[barks]

- [panting] Hey, Sonny.

Before you start the whole machine thing,

can I tell you something?

My best friend from the forest is coming today!

[laughs] Her name's Olive.

I'm so excited!

Okeydoke. Start her up.

[upbeat music]

Whoa! Whoa!



Ow!

Oh, oof! Ugh!

Whee!

Yippee!

[dog barks] - Oh, hi, Zippy.

[upbeat music]

Calvin!

Hurry up and come out.

I've got big news.

Calvin! Calvin! Calvin!

Wha!

[lever clicking]

[alarm blaring]



[door whirring]



- [laughs] Thanks.

[upbeat music]



High five, Noodles!

[laughs]



How's it going, Noodles?

- Oh, my friend Olive is coming to Mutt & Stuff today.

[chuckles]

She's so cool.

And she's gonna be here soon.

- Well, if she's coming soon,

we better get this day started.

- Yeah. - Calling all dogs!

Time to start class!

- Hey, guys, I have great news.

My friend Olive is coming to visit today.

Oh, you guys are gonna love her so much.

- [laughter] Oh, boy.

I'm sure I'll love Olive.

- Mm-hmm. - Hmm.

Try saying that ten times fast.

Uh, "I'll love Olive. I'll love Olive.

"I'll love Olive. I'll love Olive.

I'll love Olive." Okay, that's good enough.

[laughter]

- And you'll love her too, Princess Pickles.

You guys have a lot in common,

like amazing style.

- [grumbles]

[laughs] [dog barks]



[laughs]

Olive's almost as speedy as you, Rocket.

Maybe you guys could have a race.

- Oh, yeah.

- We're all excited to meet her.

Hey, how about we have a special cleanup time

before she arrives?

- [gasps]

- It's cleanup time!

[upbeat music]



- Cleaning, cleaning, cleaning for my friend.



Perfect.

- Wow.

This place looks great!

You guys did an amazing job.

- Aww.

- I sure hope Olive thinks so too.

She's gonna be here any minute.

- I can't wait to meet her.

[doorbell rings, Noodles gasps]

- She's here! She's here!

- Oh, boy. I'm so excited to meet--

[stammering]

[yelps]

It's a skunk!

Run!

[dogs barking]

- Wait. Guys.



No, no, guys, hang on. I just--

- Uh, guys?

- Slow down a minute.

Hang on. That's--

No, guys.

♪ [groans]

Wait. Wait. Stop.

Guys, hang on.



- Noodles, Calvin, run.

There's a skunk on the loose,

and it's here at Mutt & Stuff!

- Wait, hold on.

- What?

Noodles, you better tell your friend Olive

not to come today, 'cause we have a skunk.

[screams]

- But, Stuff,

that's what I'm trying to tell everyone.

That skunk is my friend Olive.

- Wha?

Your friend is a skunk?

- Yep. And she's great.

- Come on, guys, let's go meet Noodles' friend.

- Huh?

Okay.

- [laughs] - Hi.

I'm Calvin.

Welcome to Mutt & Stuff.

- Yeah, Calvin's the coolest.

He's our teacher.

Oh, and this is Stuff.

He's a big fuzzy, awesome doggie!

- Um, hmm--oh, yeah.

Um, hi.

Oh, hey, I've gotta fluff my tail

'cause I can't meet anyone

till my tail is good and fluffy.

Bye!

- Oh.

Well, um, no problem, Stuff.

We'll just catch you later.

Oh, hey, Zippy!

Zippy, you want to play with my friend Olive?

- [barks]

- Oh.

You left your skateboard out in the rain.

Well, I guess--

Hey, Zippy, it's not even raining!

Uh, Princess Pickles! Princess Pickles.

Um, maybe we can all play dress-up together, and--

- [barks]

- You need to polish your tiara?

Right now?

[moans]

Doesn't anyone want to play with me and my friend?

- I don't think the dogs want to play with Olive

'cause she's a skunk.

Hmm.

Let's give everyone another chance.

How about you two play on the playground,

and maybe the dogs will join you.

- Yeah.

Okay, Calvin.

Come on, Olive.

Let's go play. [laughs]

- Hey, Davenport.

Davenport!

- [yelps indistinctly] Oh, hi, Zoe.

- How do you keep a skunk from smelling?

- Why, you hold its nose.

[both laugh]

[both scream, thud]

- I'm okay. - Meow too.

- Can't wait for those doggies to get here.

Should be any minute now.

[laughs]

And here they come.

They aren't coming, are they?

[grunts]

I can't believe they won't play with us

just 'cause you're a skunk!

If they'd just get to know you the way I know you,

I'm sure they'd think you're great.

Hmm.

How can I get them to spend time with you?

[gasps]

What if they didn't know

they were hanging out with a skunk?

[laughs]

Come on, Olive, let's find you a disguise.

[laughs] This way.

- Hey. Hey, Marty.

- Huh?

- You want to hear a joke about a skunk?

- I'm sure it stinks.

- Huh?

Oh, right.

Because skunks stink, right?

[laughter] - Yeah.

- Stink, stink-a-rooni.

Stink-a-doodle-daisy.

[laughs]

- Are you done?

- Nope.

Stink-a-pink-a-pony-baloney.

Stink-a-dink-a-doo.

[laughs] - Oh, brother.

- Stink, stink, stink, stink, stink.

Stink, stink, stink, stink, stink.

- Okay, Olive, there are costumes

we can disguise you with inside that closet.

Now, hmm.

What is it Calvin says to open this thing up?

Um...

Open-y, schmopen-y, open the doors!

Let's try this again.

Bee-bop, hippity-hop, show me the clothes.

Please?

Oh, um...

Open the closety everything doors.

Doggity open--

Oh, wait.

I just remembered.

Open the Doggy Everything Closet!

[chimes shimmer]

[chuckles]

I did it! Whoo-hoo!

Okay, Olive, I'm gonna make you look like someone else.

[laughs]



Hmm.

Too sweet.

Eh.

Not enough.

Whoa.

Fancy. [chuckles]

But too royal.

[groans]

[gasps] That's it.

That's the perfect disguise.

[laughs]

No one's ever gonna recognize you now,

Shirley.

[laughs] That's right.

Your new name is gonna be Shirley.

And I'm gonna tell everyone you're a dog.

[chuckles]

Shirley the dog with a hat and a dress.

[chuckles] Oh, yeah.

I love this plan.

Nothing could possibly go wrong.

[laughs]

- Olive the skunk is in a disguise.

Let's see if the puppies like disguises too.

- Puppy playtime!

[upbeat music]

- And then Arnie said,

"I want to buy a big boat."

Then Suzy said,

"You don't know how to drive a boat."

[laughter]

- Hey, guys.

Sorry to interrupt.

But I want you to meet my other friend, Shirley.

- [gasps]

[dogs bark]

[yelps]

She's not another skunk, is she?

- This is Shirley the dog.

[chuckles] Come on out, Shirley.

Meet everybody.

- Whoa!

It's nice to meet a new dog.

Welcome to our pack,

Shirley the dog with a white stripe.

This is Arnie. "Howdy."

And this is Suzy. "Hello."

And I'm Stuff.

- Nice to meet you, Shirley.

I'm Calvin.

- [chuckles] Oh, boy.

I can't wait to show you around Mutt & Stuff.

You're gonna love it here,

Shirley the dog with a white stripe.

- Shirley doesn't look like any dog I've ever seen.

- Attention! Attention!

It's snack time.

Oh, boy! I love snack time.

Oh, and you're gonna love it too,

Shirley the dog with a white stripe.

There's lots and lots of kibble,

and we dogs love kibble!

- [laughs] Okay.

Let's go!

- Yeah!

[dogs bark]

- [sighs]

Oh, no. What do I do?

I just remembered Shirley doesn't eat kibble.

'Cause Shirley's really Olive the skunk.

She eats skunk food.

[groans]

- Well, maybe some nuts and berries will help.

- What?

Nuts and berries?

Calvin, that's skunk food.

And Shirley is clearly a dog.

- I know a skunk dressed as a dog when I see one.

- [grumbles] Really?

- Really.

Are you disguising Olive

so the class will play with her?

- Yeah, 'cause then they'll think

she's a dog and not a skunk.

- I get it.

Then they'll get to know her.

- Mm-hmm. - Well,

I have just the activity for the dogs and Olive.

Or should I say "Shirley"?

- [laughs] - Come on.

[mechanical whirring]

[chuckles]

The dogs are gonna play a video game

on the dog-a-tron

with Noodles' friend Shirley.

Here you go, Stuff.

Have fun playing, guys.

- [chuckles] - Thanks.

- Thanks, Calvin.

- Oh, boy,

Shirley the dog with a white stripe.

You're gonna love this game,

"Dig, Dog, Dig."

See, there's a little dog who digs for his bones,

and it's really, really fun.

[laughs]

Okay, Shirley the dog with a white stripe.

You can take your turn first.

- Oh, no.

It's a game where you have to know how to dig?

Like a dog?

- Hmm, what's that?

- Um, Shirley wants you to play.

And she'll watch.

- Oh, I get to play?

- Yeah. [both laugh]

- Well, that is so nice of you, Shirley.

You're the best!

Hey, Noodles,

your buddy Shirley is awesome.

- Yeah, I know.

[laughs]

[game beeping and chiming]

[buttons clicking]

[game continues beeping and chiming]

- Okay, Shirley, now how about you try?

You know how to dig for bones, right?

- Of course Shirley the dog knows how to dig for bones.

She does it all the time.

It's just that, um,

well, she wants to dig for real bones,

you know, on the playground.

And um, you can take her turn.

Oh, there she goes.

- Wha-- - Bye.

Bye, Shirley. Have fun...

- Oh. - Digging like a dog.

'cause, uh, that's-- that's what you are:

a dog. Yep.

[both laugh]

- Wow, uh,

giving up your turn again?

Well, Shirley, you're the nicest dog ever!

[laughter]

Okay, go for it, Rocket.

Dig, Rocket.

Dig! Yeah.

Oh, mash those buttons!

Whoo!

Oh, diggity, dig, dig, dig!

Dig, dig, dig!

Rocket, you rock at this game.

Oh, you did it, Rocket!

Whoo-hoo!

Hey, uh, Shirley,

you sure you don't want a turn?

- Uh, no, no, no, she's fine.

She's digging it.

[laughs] - Oh.

She sure is a nice dog with a white stripe.

- Yeah.

- Hmm. - [sighs]

- Hey, Davenport.

Davenport!

- [yelps indistinctly] Oh, hi, Zoe.

- How does a skunk call his friends?

- Hmm.

Why, on his smell phone.

[both laugh]

[both scream, thud]

- I'm okay. - Meow too.

- Dance class is another really good way

for everyone to get to know...

[whispers] Olive.

- Olive? [chuckles]

Who's Olive?

- Oh, I mean, Shirley,

the dog. - Right.

- Who's ready to do the bouncy,

twirly, blast off dance?

both: We are! [laughter]

I am super-duper excited to dance with you,

because dancing with friends is the best ever.

You're my friend, Shirley the dog with a white stripe.

And we're gonna be doggy dancing friends!

[inhales deeply]

Oh, wow, you're such a great listener too.

- [laughs]

Gimme that bouncy music,

DJ Princess Pickles!

- [barking]

[funky music]

- All right.

Uh.



Gimme a bounce, bounce, another bounce.



- Oh. - [laughs]

Now twirl.

Twirl.

And twirl some more.

[laughs]



- [laughs]

I'm twirling.

- All right.

Now walk this way.

And that way.

And this way.

And that way.

And this way. [laughs]



- Whoa.

[laughs]



- Shirley, you're a doggy dance star.

- And faster.

Faster.

And faster. - Ooh, faster.

[laughs] - And faster.

- Shirley's dancing so fast,

her hat might fly right off.

[dress and hat whoosh]

[Stuff screams] Skunk!

[dogs barking] Yikes!

- [grunting]

Hmm?

Hey, Princess Pickle-- [stammers]

What?

Guys, where's Princess-- [gasps]

Hey. Where did everybody go?

Oh, no! Your disguise!

Now I see what happened.

Your hat and dress must have fallen off,

and the doggies ran away.

Oh, Olive.

- [sighs]

I know this isn't how

you wanted things to turn out, Noodles.

- My plan didn't work.

- It's okay.

I'll talk to everyone because it's not okay

to run away from Olive just because she's a skunk.

I'll be right back.

- Okay.

Thanks, Calvin.

- Guys,

are you here?

- Here I am.

- Stuff, are you hiding from Olive?

- Um, yeah.

Maybe just a little.

[door creaks open]

- [barks] - You're hiding too?

And you too, Rocket?

[sighs]

Hi, Princess Pickles.

Okay.

We need to have a really big nose to nose.

[sighs]

I want to talk to you about Olive.

- Olive the skunk!

What? Where?

You see her? [grunting]

- Yes, she's still here with Noodles.

And I want you to be friends.

- But she's a skunk.

- Stuff, when you thought she was a dog,

you guys got along great, right?

- Uh, yeah.

We did have fun dancing and playing video games.

[laughs]

Huh.

I guess it doesn't matter

what your fur looks like on the outside.

It's what's on the inside that's important.

- Exactly, Stuff.

Just because someone might look different than you

doesn't mean you can't be buddies.

- You're right, Calvin.

Hey, we need to find a way to make it up to Olive.

Uh, okay, guys, let's think of a way

to welcome Olive to our pack.

- I have the best students.

- Hmm.

Hey, Olive.

I'm sorry you didn't get to spend time with my friends.

- Don't give up yet.

Stuff has something he wants to say.

- Uh, hi, Olive.

Uh, we all feel bad

about not playing with you today.

Just because you're a skunk

doesn't mean we can't be friends.

- Oh, Stuff, that's really nice.

- I hope you'll stay and play with us today.

- Well, Olive, what do you think?

- Olive says she wants to stay and play!

- Oh, good!

Because we came up with a way to say

"Welcome to our pack."

[upbeat music]

It's a skunk party.

Everything is black and white, just like you, Olive.

And to make you feel at home--

come on in, guys--

we're all gonna be skunks just like you.



Check out Zippy, the zippiest skunk ever.



And our sunniest skunk, Sonny!



Here's our most junior skunk, Junior Shades.

[laughs]



Our littlest skunk of all, Pixie.



- [barks]

- And our cuddliest skunk, Cuddles!



[laughs]

And don't forget about me.

I'm a really big skunk.

[laughs] Whoo-hoo!

- [laughs] - Well, what do you guys think?

- Aww, you guys are the best.

So what do you say, Olive?

Olive feels like she's part of the pack.

Yay!

- That's great, Olive!

You're welcome here anytime.

- Hey, hey, I want to join the skunk party too.

Um, Calvin, would you please pull that rope?

- Huh? Oh, okay.

[fog horn blasts]

Huh? - [laughs]

- Black and white skunk confetti.

I love it.

And, Olive, we love you too.

I think it's time for a skunk doggy dance party.

Come on. Wag it like you mean it.

[upbeat music]

- ♪ Mutt & Stuff, Mutt & Stuff ♪

- ♪ Hey, Calvin, what are we learning today? ♪

- Today the dogs didn't want to be friends with Olive

because she was a skunk.

[dogs barking]

- But when she dressed up as a dog,

everyone loved hanging out with her.

- Let's think of a way--

- Then the class realized that it doesn't matter

what your fur looks like on the outside.

It's what's on the inside that's important.

And then we dressed up as skunks

and had an awesome dance party.
