NARRATOR: Collinwood, in .

An atmosphere of terror envelops the great house.

On this night, as the result of a curse

that has haunted the Collins family

for over a century and a half,

a madman is on the loose, somewhere on the estate.

A search is on to find Gabriel Collins,

before he commits m*rder.

Meanwhile, another member of the family,

Melanie Collins, has made the decision

to marry Kendrick Young.

She is unaware that this will be

the most fateful night of her life.

Julia, don't waste your breath.

None of your arguments matter anymore.

I have my own hopes and dreams,

and Kendrick and I are gonna see that they happen.

[suspenseful music]

Melanie, I wish you would wait!

No, no more waiting!

Whatever happen, this is coming to me. I'm going to take.

Right now.

All right. I can only wish you well.

Julia, it will be all right with Kendrick.

And I'm going to live, really live,

for the first time in my life.

[gasps]

[dramatic music]

Oh, Gabriel, Gabriel!

Where did you come from?

Through the secret panel.

But didn't you know there were many secret panels,

and secrets all through this house?

MELANIE: Well, what are you doing here?

I've come for a specific reason.

I'm going to k*ll you!

- [Melanie gasps] - [ominous music]

k*ll me?

No!

- [Melanie screams] - [screaming]

[dramatic music]

[waves crashing]

[mysterious theme music]

- [tense music] - [Melanie groans]

[screaming]

[Kn*fe clanks]

[thudding]

[Melanie groaning]

Kendrick, Kendrick.

Melanie.

Melanie, it's only in the shoulder.

It's going to be all right.

You're going to be fine.

- JULIA: Melanie? - It's not serious,

he only wounded her in the shoulder.

Gabriel!

KENDRICK: Yes, Gabriel!

You mean he's been in the house all this time?

He came in just after you left,

he seemed to appear from nowhere.

- Where-- - Said he's gonna k*ll me.

- Where, where did he go? - Back through the secret panel.

- Morgan! - You're going to be alright.

Morgan, you go after him.

All right, but I don't think I'll have any more luck

than I've had in the past.

He knows every corridor in this house.

Well, go and get, be armed!

KENDRICK: Melanie, can you walk

or do you want me to carry you?

I, I can move.

Good, I'll help you upstairs,

and then I'll, I'll see to the wound.

I would like Kendrick to come upstairs, too.

All right.

[Melanie groans]

[mysterious music]

[Gabriel laughs maniacally]

Gabriel? Is that you?

GABRIEL: Yes, Morgan, it's Gabriel.

[Gabriel laughing]

Come out Gabriel, and let me see you.

GABRIEL: Oh, no, it's more fun this way.

You amuse me, Morgan.

You think you're on my trail,

when the fact is, I'm on yours.

[Gabriel laughing]

Come out in the open!

GABRIEL: I will, dear brother.

As soon as I tire of the game.

[Gabriel laughing]

You think I'm there?

Well, I'm not.

I'm here!

[Gabriel laughing]

I'll find you, Gabriel.

I swear I'll find you.

Gabriel?

Are you still here?

Gabriel, speak to me!

- [thudding] - [g*n clanking]

GABRIEL: Now, dear brother, I'm going to k*ll you!

[suspenseful music]

[grunting and groaning]

[Kn*fe clanking]

[thudding]

[mysterious music]

How, how does it feel?

[sighs]

Much better, thank you, Julia.

Honey, you've been through a terrible ordeal,

I think you should lie down and rest.

I don't think I will be able to rest

until Gabriel has been found.

Besides, I would like to talk with Kendrick.

As you wish.

I'd like to see him alone, if you don't mind, Julia.

[ominous music]

[dramatic music]

JULIA: All right, Mr. Young, you may stay.

But not too long.

BOTH: Thank you.

[smooching]

What was that for?

Kendrick, you saved my life tonight.

I don't know how I could thank you.

Melanie, there's no need to.

Kendrick, you're a remarkable man.

There's something so right about you.

You've always been there when I needed you.

You've given me everything of yourself,

and demanded nothing in return.

It's because I love you so very much.

[smooches]

And you still wanna marry me?

Despite all the madness and tragedy in this family.

Nothing, nothing could change my mind, ever.

Mr. Young, you've just been given

your last chance to escape.

- [Kendrick chuckling] - It's too late for you now.

You know, in all the excitement,

I almost forgot the reason I came tonight.

MELANIE: Why did you come?

I wanted to find out if Carrie was able to help you.

Melanie, what's the matter?

Carrie was, was being very helpful until Julia intervened.

- Julia. - [thuds]

Always Julia.

What did you find out?

My mother is alive, living somewhere very close by.

Melanie, Carrie was able to tell you that?

- Yes, she had a vision. - [gasps]

In which she saw a woman, leaning over a man's coffin.

The coffin was my father's, the woman was my mother.

Well, did she describe the woman?

That was when Julia interrupted us

and took Carrie back to the cottage.

Kendrick, I think Carrie saw my mother's face.

Well, why didn't you go to the cottage and ask her?

I did, but I think Julia got there before me.

She interceded and somehow made Carrie lie to me.

I know Carrie was lying, and she was terribly frightened.

What is this deep, dark secret

that no one wants you to find out?

Kendrick, I don't have any idea.

Well, you will find out before this night is over.

MELANIE: What are you going to do?

I'm going to see Carrie.

And if she knows the truth, she is going to tell me.

[foreboding music]

JULIA: Mr. Young.

Yes, Ms. Collins.

JULIA: Melanie informed me of your marriage plans.

And you were, of course, against them?

Yes, I was.

And all for the very best reasons.

However, Melanie chose not to heed my warnings,

so I, suppose I should offer you congratulations.

Well, thank you very much, I

never thought I would live to hear you say that.

I wish you both all the best wishes.

Thank you, again.

May I ask, why Melanie wanted to see you alone?

No, you may not ask me,

but if you want to ask Melanie, that's quite all right with me.

If the subject had to do with who her real parents are,

- she should know-- - Ms. Collins the

subject never came up! Good night.

[dramatic music]

[door thudding]

[ominous music]

[footsteps tapping]

[g*n clanking]

[grunting and groaning]

[Morgan yells]

[screaming]

[dramatic music]

[ominous music]

Oh!

You, you didn't find Gabriel?

Yes, I found him.

Or, rather he found me.

Julia, Gabriel is dead.

[dramatic music]

You, you k*lled him?

- No, it was quite accidental. - Where's Quentin?

I'm going to have to have him help me

go upstairs and get the body.

JULIA: He, he returned a moment ago, he's in the study.

What, where, where is the body?

It's upstairs, in one of the secret corridors.

But I wouldn't advise you to go up and look at it.

It's not a very pleasant sight.

[mysterious music]

[knocking]

[Carrie gasps]

May I come in, Carrie?

CARRIE: I don't know whether you should, Mr. Young.

I think you know why I'm here.

Yes, I think I do.

But I can't tell you any more than I told Melanie.

Why not, Carrie?

Because I don't know any more!

Carrie, do you realize how much this means to Melanie?

Mr. Young, I'd do anything in the world for Melanie.

I just can't help her with this!

I'm sorry.

Carrie, Melanie said you had a vision.

You saw a woman.

And you said this woman was her mother.

[eerie music]

Yes, but the vision wasn't clear,

I couldn't see the woman's face.

But just before you were interrupted by Julia,

you told Melanie that the image was clear!

No, not clear enough for me to see.

KENDRICK: Carrie, what are you frightened of?

- I'm not afraid of anything. - Is it Julia Collins?

CARRIE: Why should I be afraid of her?

Because she threatened you the other evening

if you said anything at all to Melanie.

No, that isn't true!

Then you didn't see her?

CARRIE: No, she didn't come here.

But your father said she did!

But that's impossible.

Father wasn't here when she...

[sighs]

Then she was here, Carrie.

Please go, Mr. Young.

Not until you tell me the truth!

[sobs] Please, I don't want to get into trouble.

Carrie, what possible trouble could you get into?

CARRIE: I don't know.

But I'm afraid if I get Julia angry,

she'll make my life miserable.

Carrie, I guarantee you this,

nothing will happen to you. Trust me. Trust Melanie.

Tell me!

Why did Julia come to visit you?

[sobbing]

She made me promise to lie to Melanie.

Then Melanie was right.

The vision was clear enough to see the woman's face!

Yes.

And you know who Melanie's real mother is?

Yes, I know.

KENDRICK: Carrie, look at me.

You must tell me who this woman is, now!

What are you going to do?

Never mind.

Just know that if you tell me this,

you will be doing Melanie the biggest favor of her life.

For Melanie's sake, please, tell me!

[ominous music]

[dramatic music]

Carrie, are you absolutely certain?

CARRIE: Yes, she's the woman I saw in my vision.

It's almost impossible to believe.

Now you know why Julia always tried

to keep it from Melanie.

Yes, but there's a lot more I don't know.

Carrie, believe me, you have done the right thing.

Thank you.

CARRIE: Where are you going?

I have a few words to say, to Melanie's mother.

[gasps]

MELANIE: Oh, Gabriel.

Morgan said he d*ed almost instantly.

[sobs]

Then I suppose, perhaps he's better off.

He's at least at peace now.

Yes, which is more than we are.

How does your shoulder feel?

It's fine, thank you.

JULIA: I better go downstairs and let you get some rest.

Julia.

I want to thank you for, for taking such good care of me.

And I want you to know, I'm terribly sorry

for the way I spoke to you, this morning.

I know that the family is devoted to me,

and I didn't mean to be ungrateful.

I didn't think you were being ungrateful.

I don't blame you for wanting to know something

of your background, it's only natural.

If I seem impatient, sometimes,

when you try to talk about it,

it's because I've always thought of you as one of us.

A Collins.

And, I'd like you to feel that way, too.

That's what papa used to tell me, all the time.

Justin loved you, so very much.

You were his pride and joy, Melanie.

He was such a good man, Julia, [sobs] I miss him so.

Now, now let's not talk about him or we'll both,

we'll both start to cry.

Come let me, let me help you back into bed.

Lie down and rest.

[ominous music]

- [fire roaring] - [eerie music]

[door clanking]

JULIA: Have you attended everything?

Yes.

We took the body and put it in the cellar.

[Julia sighs]

Julia, who's going to tell mother?

JULIA: I will, she's asleep now,

I'll tell her in the morning.

[loud thud]

[ominous music]

You're not a member of the family yet, Mr. Young,

it is customary to knock before entering.

I'm sorry, Ms. Collins, in my excitement I forgot.

- What excitement? - I think you and I

better have a talk, Ms. Collins.

Talk about what?

May we be alone?

I wanna know what you're talking about.

Melanie.

And her mother.

[dramatic music]

I think you know what I mean, Ms. Collins.

Morgan, would you leave us, for just a moment?

Please.

MORGAN: Yes, of course.

I know, Ms. Collins,

I know the truth now.

[suspenseful music]

[knocking]

- Who, who is it? - KENDRICK: Kendrick.

Kendrick.

Just a minute, I'm coming.

Hi, come in.

Did you see Carrie?

Yes, I did.

She admitted that Julie made her lie to you.

Then she really does know.

KENDRICK: Yes, she does.

And I know, too.

I persuaded her to tell me.

Kendrick, you know who my mother is?

I not only know, I've already spoken to her.

MELANIE: Is she, she is close by.

Closer than you would think possible.

Kendrick, tell me!

Who is she?

Wouldn't you rather see for yourself?

- What do you mean? - She's coming here.

She'll be here any minute.

She's coming here, to my bedroom?

Oh, Kendrick, I'm going to know at last, I'm going to know!

[knocking]

Kendrick.

I can't move.

Could you go to the door, please?

KENDRICK: Yes, yes.

[suspenseful music]

[door clanking]

- [dramatic music] - [gasping]

[mysterious theme music]
