- Thanks for letting us look through the attic, grandma.

- You're welcome, ruby.

I hope you find what you need for your halloween costumes.

- Wow.

With all this to look through, I'm sure we will.

- Now, while I'm here,

I may as well get my halloween costume.

Now, where did I put that?

Oh, I remember.

- What are you going to be, grandma?

- Well, now, if I told you,

That would spoil the surprise, wouldn't it?

- [Giggles] I guess so.

- And what do you two want to be?

- I think max and I should be

Two characters from a fairy tale.

What do you think, max?

- Roar!

- You always want to be something scary.

Maybe this halloween, you could try something different,

Like a handsome prince.

- Roar.

[Chuckles]

- Maybe something in here will help us decide

Which fairy tale characters to be.

- [Sighs]

- There's so many to choose from.

There's snow white and the prince,

Goldilocks and the three bears.

Um, no, we can't do that. There's only two of us.

How about...

- Roar!

- We need to get serious about finding costumes.

Halloween will be here before we know it.

Why don't you look in this box?

Maybe you'll find something fit for a prince.

Wow, there has to be something here to make costumes from...

[Gasps]

Like this perfect princess dress.

I'm going to try it on right now.

[Humming]

- [Gasps]

- It fits perfectly.

And now let's see how I look.

Hmm.

Well, it's a good start.

What do you think, max?

Max?

Hmm.

Max?

- Roar!

- [Giggles]

The prince doesn't wake sleeping beauty with a roar.

He wakes her with a kiss.

Maybe I should take those vampire teeth for now.

That way, you can concentrate on finding

A good halloween costume to go with my princess dress.

Is that the box you found the gloves in?

- Maybe I'll find a pair of elegant gloves

Fit for a princess.

- [Gasps]

- Have you ever seen such beautiful gloves?

No princess costume is complete without long pink gloves.

Hmm.

It's better, but I still need something extra special

If I'm going to look like a real fairy-tale princess.

- Roar!

- Max, big hairy feet aren't very charming.

Grandma must have better shoes than that.

[Gasps]

Grandma's shoe closet.

Maybe she has some shoes fit for a princess.

Squeak!

- [Gasps]

- Ooh, pink slippers!

And they're a perfect fit.

Huh?

- Roar!

- [Giggles]

Keep looking.

Hold on.

I forgot all about grandma's trunk full of hats.

Thud!

- [Gasps]

- Ooh.

This is the most beautiful tiara I've ever seen,

And I've seen a lot of tiaras.

This will be perfect for my princess costume.

Ooh!

[Laughs]

Oh, I look just like a fairy tale princess.

If only I could decide which fairy tale princess.

Huh?

Max?

What are you doing?

- Roar!

- [Sighs]

Max, there's no fairy tale where a handsome prince

Jumps out and roars at a princess.

And you look more like a beast than a ...

[Gasps]

That's it.

- Avast, ye mateys.

Pirate grandma is here,

And it's your costumes I'm wanting to see.

- [Giggles]

- Here I am, grandma.

- [Gasps]

Why, you look just like a beautiful princess.

- Thank you.

- Well, now, where might that prince of yours be?

[Door creaking]

- [Gasps]

- [Giggles]

- Roar!

- Ooh-hoo, ooh!

- [Giggles]

Here he is.

- Well, you did say you were going to surprise me.

- Can you guess which fairy tale we're from?

- Mmm.

Of course! You're beauty and the beast.

Or should I say "ruby and the beast"?

Hmm.

I think he might be missing something.

- Oh.

I know.

There.

Now max will be even more beastly

When he scares people with his--

- Roar!

- [Laughs]

That's a great face, max.

How do you like mine?

- Grr!

- What wonderful faces you've made up

For your jack-o'-lanterns.

- Thanks, grandma.

- Why don't you two get started

On the halloween decorations while I carve these for you?

- Okay, grandma.

Our house is going to have

The best decorations on the street.

Right, max?

- Grr!

- [Giggles]

Yes, we'll make it a little bit scary

But a little bit fun too.

[Clock chiming] [gasps]

We have to hurry.

Louise and valerie will be here soon

So we can go trick-or-treating.

Oh, I almost forgot.

We have to fill that bowl with candy

For the trick-or-treaters.

Thanks, max.

- Candy.

- [Humming]

Hmm.

We need a little table to set this on,

And I know just where to get it.

You know those candies are for the trick-or-treaters,

Right, max?

Don't worry, max.

You'll get lots of candy when we go trick-or-treating.

Right now, we need to put out the decorations.

- One scary jack-o'-lantern face just like max ordered.

What do you think?

- Grr!

[Both laugh]

- I'll put it outside on the porch,

Where everybunny can see it.

- I'll be right back with yours, ruby.

- Uh, max, could you please open the door for me?

[Door creaks]

Even our door sounds spooky.

[Door creaking]

Oh!

[Giggles nervously]

Uh, max?

Max.

- Candy.

- [Sighs]

I know you like candy,

But that's for the trick-or-treaters

Who come here.

We'll get our own candy when we go out.

- One fun jack-o'-lantern ready for duty.

- [Gasps]

I love it!

It's just like what I drew.

Thanks, grandma.

- [Chuckles] oh, you're welcome, ruby.

Now I'm going to put those pumpkin seeds in the oven

For a yummy treat.

- Mmm, roasted pumpkin seeds.

Don't you just love them, max?

- Candy.

- Yes, I love candy too.

Now I need you to hold the door again.

Maybe not.

There. That'll hold it.

See if you can find some fun decorations in the box,

Okay, max?

- [Sighs]

[Laughs]

[Whispers] candy.

- You are keeping your hands out of the candy bowl,

Aren't you, max?

Thanks, max.

[Giggling] max.

- Candy.

- We need to keep bunny hands and skeleton hands

Out of the candy bowl.

We'll put this where it belongs

And this where little bunny brothers can't reach it.

- So how are you doing with the decorations?

- Okay, but we need to hurry.

Louise and valerie will be here soon.

Grandma, can you help me get these up high?

- Your wish is my command, princess ruby.

- [Giggles]

Do you see any balloons in the box?

- [Sighs]

[Gasps]

[Whispers] candy.

- There. Perfect.

- [Sniffs] oh!

I'd better go and check on those pumpkin seeds.

- Did you find the balloons?

Hmm.

I wonder where the candy went.

- Candy.

- [Chuckles]

Nice try, but we need to keep the candies in the bowl...

- [Groans]

And we need you to stop thinking about them.

[Gasps]

Maybe if you don't see candy

You won't think about candy.

Using this cape, I can make those candies disappear.

Now you see them,

Now you don't.

Ta-da!

Now, I've got to get these balloons blown up.

Okay, I need your finger to hold this balloon

While I tie it up.

Max?

Hmm.

[Air sputtering] oops!

- Roasted pumpkin seeds.

Oh!

- Sorry, grandma.

- Don't worry, ruby.

I'll get the broom and sweep those up lickety-split.

- Thanks, grandma.

Now, where did max go with those candies?

Aha!

Thought you could make yourself disappear

With candy bowl, huh, max?

- Candy!

- We really have to get these decorations up

For the trick-or-treaters, so I need your help, okay?

- There we go.

Guess I'd better roast a few more of these.

- Thanks, grandma.

Louise and valerie will be here any--

Both: wow!

- [Gasps]

They're here.

Oh, no.

We didn't finish decorating.

- [Whispers] candy.

- Oh, I wanted to have all my decorations ready

When you got here.

- You mean there's more?

- More? More than what?

- More than that giant witch.

It's scary.

- And fun too.

[Horn honks]

- Maybe if the houses you go to don't have treats,

You're supposed to do tricks instead.

This year, instead of just asking for treats,

Why don't we do a trick for our treats?
