Hmm?

Huh?

A banyan leaf?

I wonder where that came from?

Oh, hey there.

Did you see that banyan leaf?

Whoa.

Who turned out the lights?

Oh, hey.

There you are.

And here I am.

Bye, leaf.

[ chuckles]: Boy...

it sure is windy today.

I wonder what's going on up there,

in the sky and the clouds?

Let's go up to the top of the tree

and take a look at the weather.

Come on.

[ wind blowing]

Whoa, will you look at those gray storm clouds.

Mm, when you see clouds like that

you can be pretty sure a storm is coming.

Hey, ever wonder what makes clouds gray?

Well, see, clouds are made up of teeny tiny water droplets

or bits of ice, and if a cloud gets really thick,

the light from the sun can't make it through,

so it looks gray or dark.

[ wind blowing]

Come on, let's go.

Hey, do you worry about storms?

Sometimes kids can get afraid in storms,

but storms never last very long,

and things always eventually get back to normal.

Hmm?

Aha! Gotcha.

Huh, what a pretty leaf.

There's a lot of those flying around today.

Oh, hey, Burdette.

Hi, Snook. You're up early.

Did the wind wake you?

No, actually it was a leaf.

Oh, but the wind was blowing the leaf around.

This one in fact.

Ah, a banyan leaf.

That's right, Burdette.

You know your leaves.

You know, Snook,

I have a feeling there's a storm coming.

I think you're right, Burdette.

Birds like Burdette are very sensitive

to changes in weather and the air, since they fly so much.

Whoa!

Okay, little leaf.

I can see you have things to do,

places to blow.

You know, Snook,

usually I love the wind.

Its breeze keeps you cool and the air smelling nice.

Makes it easier for birds to fly, too.

Well, I am going to go fly up

and see what the clouds look like.

Okay, but be careful, Burdette.

When the wind blows really hard, you have to be cautious.

Oh, Snook,

I'm always careful.

I know you are, Burdette.

Ta, ta, ta!

Hey, how are you doing flowers?

Do you mind the wind?

WARTZ: I don't like it at all.

Whoa.

Did you hear that?

I didn't know flowers could talk.

Hey, flower, say something else.

Like, what did you want me to say?

Oh, Wartz! It's you.

Oh, so my flowers don't talk.

Hmm, too bad.

What are you doing in my flowers?

I'm hiding.

Really? From what?

Should I be hiding, too?

From the storm.

Frogs are very sensitive to storms, you know.

We feel changes in the air, even teeny tiny ones.

Oh, that's true, Wartz.

And frogs are pretty good

at telling when the air gets dirty, like pollution.

Pollution?

Yeah, that's when the air

gets dirty and unhealthy.

Oh, I know what you mean.

Pollution.

Yeah, dirty air makes me cough and my eyes all red.

Uh, Wartz,

your eyes are already red.

I mean even redder, and sore, too.

Don't forget sore.

Well, the good thing is this storm will clean the air.

I know, Snook, but I'm worried about getting blown away.

Aw... Well, Wartz, you don't have to worry.

The storm's...

BURDETTE: The storm's coming!

That's for sure.

Oh, no.

What will I do?

I think we all ought to get prepared.

This is a big one.

Did you see the gray clouds Snook? Yep.

Well, no need to worry.

To be safe, I think we should gather everyone up

and go stay with Madge until the storm passes.

You know, have a little sleep over.

I like that idea.Okay!

Wartz, you go tell Madge she's gonna have some company.

Burdette, you gather up Bob

and I'll find Smooch and Winslow.

Okay!

I'm off to see Bob.

Bye, Snook!

Is! Is not!

So is.

So is not.

[ groans]

Hey, guys.

What are you up to?

Hi, Snook.

Hey, Snook.

Okay, smarty monkey.

Then you explain the wind.

Uh... uh... Hmm?

It's windy.

It's, uh, air that's windy.

So there.

Oh, it so is not.

Everyone knows that the wind is just a bunch

of giant bees somewhere flapping their wings.

SNOOK:Whoa.

That's a very creative idea, Winslow.

But it isn't true, right, Snook?

Right, Smooch.

That's not where the wind comes from.

Then what is it?

Oh! I know!

It's someone, somewhere,

blowing real hard-- or sneezing!

That's it!

The wind is a giant sneeze!

Yuck.

I don't think so.

Those are all interesting and imaginative ideas

about the wind, but actually, Smooch, in a way, was right.

In the simplest way-- wind is just the air moving fast.

See? I told you.

Boy, I hate when she's right and I'm not.

And wind happens when the air in one place in the big, big world

is very hot and the air in another place is cold.

Because the hot air rises,

the cold air flows in to take it's place.

And that's wind.

So it's got nothing to do with sneezing or blowing or bees?

[ chuckling]:Nope.

I don't think so.

Speaking of the wind...

Uh, Snook, is there going to be a storm?

Oh, yeah, that's why I'm here.

There is a storm coming,

and I thought we all might feel better if we stayed with Madge.

That sounds like a really good idea.

I like to be around grown ups

when there'sa storm.

Well, come on. Let's head down to Madge's.

Oh, Bob?

Bob?

I wonder where that anteater has gone.

BOB: Oh, hi, Burdette.

Well, not that I like to brag, but...

Bob.

I don't think tying yourself to the tree

is such a great idea, even if there is a storm.

But how am I going to keep myself from getting blown away?

And don't ask me about the ants.

I'm sure they'll be safe in their little ant nests.

I hope.

I'm just worried about me.

Well, actually that's why I'm here, Bob.

Snook sent me.

He thought we should all go down to Madge's

and have a nice sleepover until the storm leaves.

Oh.

Well, uh... ah, that's a good idea, Burdette.

Okay then, let's go.

Okay.

Uh, Burdette, one thing.

Yes, Bob?

Could you help untie me?

Oh, my, of course, Bob.

[ giggling]: Oh! Excellent.

Ah, yes, your frog senses are all in order, Wartz, my dear.

Yes, yes, it does seem like there will be a storm.

But what will happen to us when it storms?

Will we be okay?

Oh, yes, we will.

Storms only last for a little while.

Ah, then things get back to normal again.

Hey, Madge.

[ laughing]: Come on in!

Now, where are Bob and Burdette?

They'll be here any minute.

Well, come settle in, settle in.

Well, it's getting dark early.

I think the storm is here.

It's nice to be inside when it's storming.

Yep, it's great to be with your friends.

Come on, everyone, let's snuggle up.

[ chorus of snoring]

I can't believe how long it took them to go to sleep.

[ chuckling]: Well, that's what sleepovers

are all about-- not sleeping.

And Winslow, with his imaginative stories

about giant bees.

Really quite interesting.

Mm. It smells so fresh out here now.

I guess storms have to be good for something.

Yes, they clean up the air and wash the dirt away,

blow down new leaves and twigs for bedding,

blow fruit and nuts off the trees,

and there's nice, fresh rain water to drink again.

Oh, hey, little leaf.

Did you get through the storm okay? Hmm?
