Alma: "“Mofongo on the Go Go"”

Eddie/Alma/André: Mmm!

Eddie: Yum!

Alma: Something smells delicious, Mr. King! way way wayyy

James: That means we're close!

Y'all are in for a real treat!

Alma: André's dad is taking us to one of his favorite food trucks.

And I'm hungry!

James: Feast your eyes on that!

The tostones guy!

I've been going to his truck for years!

André: Mmm-hmm.

Fried plantains, salty and delicious.

Ricky T: i¡Gracias! Nos vemos mañana!

Eddie: I heard they have the best tostones around.

James: That's facts. Wait '‘til you try '‘em.

[knocks] What's good, Ricky T?

Ricky T: James! Good to see you, brother!

Your usual.

James: Mm-hmm. My man!

Alma: [gasp] He already knows your order?!

James: Yep, extra crispy with double dipping sauce.

Mm-hmm!

Ricky T: Until la próxima, eh? Enjoy! [knocks]

James: Mmm. Let's dig in while they're fresh.

Alma/Eddie/André: Mmm.

Alma: Mmm! André: Delicious! Eddie: Crunchy!

James: Mmm. So whaddya think?

Alma: They taste as good as they smell!

Eddie: So crispy!

André: [gulp] And perfectly salted! [chef's kiss]

James: I've had some of the finest food from food trucks.

Always dreamed of having my own.

Alma: What would you serve, Mr. King?

James: Definitely fondue.

I'd call it, The King of Fondue!

André: Love it!

But, wait. How would you serve all that melted cheese?

James: [chuckle] That's what I've never figured out.

André: [laughs]

Alma: If I had a food truck, I'd serve...

Alma/Eddie: Mofongo!

[laugh]

Alma: Like all different kinds of mofongo!

Eddie: Yeah. Even dessert mofongo!

James: Now that I'd like to taste.

Alma: What kind of food truck would you have, André?

André: Mine would probably have all kinds of fancy foods.

Maybe, tea sandwiches! Crostinis! Crème brûlée!

And definitely shrimp cocktail.

My favorite!

Alma: Mmmm. I'm getting hungry again.

James: [chuckle] Me too!

Eddie: Same!

James: Be right back.

Alma: Wait a minute...

Maybe we could make our own food trucks!

André: Yeah!

And set up somewhere, like the Community Center!

Eddie: Hey! This weekend my mom is playing at a dominoes tournament there.

Alma: That's perfect! There's gonna be so many hungry people.

Eddie: Hold up. Where are we going to get trucks?

Alma: Hmm.

How about we make our trucks out of cardboard boxes?

André: Awesome idea! Eddie: Ooh! That's good!

James: I'm loving all of this!

But, it's gonna take a lot of hard work and planning to pull it off.

André: Planning and hard work is my middle name.

[giggle] Just kidding.

Alma/Eddie/James: [laugh]

André: Okay. I gotta make a plan.

And find some good recipes.

Will you help me, Dad?

James: Of course!

And, we'll make sure your parents are cool with all this too.

Alma: Thanks!

This is gonna be sa-weet!

Eddie: Hmm.

Mofongo.

Go-go.

André: Hmm. Mmm!

Alma: What does our mofongo truck need?

Eddie: Our truck should be giant!

Alma: [gasp] Yes! And we can paint it with tons of colors!

And decorate it with pictures of mofongo!

Eddie: And we can serve every kind of mofongo!

Alma: [gasp] Shrimp mofongo! Chicken mofongo!

Strawberry mofongo! Mofongo relleno!

Eddie: Yes, yes, yes and sure, why not?!

Ooh! And I'm going to make up raps about our menu to sing to each customer!

Alma: Ah-may-zing!

What are you gonna do for your truck, André?

André: I'm going with jumbo shrimp cocktail, tea sandwiches.

And this crostini recipe.

James: Ready to go the grocery store, André?

André: Okay! Gotta get my ingredients.

See ya! Good luck with your truck!

Alma: You too!

Mami: Ready to make some mo-fon-go?

I can take you food shopping.

Alma: No, thanks. Maybe later.

Right now, I'm designing the truck.

Eddie: And I'm making up a rap.

Mami: You sure?

Alma: Yup! Eddie: Uh -huh!

Mami: Ho-kay. Está bien.

Shout '‘Mofongo!' when you need me!

Alma: Gracias, Mami.

[Chacho barks] Mami: Chacho!

Alma: Mofongo food truck, here we come!

Alma/Eddie: And break!

[claves tapping]

Eddie: Hmm, what rhymes with mofongo?

A-fongo? Bo-fongo? La-fongo?

[claves tapping]

Alma: Whaddaya think?

Come and get your yummy mofongo!

Eddie: Love it!

That'll get people to stop at our truck.

Alma: That's what I'm talking about.

One mofongo truck coming right up!

Eddie: [rapping] We're over here havin' mo' fun, yo

[rapping] Cause we're servin' up all the mofongo!

Hmm, then what? [normal voice]

Alma: Does our truck look good or what?

Eddie: [rapping] It's mofongo on the go, go.

[rapping] Come and get it while I flow, yo.

[normal voice] Yes! That's it!

Alma: Yeah!

André: Hey!

Nice rhymes, Eddie!

Eddie: Thanks!

Oh! Did you bring a snack?

All this rhyming is making me hungry.

André: Here, try these.

[fancy voice] They're fig and ricotta crostinis.

I'm gonna serve these at my '‘fancy food' truck!

Eddie: Mmm -mm! Alma: Mmm!

Alma: Ooo, that's really good!

Eddie: And very fancy.

André: How's your mofongo taste?

Alma: Oh, we haven't started making them yet.

André: Really? Food was the first thing I did.

Well, first I made a plan, then got the ingredients.

Then made the food, and then I made my truck.

Alma: Well, we did this!

And Eddie did that!

Hit it, primo!

Eddie: [rapping] We've got all the mofongo on the go go.

[rapping] Listen to the choices so you know, yo.

[rapping] We got beef for you to eat. shrimp, chicken,

[rapping] And strawberry mofongo for a slightly sweeter treat!

André: Awesome!

I can't wait to try every kind of mofongo you make.

Okay, gotta go. See you in a few hours!

Alma: Yep, see you in a few hours!

Huh. Our mofongo's gotta be ready in a few hours.

Wait a minute.

A few hours!

Eddie!

We spent so much time doing all of this

That we're running out of time to make the mofongo!

Eddie: Uh oh. We can't have a mofongo truck without mofongo!

What are we gonna do?!

Alma: Uhhh. I think we need a plan!

[deep breath] Okay.

What's the first thing we should do?

I gotta think about this...

To make mofongo, we need the ingredients.

So, first we should go to the store.

Then, we can make all the different kinds of mofongo we want.

Eddie: We need shrimp mofongo, chicken mofongo, mofongo relleno, and strawberry mofongo!

Hurry, Alma!

Alma: Ahh!

Oof! We don't have enough time to make that many kinds of mofongo.

Hmm. Oh!

I know what to do.

Eddie: [playing claves] Uh?! Um?!

Alma: Hey, Eddie. We've gotta stop what we're doing and start making the mofongo.

Eddie: But we're running out of time!

Alma: Yup! That's why we gotta go shopping first.

And I think we should only make two kinds of mofongo.

Eddie: Totally agree.

And we already know who can take us shopping.

Alma/Eddie: Mofongo!

Mami: i¡Vamos! To the grocery store!

Yeah, we're gonna need more help.

[knocking]

Tia Gloria: [knocking]

Let's make mofongo!

Eddie: ♪ We're making mofongo, on the go go. ♪

Alma: ♪ It's gonna be tasty, that we know, yo! ♪

Mami: ♪ We got shrimp mofongo! For everyone to eat. ♪

Tia Gloria: ♪ And gonna serve strawberry for a slightly sweeter treat! ♪

Alma: Break it down!

Alma/Eddie/Mami/Tia Gloria: ♪ Go, go, mofongo. Go, go, mofongo. ♪

Alma: Oh, yeah!

Our mofongo food truck is ready for business.

André: Here ya go!

Come get your fancy foods!

[fancy voice] Jumbo shrimp cocktail, tea sandwiches and crunchy crostinis.

Alma: And get your mofongo on the go go!

James: What kind of mofongo's on your menu?

Alma: Hit it, Eddie!

Eddie: [rapping] We're over here havin' mo' fun, yo.

[rapping] '‘Cause we're servin' you up some mofongo!

[rapping] We got shrimp and strawberry on the go go.

[rapping] Pick your flavor you can't go wrong, no!

James: I can't decide, so I'll take both!

Alma: Great choice!

James: [chef's kiss] Voila!

[rapping] This mofongo is tasty and that rhyme was divine!

[rapping] I'm gonna savor this, one bite at a time.

Eddie: Good one, Mr. King!

Alma: Come and get your yummy Mofongo!

Looks like it's a go go, on the mofongo on the go go.

[children playing]

Junior: Wahoo! Alma: Wahoo!

Woot! Woo!

Junior: Zip, zip, zip, zip, zip!

Alma: [laughing]

Junior: Wow, Alma! You're so fast!

Maybe I can be that fast too.

Alma: Thanks!

Wanna race from here to the other end of the playground?

Junior: Uh-huh. I'm in!

Alma/Junior: Ready. Set.

Go!

Junior: Whoa!

Alma: [exhale] Woot!

Am I good or what?

Junior: Weee!

Look what I can do!

[laughing]

Alma: Uh, Junior?

Junior: Go, Junior! Go, Junior! Go! Go! Go go!

Alma: Junior!

Junior: Hi, Alma! What's up?

Alma: I thought you wanted to race? [giggle]

Junior: Changed my mind.

I like riding like this.

Rafia: World's Greatest Scooter-er, coming through.

Hey, Alma!

Hi, Junior!

Junior: Rafia! Didja know that Alma's the fastest scooter-er in the Bronx!

No, wait, the whole world!

Rafia: Oh yeah?

Well, I'm pretty fast too.

Wanna race, Alma?

Alma: Yeah!

It's so on.

Rafia: To the other side and back?

Alma: Let's go!

Junior: On... your... mark...

Get-set-go!

Go, Alma, go!

Alma: [panting]

Rafia: Huh?

Junior: Yay! Alma wins!

Rafia: Alma's the fastest?!

Alma: I'm the fastest?!

Junior: Alma's the fastest!

Alma: Yes!

I'm the World's Greatest Scooter-er!

Rafia: Nice, Alma!

Oh! I hear André got a new scooter.

And he's getting so fast.

Nobody can keep up with him.

Junior: Oh, Alma can,

Alma: Uh-huh!

Rafia: Let's find out.

Alma: Mami, we're gonna go find André.

[chicken clucks]

Alma: Look. There he is!

Hey, André!

André: Hey, everyone!

Alma: Whoa, your new scooter is ah-may-zing!

André: Thanks.

Rafia: Love the purple color!

André: Check out how smooth it turns.

Rafia: Nice! Junior: Wow! Alma: Sa-weet!

But how fast can you ride it?

André: Oh, I can go around the fountain, before I can finish saying:

'‘I'm super duper duper duper duper duper fast!'

Junior: That sounds fast.

Is that fast?

Rafia: Only one way to find out!

Alma: Wanna race?

André: Yeah, sure.

Why not?

Alma: First one around the fountain is the fastest.

André: Okay. You're on!

Rafia: This is gonna be so good.

Junior: On your mark.

Get set!

Go!

Alma: Am I fast or...Huh?

André: Hey, Alma!

Alma: [effort]

Rafia/Junior: [cheering]

Junior: Go, Alma! Rafia: Wahoo!

André: Yes! I'm the fastest!

[high five]

Alma: André won?!

How'd he do that?

Junior: That was so fast! Right, Alma?!

Like faster than you!

Rafia: Congratulations, André!

You're the new World's Greatest Scooter-er!

André: Nice!

Good race, Alma. You're really fast too.

Alma: Thanks. I'm pretty sure I can be even faster.

But, my legs are way, way, wayyy tired from scootering all day.

So, wanna race again tomorrow?

André: Okay.

Rafia: Yes! It's a race...

Rafia/Junior: Re-match!

Junior/Rafia/André/Alma: [giggle]

Alma: Today's the day. I know I can be faster than André.

Junior: Yeah, you can!

Alma: I just gotta practice.

Junior: That's right.

Alma: Whoa, Gabi, you're fast!

Gabi: Thanks, Alma.

Check you out, Junior!

[giggles]

Alma: Wanna race, Gabi?

Gabi: No thanks, I'm cool.

I just like riding around.

[skateboard spin]

Alma: Whoa!

Junior: That move was so cool!

Gabi: Lata!

Alma: Bye! Junior: See ya!

Alma: Time to practice.

[panting]

Junior: Weee!

Wahoo!

Alma: Was I faster than yesterday?

Junior: Definitely faster!

Probably faster.

I think.

Alma: Well, André says he can go around the fountain before he can finish saying,

'‘I'm super duper duper duper duper duper fast!'

So, lemme try that.

Junior: Okay.

Go, Alma!

Alma: I'm super duper duper duper duper duper fast!

For real?!

I didn't make it around the fountain in time.

I think I said it too fast.

I'm going again.

Junior: You got this!

Alma: I'm super... duper... duper... duper... duper... duuuper faaast.

Aw, c'mon!

I still didn't make it around the fountain!

I think it's time for my backup sneakers, Junior.

Maybe I can scoot better with them on.

Junior: Ooo! Great idea!

Alma: [panting]

Was I faster?

Junior: Maybe?

By a teeny bit.

Alma: Hmm, if I scrunch down, maybe I'll be faster.

Junior: Great idea, Alma!

Alma: [panting]

Junior: Your mouth was open. Try closing it when you ride.

Alma: H'okay. Good idea.

Mff! Mmm! Mmph!

Well? How was that?

Junior: I think that was definitely probably for sure faster.

Alma: Sa-weet! I felt faster.

I think I can b*at André now.

Rafia: So, ready to race?

Alma: Totally.

André: Yeah, I'm down.

Junior: It's a race.

Junior/Rafia: Re-match!

Rafia: Alright, remember, first one around the fountain is the fastest.

Junior: On your mark get set go!

Alma: I got this.

Come on. I'm gonna win.

Junior: Let's go! Rafia: Oh yeah!

Junior: Woot! Woot!

André: Yeah!

Rafia: Yeah, André!

Junior: Nice try, Alma!

André: Wow, you are way faster today, Alma!

Alma: Thanks.

But how did I lose again?!

Ugh.

André: Hey, wanna ride by the field?

There's a little hill I want to try out with my new scooter.

Alma: Hey!

That's it!

Rafia/André: Huh?

Junior: Umm, excuse me, what's it?

Alma: André's faster because his scooter is new!

Rafia: Ooo, good point.

Alma: How '‘bout we race again.

But this time, can we trade scooters?

André: Yeah! Then you can see how fast it rides.

You're gonna love it.

Rafia: It's a race...

Rafia/Junior: Rematch! Ree-Match!

Junior: On your mark.

Get set go!

Alma: Okay.

This.

Is.

It!

André: Hi, Alma! My scooter's fast, huh?

Alma: Uh-huh.

I've gotta win this time.

Junior: Alma's winning!

Alma: What?!

Rafia: André, wins!

Junior: Yeah! Rafia: Oh yeah!

Alma: I lost again?!

André: Good race, Alma!

So what do you think of my scooter?

Alma: It's fine.

André: Huh?

What's up, Alma? Are you okay?

Alma: Not really.

I'm not okay.

I feel grumpy and mad.

What should I do?

I gotta think about this...

Rafia: Alma's the fastest?!

Alma: I'm the fastest?!

Junior: Alma's the fastest!

Alma: When I b*at Rafia, I thought I was the World's Greatest Scooter-er.

And that felt way way wayyy good.

André: Yes! I'm the fastest!

Alma: André won?!

André: Yeah!

Rafia: Yeah, André!

Junior: Nice try Alma!

André: Oh yeah!

Rafia: André, wins!

Alma: I lost again!?

But I can't be the greatest if I can't scoot faster than André.

[sigh] And losing does not feel good.

Wanna race, Gabi?

Gabi: No thanks, I'm cool.

I just like riding around.

Alma: Hmm, Gabi and Junior had a lot of fun just riding around.

Ohhh, I know what to do.

Rafia: Maybe we should talk to her.

André: Hey, Alma. You okay?

Alma: Hey, André.

I thought I was the World's Greatest Scooter-er.

But I'm not.

Junior: But, you're really good!

Rafia: Uh-huh!

Alma: Thanks. But André is the World's Greatest and Fastest Scooter-er.

And that's okay with me.

André: Thanks, Alma!

I just like scootering with you.

Alma: Wanna keep riding?

André: Yeah!

Junior: Me too!

Rafia: Me three!

Race ya!

Junior/André/Alma: No, thanks.

Rafia: Okay, just riding around is good too.

I guess.

Junior/André/Alma: [laugh]

André: Let's ride!

Rafia/André/Alma: [laugh]

Junior: Wahoo!

Alma: It's fun to hang out with the Fastest Scooter-er, even if it's not me.

Wait for me!
