06x06 - Rules of Order

Post by bunniefuu »

Morning, Henry.

Rough night, huh?

You better believe it. He
moved three times yesterday.

Hey, did you eat
all the jelly filled?

Not me,
man. I'm going home to have steak and eggs.

Oh, hey!

Did you guys hear that
the chief is setting up

a paramedic advisory committee?

Guess he wants to get
some ideas from the ranks.

Oh, yeah? When did that happen?

Last couple of days, I guess.

I heard about it from
Burton and Lincoln.

They're on it, and so are
some of the guys from Eights.

They were talking
about it at the hospital.

Sounds like a good idea.

Yeah.

They already picked the guys?

I don't know, I guess so.

Hmm.

How'd they know who to pick?

[CHUCKLES] Who knows?
Probably the first 10 guys that said yes.

Hey, Charlie, your wife's
waiting outside.

Oh, hey, thanks, Mike.

Okay. See you later, Charlie.

Yeah.

Hey, Charlie. Yeah.

Do you know anybody
else they asked?

Well, they asked Burton
and Lincoln. That's all I know.

Hey, I gotta go.
I'll see you guys later.

Boy, that really...

You know,

sometimes I think it's just better
just to sit back and not care.

What's your problem?

What's my problem?

They form a committee.
Look, I have worked so hard,

giving my suggestions to the brass
to help this operation out. Right?

So they go and form a
committee just for that very thing.

[SCOFFS]

And then they don't
put us on the committee.

What are you talking about?

Didn't you hear
what Charlie just said?

Yeah. He said the chief is getting some
guys from Eights to form a committee.

Right. And we're not on it.

No.

Why don't you just relax?

He only said he knows some
guys who might be on the committee.

I mean, don't start yelling
till they hit you,

or until they start throwing
something at you, anyway.

Roy, if we were on the committee,
don't you think we'd know about it by now?

We would.

Man, I don't believe it.

But frankly, I don't care.

I don't want to be
on the committee.

I just don't care anymore.

I'll just give my ideas
to the guys at Eights.

Let them do all the work.

[SCOFFS] I don't care.

[ALARM SOUNDING]

DISPATCHER ON RADIO: Station 51,

in a tanker.

Use caution.

KELLY ON RADIO: Squad 51,
this is Rampart. Can you send me some EKG?

JOHNNY ON RADIO:

We're sending you a strip.
Vitals to follow.

Pulse is 160. The victim
is in extreme pain, Rampart.

[INTERCOM BEEPING]

This patient is in V-fib.

Rampart, we have lost the
victim's pulse. Beginning CPR.

[RAPID BEEPING]

We're defibrillating victim,

JOE ON RADIO: Administer 2 amps
sodium bicarb and insert an airway.

KELLY ON RADIO: Start an IV,

DIXIE: Squad 51, continue monitoring
Vitals and transport immediately.

JOHNNY ON RADIO:
We're on our way, Rampart.

[SIRENS WAILING]

JOHNNY: Squad 51 at scene.

DISPATCHER: 10-4, 51.

JOHNNY: Well, looks like we're
gonna have to go up after him.

I'll just get everything ready.

ROY: Yeah. Well,
at least he's hanging free of those lines.

JOHNNY: Yeah.

ROY: Let me go check
the other guy, all right?

JOHNNY: All right.

I'm sorry, sir,
but I really need this information.

Leave me alone! Can't you see
that I'm in no condition to discuss it!

Look what they've
done to my car.

And it wasn't even my fault.

Let's check you out,
sir, all right?

Oh,
it's about time someone got here. Yeah.

That's fine with me. I'll
be back in a few minutes.

You want to sit down
for a minute?

Well, if you'd just
take care of it, please.

I will,
if you just sit down. Thank you.

Those idiots don't even
know how to mark a work area.

Well, they're going to
pay for this. I promise you.

And you should arrest those men

for negligence, right now.

What's your name?

Hoover, Henry Hoover.

He looks pretty secure.

Mr. Hoover, are you dizzy or
have you been nauseous at all?

Look, I feel terrible.

And they are going
to pay for this.

Well, they had no flagman
at the intersection.

[GROANS] Would you be careful?

It does hurt, you know.

It's just an abrasion on your
head. There's nothing serious there.

Well, I'm certain that you're
not qualified to make judgments

as to what is and
what is not serious.

Just help, would you,
please? Okay.

I'll dress it up for you and we'll take
you into Rampart General Hospital

and they can give you
a thorough going over.

All right.

You sure you're not hurt now?

No, no. I'm okay.
But how about Slim?

Can't you get him down? Yeah,
we're working on it.

We'll take you into Rampart.
Let them check you out.

Okay.

Roy, the other crewman
just has some bruises on him.

We've got two
ambulances coming in.

We'll put these two in
one and him in the other.

All right.

Well, you look okay.

Would you fix this so I
can get my glasses on?

Hey, Roy. We're gonna
need a cervical collar.

He's got something
obstructing his airway.

I don't quite know what it is.

Okay. I'll be right with you.

Where are you going? I need your help,
and you're ignoring me.

Well, I've got a man up there.
They'll take good care of you.

Damn!

[GROANS]

I'm gonna drop my line.

You gonna need a Stokes?

No, I don't think so.

I think we can get him down
with just ropes.

ROY: All right.

Want to hold these for me?

ROY: What do you need?

Look, if you can steady him,

I'll go up above
and loop the line.

All right. Watch it.
This pole's ready to go.

Yeah, I know.

[CREAKING]

Whoa!

JOHNNY: Roy...

Try not to move around
so fast, okay?

This added weight's
really shaking it up.

Vince,
can you get the drug box and the Biophone?

I'll get the back board.

Okay, let's send that belt up.

He's still breathing.

All right.

[GRUNTS] All right.

Okay. He's secured.

Wanna lift him up a little?

ROY: Little more.

Little more. Right
there. Hold it.

Okay. Let's lower him down.

[SIREN WAILING]

Did you get the pulse? Yeah,
it's 130.

Pupils are equal and reactive.

Okay, I'll grab a BP.

Does it sound like an
obstruction to you? Yeah.

Roy, respirations
are 30 and shallow.

Rampart, this is Squad 51.

JOE ON RADIO: Go ahead, 51.

Rampart, we have a male,
age approximately 40.

He has injuries
sustained in a fall.

Uh, has an upper airway
obstruction with respiratory difficulties.

The pulse is 130.
Respirations are 30 and shallow.

I suspect a possible
fracture of the larynx.

We're applying positive pressure
ventilation. Standby for BP.

JOHNNY: 140 over 90.

Rampart, pupils are
equal and reactive,

and the BP is 140 over 90.

Start an IV of D5W.

Transport as soon as possible.

Continue monitoring the airway,
and we'll stand by.

ROY: 10-4, Rampart.

Dix, you want to
come in here a moment?

How are you doing? I'm okay.

I think I just twisted my elbow.

Rampart, this is Squad 51.

JOE: Go ahead, 51.

Rampart, the oral airway
is in place,

but the obstruction
is increasing.

We've established the IV.
We got a new set of vitals here.

BP is 140 over 90.
The pulse is up to 140.

Respirations are 35
with obstruction.

What is your ETA, 51?

Our ETA is about six minutes.

victim immediately.

Monitor closely.

We're gonna have to do a trach.

I'll get it set up.

Dr. Brackett, please.

Cap, I guess we both
better go in with him.

It's kind of critical
that airway.

Okay. We'll send the other
two in the other ambulance.

Chet, you follow
along in the squad.

Pick you up at the hospital.

All right. Can you get these
helmets and belts and everything?

Here, take it. Okay.

Got it.

Okay, you got the O2,
Marco? Yeah.

If you'll just climb
in the ambulance, sir,

we'll have you
taken care of right away.

Oh, okay.

Thank you.

Captain,
when am I going to get some attention?

I've been here
for hours with no help.

Well, now, sir,
if you'll get in the ambulance,

we'll take you to Rampart Hospital,
have you checked out.

Well, it's about time.

Sir, we had a critically hurt man
here and we were doing our best.

Vince, maybe you better
ride along with those two.

All right. Fine. That way I
can get my report finished.

Hey,
Jimmy. I'm going on to Rampart. Jimmy?

I'm going on to
Rampart. Bring the car.

This whole thing would
have been avoided

if you people had known
what you were doing

when you blocked
that intersection.

You just sent my partner to the hospital,
and I don't feel too good myself.

You were speeding and you know it,
so shut up.

You're in deep trouble.
Don't make it any worse.

Speeding? Speeding? Yes. Right.

Your truck was
incorrectly parked.

And as for that man...

Why, I think he must have
wanted insurance or something.

Why, he didn't even fall
until I was out of the car.

Oh, you cement head...

All right. Hold it.
Now just take it easy.

Now look, I still got to get
some information for my report.

Well, he's lying.

His car knocked Slim
off the pole.

I want it perfectly clear
that I admit nothing.

I admit nothing.

And I want you as a
witness that I admit nothing.

All right. Now, look. Let's just
start from the beginning, okay?

People seem to think because
you have a little money these days

that they can take
advantage of you.

Right. Now, let's
start all over. Okay?

May I have your name, please?

Hoover. Henry Hoover.

WOMAN ON PA:
Dr. Adler wanted in surgery.

Room 4. Dr. Baker,
report to surgery.

Uh, the obstruction to his
airway has gotten worse

since we started treating him.

We can't find any medical
history on him at all.

Okay. Well, we'll take
care of him from here.

Okay.

What's the matter? Ls
the creosote burning you?

Yeah. You know,
we better wash ourselves off.

I don't know what's the matter
with you. It's not burning me any.

ROY: Squad 51 available.

DISPATCHER: Squad 51.

He's not aerating much.

He's retracting. Laryngoscope.

Help me get his head down.

Let's see if we can
get this tube down.

Have the trach setup ready.

That airway may obstruct
when this gets down.

His obstruction,
the larynx must have completely collapsed.

[SLIM GASPING]

He's completely obstructed.

We've gonna have to
do a trach, Joe.

Let's move it if we're
gonna save this man.

Give me some of that.

Scalpel.

Suction, Kel. Suction.

More suction.

Retract that tissue.

Retractor.

I was right.

The larynx is
completely collapsed.

Trach tube.

Okay.

Dix, we're gonna have to get him
upstairs to get this trachea repaired.

As soon as he's stabilized,
I want x-rays, blood gasses,

and type and
cross for two units.

Also get an EKG. I wanna
see what his heart looks like.

This is Miss McCall, Room 4.

WOMAN ON PA:
Dr. Roberto Elmanza.

Dr. Roberto Elmanza.

Hey, Dix, how is he?
Okay for now.

Okay.

Hi, guys.

You want a little
ointment for your arm?

Nah. Uh-uh. Don't need it.

What's this?

BRICE: Just checking
the drug box.

JOHNNY: What for?

We got a run. I like to be
sure everything is in order.

That's for sure.

We've had three runs today, that's
the fifth time he's checked that box.

Four times, Bob.

But, you know, it's something we
should talk about in the committee.

It's possible that
I'm overcautious.

Yeah. What committee?

Paramedic advisory committee.

You guys are on
that committee, too?

Sure. Aren't you?

No. I mean... Yeah, maybe.

I don't know. We haven't heard.

[STAMMERING] Have they
already made the appointments?

I think the word
went out yesterday.

Well, congratulations.

Oh, yeah. It's really
gonna be a thrill.

Hell» you want my spot?

No. You guys can have it.

I don't want it.

I'm sure the chief has
picked exactly who he wants.

That's what I'm afraid of.

Maybe it wasn't a mistake.

Hey, John.

If you and Roy are interested
in making some suggestions,

why don't you tell Bob and I,

and we'll pass the word
along to the committee.

We're supposed to
represent everyone. Yeah.

Yeah. Right. That's a
pretty good idea. Right?

That's a pretty good idea. Bob, throw
that away for me, will you? See you later.

Pass me the bicarb, Bob.

JOHNNY: I don't believe it.

I really can't believe it.

Didn't I tell you they'd
picked the committee?

Didn't I? Didn't
I tell you that?

And Brice.

Can you believe that guy?

I don't believe him.

Tell me about it.

I'm the one that had to work with that guy
for two weeks when you were sick, remember?

I really don't know
how you did it either.

I mean, can you imagine actually
going up to the committee and

talking about how many times a
paramedic should check his drug box?

I don't think it's
worth getting upset over.

I mean, think about it.

Would you really want to be
on a committee with Brice?

Brice.

Think about it.

No. I wouldn't.

[CHUCKLES] I really wouldn't.

Kind of glad I'm not on
that committee with Brice.

Can you believe it?

[sums]

I wonder who else is
on that committee.

Let's see. Now, there's
Belliveau, Brice...

[ENGINE STARTING]

Who else did Dwyer say
was on the committee?

I couldn't believe that guy.

I mean, he was
actually coming on

like he was our representative
to the United Nations.

Forget it, will you?

Well, didn't you hear
what he said?

Yeah. I heard him. I heard him.

Well, didn't it bother you?

No. I mean, not as much as
being on the committee with Brice.

Look, that's beside
the point. The point is...

Hey, Cap. The point is,
is that they should let

the people on the committee
that want to be on the committee.

The people that are interested.

Well,
I just got a call from headquarters,

and they want to know if
you two would be interested in

being on the paramedic
advisory committee.

Well, I'm not so sure I want to.

JOHNNY: [CHUCKLES] Yeah. You know,
it's really kind of incredible.

I mean, I got so excited
about this meeting,

I spent half the night up
just kind of thinking about

some ideas I'd like to
present to the meeting.

I've jotted some down here.

Would you like to
take a look at them?

Maybe I'll wait
till the meeting.

You know what's really kind of incredible
about this whole committee meeting?

It's the fact that now
we get to participate.

We get to have a little input
on some of the decisions.

It's very important to our work. I feel,
anyway.

I mean, don't you?

You know what's really gonna
be kind of incredible, too?

It's that it's really gonna be
good for the brass, you know.

They've got a different
perspective, you know.

They really do. Their perspective
is from up above, you know.

And they really fail to see
some of the details of our work,

that's really important
to our work, anyway.

Yeah. You know.

I think it really
comes down to this.

It's really...
It's really up to us.

We're only as good
as our members.

Yeah. That's what I'm afraid of.

Oh? You mean Brice.

Yeah. Him, too.

Yeah. Well,
I wouldn't worry too much about Brice.

I think I've got
that man under control.

Yep. The whole idea is just to
be as positive as we possibly can.

I wouldn't worry about anything.

Everything is gonna be fine.

[ALARM SOUNDING]

That's what I'm afraid of.

DISPATCHER ON RADIO: Squad 51.
Man injured. 10265 West Cedar Avenue.

Cross street, Lincoln.
Ambulance is responding.

Time out, 0817.

Squad 51. KMG 365.

[SIRENS WAILING]

DISPATCHER: Squad 51, cancel.

JOHNNY: Squad 51.

So I'll probably just conclude
with that. What do you think?

Well, sounds like you've
got some good ideas.

You ought to bring them up.

You know, one thing bothers me,
though. One thing really worries me.

Uh, listen. If I talk too
much... I'm not planning to.

I don't want to. But if I do,
will you just nudge me?

Nudge you?

Yeah, nudge me. You know,
just nudge me.

You think it will
work this time?

I practically broke your ribs
at the last MICU class.

Yeah, well, that was different.

I mean, that guy had
his facts all wrong.

Can you imagine him getting
out in front of 40 paramedics and...

Look, we're late.
Why don't we get going?

The committee?

Oh, yeah. Come on. We're late.

Now, I think we'll all agree that there's
first rate information in this article.

But how many of us
read it before today?

Exactly my...

Hey. Roy, John...

We were just reading this article
while we were waiting for you.

I can fill you in on it later.

All right. I hope
we're not too late.

No. Why don't we go
ahead with the meeting?

All right, uh...

Well, uh, Johnny's
got all the ideas.

I'm glad this
meeting's taking place

because I've heard nothing
else for the last week.

That's all that's
been on his mind.

Why don't you go ahead
and kick it off?

Okay. Well... Look,
I'm sure we all know what the problems are.

But what I'd like to do,
if it's okay with you guys,

is just throw out
a couple of ideas.

And... And then we can
talk about it, if you like.

First thing I'd like
to talk about is...

John?

What?

I think it's important
that we organize ourselves

before we get down to
the business of the meeting.

Organize ourselves?

Yes. I move we conduct ourselves
according to standard procedure

as governed by
Robert's Rules of Order.

Robert's Rules of Order?

[STAMMERS]
Robert's Rules of Order?

That's kind of formal, isn't it?

I thought we were just going
to kick this thing around.

Is there a second
for the motion?

[STAMMERS] What...
Now wait a minute, Brice.

Just hang on for a second.

Now look, we're all
adults around here.

I'm sure we can just throw
out some ideas and talk about it.

And besides, who is Roberts?

General Henry M. Robert,
US Army.

Army?

The US Senate is
composed of adults

and they conduct themselves
according to Robert's Rules of Order.

[STAMMERS] Well,
I'm sure they are.

But we're not the US Senate.

The point is that we're a group
of people with differing ideas

who all need to be heard
in an orderly fashion.

It's very simple.

JOHNNY: Well,
it doesn't sound simple to me.

It sounds
very complicated to me.

It's very straightforward. Why
don't we just get on with it?

Is there a second
for the motion?

[sums]

All right, fine. Go ahead.

BRICE: Good. It's been
moved and seconded... What?

That the paramedic advisory
committee conduct itself

according to Robert's
Rules of Order.

Is there any discussion
of the motion?

Wait a minute.
Did I just second that?

Yeah. Yeah, you sure did.

Well, I didn't mean to.

Well... All those in favor of the
motion signify by raising your right hand.

BRICE: Belliveau?

Huh? Oh.

DeSoto?

I abstain.

Good. It's been moved,
seconded and passed,

with fireman DeSoto abstaining,

that the paramedic advisory
committee conduct itself

according to Robert's
Rules of Order.

Good.

The next order of business
is the selection of a chairman.

Are there any nominations?

You should run for chairman.

Why?

Why? You've been
talking about it all week.

You're the one
who should be running.

All right. Why
don't you nominate me?

I do have some experience
with parliamentary procedure,

and I can serve as parliamentarian,
as well.

Is there a second
for the motion?

[SIGHS] Yeah.

Fellows, I just want
to get home. I second it.

Good.

All those in favor signify
by raising their right hand.

Excellent.

Well, he talked so fast I
could hardly even understand

what he was saying
half the time.

DIXIE: Well,
my two favorite committee men.

Don't talk about it.

Well, Brice was just in here.
He was all excited about it.

Oh,
yeah? He tell you about the first meeting?

Well, he said you
made a great start.

Yeah. A great start.

Yeah, a real great start.

I don't want to be a real
complainer or anything,

but I'm sure he's
a fine paramedic

and he's real nice
to his mother and all.

But I think he thinks we've got a
constitutional convention going here.

Parliamentary procedure has its place,
you know, but...

Well, why don't you
find out more about it?

Well, what's the point in that?

It would only confuse matters.

Now the only thing
we're gonna have to do

is just let him do his own thing

and then maybe,
maybe in the long run

we might get around
to some real work.

See you later.

Do you have anything
for a man in his condition?

I think it's terminal.

[PHONE RINGING]

Yes?

Have you paged Dr. Brackett?

Okay. I'm on my way.

Hey, easy. Hey, come on,
you chump. You had your breakfast.

Here.

CHET: Let's see.

What's a three-letter word for "move
slowly"? You ought to know that.

[EXCLAIMS] Gage,
what'd you put in this, soap?

Yeah, doesn't everybody?

[CHUCKLES] I don't blame you.

I've got it.

You got what?

I've got a way to make the
committee work and still use the rules.

What? Yeah.

Yeah, listen to this. Uh...

[STAMMERS] "When the
assembly wishes to do something"

"that cannot be done
without violating its own rules"

"and yet it is not in conflict
with its constitution or by-laws..."

Wait a minute. Wait a minute.
We don't have a constitution.

Roy, don't bring
that up to Brice.

He'll want to write
a constitution,

then we'll have to have one
so we can't violate it.

Will you just... Will
you just wait and listen?

[ALARM SOUNDING]

DISPATCHER ON RADIO:
Engine 113, Station 51.

[STAMMERS] I'll tell
you about it on the way.

Unknown type rescue
at 3120 South Century.

Cross street Burgess.
Ambulance is responding.

Time out, 0830.

STANLEY: Station 51. KMG 365.

[SIRENS WAILING]

First of all, I'd like to know
what you were doing here.

Well, we figured
since it was a Sunday,

we wouldn't be bothering anyone.

What happened? Oh,
hi. I'm the press agent here.

Yeah, well,
they wrote a book on rock climbing

and figured doing this building

would be a great
publicity stunt.

[CHUCKLES] Can you believe it?

I called every TV station and paper
in town, and nobody showed up.

Of course, I'm kind of glad now.

Yeah, yeah. But what happened?

Uh, Cap...

The girl yelled down that
one of the wedges pulled lose.

The guy must have taken
a pretty bad fall

because he hasn't moved
since I got here.

[CHUCKLES] Some climbers, huh?

JOHNNY: Man, it's
gonna be real mean.

The one on top's moving.

I don't see the one
on the bottom moving.

LA Engine 51,
respond Truck 127 to our location.

When 116s get here,
you bring them up top.

Right, Captain.

DISPATCHER ON RADIO:
Truck 127...

Okay, got a snorkel coming in.

Now, as I understand it,
the guy down below is unconscious.

We can never get at him
from a window,

so we're gonna have to
go over the top.

Okay. Let's go.

JOHNNY: You know, we're gonna
have a little trouble getting him down.

STANLEY: I think you're right.

Got 116s coming
for some more manpower.

Scotty, can we borrow you, pal?

[PEOPLE CHATTERING]

Marco,
stand by that standpipe down there

till I see if we got something
to secure a rope with.

STANLEY: We got some
scaffolding rings up here.

I'll have Kelly
throw you a line.

Chet, we got some
scaffolding rings up here.

Throw Marco down a line.

We'll rig us a bridle here.

JOHNNY: Are you secure?

Yeah, I'm okay.
I just b*rned my hands.

It's Rog that's hurt.

ROY: Uh, well... I don't know.

The lady's all right,
but I can't tell about the man.

STANLEY: I don't think we got
enough rope to get down there.

John, we'll lower you down
first and you can check them out.

Roy,
you can go down there after him

as soon as we get
enough manpower.

ROY: Okay.

JOHNNY: Okay. Hey, listen. We're
gonna be down in just a second.

We're just gonna get set up.

Hang on, okay? Okay.

[SIREN WAILING]

CHET: Cap,
we need your men on the roof for manpower.

Tom, move your engine.
We've got a snorkel coming in.

Can you give me a little slack?

Come on, straight on that.
Yeah, right.

Okay, here we go.

Okay. All right. Take it out.

All right, now
don't pull me back.

Okay, give me a little slack now,
give me a little slack.

All right. Give me some.

Okay, now. Give me some
more. I gotta slip it over my head.

All right-♪?

All right,
we're coming down okay?

WOMAN: Okay.

Are you sure you're okay
besides your hands?

I'm okay. You gotta
get to Rog. He's hurt.

All right. Now look,
I don't want you to worry about him.

We're gonna get you up,
then we're gonna get him up, okay?

All right,
I'm going to try to...

I'm gonna try to
hook you off here...

Okay. With these two carabiners.

All right.

[SIREN WAILING]

All right. Take her up.

[WOMAN GRUNTS]

JOHNNY: All right.
Whoa! Hold it.

Bring me up a bit.
Whoa! Hold it.

[PANTING]

Hey, I'm gonna need
a cervical collar.

ROY: A little lower.

All right. Hold it.

How does he look?

Well, hanging here
isn't helping him.

There's a cut on his head.

It doesn't look too good either.

He's having a lot
of problems breathing.

His right eye is more dilated.

You know, we're just going to
have to get him down from here.

We can't work on him up here.

Here's the collar.

Okay.

Well,
that snorkel isn't going to reach up here.

Look,
why don't we have them lower me down, okay,

and then we can lower
him down on your hook.

And then they can haul
you back up. All right?

Okay, sounds good to me.

Okay, Cap-

Want to lower me down
to the snorkel?

See you later. Yeah.

[GRUNTS]

All right.
Tighten up on this one.

Pick me up a little more.

Little more.

Okay.

Okay, you got him.

Take him down.

[GRUNTING]

Got him?

ROY: Okay.

All right. I'm letting him go.

All right. Get me out of here.

[SIREN WAILING]

I don't believe that guy.

He just gets a good
bop on the head.

I think he's going to recover
from this one faster than I do.

Yeah. That's the worst
one I've been on in a while.

Yeah, but not near as bad as
the meeting we got coming up.

Oh,
I don't think it's gonna be that bad.

I think it'll be kind of fine.

Are you kidding me?

No. No, I've got a plan.

Oh, yeah? Well, what is it?

Well, I've been doing a little bit
of thinking about the committee,

a little bit of reading, too.

I'll tell you a little bit
about it on the way in.

[STAMMERS] What...

Hi, guys.

Ah, good.

Gage and DeSoto are here
so we can get started.

I'm pretty familiar with the
necessary rules of procedure,

but I brought this copy
of the Rules of Order

so you can all have
a chance to check it

and become familiar with it.

I'll have this
after the meeting.

Oh, good.

Okay,
uh... We decided last meeting

to wait until this week
to continue

with the organization
of the committee.

We should move on to
nominations for secretary.

Are there any... Roy?

Um...

I...

I move that we
suspend the rules.

And I second that motion.

[LAUGHING]

No, uh...

[STAMMERS] No,
that's out of order.

That's...
We were talking about...

We were talking
about nominations.

It's Article 4 in there,
Paragraph 22.

Uh...

I think... I'm sure
you're out of order.

Uh... And that
motion now has been,

you know, moved and seconded.

So maybe you want
to call a question?

Yeah.

No, no, no. No.

You want me
to call the question?

Yeah, yeah, sure.

No.

Brice.

Brice?

[STAMMERS] What was
that... What was that article?

Oh, we have a motion, right.

We have a motion
to suspend the...

"The motion to suspend
the rules."

All those in favor...

Signify by...

"Everyone in favor..."

Raise their right hand, right?

"Raise their right hand."

JOHNNY: Right?

Right hand, Bob.

Brice, look. Brice?

[STAMMERS] Yeah, just...

Look, look.

All those opposed?

No.

[STAMMERS] You're out of order.

Well, looks like to me
the "ayes" have it.

Hey, what do you say
we get started, huh?

All right, so...

Okay, well...
Look, I've got a...

Okay,
I relinquish the floor to my partner Roy.

Oh, no. You go ahead.
