Does everyone know what day it is today?

ALL: Beach day!

Hooray!

We'll take those, Mom.

Here you go.

It's almost time to leave.

Is everyone ready?

Yes! Yes!

Yep. Uh-huh.

Let's see.

Have we got our beach towels?

Yes! Yes!

And sunscreen?

Of course.

Are we bringing our smiles?

We can't wait!

I've never been on a boogie board before.

Have you, Ruby?

No, never!

Don't worry. You'll get the hang of it.

Grandma taught me how to boogie board when I was about your age.

It's really fun.

LILY: Go! Go!

(Giggling)

Yeah!

Max, Lily, would you like to try boogie boarding?

We can share.

No thanks.

We want to fly our kite.

Our monster kite!

(Chuckling)

Yes, I bet you can't wait to get your kite up in the air.

Yeah!

(Gulls squawking)

Here we are.

What do you think?

Is this a good spot?

It's perfect.

Yes!

Who's ready for some fun?

Me! Me!

Monster kite! Monster kite!

Ooh, yes!

Let's see you get that kite in the air.

Just make sure you stay where I can see you, okay?

Okay. Okay.

Come on, girls. Surf's up!

Okay now. Watch me.

The key is to hug the board and keep your balance.

Then you can kick off with your feet

and go, go, go!

Way to go, Mom!

Yay!

(Surf music playing)

Ready, Max?

Monster kite, check.

A little wind? Check.

Kite string, check.

Ready, set, fly!

No! Aww!

Oh!

(Giggling)

Whoa-- whoa!

(Giggling)

That was fun.

But it's a bit harder than it looks.

I'll say.

Keep trying, Ruby.

Louise, you'll get the hang of it.

Right.

And it's fun trying.

That's for sure.

(Grunting)

Uh--

(Giggling)

Come back here!

Our boards keep getting away from us!

I forgot to tell you.

Your boogie boards keep getting away

because you don't have them attached to you.

See?

Just tie the strap around your wrist

and the board can't float away.

Thanks, Mom.

(Giggling)

Woohoo!

Now you give it a try.

Let's do it!

Yes!

Oooh!

Whoa!

(Splashing)

(Giggling)

Whoa-ho-ho! Look at me!

I'm boogie boarding!

Yay, Louise!

Okay, Ruby. You can do this.

Whoa!

(Splashing)

(Giggling)

Oh! Whoa!

(Giggling)

(Splashing)

Oh dear.

I wonder if Max and Lily are having better luck

with their kite.

Ready?

Yes.

Monster kite, check.

Wind?

Check.

And string?

Check.

Ready, set--

Fly! Fly!

Go, kite, go!

(Wind whooshing)

Oh. Uh-oh.

Sorry!

What are we doing wrong?

I don't know.

Ruby's a good kite flyer.

Maybe she'll know!

Ruby knows everything.

(Splashing)

Ooh!

BOTH: Ruby!

Oh! Whoa!

(Splashing)

What is it, Max?

Can you help us?

Please?

Your monster kite is giving you trouble?

Yes. Uh-huh.

I'm happy to help just as soon

as I figure out how to ride this boogie board.

Whoa!

I just wanna catch one good wave to prove I can do it.

Then I'll come help you.

Won't be long!

Okay.

Let's try again.

Sure.

Yeah!

Oh.

(Giggling)

Bye bye, crab!

(Gull squawking)

(Gasping)

Oops! Sorry!

Ready.

Ah! Ah!

(Both giggling)

Ready.

One--

Two--

(Mom laughing)

Three!

Max?

Oops.

Maybe if I run in circles.

Go, kite, go!

Yeah!

It's working, Max!

Whoa.

I'm getting dizzy.

Oof!

It's not working.

Uh-oh.

What's wrong?

The kite string!

It's tangled up.

Big mess.

Let's fix it.

Wow.

Bigger mess.

Mom?

(Giggling)

Okay, Ruby.

You can do this.

MAX: Mom?

Oh!

Ruby!

What is it?

Can you help, Ruby?

Of course!

Oh, your kite string. What happened?

It's a big mess.

A bigger mess.

You can't fly your kite like this.

Let's see.

I'm pretty good at untangling string.

(Wind whooshing)

Ta-da!

(Gasping)

Oh!

Ruby!

Ruby!

Go, Ruby, go!

Yes!

Go, Ruby, go!

And go, monster kite!

(Gasping)

Look! I'm doing it!

I'm boogie boarding!

Monster kite!

Up, up, up and away!

Yay! It's flying!

Max, it's flying!

Woo!

Way to go, Ruby!

I didn't know you could kite-board.

Kite-board?

Neither did I.

Oh!

(Giggling)

Thanks, Ruby.

Monster kite is flying!

Up, up and away!

Did you see it? I did it!

I rode a wave!

Yes.

You did!

It was amazing.

And I think I have an idea for some more beach fun.

What's that, Mom?

Next time, we'll try kite-boarding!

What do you think, Max?

Monster kite-boarding!

(All laughing)

Batter-batter-batter swing!

Fly ball.

What a catch!

Throw the ball!

Max slides home.

Yay!

Hi, Dad!

I played baseball.

Wow!

Keep practicing and you'll be on a baseball bunny card one day.

Me on a baseball card?

Yeah!

(Chuckling)

Baseball bunnies.

My best card!

(Gasping)

It's gone!

Where is it?

(Elephant trumpeting)

Um--

Oof!

Sorry, Max.

(Giggling)

I'm so excited.

I just finished reading the latest Bunny Drew mystery book.

It's her best ever.

A priceless painting was missing

from her very own house

and she had no idea who took it.

She couldn't trust anyone, not even her own family.

Only a great detective like Bunny Drew

could follow the clues and solve the mystery.

Can you imagine?

Hmm.

(Toys clicking)

Hello, flipping chicks.

Sorry.

I can't play right now.

Max the Detective.

Hmm.

Oh!

What are you doing, Max?

Looking for clues.

Find any?

Not yet.

Um...

Hmm.

Oh.

Feel like being a gardener today, Max?

No. I'm a detective.

No clues.

Dirty.

I'll wash up when I'm done.

Don't want dirt all over the house.

Nice and tidy, that's my motto.

Dirt!

(Humming)

(Sighing)

No dirt.

(Marker squeaking)

Hmm.

Dear Daisy Diary,

I have so many things to tell you,

and I have a big secret to share.

What are you doing, Max?

I'm a detective.

(Giggling)

Just like Bunny Drew. That's fun.

What's the mystery?

A missing baseball card.

Oh, dear.

I don't know anything about it, Max.

Now please take your detective work someplace else.

I'm busy writing.

Tell you what, Max.

You keep looking for clues

and I'll go find a quieter place to write. Okay?

Okay!

Hmm.

Dear Daisy Diary,

sorry for the interruption.

Where was I?

Oh yes-

I have a big secret to share.

(Rustling in closet)

Huh?

(Rustling in closet)

Max! What are you doing?

I'm a detective.

I'm looking for clues.

I get it, Max. Like Bunny Drew.

But she's careful not to disturb people.

Even when she's looking for clues.

(Sighing)

Peace and quiet.

What now, Max?

Please stay behind the yellow line.

Still haven't found your missing baseball card?

I'm sure you just dropped it somewhere.

Huh.

(Sighing) I'll go someplace else.

(Humming)

(Clatter in kitchen)

(Camera shutter snapping)

(Humming)

(Giggling nearby)

Ooh!

(Sighing)

Peace and quiet at last.

And no Max.

Dear Daisy Diary,

I can finally share that big secret

I've been wanting to tell you.

(Breathing noise)

Huh?

Okay, Detective Max.

Sit where I can see you.

Keep your eyes on this comic book

and stay still while I write in my diary.

Then I can help you figure out

what happened to your missing baseball card.

I know you're worried,

but I don't know why you think I have anything to do with it.

But you have a big secret.

Max, I didn't take your baseball card.

(Doorbell ringing)

Did you read it?

Isn't it the best Bunny Drew mystery ever?

What a great detective!

Speaking of detectives,

Max the Detective is watching my every move.

Let's go outside.

Okay.

(Giggling)

Now I have even more news to share with my diary.

My diary!

I'm sure I left it right here.

Oh no!

You must have misplaced it.

We'll find it.

Thank you.

Ah--

Hello, Max?

Are you still a detective?

Yep.

Oh. Do you think you could find out

what happened to my diary, Max?

A vacuum cleaner.

That wasn't there before.

There's nothing here, Max.

(Sniffing)

(Giggling) Just a fresh, lemony smell.

Nice and tidy.

Where are you going?

What are we doing here?

Remember to recycle.

Huh?

(Gasping)

I get it.

Max followed the clues.

Vacuum cleaner, shiny table,

fresh lemony smell.

Someone tidied up while we were outside!

It's got to be here.

It's got to be here.

Here it is!

Found it!

Phew.

Dad's been working around the house all day.

He must have scooped it up by mistake.

If Max the Detective wasn't on the case,

your diary would have been gone forever!

Thanks, Detective Max.

It's too bad your detective skills didn't help you

solve the mystery of your missing baseball card, too.

(Gasping)

MAX: Yes!

Your baseball card!

Dad tidied it away, too!

Wow.

Two mysteries solved in one day.

Not even Bunny Drew can do that.

Max the Detective.
