(epic music)

(waves crashing)

(birds calling)

- Chi-ya!

(panpipe music)

Okay, again, Princess.

- Nearly, Princess.

- The secret is balance.

Use my force against me.

- I know I can do it.

Again!

Will!

Will, Aruna's teaching me how to fight.

Watch.

- Leon, let me try this time.

(soft music)

Will, whatever's happened, we have to carry on.

- Why?

- So we can get rid of Xax and put Vara

back on the throne where she belongs.

- Even if we find the crystal arrow,

it's useless without Kalem.

We need her spirit, the power to activate it.

- Well, perhaps Kalem isn't dead or whatever it is

that happens to supernaturals.

- She's dead.

I felt her go, like her soul was ripped from my body.

It's over, Aruna.

We might as well just pack our bags

and go our separate ways.

(dog barking)

(ominous music)

- The purple or the gold, which do you think, Kreel?

- I think we need to destroy Tell while he's unprotected

by the powers.

- The old witch is dead, Kreel.

- We immortals cannot die, my lord.

Not in the way that you understand death.

- You mean Kalem has come back?

- No, but I sense a murmur like a whisper on the wind.

Somewhere she lives spiritually crippled,

but not totally vanquished.

- Well then, that's hurt my plan to flush Tell

out into the urban works quickly, then.

I don't want anything to spoil my coronation (laughing).

(soft music)

(choral music)

- What?

No, he can't do that!

He can't be crowned king.

He's no right!

- What's happened? - Xax has just

announced his coronation.

He's to be crowned King Kala.

- No! - It's the talk of the canton.

- Well, we've got to do something.

Will?

- How?

All five of us storm the citadel?

- Xax is going on the pilgrimage of the kings.

- Not alone?

- Yes as the statues say.

- Well, that's it then.

It's perfect.

We can ambush him there.

- It's a trap.

- Why?

The statues say that all kings of Kalem

make the pilgrimage alone, and there will be no

warriors to protect him.

- Will's right, Aruna.

It's a trick!

Xax doesn't need to obey any statues.

He makes his own laws.

- Well, I'm willing to take the chance.

- As leader, I say no.

Aruna!

- Stop staring like a whipped dog, Kreel.

Dah!

Just because I had a brilliant idea instead of you.

- I think Tell has grown too cunning

to be tricked so easily, my lord.

- Ah, we'll soon see about that, won't we?

Either way, we have nothing to lose.

The people respect me for honoring

their ridiculous traditions, and if Tell should happen

to walk into my trap.

- If I travel through the night,

I can get there before him.

- This is an obvious challenge

to get us out in the open.

Can't you see that?

- Well then, let's accept it!

Well, are we supposed to spend the rest of our lives

holed up in this damp, freezing cave?

Well, anyone else not afraid?

- It's not a question of fear, Aruna.

It's a matter of common sense.

Will's right, we have to bide our time.

- Will has given up.

- What?

- You think we're finished, don't you?

Tell them.

- We will be finished if you don't start

to look and think.

- Well, while you're looking and thinking,

I'm gonna go find Xax.

- Aruna, I forbid you!

- Since you refuse to lead us, you have lost the right

to give me orders.

Xax is as good as defeated.

- Aruna!

(Alvar groaning)

- Is it really a trap?

- It almost certainly is, Princess.

- Well then, we've got to stop her!

- I'll go.

- I'll come with you.

- No.

We don't know what Xax is planning and Leon,

I'll need ya to help me protect Vara.

- We should all go.

- And lead you straight into Xax's hands?

No.

- May the powers go with you.

(electric guitar music)

(Aluna and William groaning)

- What are you doing?

Untie me!

- Xax's death with save Kalem.

It's what you want, isn't it?

- Without Kalem?

- Kalem is dead, Will!

It's up to us now.

It's up to me.

- Aruna, get back here!

(William groaning)

(Alvar groaning)

Alvar, Alvar, come here, boy.

Come here.

Alvar!

(birds calling)

Well done, Alvar.

(laughing)

(birds calling)

(soft music)

(fire crackling)

- Time for sleep, Princess.

- I can't sleep.

Something's happened to them.

Xax must have captured them.

- We don't know that.

- At first light, we'll go and look for them.

- No sign of the warrior Tell?

- No, typical of the man, sending a woman

to do a man's job.

- I'm an Aborian warrior, not a feeble woman.

- Nonetheless, only a coward leads his troops from behind.

- William Tell is no coward.

He's worth of you.

- Oh, well then it should be quite a simple matter

to rescue you then, shan't it?

- He won't try.

He's not stupid.

- Even if he was, Kalem wouldn't allow it.

- Yeah, well Kalem's.

- Yes?

Kalem is?

- Find out for yourself.

- (laughing) You'll talk soon enough.

Take her to the cells.

- Aborians are known for their pride, Kreel.

You'll never break her.

- Well, if William Tell doesn't attempt to rescue her,

you should hang her, be done with it.

- No, she is a warrior and I am a warrior.

Leave her to me.

(epic music)

(loud knocking)

- [William] Stay, stay.

(door hinges creaking)

(epic music)

(door hinges creaking)

(epic music)

(William groaning)

(Alvar growling)

(panpipe music)

(mouse squeaking)

(door hinges squeaking)

- Good morning, Aruna.

I trust you slept well.

You surprised me running and hiding for so long.

I thought Aborians were supposed to be great warriors.

- We are.

There are none better.

- You must be a sad disappointment to your race.

- Release me from these chains

and I'll show you if I'm a warrior or not.

- Would that be wise?

- No, I'd k*ll you.

- You forget, my dear Aruna, that I too an a great warrior.

- Would you like to put that boast to the test?

- Why not?

Leave us.

Has your powers deserted you?

Are are you full of hot air

like your leader, William Tell?

- [Aruna] Hee-yah!

- (laughing) You forget my dear Aruna,

the first lesson a warrior must learn.

Never let your anger overrule your skill.

(dramatic music)

Ha!

(laughing)

Ooh.

(groaning)

(loud choking)

- Goodbye, lord protector.

(gasping)

- All right, Kreel.

That's enough!

Don't hurt her.

I said that's enough, Kreel!

Very impressive.

Very impressive, indeed.

(door slamming)

(mice squeaking)

(soft music)

(loud sniffing)

- What is it?

- Alvar!

Where's Will, Alvar?

(Alvar groaning)

- Where's Will?

- He wants us to follow him.

- Show us Alvar, show us!

- Wait, Princess.

You better stay.

- No, Leon.

If Will's in trouble, I want to go too.

(door hinges squeaking)

- [Gar] Wake up, son!

Get up for the captain!

- I suppose they'll do after you're finished

with them, Gar.

- Why are we here?

- You've got no right to imprison us.

- You're not prisoners, you're recruits.

- Recruits? - You should feel honored.

You've all been handpicked to perform

at Lord Xax's coronation.

- Perform, how?

- If I had left her to you as you asked,

you would be worm's meat by now.

- But I can trade on that, Kreel.

Aruna is good, brilliant, even better than I thought.

She's also immensely proud, a true warrior.

Aruna knows she deserves better than the life

she's been leading with Tell and I can offer her that life.

- Indeed you can, but all my instincts tell me

that she would never accept.

- Never is a very long time, Kreel

and I have all the time in the world.

- Let's go, quickly!

Choose your w*apon.

You have to fight with it, not look at.

Are you deaf?

- No, sir.

- Then pick up your w*apon.

- I will not. - What?

- I said no, sir.

- Pick it up.

- We are men, not performing animals.

- Pick it up! - I will not fight

to entertain scum like Xax.

- Then fight without it.

En garde!

- [William] You don't have to fight.

They can't make you.

- Begin!

(men groaning)

- You don't have to fight.

- Begin!

- Forgive me.

(men groaning)

(bird calling)

- Aruna, I'm sorry about these unseemly chains.

It's just that you're more than a match for anyone here

and my warriors are somewhat nervous.

- And you?

- I myself admit to a certain apprehension,

but that has more to do with whether

you will accept my proposal.

- Proposal? - Yeah,

the Kingdom of Kalar, my kingdom,

north, south, east, and west, as far as the eye can see.

- Stolen from its rightful owner, the Princess Vara

after you m*rder*d her parents.

- I offered Vara her fair share.

She chose to side with a treacherous rebel.

Can I help it if she is not truly worthy?

No, unlike you, Aruna.

- Me?

- Why are you so surprised?

I am a great warrior, the lord protector.

Who else should I choose as my soulmate

but one of equal skill and courage?

- (scoffing) More than equal.

- I would be honored to be tutored by you.

Honored and thrilled.

- Learn that, Xax.

- Don't, guards, hurt her!

You will find me an eager and willing pupil.

(soft music)

- Look!

Isn't that Aruna?

- Yeah, Xax has got her.

- We can't stay here.

We might be recognized.

Come on.

- I wish Kalem was here.

(choral music)

- Thank the powers.

I thought I'd k*lled you, stranger.

- I'm not sure you haven't, my friend.

- My name's Alum.

What are you called?

(dramatic music)

- If Aruna is prisoner at the citadel,

then Will won't be far away.

- I agree, Princess, but it'd be far too dangerous

for us to hang around there all day.

It'd be too easy to recognize.

- Not if we're in disguise.

- Me, disguise?

- Mm-hmm.

(soft music)

(door latch clicking)

- Pardon the intrusion Aruna, but I just wanted to make sure

they had made you as comfortable as I had hoped.

Oh, I should w*r you, I have not come unarmed.

This is the most comfortable bed you would have slept in

since joining Tell, I'm sure.

- My tribe have descended from the cat family.

We can sleep anywhere.

- Should you have to?

I say no.

You should get used to all of this, Aruna.

It's far more befitting my future companion.

(soft music)

My queen.

- You dream.

- What is a man without dreams?

Sleep well, Aruna.

(soft music)

- Lovely fruit, lovely vegetables.

Get them here!

(people chattering)

(soft music)

- Come and get it!

(people chattering) - Don't look now,

but I think we're being watched.

- You will fight, scum.

- No, sir.

- Then you will die.

(men gasping)

- Whoa!

I mean you no harm.

I respect your skill, but I won't fight.

(men groaning)

- [Men] Whoa!

- Whoa!

You are good.

- So are you.

- Ha!

(loud smacking)

- Whoa! - Man.

- Good morning, Aruna.

I trust you slept well.

- You might as well k*ll me now, Xax.

I'll never join sides with you.

- Never?

People use that word so freely.

- I've never meant it so much.

- You were right about your hero, William Tell.

He has deserted you, left you to your fate.

If I was your companion, your comrade in arms,

I would not rest until I had rescued you

and I have never meant that so much.

It saddens me to see you so unhappy,

confined in these walls.

Perhaps you'd care to join me

in some fresh air and exercise?

- Lovely fruit, the best in all of Kalar!

Come and buy!

Oh come on, Leon.

It's quite fun! - We're not here

for fun, Princess.

- Stop calling me princess.

Someone will hear. - Sorry, but sorry.

(door hinges creaking)

- Look!

(people chattering)

- Aruna with Xax? - Follow them, Drogo.

See where they go, see what they do.

(Alvar groaning)

- Nice plump fruit, my dear.

Just how I like them.

- Clear off or I'll set the dog on you!

(soft music)

- I'll be back.

I like a woman with spirit.

(loud crunching)

(men chattering)

- Thank you, Alum.

- You look terrible.

How you feeling?

- It's just a glancing blow.

I'll live.

- Not if you don't fight you won't.

Why don't you fight?

I mean, you obviously know how.

- Don't some fighting in my day.

- And you're gonna have to do some more before it's over.

- [Gar] Up!

(dramatic music)

(men groaning)

- Take it.

Ah!

(groaning)

(choral music)

(fire crackling)

- Ah!

- They were side by side, talking like friends.

- Are you sure? - Yes, Aruna

was dismounted, but not once did she try to escape.

- I can't believe it, Drogo.

Not Aruna.

- Neither could I,

but I saw it. - Here they come.

(men chattering)

(choral music)

- What is it?

- Nothing.

- Uh, ha!

(choral music)

Ah, Kreel!

- Sh!

I don't understand it.

Shitana's eyes disturbed.

I sense a presence faint but near at hand.

- Sometimes I think you make life

far too complicated, Kreel.

- No, it's here in the citadel.

Must be that woman, Aruna.

She's dangerous.

- On the contrary, I am winning her over.

- How do you know? - Little things,

subtle, human things,

things between a man and a woman.

My, each other's prowess in the arts of w*r,

things you wouldn't understand, Kreel.

- Take care that you're not deceived, my lord.

- She's an Aborian.

She is incapable of cunning.

She's too strong, too direct, too passionate

to mask her feelings.

- You forget how long she's been Tell's companion.

Who knows what trickery she may have learned at his feet?

- Well, we'll see.

And I put her to the ultimate test.

- Lie still.

Things might be broken.

I don't understand you.

You deliberately get yourself captured,

then you refuse to fight?

- A man has to live by his beliefs.

- Or die by them.

- That, too.

- Then I feel you will, stranger.

Gar, he can't afford to let you win.

Don't you see that?

He will have to k*ll you.

- Better that than die for another man's sport.

- I don't believe it.

I won't believe it.

Not even of an Aborian.

- She hasn't gone over to Xax.

She recognized me, but she didn't tell him.

- You were dressed as a boy, princess.

- She recognized me, I tell you.

Aruna was protecting me.

- Well, I hope you're right.

- How can you doubt it, Leon?

After all she's been through with us all.

- She was very bitter towards Will when she left here.

Who knows how Xax has played on that?

(choral music)

- All ya, up!

Go back.

- I'm here to fight you, Gar.

It's what you want, isn't it?

- Go back.

- Give me a w*apon!

- I said go back.

- You said I was good.

I'll show you how good.

- No!

- Why not?

You can't be frightened.

Why won't you fight me?

- Get back, I warn you!

- Go back, you fool!

(Will shouting)

- [Men] Oh, oh!

(loud ringing)

- Kalem?

(loud sparking)

(people chattering)

- [Man] An apple for the young man,

an apple for the young man.

Come on, an apple.

(men chattering)

- [Male Speaker] Come on, apple.

There we go, let me.

(men chattering)

(Alvar groaning)

- For my pretty one.

Wonderful.

I don't like women who give in too easily.

(soft music)

- It's Lord Xax.

(men chattering)

- Good afternoon, Gar.

What do we have here?

- One dead, my lord.

- Well, I'm pleased to see your training

methods are thorough (laughing).

- Thank you, lord protector.

- But do leave some fight for my coronation, won't you?

- Yes, my lord.

(laughing)

(door slamming)

(choral music)

- Thank you. - Do that again

and I will k*ll you.

- Why did you hide me from Xax?

- You are a rebel.

He may know you.

- But why hide me from him?

Why not just turn me in?

- And lose my best fighter, the star of the contest?

- No Gar, that's not the reason.

Why didn't you want Xax to see me?

- I said.

- Are you a rebel?

- No!

Gar is no rebel.

I serve Lord Xax.

- But you don't like him, do you?

- Lord Xax good to Gar.

- Because it suits him!

- Lord Xax saved me, made me a trainer.

- But you don't like him,

you don't like what he's doing to our land.

- Gar is not rebel.

- You sympathize.

Would you stop me, Gar, if I lead a revolt?

- I like you, but don't try.

(soft music)

(dog howling)

- Wait!

Give me your death wand.

Leave us.

(dog howling)

Your companion Drogo, no doubt.

It's a miserable existence up there,

fit only for a dog.

- Is there a point to this?

- Have you considered my proposal?

- My answer is on your face.

- I can make you a legend, Aruna, a warrior queen,

a name to be remembered through all time.

- Reviled like yours.

- Loved and honored as mine should be, in time.

Ride alongside me, Aruna.

We are both warriors.

Together, we shall be invincible.

Fight with me and feel the power of the death wand.

(soft music)

Fight with me.

(soft music)

It is second nature to you.

- You are mad.

First, you refuse to fight then you att*ck him?

- It's all right, Alum.

Gar won't k*ll me.

- He must.

You give him no choice.

- Every man has a choice.

- I am tired of arguing.

You die if you want to.

- I don't.

Do you?

Because that's what's gonna happen if you let it.

Half of you are gonna die, maybe all of you

if Xax doesn't keep his word.

What about you?

Are you gonna k*ll your friend here?

Or you, are you gonna let this man live instead of you?

- [Alum] We have no choice but to fight.

- You have!

You are all fit and strong, trained as gladiators.

Fight the warriors, take the citadel, k*ll Xax!

- Who are you?

- My name is William Tell.

(men gasping)

- William Tell?

(epic music)

(Xax and Aluna groaning)

(dramatic music)

- Hey!

(laughing)

You learn fast, my queen,

but you forget, I was born to the death wand.

- Then it's fitting you shall die by it.

(Xax and Aluna groaning)

I didn't take you for such a fool, Xax.

(Xax and Aluna groaning)

- I too learn fast, my queen.

(loud crashing)

(men shouting)

Guards!

Hold her.

(men shouting)

- Ah!

- Drop your weapons or you all die!

- NO, don't sh**t, don't sh**t!

We surrender!

- Well, well, what do we have here?

(choral music)

(loud crashing)

- Where is Kalem? - Dead.

- I believe that, but now? - She's dead, believe me.

- [Kreel] And why should we believe you?

- Because a man who's about to die usually speaks the truth.

- Unless he feels he cannot settle his enemies

from beyond the grave.

- You'll be unsettled, Kreel.

Make no mistake about that.

Kalem may be gone, but her spirit lives on in others.

She'll look for you through them.

Ah!

She's not a failure, Kreel!

- Oh, get him out of my sight.

You should hang him, stop his tongue at last.

- No, I have a much better idea.

Now that he is ours, my coronation can truly begin.

(laughing)

(soft music)

You saw?

Kalem's great hero surrenders at the first blow.

You would have fought to the death.

- Perhaps.

- Yes, you would have.

I've seen the fire, the fury, the passion in your eyes.

I have no death warrant on me now.

(soft music)

- You have no need of protection, my lord.

(soft music)

- You should all take heart.

You fought well.

- Much good it did us.

- There'll be another chance.

We just need a better plan.

(dramatic music)

- Gentlemen!

Since you all so full of fight,

I have decided that you shall fight again tomorrow for me!

To the death.

- But your coronation, my lord.

- Begins with you.

Gar!

The number you choose will decide

who your opponent is.

- What about me?

- Gar shall be hung for harboring

such a dangerous rebel, but I am merciful.

I have given him a chance to redeem himself (laughing).

(people chattering)

(loud hammering)

- I can't read.

What does it say, my pretty one?

- To celebrate the joyous coronation

of our lord protector Xax, the outlaw rebel

William Tell will fight in gladiatorial combat with Gar

unto the death.

They've got will!

- But who's Gar?

- Xax's monster, his champion.

He's got the strength of .

No man alive can b*at him.

(gate hinges squeaking)

(choral music)

- Is it nearly time?

Well, it looks like you got your wish, Gar.

I'm to fight you after all.

- Gar is sorry.

- It's not your fault.

- I don't want to k*ll you.

- Well, you could always let me k*ll you instead.

(laughing)

Don't worry.

- If not, we both die.

That'd be foolish, a waste.

But be warned, I'm not gonna make it easy for you.

(horn music)

(people chattering)

- On the dais by our side?

- By my side, Kreel.

Aruna, my warrior queen elect.

- The woman has you bewitched!

- No Kreel, it is I who have bewitched her.

- What proof have you? - She is pledged to my bed.

- I fear this is a plot, my lord, to k*ll you

while you sleep!

- Put her to any test you choose, Kreel.

Aruna's warrior blood has quelled the rebel within her.

Once Tell is dead, she will be mine.

(dramatic music)

- [Guard] Salute!

- Look.

- [Princess Vara] Aruna?

(people chattering)

(dramatic music) - I would never

have believed it.

(people chattering)

- Let the entertainment begin!

(clapping)

(dramatic music)

- Is that Gar?

- That's him.

What a monster.

- The outlaw William Tell

against the lord protector's champion, Gar!

- Speak well of me when I'm gone.

- The fight to the death.

The winner to go free!

- Wait!

With your lordship's permission,

I request a change of opponent.

The rebel William Tell to fight

our new warrior queen, Aruna.

You did say any test, my lord.

Are you now not so sure as you boasted?

- My lord. - Do you accept

the challenge? - My lord, I.

- Are you afraid?

- Aborians know now fear.

- Then why do you hesitate?

- You shall easily defeat him, I'm sure.

He's but a novice with the death wand, hmm?

(clapping)

- She won't do it.

She'd never fight Will.

(dramatic music)

- See?

I told you so.

(dramatic music)

- Aruna?

- Wait for the signal.

Any treachery, you will both die.

(dramatic music)

- I'm not gonna fight you.

(Aruna and William groaning)

Wait!

(Aruna and Will groaning)

(loud smacking)

- Fight like a hero.

- I am not gonna k*ll you!

- Then die.

(Aluna shouting)

(William and Aluna shouting)

- k*ll him, k*ll him!

(dramatic music)

- Kalem?

- [Kalem] Don't hesitate.

(Aluna groaning)

- Aruna!

(woman shouting) Aruna!

- Aruna.

- Will, I.

- k*ll the treacherous rebel, William Tell!

- No, he goes free!

(men groaning)

- Get us out of here! - Guards,

k*ll them all!

(dramatic music) (people shouting)

- Gar!

(Gar groaning)

- Will, come on!

(people shouting)

(dramatic music)

- [Drogo] We're safe.

They're not following.

(dramatic music)

- Why?

- It was Kalem.

- Kalem?

- Kalem's dead!

- No, I heard her.

She told me to do it.

She said k*ll her!

- Kalem is dead!

- I heard her.

I thought Aruna was gonna k*ll me!

- You can't hide behind Kalem anymore.

She's dead!

- She stopped.

We saw.

- I thought.

- She was never going to k*ll you.

She hadn't deserted us.

It was plain to see.

- I know.

I know that now.

- Too late.

(dramatic music)

(Alvar groaning)

- Leave her!

- We have to bury her.

- We will bury her.

(dramatic music)

- Kalem would never have made this happen.

- Will?

- It's over.

(dramatic music)

- [Drogo] Will?

(Alvar groaning)

(crow cawing)

- He's right.

It's over.

(Alvar groaning)

(choral music)

(upbeat music)

(loud thudding)

- You are learning, William Tell.

(choral music)
