- It's pretty perfect.

- Now that we've foundthe perfect shell,

let's go tell Splash and Bubbleswe're ready to play.

- Again, I totally agree.

Race you.[laughs]

- Now, we just need the perfectplace to put our shell.

Where to put it?- [mumbling]

- Nah, that's too obvious.

I'm gonna get a better viewof the area.

I'll be right back.- Okay.

- No, wait a minute!How did that happen?

- Maybe I'll put it--yeah, I don't know.

- Ha-ha!Can't catch me!

- Oh, no!They're gonna collide!

Splash!

- Bubbles?- Look out!

- Whoa!

- Oh. Hey, guys, you okay?I didn't see you there.

- Whoa, whoa, whoa,whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa!

That was amazing, Splash!

You couldn't seethose two zooming at you,

but you movedat the last second.

How did you know?

- Well, I don't know,I just--

I could just sensethat they were coming,

and I thought, "I better move,"so I did.

- Wow!You zipped right to the side,

and we wentstraight into the sand.

- Yeah![spitting]

I think I ate some.

- I tell you, Splash.

It's like you had eyesin the back of your head.

- [gasps]Do I?

- Oh.- Do I?

Huh?Huh?

- Let's see.- Huh?

- Nope.- Oh.

- It's more like Splash hassome kind of superpower.

[both gasp]

- You mean our friend Splash

is a superhero?

- Let's not get carried awayby the tide here.

Splash could've just gottenlucky with that crazy dodge.

- Or he could haveother superpowers

we don't even know about!

- Well,I can't be a superhero--

or can I?

- Hmm.

We need to test it

and find out just how superSplash really is.

- Super Splash.Oh, I do like the sound of that.

- Oh, oh, oh!Can I be your sidekick?

Every superheroneeds a sidekick.

Danger Dunk will take careof these bad guys.

Hi-ya!

- Uh, uh, uh, uh, uh.Not so fast.

One superhero at a time,Danger Dunk.

- Okay, Splash,we're ready for you.

All three of us are hiddenin the dark.

When you swim through,we'll jump out

and try to surprise you.

- Okay. Oh, I hope I don'tget too scared.

- Don't worry. You won't,because you're Super Splash!

- Yeah! Okay.Ready or not, I'm coming in.

Oh. Wow, it's dark in here.Hmm.

- Huh?- But how did you--

- Wha?

I can't believe it!You did it!

- It was so dark in there.How did you know we were coming?

- Like I said, I could justsense something coming,

and I knewto get out of the way.

- Exactly!

You do havesome kind of extra sense

that tells you whento get out of the way.

- He can dodge things.He can sense things.

He's...

all: Super Splash!

- I wonder what othersuperpowers Super Splash has.

Superstrength?

- Ooh, X-ray vision?

- Are you a flying fish?

- Fear not, citizen pals.

My powers shall revealthemselves soon enough!

As soon as I figure outwhat they are.

- Oh, we should head backto Reeftown

and see if anyone needsyour help.

- Yeah.Super Splash to the rescue.

- Yes. To Reeftown!- To Reeftown!

- [laughing]Okay.

Yeah.

Huh.Oh.

Well, looks like everything'sfine in Reeftown today.

- Yep. No rescuing needed here.- Yeah.

- Keep your chin up, Splash.

Something bad is bound to happensooner or later.

all: Huh?

- Okay, that came out wrong,but you know what I mean.

- I guess so.

- Oh, hey.

Have any of you seena shiny rock

around here anywhere?

I seem to have misplaced it.

- Fear not, citizen of Reeftown.

I, Super Splash,shall find it for you.

Hoo!Let's go see.

Ah.[clears throat]

Is this the rockyou're looking for?

[spits]

- Oh, yeah.Thanks, Splash.

- Ha-ha.all: Wow!

- Looks like Super Splashsaved the day.

all: Hooray!

- Thanks.

- Ha-ha! Oh, did you seehow fast I found that rock?

Looks likethat's superpower number two.

- Yeah!Two superpowers in one fish.

- Good thingyou were around, huh?

- Ha! I can't wait to see whatother superpowers I have.

I bet I can dojust about anything.

- So...

did you guys hear about Flo?

Looks like we got some kindof emergency on our hands here.

- Flo is in trouble?[gasps]

Super Splash to the rescue!

- Oh!This is it!

- [laughs]

- Hero time!- Yeah, let's go!

- Oh. Hero, huh?I'd better go tell everybody.

Ha-ha-ha!

- Aah!

- Oh, no, Flo.

What happened?

Flo, are you hurt?

- Hello there, kids.

Oh, nothing hurt but my pride.

I just can't get my flipper out!

- Oh! How in the slipperysea snakes did this happen?

- Well, I sawthis poor little urchin

tumble downbetween these two rocks

and thought I'd help him out.

You know, every creature counts.

- I stuck!

- Yeah, stuck is right, urchin.- Stuck!

- Flo, today is your lucky day.

Super Splash is hereto save you.

Right, Super Splash?

- Dunk's right.

I, Super Splash, should be able

to get you freeof this rock pronto

with my superstrength.

Ha-ha!Okay.

Let us observe the situation.

Ha!Easy.

♪ ♪

- Huh?Huh?

- Ooh![sighs]

Whoo.Okay.

Any second now.

I'll just--I'll try again.

- I'm not an experton superstrength,

but shouldn't he be movingthe rock by now?

- Yeah, sure seems like it.

- Almost there!

- Splash?Do you want some help?

- [panting]No, no, no.

No, I got this.I really do.

You see,superheroes don't need help.

They just need to concentrateand...

- What's all the commotion?

- Oh,Flo's got her flipper stuck

between those two rocks.

- I'm fine.I just need to get it out.

- Is there a reason Splash isthe only one helping her out?

- You mean Super Splash.

He doesn't need help.He's got superpowers.

- Still stuck.- Sorry, little guy.

- We can't all just float aroundwhile our friend Flo needs help.

- Oh, okay.

- No, no, no.I got this.

Never mind.Thanks for the help, guys.

- You can do it!

Ha-ha!- Aah!

- Thank goodnessI'm out of there.

What made you thinkyou could've been able

to shove that huge rockon your own?

- He's Super Splash now.

- With the most amazingsuperpower.

- Yeah,he can sense things coming

and zip out of the way,like this,

even in the dark.

We tested it.

- Oh.That.

[laughs]Yeah.

You sure Splash is the only onewho can do that?

- Yeah.- Yeah, of course.

- Okay, then.

Hey, Dunk.Take a look over there.

- Huh? What?What am I looking at?

- Aha!

- Oh. Hey, Gush.I didn't see anything.

- Dunk!

You did it!

- You have the sense too!

- I do?Weird!

- Well, not really, Dunk.

What you and Splash are doing

is usingyour lateral line sense.

- Oh.What's that?

- It's a special touch sensethat most fish have.

It can detect small changesin the water around you.

- What kind of changes?

- Vibrations, water motion,even water pressure.

When fish sense these changes,they can react very quickly,

like Dunk just did,and like Splash did earlier.

- But what's it for?

- Well, the lateral line sense

helps fish avoidrunning into each other

or to find or follow preyor stay in a current,

even when they can't seewhere they're going.

- Well, that explains how

I could even avoid you guysin the dark.

- Yeah, but if all fishcan do this,

then that meansthat none of us are superheroes.

all: Aww.

- Or we're all superheroes.

[gasps]We're so lucky!

- Even us seahorses?- Absolutely.

- But why didn't we knowabout it before?

I mean,this is pretty big stuff.

- Well, you're young

and just startingto use the sense.

You'll get better at itas you get older.

- Well, there's only one wayI know

to get betterat using something.

[all yelling]

- Missed me!

- Whoa![laughs]

- What's the matter, Splash?

You don't like usingyour lateral line sense?

- Oh, no, I do,it's--it's really cool,

but, well, I just kind of likedbeing a superhero.

- Well, you know what?You can still be a superhero.

- I can?- Sure. You were one today.

You came to the aidof someone in need.

You helped Floand the little urchin.

- Hey, I guess I did, huh?

- A superhero is someone

who is alwaysthe best fish they can be

every day no matter what.

- Wow, Gush.That's true. Thanks!

- Let's get him, guys!

- Almost got him!

both: Missed us!

[laughter]

male announcer: And now it's time to...

all: Get your feet wet!

- If you could have an oceansuperpower, what would it be?

male announcer: The power of archerfish.

[electricity zaps]

announcer: Archerfish have keen eyes

to spot their food above the water,

and when they see their target...

They spit super fast jets of water to catch their food.

Is it a shark?

You don't have to decide 'cause it's a shark ray.

This unusual fish uses its face to sense the electrical fields

around animals it wants to eat, like lobsters.

and find your next meal.

The ocean is full of unique and amazing superpowers.

Shark ray, archer fish, unite!

- Ocean superpowers!

announcer: This has been...

[children cheering]

- Here she goes,here she goes, here she goes.

She's a master.Look at that.

- Oh!- Wow!

- I can't believe she did it!

Wow.- There she goes again.

- Yeah!- Can she make it to six?

- No way.

No way, that's so high!

- She's gonna do it.

- Hello?

Hello?

- Guys!

I think someone needs our help.

- What?Who?

- I don't know,

but I heard someoneasking for help.

both: Huh.

- I didn't hear anyoneasking for--

- Help!

- Okay.That time, I heard it.

- Well, let's go,Reeftown Rangers.

Come on.This way.

- Hmm.

I know the voice camefrom over here somewhere,

but no one's here.

- Well, let's split upand find out who needs help.

- Okay.- Yeah.

- Hello?

- Hey.Where are you?

- Down here!- Huh?

[gasps]

Zee?

What are you doing in there?

- Eh, not much at the moment.

Just kind of hanging out.

- Hey,did you guys find anything?

Oh.Never mind.

- Zee!Are you stuck in there?

- Yeah.- How did that happen?

- Yeah, you must havequite a tale to tell.

[laughs]- If you must know,

I was chasing down some lunchthrough this canyon

and didn't realizeI was a little too big

to fit through.

- [laughs]Okay, Reeftown Rangers.

Let's help our friend.

I'll go pushfrom the other side.

- Yeah, I'll help too.- Okay.

- Here we go.- Whoa! Whoa!

- Okay. Bubbles. You pull,and then Dunk and I will push.

- Okay.- Yeah.

- I'm coming, Zee,

as soon as you stopspinning around.

- Okay, here we go.

On the count of three.One, two, three.

[grunting]

Push!- I can help.

Okay, I'll get over here.

- Bubbles, pull!- I am!

[all grunting]

- What can I do to help?

[all yelling]

- Yes!I'm free!

- I'm so glad you're okay, Zee.

Great job, Reeftown Rangers.

- Phew.That was a tough one.

[mellow music]

- Yeah.Great job.

- Guys, thank you so muchfor rescuing me.

- The Reeftown Rangersare always happy to help.

- Yep.It was a real team effort.

- Yeah, but some helpedmore than others.

- Well, I'm thankfulto all of you for helping.

In fact, let's go havea celebratory snack.

- Me!Oh, I am, I am.

- I'm just gonna hang out herefor a bit if that's okay.

- Well, sure.Of course it is.

But be sureto avoid those canyons.

Don't want to get stuckin there.

I guess I really am luckyto have such great friends

who are so talented.

They can swim fastand they're so strong,

and they can dolots of great stuff.

I love my friends,

but I just wishthat I could make a difference

and help others like they do.

I know I couldif I just had the chance.

[sighs]

I thought you were a rock.

I mean, not in a bad way, just--

- It's okay.It happens.

I mean, I kind of blend inwith the rocks.

- Yeah.I guess you do a little.

I'm Ripple.

- Hi, Ripple.

Don't worryabout not noticing me.

It comes with the territoryof being an oyster.

- Hey, Ripple.- Hi, Ripple.

- Hola, Ripple.- Oh, hi.

- See?They didn't notice me either.

- You know, my friends andI play over here all the time.

Have you been here long?

- No, not long.Maybe ten years.

- [gasps]Ten years?

You mean I've been ignoring youall this time?

How come you never said anythingto us when we play over here?

- Oh, well, since I liveinside this shell,

I have a little problemopening up to others.

- Oh, but we could'veplayed together

or racedor lots of other fun stuff.

- Yeah.I'm okay just sitting in my spot

and watching the world swim by.

- Well, what do you do all day?

Do you get to have fun?

- Oh, yeah, sure.

Whenever anyonecomes around here,

I get to see them playing,and that's pretty fun.

Oh, and sometimes, I getto hear them telling jokes,

which I just love.

- [gasps]Jokes?

You mean like, why did the sharkspit out the clownfish?

- Why?- Because he tasted funny!

[both laughing]

- Okay, okay, okay.I have one.

What did the Atlantic Oceansay to the Pacific Ocean?

- Hmm.I don't know.

- Nothing. Oceans don't talk.They just wave.

[both laughing]

- Oh, that's a good one.

Oh, you're so funny.

Hey, do you want to gomeet my friends?

- Oh, I would,but I'm a sessile creature,

which means I don't really getup from this spot. Ever.

- Okay.I get that you're sessile,

but if you never leavethis spot,

does that meanthat this is all you see?

- Yes, but there's so muchbeauty right here.

I'm sure your friends wouldn'twant to meet an oyster

that lives in a dirty old shellcovered in muck.

- That is not true.

Pearlene, you're a wonderful,smart, and caring oyster,

and my friend Bubblesloves muck.

- Really?- You bet!

And my other friend Splashwould love your jokes.

Oh, and my other friend Dunkhas a rock collection,

so he would love to hearabout living on a rock.

- Are you sure?

I mean, living on a rockis a little different.

- Yeah, but different is good.

All of the creaturesbeing different

is what makes the oceanso wonderful.

- Maybe you're right.

Maybe it is time that I--open up a little.

Oh.Sorry.

SometimesI don't speak very clearly.

I got some sand caughtin my mantle a little while ago,

and I've just been covering itwith nacre ever since.

- Oh, is that shiny nacre stuffhelping?

- I don't think so.

It seems like the sandis just getting bigger

and bigger as time goes on.

- Oh.Has it been there a long time?

- Oh, no, no,just maybe seven years.

- You've had sand stuckin your mantle for seven years?

Let me get that out for you.

- Oh, no, no.Well, are you sure?

- Yeah, it's fine.

I'll get the sand out so you'llbe able to speak clearly again.

Let me just take a--[gasps]

Whoa.

That is not sand.

- What is it?

- It's a pearl.

It's the most beautiful pearlI've ever seen.

All the muck in the worldcouldn't cover that up.

- You mean I havethe most beautiful pearl ever?

- You sure do, and if that's notthe most beautiful pearl ever,

then my name isn't--

- Ripple!- That's right.

- Ripple! We've been lookingeverywhere for you.

Where have you been?

- I've been right here

with my new friend, Pearlene.

- Oh.- Hi.

- Wow!

That is the nicest finballI've ever seen.

- [laughs]Actually, it's a pearl.

- Well, it's the nicest pearlI've ever seen too.

- Yeah, and what a cool spotto live in.

Nice and icky,just the way I like it.

- Told you.

- Hey, Ripple,we just wanted to check

and make sure we didn't hurtyour feelings earlier.

- No, it wasn't your fault.

I just felt badbecause I was the only one

who didn't help Zee, that's all.

- But you did help.

There are lots of different waysto help someone.

You were the onethat heard Zee calling.

Without you,we never would've done anything.

- Ripple,you're a great listener,

and you always notice things

that other creaturesdon't notice.

- Kind of like me.

- Yep. That's what makes youa great friend.

- Oh, speaking of great friends,

Pearlene has never seenthe rest of the reef.

- What?- I know!

- Well, you have to see it,Pearlene.

- There's so much to see.

- Well, that sounds nice,but I don't know if I'm ready

to go aroundand see the whole big reef.

- Pearlene, if you never takethe time to open up to others,

they'll never get to see howbeautiful you are on the inside.

- I know. You're talkingabout my pearl, right?

- [laughs]No, Pearlene.

I'm talking about you.

- Really?

Okay. Let's go seewhat there is to see.

[gasps]

- Ripple,next time you think

you're not goodat making a difference,

remember this moment.

- Thank you so muchfor showing me this.

- A whole lot more,

and if you stick with us,you're gonna see it all.

- And now it's time to...

- What does an oyster eat?

♪ ♪

- We're a third-grade classroomfrom Oregon.

- And we're studying oysters.

♪ ♪

- Oysters use their gillsto catch food.

♪ ♪

- Oysters eat tiny plantsin the water

called phytoplankton.

♪ ♪

- I'm an oyster,

and this green phytoplanktonis my food.

[all speaking at once]

Yum!

[all speaking at once]

♪ ♪

- Today we're doingan experiment.

We filled two aquariums with salt water.

We put oysters in only one aquarium.

Then we added green phytoplankton to the water.

Let's see what happens.

♪ ♪

- Look at the t*nk on the left.

The water is clearing up.

♪ ♪

- The oysters clean the water.

♪ ♪

all: Oysters!

- Wow!

Oysters clean the ocean.

- This has been...

[children cheering]

[upbeat music]
