OLIVE: What should we play today at recess?
ARI: I know! Let's play tag.
I'm really good at playing tag.
OLIVE: [giggle] That's because...
nobody can ever catch you Ari.
You always fly off.
ARI: I can't help it if I have wings.
ELINOR: [giggle] OLIVE: [giggle]
ELINOR: I know! Let's play hide and seek.
That way we can all play together.
MARY / LIZZIE: We'll be it.
MARY / LIZZIE: You hide and we'll seek.
ELINOR: Okay.
TITO: [giggles]
KIDS: [laughter]
MARY: One...
LIZZIE: Two...
MARY:Three...
LIZZIE:Four...
ELINOR: We need to find somewhere to hide!
OLIVE: Hurry!
Mary and Lizzie are almost done counting.
ARI: Less talking, more hiding, C'mon!

ELINOR: Oops, sorry! I didn't see you there.

ELINOR:Hmmm...
ELINOR: [gasp]
Oops. Oh, hi Sally.
I guess this spot is taken too!
LIZZIE:Six...
ELINOR: Aha! MARY:Seven...
ELINOR: There's no way Mary and Lizzie...
will find me here!
LIZZIE:Nine...
MARY:Ten!
MARY / LIZZIE: Ready or not, here we come!

OLIVE: Awww...
OLIVE: At least my trunk was hidden.
MARY / LIZZIE: Found you Elinor! ELINOR: Aaaah!

That was fast.
OLIVE: How did you find us all so quickly?
ARI: Especially me!
I thought my hiding spot was pretty good.

MARY: [giggle] LIZZIE: [giggle]
MARY: Well, we goats have really good eyesight.
LIZZIE: That means we see really well.
MARY: And that's why we're so good at...
LIZZIE: Hide and Seek!
Tito! Come out from behind that tree!
MARY: And Koa! I see you behind Mz. Mole!
MS. MOLE: Op!
ELINOR: Whoa! ARI: Mary and Lizzie...
are way too good at Hide-and-Seek.
We don't stand a chance!
LIZZIE:Found you too, Sally!
ELINOR: Hmm, we need to figure out how to make ourselves...
harder to find!
OLIVE: Well, we'd better figure it out quickly.
Mary and Lizzie have found everyone but...
MARY:Found you, Camilla! LIZZIE:Found you, Camilla!
CAMILLA: Awww.
ARI: Now they've found everyone!
That must be a new Hide-and-Seek record!
LIZZIE: All done.
ELINOR: You two are so good at this game!

ARI: Let's play again!
MARY: Sure! We're happy to keep counting.
LIZZIE: If you want to keep hiding!

OLIVE: Let's go hide over there.

ELINOR: [gasp] LIZZIE:Nine...
MARY:Ten.
LIZZIE / MARY:Ready or not here we come!
[bird chirping]
ARI: Huh?
[bird chirping]
MARY:Found you Tito.
LIZZIE: Elinor, you're behind the grey rock.
ELINOR: Aww...
MARY: Ari, we see you in those flowers.
ARI: What? But how?
LIZZIE: And Olive, you're hiding next to that tree!
OLIVE: Impossible!
ELINOR: How did you find us?
LIZZIE: It was easy to see your white ears...
behind that grey rock, Elinor.
MARY: You too, Olive.
We can see you really well next to that brown tree.
ARI: How do you keep finding me?
My hiding spots are amazing!
Aren't they?
LIZZIE: And it was easy to see you...
in those white flowers, Ari.
ARI: Oooooh.
LIZZIE: [laugh] MARY: [laugh]
OLIVE: Huh, I thought our hiding spots...
were much better this time.
But Mary and Lizzie still found us right away.
[sigh]
There must be something we can do to hide better.
ELINOR: Whoa! ARI: Whoa!
ELINOR: Did you see that?
OLIVE: What?
ARI: I think that leaf just hopped!
ELINOR: Those are the leaves I saw move before!
ELINOR: Wait... That's amazing!
It's not a leaf at all!
When you look closer...
you can see it has little antennae and legs!
OLIVE: It's an insect!
Look, its body is the same shape and color as the leaf!
ARI: Cool! ELINOR: Woah!
OLIVE: Awesome!
ARI: That's unbe-leaf-able!
ALL: [laughs]
ELINOR: We almost didn't see you there, little friend!
He's so cute.
OLIVE: I've read about this in my nature book.
Some animals hide by looking like the things around them.
It's called "camouflage."
ARI: Hmmm...
I wonder if anything else around here is camouflaged?
ELINOR: There's only one way to find out!
We need more observations!
OLIVE: [gasp]
OLIVE:Hmmm....
First hopping leaves and now moving twigs?
OLIVE: Ok, that time I know I saw something move.
OLIVE: [trumpet]
ARI: Whoa.
ELINOR: Hmmm, what is that?
ARI:Something brown and...
ARI:Whoa! Jumpy!
OLIVE: Look, it's a toad!
It was hidden in that pile of sticks.
ELINOR:Cool!
Those spots on his back...
look just like the sticks on the ground!
OLIVE:Even when I was looking right at him,
I couldn't see him!
ELINOR:It's the same pattern.
ARI: That is so cool!
ELINOR: Nature is so good at hiding!
[bird chirping]
ARI: Hey, it's the bird I heard earlier but I couldn't see it.
ELINOR: Maybe it's also camouflaged,
like the bug and the toad.
Ari, can you fly up there and take a look?
ARI: Alright.
[bird chirping]
Where's that sound coming from?
[bird chirping]
ARI: [gasp].
[bird chirping]
ARI: Oh! There you are.
[bird chirping]
Have you been hiding here this whole time?
ELINOR: Wow!
Look at your beautiful brown and grey feathers.
They're the same colour as the tree.
OLIVE: It's the perfect match,
you couldn't see him at all down here.
ARI: I couldn't even see him from up there.
ALL: [giggle]
ELINOR: Nature is so good at hiding.
The katydid was hidden because it had...
the same shape and color as the leaf it was next to.
OLIVE: And I didn't see that tricky toad...
because the spots and colors on his skin...
look just like twigs he was sitting on.
ARI: And my little buddy up here looked just like the tree,
I didn't see him at all.
ELINOR: That is so interesting!
MARY / LIZZIE: [giggles ] ELINOR: [gasp]
MARY: [giggle] We've found everyone!
LIZZIE: Want to play another round?
ELINOR: Yup!
We'll be right there!
ELINOR: Ari! Olive!
I have an idea of how we can hide better...
from Mary and Lizzie!
ELINOR: If we hide near things that we look like,
we can camouflage too!
ARI: Awesome!
OLIVE: That's a great idea!

♪ Nature shows me how to hide, ♪

ELINOR: ♪My two ears are long and white, ♪
♪ How can I hide them both from sight? ♪
ARI: ♪My fur is brown, my shirt is green ♪
♪ Where can I hide and ♪ not be seen? ♪
OLIVE: ♪My skin is grey, where can I hide, ♪
♪ What makes my color hard to find? ♪
ALL: ♪A hiding spot that looks like me, ♪
♪Will make me really hard to see! ♪

♪and don't you take a peek! ♪
ELINOR: Those spots are perfect!
OLIVE: Yeah! There's no way Mary and Lizzie...
will find us there.
ARI: Do I have to say this every time?
Less talking, more hiding...
c'mon!
MARY: Eight... LIZZIE: Nine...
MARY: Ten!
MARY / LIZZIE: Ready or not, here we come!

MARY: Found you! LIZZIE: Found you!
MARY: Found you! LIZZIE: Found you!
MARY: There you are! LIZZIE: There you are!
TITO: [giggle]
MARY: I can't see Elinor, Ari, or Olive anywhere.
Where are they?
LIZZIE: I don't know!
We've usually found them by now.
They're hiding much better this time.
MARY: Do you think we should split up to look?
MARY / LIZZIE: Nah, don't be ridiculous.
[giggles]
ELINOR: [whispering] It's working!
They can't see us.
ARI: [whispering] Shhh! Flowers can't talk!
OLIVE: [whispering] Neither can trees!
MARY: We've looked everywhere!
LIZZIE: And they're nowhere!
MARY: If we can't find them...
LIZZIE: Then no-one can.
MARY: Come out come out, wherever you are!
LIZZIE: We give up you win.
ELINOR: Here we are!
MARY / LIZZIE: Baaaaaa!!!
ELINOR: Right in front of you!
MARY: But... how?
We looked here!
LIZZIE: We looked there!
MARY / LIZZIE: We looked everywhere!
ELINOR: [laughs] We used camouflage...
to hide in plain sight!
OLIVE: We found hiding spots that looked just like us!
Lots of things in nature use camouflage.
That's where I got the idea.
See!
LIZZIE: [gasp]
ARI: So you couldn't see us!
MARY: That...
LIZZIE: Is...
MARY: Amazing!!! LIZZIE: Amazing!!!
MARY: Can we try?
We want to camouflage!
LIZZIE: Yeah, we want to hide now!
ELINOR: [giggles] Of course!
I'll count!
ELINOR: One...
Two... Three...
LIZZIE: Psst...
ELINOR: Four...
LIZZIE: what around here looks the most like twin goats?
ELINOR:Seven...
MARY: Let's go!
ELINOR:Eight...
Nine...
Ten!
Ready or not, here I come!
[♪♪♪]
MZ. MOLE: Ok, kids!
Who likes to play hide and seek?
ELINOR: I do. OLIVE: Me! MARY: It's my favorite!
MZ. MOLE: Well, today we are going to learn about an animal
that plays hide and seek...
Wait for it... [giggles]
Under the water!
ELINOR: Wow! MARY: That's amazing. LIZZIE: That's amazing.
MZ. MOLE: An octopus is very good at hiding.
ELINOR: Why does the octopus hide, Mz. Mole?
MZ. MOLE: Ooh, good question, Elinor.
Sometimes the octopus needs to hide to stay safe.
MZ. MOLE: The octopus can change the color of its skin...
to look like the things around it.
ALL: Whooooaa!
MZ. MOLE: It can change into lots...
of different colors and patterns.
MZ. MOLE: It can also change its shape!
ARI: Wow!
Can it look like a rock?
ELINOR:Can it look like sand?
OLIVE:Can it look like a banana?
ELINOR: Huh?
OLIVE: [giggle] I just like bananas!
ALL: [giggle]
MZ. MOLE: Remember kids, the best way to hide in Nature...
is to look like the things around you.
We call that 'camouflage'.
It makes you harder to see!
MARY: Where did Mz. Mole go?
LIZZIE: She was just here!
ARI: Huh?
MZ. MOLE: Ah-Ha! Here I am!
ELINOR: Wow! ARI: Yay!
OLIVE: Nice one!
MZ. MOLE: [laughs]
[♪♪♪]
Elinor: "Owl Girl"
[♪♪♪]
OLIVE: I can't wait for school tomorrow.
ARI: Me too Olive.
ELINOR: [giggle]
ARI: Wait, why?
OLIVE: [laughing] It's Costume Day, Ari!
ARI: Yes! Costume Day!
We get to wear a costume to school tomorrow!
Remember last year?
ARI: I was a baseball and bat!
Get it?
Because I am a bat?
OLIVE: [lauhing] I remember.
It was so funny.
[frog croak]
ARI: This year, I'm going to be something super cool...
and mysterious.
ARI: [giggles] Whooops, careful Elinor!!
ELINOR: Sorry, Ari.
Hmm...
Maybe I'll dress up as a frog.
ARI: So what are you going to dress up as, Olive?
OLIVE: I've been working on my costume for days!
ARI: Let me guess: is it a.... a banana?
OLIVE: A banana??? [laughs] No...
although I do love bananas.
You'll just have to wait and see!
ARI: Okay.
Hey, Elinor, what are you going to be for Costume Day?
ELINOR: I want it to be something reeeeaaally...
interesting.
But, I haven't found the right idea for my costume yet,
and Costume Day is tomorrow!
OLIVE: We'll help you look for ideas, Elinor.
ARI: Just call me Ari the idea-finder!
ARI: [gasp] what's that?
Whoa!
OLIVE: It's an owl!
ARI: I've never seen an Owl this close before.
ELINOR: What's it doing?
OLIVE: It's not moving.
ARI: [sigh]
I'll go take a closer look!
ARI: [whispers] Its eyes... are... closed!
I think it's sleeping!
ELINOR: Sleeping?
In the middle of the day?
OLIVE: Maybe it's taking a nap.
ARI: Phew! I could use nap.
[stomach growl]
...and a snack.
ALL: [laughter]
ELINOR: Let's wait for the Owl to wake up!
I want to see it fly!
Whoosh!
OLIVE: Ok, let's wait.
[♪♪♪]

ELINOR: [gasp]
ELINOR: [sigh] Is the owl going to sleep all day?
OLIVE: It can't sleep all day.
Can it?
ARI: Sounds pretty good to me.
Some of my cousins sleep all day.
OLIVE:I wonder when it eats.
ARI: Speaking of eating...
It's almost dinner time!
OLIVE: You're right.
We'd better go.
C'mon Elinor.
ELINOR: Oh, please wake up!
[sigh]
[owl hooting]
ELINOR: [snoring]
[sleep talking] Owl, wake up, please wake up.
[owl hooting]
ELINOR: [gasp]
[owl hooting]
ELINOR: Who's out there?
[owl hoots]
ELINOR: Who what?

ELINOR: Who, me?

ELINOR: [yelling] Yes, I heard you!
Do you mean me?
I'm Elinor, that's who.

ELINOR: Mom! Wake up!

RANGER RABBIT: Huh? What?
Elinor?
Is something wrong?
ELINOR: I can't sleep.
RANGER RABBIT: Honey, What's keeping you awake?
ELINOR: I can't sleep because of a question.
RANGER RABBIT: Right.
Tell me, what is your middle-of-the-night question?
ELINOR: It's not my question.
Someone's outside my window asking me questions!
They keep saying "Who!", and won't stop.
RANGER RABBIT: I see.
ELINOR: I want to go outside and see who it is.
Can you come with me?
RANGER RABBIT: [sigh] Yes I can.
Let's get our night-time observation kit!
ELINOR: Yay!
RANGER RABBIT: [yawns]
ELINOR: I'm ready! Are you?
RANGER RABBIT: It's the middle of the night.
Of course I'm ready!
[owl hooting]
RANGER RABBIT: [gasp] ELINOR: There it is again!
Come on, Mom!
We need more observations!

ELINOR: Wow, it's so dark!
I can't see anything!
Thanks Mom!
ELINOR:Is there anything awake out here?
RANGER RABBIT:[yawns] Other than two sleepy rabbits?
[yawns]
Let's have a look!
ELINOR: Wow!
That was such a cool lizard!
I've never seen one like that before.
RANGER RABBIT: That's because you usually go...
into the forest during the day.
Some animals only come out at night.
Like this lizard, it's called a gecko!
ELINOR: [gasp] Look at this!
These worms and bugs are awake!
That is so interesting!
ELINOR: I wonder what all these animals are doing up so late?
RANGER RABBIT: Maybe their children woke them up...

MR. RACCOON:[humming]

ELINOR: Hello, Mr. Raccoon!
Are you out looking for the mysterious "who" too?
MR. RACCOON: Mysterious who?
ELINOR: Yes, who!
MR. RACCOON: I mean, who are you looking for?
ELINOR: We're looking for the who, that's who!
RANGER RABBIT: We are out exploring, Mr. Raccoon.
ELINOR: Why are you awake so late?
MR. RACCOON: Oh, I always get up around this time.
I have to wake up to work at the bakery!
ELINOR: You can't do that during the day?
MR. RACCOON: Oh, no. [giggles]
I have to start baking the tasty treats at night,
so they'll be ready in time for breakfast!
ELINOR: Ohhhh... I didn't know that.
Then... when do you sleep?
MR. RACCOON: Oh I sleep in the afternoon...
when everyone is awake.
ELINOR: Ohh.
MR. RACCOON: Well, love to chat more,
but I have to get going.
Time to make the muffins!
[humming]
RANGER RABBIT: Goodbye, Mr. Raccoon.
ELINOR: Bye!
Wow, mom.
There sure is a lot going on in the forest at night!

♪ But now that I have my trusty flashlight, ♪
♪ I see worms and bugs and lizards, too! ♪

ELINOR: There it is again!
ELINOR: [gasp!] Look!
[owl hooting]
ELINOR: Wooooow!
ELINOR: Mom, that's the owl Ari, Olive and I saw on our way home!
It's so quiet I almost didn't notice it fly by!
RANGER RABBIT: That's because owls are amazing birds.
They're silent flyers.
They have special feathers on their wings...
that don't make any sound.
ELINOR: Oooh...
[owl hoots]
ELINOR: Wait a minute.
That's who's been saying "whoo!"
It's the Owl!!
He's up late, just like Mr. Raccoon!
RANGER RABBIT: Yep, owls are nocturnal.
That means they stay awake at night.
[owl hoots]
ELINOR: But why?
Does the Owl work at a bakery too?
I didn't even know there were Owl bakeries.
RANGER RABBIT: [chuckle] I don't think so!
Owls are awake at night because they eat things like bugs...
and worms that come out at night.
RANGER RABBIT: They have super special eyes...
that are really good at seeing things in the dark.
ELINOR: Wow!
I didn't know that owls were so interesting!!
ELINOR: Mom!! I just had a great idea!
Come on!
RANGER RABBIT: Oh, good night owl.
[owl hoots]
[birds chirping]
KIDS: [laughs]
ARI: Wow, nice costume, Olive!
OLIVE: Thanks, Ari!

OLIVE: [giggles] I really do love bananas!

ARI: The Mysterious Mysterioso!

Are you going to do some magic?
ARI: Yes, I'm going to make my lunch...

OLIVE: [giggling] Very impressive,
Mysterious Mysterioso.
ELINOR:Whoo! Whoo!! OLIVE: [gasp]
ELINOR: Hi Ari, hi Olive.
OLIVE: Elinor, you look just like the owl we saw yesterday!
ELINOR: That's right!
My mom and I stayed up all night making my costume.
Isn't it interesting?
ARI: Wow! But I thought owls slept all the time?
ELINOR: Nope, owls only sleep during the day,
but they're awake at night!
That's called being nocturnal!
OLIVE: Nocturnal!
I like that word!
ELINOR: They have super good eyes for seeing in the dark.
That's when they eat their food.
ARI: Oohh.
ELINOR : And they have special feathers...
that help them fly really quietly.
OLIVE: So that's why the Owl we saw wouldn't open its eyes!
It was sleeping so it could be awake at night!
ELINOR: That's riiiigghht... [yawning]
MZ. MOLE:Alright class,
time to find our places!
MZ. MOLE: Welcome to costume day!
Okay, now who wants to talk about...
the costume they're wearing?
MZ. MOLE: Wait, where's Elinor?
ARI: Mz. Mole?
MZ. MOLE: Yes, Ari?
ARI: Elinor's an owl and she was awake all night...
making her costume.
That means just like an owl...
OLIVE: She'll be sleeping all day!
MZ. MOLE: Oh, Elinor...
