gone for good?

I wonder why evan hasn't
found us yet, clifford.

Hmm. I never knew evan had
so much trouble with this game.

[Whines]

I couldn't have
made him disappear.

I must just not be using
the right words or something.

Hey, maybe my magic trick book
will tell me what to do.

Hmm...

Hey, evan!

Whoa!

Oh, sorry,
evan.

I didn't mean
to startle you.

I thought you were hiding,
emily elizabeth.

I thought you were
trying to find me.

Er...uh...i was
trying to find you.

I was trying really
hard to find you.

Okay, enough
hide-and-seek.

Let's see
some magic tricks
now, evan.

Right! We really want
to see some magic, evan.

Evan says he can even make
clifford disappear.

Really?

No, not really.
It's just a trick.

Cool!
Do that one, evan!

No!

I mean...that's
a really special trick,

So...
I always do it last.

First I'm going
to read your minds.

Evan: you go in the kitchen
and, uh, write down a number.

No. Write down

But--

And make them big numbers.
Big, long numbers.

Okay.

Big numbers.

Okay, now. I've got
to bring clifford back.

[Sighs]
I'll try some new words.

Alakazeem,
alakazifford.

Please bring back
sweet little clifford!

Bippity bop,
slickity slack.

Make the puppy
please come back!

Oh, please, oh, please,
just for me,

Please bring back
the cute little puppy.

Come on, top hat.

What did you do
with clifford?

Aw, nuts!

Okay, evan,
we wrote down
our numbers.

Let's see if
you can read
our minds.

Uh...uh, okay.

Uh, let's see.

Your numbers are...

[Sighs]
oh, listen,
emily elizabeth.

I really have
something to tell you.

I know, you're going
to tell me what numbers
I wrote down.

No, not that.

What is it, evan?

Well, you see,
I was practicing
my big trick,

The one where I make
clifford disappear.

Clifford was under the hat,
and I waved my wand
like this and said,

"Abracadabra,
alakazeer.

"Make this
puppy disappear!"

And when I
lifted the hat,

Clifford was gone.

I mean,
he was really gone.

I made him disappear,
and now I can't get him back.

[Giggling]

Aren't you upset?

[Barking]

Oh, clifford!
You're back!

He isn't back, evan.
He was never gone.

Yes, he was.
I made him disappear.

But that's
just a trick.

No one can really make
something disappear with magic.

Well, I know.

But...but when
I lifted the hat,
he was really gone.

Well, he must have
crawled out from under
the hat and gone outside.

I saw him running
down the hallway.

You did?

Oh.

Evan, why didn't
you just tell me

That you lost
clifford right away?

I could have told you
where he was.

Well, i--you...

[Sighs]
oh, you're right.

I should have
told you right away.

I guess I was afraid
you'd get mad.

You know, evan,
my mom always says

That the sooner
you tell the truth
and admit a mistake,

The sooner you can
start to fix it.

Your mom is
pretty smart, nina.

I'm really sorry,

He's a magician.

[Barks]

Great!

You can watch,
too, clifford.

Clifford?
Clifford?

[Barking]

[Giggles]
he really is
a magician!

[Laughter]

[Barks]

[Laughter]

Flo: ha ha!
Can't get me!

Zo: ow!

Oh, zo!
Are you okay?

What happened?

I just stubbed my toe,
that's all.

It's not really hurt
or anything.

It's just a little bit sore,
but I don't really feel
like running anymore.

You guys go ahead
and play without me.

Emily elizabeth: sometimes
the best way you can help
a friend is to be kind,

And that means being
considerate of their feelings.

Wait a minute!
I've got a big idea!

Instead of playing tag,
what do you say
we tell stories?

That way, everyone
can join in, even zo.

What a great idea!

Thanks, clifford.

I'm really happy

to include me.

Emily elizabeth: when you
take the time to be kind,

You can help
a friend feel better.

That's why clifford's idea
to grow on for today

Is "be kind."

Okay, I've got one.
Once upon a time...

when they start
like that!
