the corner. Hold on a sec.

Hey, Roy. Yeah?

Roy, phone call for you. Phone
call in the office. It's your wife.

How're you coming, Chet?

Just about done here,
Cap. John'?

Yeah, about five more minutes.

Well, remember we got that pre-plan at

I'll talk to you later.

Okay. Bye-bye-

What's wrong?

Remember I told you we were
gonna have our house termited?

Yeah. Next week sometime,
right? No.

Now the...

The guy had a cancellation
or something,

and they're gonna have
to start this afternoon.

This afternoon?
Yeah, this afternoon.

That's awfully short notice,
isn't it? Yeah.

Don't they put
your house in a tent

and then pump methyl bromide
into it or something like that?

Yeah.

Well, Joanne's just gonna take the
kids over to her mother's, that's all.

Yeah. What're you gonna do?

I'm going to a motel.

Oh, well, now, that's stupid.
You can come and stay with me.

Oh, this is going to be for a
couple of days. Well, so what?

I mean, we spend one out of
three days together the way it is.

What's a couple more?

Oh, I don't want to put you out.

Oh.

I don't know. Me sleeping on the bed,
you sleeping on the sofa.

Oh, wait a minute.

I'm not sleeping on any sofa.

I mean, you're welcome to
come and stay with me but...

I'm not going to stay
on any crummy sofa.

I was trying to save her myself.

I kept at it

Yeah, well, are you
hurt anyplace else?

I was right in the middle
of the flames.

I risked my life.
You can tell that.

Yeah, right.
My name's Wayne Lyman.

I'm 29 years old.
I've been driving this...

Wayne, look, I'll take care of you as
soon as we finish with the girl, okay?

I tried to let her out. I thought
somebody ought to know.

JOHNNY: Right. We really
appreciate that. Thank you very much.

All right,
we're gonna have to watch her back here.

Try to keep it straight.

I'll get the middle

get her neck.

ROY: Up, UP-

ROY: Johnny, you wanna

All right,
I'll do it. I'll go with the ambulance.

Easy.

Look, what I was trying to tell you is
that I was driving the truck, you know...

[SIREN WAILING]

Watch it!

Are you okay?

[GROANING] My shoulder.
I think it's out.

Hal, how about you? You hurt?

No, I'm okay.
I just got a cut lip.

How you doing? You feeling okay?

Dispatch, this is Unit 4.
Come in, please.

HAL: I can't raise them.
This thing's busted.

All right. Look,
don't worry about it.

I already contacted
the hospital.

There should be an ambulance
on the way. I need help over here.

Right.

All right,
let's get him out of here.

Set him over there.

I'll get the legs. Easy.

Easy.

Easy.

Okay. Give me an 8 by 10
compress and some Kerlix, will you?

All right.

[SIREN WAILING]

I got some help coming.

What the hell happened?
You all right?

Yeah, I'm fine. You know,
you better check on them.

Georgie got a little shaken,
and I think she'll be okay.

[SIRENS WAILING]

Now those bruises may give you
a little pain, but I think you'll live.

Well, why don't you treat
somebody that's seriously hurt here.

You look all right to me.

Well, I'm not. Look.

How do you stand it? Oh,
you've been b*rned.

Yeah,
b*rned all my hair on my leg.

How's the woman? We'll know
more when the x-rays come in.

Incidentally, that man
you brought in,

his leg will be in a
cast for a few weeks,

plus he's going to have
some other problems.

What? He'd been drinking.

You mean I got to
put this on myself?

Joe,
those x-rays are ready. Right.

Mike,
there's another one on the way in. Coming.

Okay. Thanks.

Well, let's get back to work.

Yeah I...

Wait a minute here. I've got...

Wait a minute, I got...

[sum-nus]

You know, I don't think it's going to work,
my staying at your house.

Why don't you just come
right out and say it?

You don't want to
sleep on the sofa.

I don't want to
sleep on the sofa.

Okay, fine, you don't have to.

I've got an armchair.
That's even worse.

No. I'm gonna go to a motel.

No, listen, it converts.

Converts?

Yeah, converts into a bed.

Bigger than the ones we've got
back at the station, I can tell you.

Plus nobody
has ever slept in it.

Okay. I can't let Joanne know.

I need to get away
from the family for a while.

All the little problems and
chores have been getting me down.

Yeah, I know. I can't blame you.

Oh, we're gonna have a ball.

Hey, look now,
I need some peace and quiet. Relaxation.

Right. I guarantee it.
All right.

Hey, good morning. Hey,
how did you guys make out last night?

Did you have some fun
for yourselves?

That much fun, huh?

Look, you didn't have to
move out to a motel, you know.

Yes, I did. Things started to
quiet down. I told you it would.

I didn't mind so much
the first girl

pounding on the door
at 1:30 in the morning...

Oh, for heaven's sakes,
it was Laverne. Who is she?

She lives down the hall from me. She
always likes to drop in every now and then.

Drop in and cry.

She has these fights
with her boyfriend.

At 1:30 in the morning.

Can I help it? I mean,
they keep odd hours.

And the other girl comes barreling in,
right? That was about...

That's Laverne's
boyfriend's sister.

She comes in,
tries to straighten everything out.

You could've fooled me.

And then he comes in
at 2:30 in the morning.

Yeah, that was a bit unusual.

Edgar usually doesn't do
stuff like that.

And so, what?
A big fight occurred?

Big. Not really.

And I'm lying
right in the middle of it,

stuck in this convertible
armchair in my underwear.

Look, I was trying
to do you a favor, pally.

I appreciate that.

But, you know, your private life
is a little too uproarious for me.

Oh, yeah?

Oh, yeah? All right,
okay, all right.

Laverne's boyfriend's sister...

[JOHNNY MUTTERING]

I can even forgive the fact that
you didn't really go to sleep at 10:00.

I like to lie in bed
and read. And eat.

Well, that relaxes me.
Relaxes you?

Six times
to the refrigerator you went.

Six times. Bang, clatter,
clash. It was incredible.

I like something to nibble
on when... Nibble on?

Nibble on? For an hour and a half,
you nibble?

[SIGHING] I don't know
how Joanne stands it.

Oh, she does it, too.

He's been complaining of chest pains for,
like, an hour.

He's the one. This one here?

Yeah. Take it easy, Barry.

You'll be okay. It's probably
just indigestion or something.

Guys, I think
we ought to knock it off.

No, no, wait a minute. Just
keep your hands off the cards.

Okay, take it easy
now, all right.

Come on, Frank,
you've been trying to break this thing up

since 4:30 this morning.
You're the big winner.

You guys been
playing all night? Yeah.

Fourteen hours. Couple
of other guys were here,

but they had brains
enough to leave.

You have any history
of heart problems?

No, no.

You on any kind
of medication? No.

Rampart, this is Squad 51,
how do you read?

Keep an eye on Mr. Courtney
in 6, I don't like...

JOHNNY: Rampart base,
this is Rescue 51. How do you read?

We read you loud and clear.

Rampart,
we have a possible heart att*ck victim...

Approximately early 50s.

He's been complaining of
chest pains for over an hour.

Vital signs to follow.

[SIREN WAILING]

We're seeing multiple PVCs.

KELLY: 51, can you
send me a strip?

[BEEPING]

give him 5 milligrams MS IV.

I feel a lot better.

That pain's starting to go away.

Good.

[MACHINE BEEPING]

That should do it, 51.
Bring him on in.

Transporting immediately.

Okay, he's ready. Let's go.

Hey, what are you doing?

We're taking you
to the hospital.

Oh, no, no.
Wait till I finish this hand.

Oh, Barry, for crying out loud.

Look-it, I feel fine.

'Course you feel fine. That's the
medication. You're still a very sick man.

And that's why we're going
to take you to the hospital.

Listen, I know my rights.

Nobody's taking me anyplace
without my say-so.

Now, look, it's very important.

Wait until I finish the hand.

He's got to be moved.

The game's over, Barry.
Now look-it.

Just keep your hands off there.

Not till I get my last card.

Anybody lays a hand
on me, I'll sue.

Rampart, we have a delay.

What's the problem, 51?

[SIGHING] The patient is playing
poker. He's extremely agitated.

Says he won't go anywhere
without playing his hand.

Roy, PVCs.

Rampart, we're showing

His pulse is up to 130.

Rampart, pulse is 130.

lidocaine flow rate.

Additional 5 milligrams MS IV.

You play poker?

Yeah, sometimes.

You finish this hand
for me and I'll go.

Don't be stupid, Barry.

You heard what they said, Barry.

And you heard what I said.

If he finishes
the hand for me, I'll go.

What do I do?

Play the hand.

Rampart, patient says he'll
go if I play his hand for him.

I don't care what it takes,

Okay, I'll finish your hand.

Okay, then, I'll go.

Okay, he's ready. Let's go.

Hey.

Whatever you do, don't fold.

Ahem. Now...

[SIREN BLARING]

Well,
the game's seven card stud. Nothing wild.

You're sitting on a possible
straight flush, queen high.

The chips are 5s, 10s and 20s.

Dollars?

Dollars.

Dollars.

Last card. Down and dirty.

Nine's bet.

A hundred.

You fold?

Well, let's keep
the game honest.

I'll call that
and bump it a hundred.

It's up to you.

Yes.

Two hundred to play.

[MUMBLING]

How much are these?

Twenties.

[sum-nus]

Two, four...

Well, your poker playing
friend is doing just fine.

Then he won both ways, then.

Oh?

You're not going
to believe this,

but when I looked at
that man's hole cards,

I almost had
a heart att*ck myself.

He was bluffing.

He was bluffing.

There was nothing in comparison
of when you came in and said...

Now wait a second,
wait a minute. It's my turn.

You know, that convertible
armchair of yours

isn't one of the great things...

All right. What's wrong with
the convertible armchair?

I mean, it's brand new.
Nobody's ever slept in it.

That's right, nobody has.

Let me know if someday
somebody manages to do so.

Oh, and another thing.

Every time you roll around in that thing,
it snaps back at you.

Oh, it didn't.
