Xavier: But, it's time to start the--

Brad: Not yet. This is too much fun.

Yadina: Sorry, Brad. But we've got a show to do.

Xavier: (sighs heavily)

Yadina: Xavier, are you okay?

Xavier: Yeah. It's just this model

has a lot of pieces.

Brad: Yup. That's a lot.

Yadina: You've been working on it for a while-

have you built anything?

Yadina: A paper airplane?

I thought you were building this.

Xavier: Well, I started to build that..

Xavier: But there are so many pieces,

Xavier: I don't think I'll ever finish this spaceship.

Xavier: We're getting something.

That's who we're meeting.

Yadina: Here we go!

Brad: It's happening! Yadina: Hang on Dr. Zoom!

Berby: (laughing)

Yadina: So this is California in .

Xavier: It's so sunny and warm.

Brad: And pretty, and green.

Brad: Ooo, and red.

Julia: Hellooo.. Brad: Woah!

I didn't mean to scare you,

I was just gathering some of these yummy strawberries.

Xavier: Hey, is that...?

Berby: (bleep blarp)

Xavier: Yes, Julia Child!

Yadina: (gasps) Looks just like her-

except for the extra strawberry on her face...

Julia: Ah. Do I have a bit of strawberry on my face?

Julia: Oh dear! I maaaaay have enjoyed a few...

But the rest I'm taking to Grandma's to make jam.

Xavier: Mmmmm. I love strawberry jam.

Yadina: Do you know how to make it?

Julia: Nope. But it'll be fun to learn.

Want to come?

Xavier: Sure! Yadina: Okay!

I could use the help carrying these.

Xavier: Awesome. Sure! Brad: I love jam!

(grunting)

Xavier: You picked these all by yourself?

Julia: Yes. Picked one strawberry at a time.

Grandma says you can do anything

if you take it one step at a time.

(struggling)

Julia: Hi Grandma.

Big load of strawberries coming through.

Kids: Woo! (huffing)

Julia's Grandmother: Hello Julia.

Yadina: (sniffs) Ah, what's that yummy smell?

Julia: Could it be...

Grandma's famous broiled chicken!

Kids: Oohh. Xavier: Woo ho ho!

Julia: Yum! Yadina: Ahhh.

Xavier: Was it hard to make?

Julia's Grandmother: Not so hard.

I used a recipe. See?

Recipes explain step by step how to cook something.

Brad: Do you have a recipe for your strawberry jam?

Julia: Nope. But I know what jam tastes like,

so that's a good start.

Julia's Grandmother: Oh I see. Well, have fun.

And let me know if you need any help.

Xavier: So, um, what should we do first?

Julia: Hmm. Well, jam is mushy...

so let's mash up the strawberries.

Yadina: Mash them up with what?

Julia: Hmm.

(gasp!)

With these things.

(humming softly)

(tap water flowing)

Julia: Yum Yum Yum!

(humming) (water running)

(giggling)

Yadina: Squishy! Brad: And messy...

Xavier: Strawberries mashed.

Now what?

Julia: Jam's mushy and sweet.

So let's add something sweet.

But what? What what what what what?

Brad: Apples? Yadina: Cookies?

Xavier: Apple cookies?

(marching music)

Julia: What about... honey?

Yadina: Good idea!

Xavier: How much should we add?

Brad: The whole bottle?

Julia: Why not? Ooh.

Yadina: Hey--that's the spoon we saw at the Secret Museum.

Julia: This is hard to stir.

Phew.

Xavier: Should we use our hands again?

Julia: Ooooh, great idea!

Let's clean our hands.

All: (grunting)

(laughter)

Julia: Dee-lightful!

Okay, enough mixing. Let's try it.

Brad: It's not bad.

Yadina: Hard to eat.

Xavier: And not very jam-y.

Julia: Agreed. We'll can try it again.

Yadina: This one is all yours, Dr. Zoom.

Xavier: Making jam is like making my model ship.

I know how it should turn out,

but putting it together is so hard.

(sigh) (thunk)

Julia: Hmm...

Oh! Grandma's recipe box...

Yadina: Recipes tell you how to cook stuff one step at a time.

Julia: Yes. Grandma said you can do anything

if you take it one step at a time.

Xavier: That's right!

So maybe what we need is a--

Julia: Grandma? Do you have a jam recipe?

Julia's Grandmother: Oh!

I thought you'd never ask.

Julia's Grandmother: Oh, found it!

One strawberry jam recipe.

Julia: Thank you, Grandma!

First step: Smush the strawberries.

(laughing)

Brad: Next step: add maple syrup.

Julia: A lot less sticky than honey.

(playful music) ♪♪

Xavier: Now we add... pectin?

Julia's Grandmother: Ah! Pectin is an ingredient

that makes food jelly-like.

(humming)

Julia: Next step: it needs to cook.

Julia's Grandmother: (laughs)

I'll handle this step.

Julia's Grandmother: Okay- the jam's cooked and cooled.

Julia: (laughing)

Now for the most scrumptious step:

the taste test.

Group: Mmmm.

Xavier: Hmmm. Tastes like...

Kids: Jam! (giggles)

Julia's Grandmother: (sigh) Good for you, kids.

Xavier: Wow. If we can make this,

then maybe I can make my spaceship.

Julia: Like I always say,

you can do anything if you take it one step at a time.

Julia's Grandmother: I believe it was me who said that.

Julia: You're right Grandma.

Xavier: Thanks, Julia. This was fun.

We have to go now.

Xavier/Brad/Yadina: Bye!

Xavier: Berby, let's go home. Berby: Yippie!

Xavier: Let's try this again. I just need a recipe.

Brad: No, but they do have instructions,

with steps on how to build them.

Yadina: Hmm, where are the instructions?

They must be around here somewhere...

Xavier: Check out today's sandwich.

It's got ham, pineapple, lettuce, olives and sprinkles.

Xavier: Behold. The meatloaf, mayo and marshmallow sandwich.

Brad: Out of jelly, huh?

Was bound to happen eventually.

Xavier: Maybe this is a chance to try something new?

Yadina: Eww. Try something new?

Brad: Oooh, marmalade.

It's just like jelly, but with little fruit bits in it.

Yadina: Fruit... bits? Nuh-uh.

How am I supposed to try eating that?

Xavier: Well, you've gotta eat something for lunch.

(grumbles)

Yadina: Okay, this is a problem.

Xavier: And that means... To the Secret Museum!

(adventurous music) ♪♪

Xavier: I wonder who the Secret Museum will send us to meet?

Yadina: And where we'll go?

Brad: And wheeeen?

Xavier: Woohoo! Yadina: Look out below!

Xavier: Hi, Berby. Yadina: Hi, Berby.

Well, at least I didn't get stuck in a tree.

Neil Armstrong: What's wrong with being in a tree?

Brad: Huh?

Neil Armstrong: I've never been...(grunt)

this high before.

Xavier: Wow! It's him, Neil Armstrong.

Yadina: How did you get up there?

Neil: I climbed.

One step at a time.

That's how I always try new things.

Xavier: 'Try new things'.

That's what I said you should do with the marmalade.

Neil: Hey, my model plane!

I've been looking for that... woah!

(cr*ck) All: (gasps)

Neil: I'm fine.

Yadina: See? that's why I don't want to try new things.

It seems so scary.

Neil: Actually, trying new things is great.

It can be scary sometimes,

but the trick is to do it one step at a time.

Yadina: Like how you climbed that tree?

Neil Armstrong: Exactly.

And now I know how great it feels to be way up high.

Next time I'm going even higher.

Brad: You want to climb a taller tree?

Neil Armstrong: No! I want to try something totally new!

Neil Armstrong: I'm going to fly a plane one day.

A real one.

(plane noises)

Yadina: I wonder if he'll really learn to fly some day...

Xavier: I think we're about to find out.

Berby: (bleep blarp)

Brad: Oooof! Where are we?

Xavier: Whoa. We're in a real plane!

Yadina: We're flying, Dr. Zoom!

Brad: But, I'm not wearing a parachute.

And where are the seatbelts?

And where's Neil?

Xavier: He said he wanted to fly a plane,

so, he must be flying this one.

Yadina: Way to go, Neil Armstrong.

Yadina: Oh, you're not Neil.

Xavier: Hey, it's Neil.

Brad: What's he doing?

Hi Neil!

Xavier: Huh.

Neil: I'm about to test fly this new rocket plane!

Xavier: Now that is trying something new.

Yadina: But if you've never tried this before,

how are you going to do it?

Neil: One step at a time.

Step one,

I learned everything I could about how to fly an airplane.

Step two,

I learned how to fly this one.

Xavier: And step three?

Neil: Getting all my safety gear on:

helmet, seat belt, parachute.

Brad: Very important step.

Neil: And now, I'm ready to go.

In three-- two-- one--

Blast off!

Neil: Woohoo!

(whooosh)

Yadina: Whoa.

Yadina: That... was...

Yadina/Xavier/Brad: Amazing!

Xavier: If Neil Armstrong can fly a rocket plane,

maybe you could try something new too, Yadina?

Brad: Yeah, you've just gotta try it one step at a time.

Yadina: Nuh-uh.

Flying a rocket plane is not the same as trying...

But I am curious--

Brad: About what marmalade tastes like?

Yadina: No.

Brad: (gasp) It's Neil Armstrong!

Xavier: He landed on the moon?

Yadina: Wow. How did he do it?

Neil Armstrong: That's one small step for man,

one giant leap for mankind.

(inspirational triumphant music) ♪♪

Yadina: Of course.

I was thinking--

If Neil Armstrong can try that one step at a time,

maybe Dr. Zoom and I can try...

Brad: (gasps) That's great.

Xavier: Totally.

Yadina: (deep breath)

Let's do this.

Step one: scoop up the marmalade.

Step two: spread it on the bread.

Step three: close the sandwich.

Xavier: And now,

Brad: She's going to take a bite...

Yadina: I like it!
