Personally, Snook,

I don't find ants that interesting.

In fact,

I can think of many

more fascinating creatures.

Hmm...

Why, birds, for example-- like me.

SNOOK: Yep, birds

sure are interesting.

Uh, yeah, I guess.

I wonder where they went.

[ chuckling ]: Don't worry, Bob.

I'm sure the ants just went back to their nest.

Well, I think nests are very interesting.

Yeah, I guess.

They must be bringing back food for the queen.

Queen?

The ants have a queen?

Yup, um, every nest of...

[ gulps loudly]

ants has a queen.

SNOOK: Yep, they have

a very special relationship.

The queen ant stays behind

while the worker ants gather food

and bring it back to her.

Well, I'm surprised I didn't think of it sooner!

Yeah!

Uh, Burdette, think of what sooner?

I don't think we've ever had a queen

in the World Tree before.

BURDETTE: And let my royal self

thankest you in advance

for your support, my loyal subjects.

BOTH: What's a subject?

As queen, I have decided to decree...

whatever--

an official duty upon you both.

What is she saying?

I have no clue.

[ clears throat ]

Oh, I think she means she has something for us to do!

Indeed I do.

You have the great privilege

to send out wide and far a message

to all the inhabitants of the World Tree.

BURDETTE: Tell one and all

that just as ants have their queen,

I, Burdette, am now

queen of the World Tree.

[ yawning ]: Got it.

Who are we telling this to?

Everyone!

And what should we tell the animals

who want to know why theycan't be queen?

[ no voice]

Now it's time to practice my queenly wave.

Uh, I'm building a nest.

What's wrong with where you live now?

Well, I do like my home,

but Queen Burdette thought a nest might be better.

Hmm.

Uh, I don't know if a nest

is right for you, Bob.

I mean, you are an anteater, after all.

Burdette said it would help my chances

of becoming Minister of Ant Relations.

which way Her Highness went?

and I am thrilled to announce that I have been named

Minister of Underwater Affairs!

A suggestion from our new queen, I think.

Rather interesting, actually.

It seems Burdette thought Wartz would sound better

if he squawked instead of croaked.

Ah, so you've heard about the new queen?

Oh, yes, my good sloth, Snook.

That's precisely why I've been doing some research.

I've prepared a report fit for a queen.

This should be good.

MADGE: You see, ants live in communities,

and in the World Tree,

we make up a kind of community, too.

WINSLOW: But how do those ants

put up with having a queen?

Yeah, she's had us running around all day!

Well, I think Burdette might have gotten the wrong idea

about what a queen ant does.

Be a pain in the...

Uh-uh-uh-uh-uh!

[ Madge chuckles]

Even though some ants work to help the queen,

the truth is the queen works just as hard as everyone else

in the colony.

In fact, you could say

she has the hardest job of all.

She has to set up new nests

for the ants to live in.

Oh, hello there!

Are you all waiting for instructions from the queen?

I'm ready.

Not exactly.

What?

Remember when you told us you were the queen of the World Tree

just like the ants have a queen?

Of course I remember.

It turns out being queen ant

is more than just telling everybody else what to do.

Yeah.

The queen ant works just as hard as the other ants.

If not harder.

And she cares for all of the other ants.

And even raises the young ones.

Well... maybe she raises them from afar.

Sure is a lot of ants to take care of.

Yeah, and I bet the queen ant never has any free time

to sit in her nest and feel the breeze fluff her wings. Hmm?

Really?

Uh, um, you know...

I was thinking... you monkeys don't really need a queen.

So you don't want to be queen anymore?

Never cared for the job, really.

Oh, all that ordering people around-- it's exhausting.

Well, Burdette, I think there's

one last thing you need to do.

Uh... what's that?

As Minister of Underwater Affairs,

I will now take questions from the floor!

Okay, lily pads, line up, line up!

BURDETTE: So, I really have to tell Ick

since I'm not queen anymore

he's back to just being

plain old Ick?

[ yammering at lily pads]

I think we're going to have to break it to him slowly.

[ chuckling ]

ICK: Right, you look great.

Okay, Frances? Yes.

No, Frances, you've had enough floor-time.

A question from over here?

[ song begins ]

[ yells ]

What was that?

WARTZ: Oops!

Uh, sorry about that, Snook.

Oh, Wartz!

Ook, ook!

Okay...

Uh, that wakeup was a little sudden

for a sleepy sloth.

Uh...

Do you want to fill me in

on what's been going on?

Ook, ook!

Uh, Wartz, you're walking kind of funny for a frog.

Ook, ook!

That's because-- ook--

I'm not going to be a frog anymore.

Whoa... huh.

How interesting.

But... if you're not going to be a frog,

then what are you going to be?

Just curious.

I'm going to be a monkey.

A monkey?

Yes, it's time to release my inner monkey.

That's what Winslow keeps telling me I should do.

Oh, I forgot...

Ook, ook

Oh, Winslow says that.

I'm still not very good at scratching under my arms yet.

Ook, ook!

But I'll get it!

I've got my whole life ahead of me as a monkey.

But, uh, Wartz,

you might be able to act like a monkey,

to pretend for a little while, but...

No worries!

I'm just about to tell Smooch and Winslow.

They're going to love my new monkey self.

Let's go see what those two monkeys are up to, w*r...

Yeah-- stop acting like such a... monkey!

But... I'm with you guys now.

I'm living the monkey life!

you can't have too many monkeys.

Unless they're all in a bed

and I don't want to start on that one.

WINSLOW: Yep--

[ percussive music playing]

you know, like "marmoset."

Well, frog-ocet, you're just in time

for the most important part of a monkey's day.

Swinging from vines?

b*ating your chest and doing the Tarzan yell?

[ imitating Tarzan yell ]

Nope.

Breakfast.

Bananas and tree sap!

It's the best.

Mmm...

Yum, yum, yum.

You guys don't eat flies?

Even a few?

Sure.

SMOOCH: Yeah, sometimes

when we're swinging through the trees

with our mouths open.

They fly right in.

I coughed one up once.

WARTZ: Uh...

cool.

[ weakly]: Ook, ook.

Okay, Wartz--

just take a good bite out of the tree trunk over there

with your teeth, and suck the sap out.

Yeah, it's tasty stuff.

But, uh... I don't have teeth.

Well, then you can have some bananas.

We eat them, too.

Great.

And now it's time for a little exercise.

That sounds like fun.

Yeah.

The morning race to the top of the tree.

And you have to do it like a monkey.

SMOOCH: Use your hands.

And tail, like monkeys use.

Last one up is a howler!

Whoo!

I can't go that fast!

Hands?

Tail?

Frogs don't have those.

I'm just not getting the hang of this monkey business.

[ Winslow laughing]

You know, Smooch, I'll never understand

exactly why my nest always has to be the finish line

for your monkey races.

[ monkeys giggling]

Gee...

we don't know either.

Yeah, sorry to wake you up... again.

Oh, monkeys!

[ out of breath ]: Hey...

I'm... I'm going to be a monkey.

Wartz, you're finally here!

I would be flattered, bupretending is one thing.

Hate to break this to you,

but you'll always be a tree frog

and that's a really great thing.

Tree frogs are the best!

I mean, you're an amphibian.

How cool is that?

And you've got that sac,

and I've heard flies are pretty tasty...

uh... but don't tell Tse Tse that.

But I can't keep up with Smooch and Winslow,

and I'm not good at swinging on vines.

And I'm afraid they won't like me.

Um... hey, Wartz!

Sorry we lost you back there.

Yeah, are you okay?

You ol' frog-ocet...

uh... I mean, frog.

Um, Wartz, we were wondering if you could do something for us.

Really?

I'm not really that good at the monkey stuff.

like a tree frog!

You know, there are so many amazing creatures

that live here in the World Tree.

Yeah, we got marmosets, anteaters, turtles, monkeys,

birds, ants and frogs... and you!

Yep, you're an animal, too.

Not to toot my own horn or anything,

but I think we sloths are pretty interesting animals.

Did you know that I'm an herbivore?

All sloths are.

It means that we only eat plants, sh**t, leaves

and sometimes fruit.

That's a good diet for slow-moving creatures like me.

Leaves are pretty easy to catch.

[ chuckles]

One of my favorite animals is my friend Wartz.

He's a red-eyed tree frog.

Tree frogs are really great climbers, yeah.

Most have sticky pads on their feet,

and those pads help them climb trees

and leap through the treetops.

Whoa, tree frogs sure are amazing,

and I think Wartz is the most amazing tree frog I've ever met.
