[chuckles]

Well, we've only just foundour sea legs, but okay!

How about we start off

with the mostimportant knot of all?

It's called "The Bowline,"

and it's usefulfor so many things,

like attaching floatsto fishing lines,

so we can practicefishing safely.

Okay, now,

here's a little rhyme

to help rememberhow this works.

"Up throughthe rabbit hole,

"round the big tree.

"Down through the rabbit hole,

and off goes he!"

There!

Now, why don't you boysgo practice fishing

off the stern?

That meansthe back of the boat.

Wow.

You know a lotabout boats, Max.

That's right!

He does.

Your turn to tiea bowline knot, Ruby.

Remember how it goes?

I sure do.

Up through the rabbit hole,

round the big tree.

Down through the rabbit hole,

and off goes...

[groans]

[chuckles]Oh, that's okay.

I didn't get itthe first time, either.

It takes practice.

Now, why don't yougive it another go?

Okay.

Up through the rabbit hole...

[reel clicking]

[splash]

Nice!

[reel clicking]

You're a very goodfisher-bunny.

That was a big one.

[splash]

You try, Max!

[reel clicking]

You boys might havemore room

to practice fishing

if you move to the dock.

Dock fishing.

[♪♪♪]

Ready to catcha big one?

That's big!

Try catching that, Max.

[reel clicking]

[snap]

It broke off.

[groans]

Down through the rabbit hole...

and off goes he.

[gasps]

I did it!

I'll say!

A perfect Bowline.

I think someone's readyto learn another useful knot,

called a "Clove Hitch."

Ooh... Clove Hitch.

I like the sound of that.

Let's get knotting!

[♪♪♪]

Can I try?

Of course!

Grab another rope,

so we canpractice together.

You'll find onein the bow.

First a Bowline,and now a Clove Hitch?

Knot-tying badge,here I come!

Huh?

I've never seenthat before.

Look, Grandma,a little boat!

[gasps]

I see you've foundmy first sailing ship.

It's very oldand very special.

It was given to meby my grandmother

when I wasa little girl.

Oh, how I used to play,

sailing awayin my imagination.

It's beautiful.

When I got older,

I couldn't waitto sail the real thing,

and that's when I got [span]The Mermaid.[/span]

I'm going to sailmy own boat one day, too.

I know you will.

But to do that,

I'm going to needto know more knots.

Then grab your rope, and let's get knotting.

[giggles]

Hmm...

Are you sureit's a toy, Max?

Grandma saidshe played with it.

[gasps]

Let's sail it in the water!

It might sail away.

Maybe if we tiea safety line to it?

Yeah, like Grandma showed us!

Up through the rabbit hole.

Round and round three.

It's time to go sailing,

with Morris and me!

There.

Time to set sail!

Bye-bye, mateys.

[splash]

Uh-oh.

Now, this one is calleda "Stopper Knot."

Can I try?

Go for it.

I'm sure it'll besmooth sailing.

[laughs]

Grandma!Grandma!

Oh, my!

Whateveris the matter?

Your little boatis sailing away!

How didthat happen?

Max doesn'tknow knots.

Sorry, Grandma.

That's okay, Max.

I could never resistsailing her, either.

Now, let's go catchthat little boat.

[♪♪♪]

After we catchyour Grandma's boat,

let's go backto fishing, Max.

Thar she blows!

I see her, Grandma!

What are we going to do?

How are we going to catch her?

[fishing line whooshing]

Max!

Do you thinkyou can catch her?

Sure!

I don't know, Max!

We lost the float,remember?

You'll needanother one

so you cancast your line.

I learned to tielots of knots.

[clinking cups]

[♪♪♪]

[♪♪♪]

Hurry, Max.

You don't want to be latefor your first soccer practice.

Yeah, I'm a soccer star.

You are a goodbasketball player,

but soccer is very different,

and the first rule of soccer is

no hands.

We use our feetto move the ball.

Other countries don't evencall it "soccer."

They call it "football."

Football?Cool.

Oh, and I've got a big surprisefor you at practice today.

I hope you like it.

What surprise?

[players]:Amazing! Cool!

Coach Ruby!

[blows whistle]

Okay, team, get in a circle.

Last night, I made upa very special play,

and we're goingto practice it today.

We want to get the ball

from our endof the soccer field

to the other end.

We do that

by kicking the ballto each other

back and forth,

that's called "passing."

Then, we'll kick the ballat the other team's net.

And who will standin front of that net

and try to stop the ballfrom going in?

[everyone]:The goalkeeper!

That's right.

And if the ball getspast the goalkeeper,

and goes into that net,

it's a...

[everyone]: Goal!

[laughs]That's right.

First, we'llpractice each part,

then put allthe parts together.

Ready?

[everyone]: Ready!

Soccer star.

Nice!Yeah!

Way to go!Good throw!

Of course, we'll kickthe ball, not throw it.

Right, Max?

In soccer,we don't use our hands,

we use our feet.

Or our wheels.

[giggles]Or our wheels.

Right, Winston.

Okay, let's get started.

Okay, team, watch me.

I'll show youhow to control the ball

as you run.

It's easy.

First, you zigzagaround the cones

like this.

Wow, Coach Ruby is good.

Then you turn around

and run back as fast as you can.

Cool...

[sighs]

Okay, your turn,Winston.

[blows whistle]

[all cheering]Go Winston!

Yay! Way to roll!

Now run it back!

I did it!

[everyone cheering]Whoo! Whoo-hoo!

[laughing]

[blows whistle]

Wait, wait, one personkicks the ball at a time.

[laughing]

[sighs]

I think it's timefor our second drill.

We are going to practicepassing the ball in a circle.

First, we pass the ballback and forth

across the circle.

Yes, just like that.

Perfect.

Now let's make itmore challenging.

Max, you stepinto the circle.

Good.

Now, Max is the other team.

He's going to tryto stop you from passing.

Understand, Max?

Yes.

Okay, when I blowthe whistle,

pass the ball quickly

to keep Maxfrom getting it.

[blows whistle]

Good passing, team.

[laughing]

Oh, nice teamwork.That's it,

don't let Maxget the ball.

[blows whistle]

but remember, use your feet, not your hands.

But it bounced into my hands.

I know, but keep trying.

Whoa!

You're fast, Max.

Gotcha!

Soccer star!

[everyone]: Yes!

Okay, I'm going to kick the ballway down the field.
