[Peter]
The Tale of the Scare Owl.

[squirrels chittering]

Oh, this way, follow me! [laughs]

I've never seen Nutkin so excited.

I mean, I have,
but never this super, super extra excited.

-That usually means trouble.
-And fun.

Whoo-hoo! Ta-da!

It looks great, Nutkin.
But what does it do?

Allow me to demonstrate
the anti-bird defense system.

First, I scan the skies.

Scan, scan, scan.

I can see a bird.

I check the picture
to see if it's a friendly bird,

like a robin or a thrush.

Or if it's something mean, like an owl.

[mimicking ominous music]

And you know how mean they can be.

[gasps] It's an owl!

[mimicking ominous music]

-[chuckling]
-Yes, thank you.

Quick, sound the alarm! [exclaims]

-[bottles clinking]
-[squirrels chittering]

Relax, relax.

Just testing the alarm.

-[chitters angrily]
-[gasps]

[gasps]

So, what's the big bell for?

That's only for emergencies
so big and dangerous

that we have to leave the camp.

And never come back!

Can I have a try?

Be my guest.

Okay, first, I scan the skies…

[Nutkin chuckles]

[Benjamin] Scan, scan, scan.

I see a bird.

Then I check the picture,
see if it's a friendly bird,

like a robin or a thrush.

There it is, it's an… owl.

Hey, it works.

Hmm? Hmm? [gasps]

-[Old Brown laughs]
-Whoa! It's Old Brown!

[Old Brown] Who's making all that noise?

-[squirrels whimpering]
-[bottles clinking]

Hopping hazelnuts!
This is not a drill! Hide!

[chittering]

Well, at least we know
the alarm system works.

-[Benjamin shudders, gasps]
-[Old Brown laughs]

Rabbits are brave. Rabbits are brave.

Quick, in here, go!

Tailfeathers! [grunts] Slippery scamps!

Come back here!

[growling]

Are we on the ground yet?

Almost there.

-[Old Brown grunts]
-[Lily] Ah!

[all exclaim]

-[Benjamin whimpers]
-Let's go.

He's coming!

[Old Brown growls]

[Peter] One of my Dad's tunnels. Hurry!

-[all exclaim]
-[Old Brown grunts]

I'll get you, you vanishing vermin!

[all] Whee!

[sighs] Wow, that was close.

Yeah, phew!

[screams] Look!

Old Brown followed us
all the way to Mr. McGregor's garden.

-[gasps]
-Whoa!

[Lily] Hmm.

[sniffs]

[Benjamin] Whoa, Lily. Hide.

[Benjamin] This is bad, very bad.

[Peter whispers] Lily, what are you doing?

[sniffs] Mmm.

[hollow clunking]

It's not real.

Just-in-case-pocket, just in case.

Yes.

Made of pine, I think. Very convincing.

It's a scare owl.

What's a scare owl?

It's like a scarecrow.

Mr. McGregor uses it to scare the birds
away from his vegetables.

-[bird chirps, chitters]
-Huh? [exclaims]

See? Scared away.

[grunts]

[hollow clunking]

Uh, are you sure this thing is safe?

Very.

A scare owl scares away any bird,
even other owls,

and I know that for a fact.

[blows raspberry]

[laughs]

Scare other owls. Hmm.

Like Old Brown.

[wheels rolling]

[squeaks]

Scare Owl is perfect
for the squirrel camp.

Um, can we call it something else?

"Scare Owl" is just so… scary.

What do you want to call it?

Um… How about "Brian"?

[both laugh]

Come on then, Brian, let's hop to it.

Wait.

With Brian here to scare away any owls,

the squirrels will never have to worry
about Old Brown again.

I can't wait till Old Brown sees it.

He'll swoop in,
then he'll see good old Brian here and…

-"Squawk! Tailfeathers!"
-[chuckles]

[all cheering]

-[Old Brown laughs]
-Whoa!

[evil laughter] Laugh away, rowdy rabbits.

-I've got you this time.
-[Benjamin whimpers]

Old Brown!

[bottles clinking]

Those silly strings and bottles
won't help you.

Whoa!

[Old Brown] Huh? What?

[stutters, grunts]

[gasps] Another owl!

Who are you? [hoots]

Tailfeathers!

Outsider owls hunting in my woods?

And very large, scary owls, too.

[scared hooting]

[all] Yay!

It worked!

[laughs] Old Brown is in a mood today,
isn't he?

We've brought you a present, Nutkin.

[yells] Owl! Owl in the camp!

First Old Brown, and now another owl.

-[bell dinging]
-They're everywhere.

It's not safe anymore.
This is the big one!

Get out of here!

Leave! Evacuate!

[squirrels chittering]

-[Lily] Nutkin, please. Stop.
-[Peter] Wait a second.

Whoa! Nutkin, it's not a real owl.

-[sighs]
-I think

maybe we should have
warned the squirrels about Brian.

[chittering]

Onward, friends!

We'll find somewhere new to live

and then send word to the others.

This isn't the end.

It's a new beginning.

[strains] We've got to catch up
with the squirrels.

Once they see Brian's not real,
they'll come home.

There they are.

Nutkin!

Stop!

We can't stop, Peter.

The squirrel tribe
must leave the woods forever.

First, Old Brown att*cks,

and then another even bigger, uglier owl.

No, no.

The danger is too great.

Now we must find another home.

[sobbing]

It's just so sad. [blows nose]

It's okay.

The other owl's nothing to be scared of.

[screams]

-There he is! Run! Run for your lives!
-[squirrel screams]

No, wait. [sighs]

[panting] It's Brian,
he's slowing us down.

Yeah, I'm pooped.

Can we just go home?

No way. A good rabbit never gives up.

-Come on, pull.
-[both straining]

[squirrels chittering]

Nutkin, stop.

Are you joking?

We can't stop. It's not safe.

It is safe. Brian's not real.

Who's Brian?

Brian's the owl.

How can we be safe if he's an owl, huh?

You need to get your story straight,
my rabbity friend.

[sighs] Wait here, I'll show you.

[squirrels whimper, chitter]

-[screams]
-[squirrel shrieks]

[gasps]

-[hollow clunking]
-It's not real.

[squirrels chittering excitedly]

What? It's not real.

Fakery foolery!

[grunts angrily]

And that's why we call him Brian.

Brian? [laughs] Brilliant! [laughs]

No need to run, my squirrel friends.

Brian's not a real owl.

He's a statue. A fake. [laughs]

Though it's easy to see
how you all fell for it. Especially Felix.

[chitters]

[clears throat]

He even sounds like an owl.

Um, Nutkin…

-And he moves like an owl, too. [chuckles]
-[growls]

[Old Brown exclaims]

Amazing.

Hey, where did the other fake owl
come from?

Who are you calling fake?

[screams]

-Owl!
-[Old Brown growls]

[Nutkin whimpering]

Where do you think you're going? [grunts]

Quick, get on.

[Benjamin and Lily exclaim]

[rabbits] Whoa!

here he comes!
