did it, twist?

- [Laughs]

- I don't think twistis listening

To how the music soundedor to us.

[Percussion instrumentsrattling and banging]

[Laughter]

- Hey, check it out.

The junior beatsare having a jam session.

- You, uh, you want meto conduct you or...

All: yeah!- Okay.

Cool, so...[Tapping]

Watch my baton, and you'll knowexactly when to play.

Good, now drum.

[Blender whirs]

I'm sorry.

I was justtesting the baton out.

My bad.- [Laughs]

- I don't thinkit's the baton.

- There's got to be some way

I can make the musicsound right.

Oh, wait a minute.

I got it!

Wouldn't it be cool

If I got a giant remote-controlrobot baton, okay?

And then all I'd have to dois press a button.

The baton could conductthe whole band by itself,

And the musicwould come out perfect.

- That would be cool,

Or you could just listenwhile you're conducting the band

So you can tell uswhen and how

To play the musicthe right way.

- Oh.[Laughs]

Okay, sure, if you stillwant me to do it...
