Leo: We live in a big beautiful world.

Leo: I'm Leo.

Andy: I'm Andy

Carmen: And I'm Carmen

Carmen: Our parents work in a circus

that travels all around the world.

And we travel with them.

Andy: So we never know where in the world we will end up next

(train whistling)

Carmen: But wherever we go, we know that Luna The Moon

will be there with us.

Andy: The Potato King.

Andy: I love this city!

Andy: Just look at those mountains!

They're so beautiful,

wouldn't you say so, Space Yummies?

(crunch)

(tummy grumbles)

Andy: But I don't think I can live on

Space Yummies for long.

There must be some amazing food in this beautiful city!

Daaad!

Andy: Can I have some amazing lunch food from

this beautiful place we're in, pleeaaasee?

Sam: Ohhh! Andy.

Uhh, yes, yes, of course. Check the fridge.

Andy: Oh no...

Sam: My wonderful scalloped potatoes!

Andy: Potatoes? How boring.

(crunch)

Sam: Doesn't that sound yummy, Andy?

Andy?

Andy: Sheesh, that was a close one.

Andy: Leo? Huh- woahh- Owaaah-

gah!

Leo/Carmen: Hey, Andy!

Andy: Ugh! You guys are doing a potato thing too?

I just barely dodged my dad's boring potato thing.

Carmen: Boring? Potatoes aren't boring.

Andy: I want something exciting.

Like some special local food.

Can we find some of that?

Carmen: Well, okay... but first we should

find out where we are.

Magic Globe: Hiya, kids!

Magic Globe: Today we're in the city of Cusco

in the country of Peru.

Magic Globe: Set high in the mountains,

the people here enjoy art, music,

and world-famous food!

Andy: Now that's what I'm talkin' about!

Tell me more about that famous local food, eh, Magic Globe?

Magic Globe: Of course, Andy!

Cusco is the birthplace of a very special food...

the potato!

Andy: The what?

Magic Globe: (giggles) The potato, Andy!

A delicious food that is cherished all around the world.

Andy: The potato comes from Peru?

Magic Globe: Yes indeed, it originated right here

in the Andes Mountains.

Have a great time in Peru!

Andy/Carmen/Leo: Thanks, Magic Globe!

Leo: Yeah, Andy, you wanted special food

from this amazing place

and it looks like that food is po-tay...

Uhh, Andy?

Carmen: We should probably go find him.

Andy: Must find local good food!

Leo: Andy!

Carmen: Wait up, Andy!

Luna: Yeah! Slow down, buddy!

Luna: Woooaahhh!

Luna: Woooaahhh!

Luna: Woooaahhh!

Luna: Hiya, friends.

Leo/Carmen: Luna!

Andy: Luna?

Carmen: ♪ Lunaaaa, come and play! ♪

Leo: ♪ Luna's here, what do ya say! ♪

Andy: ♪ Lunaaa, bright as day! ♪

Andy/Carmen/Leo: ♪ Show us the world, lead the way! ♪

Luna: Why so glum, Andy-man?

Andy: I just want some yummy food from this

cool city we're in!

But, so far, no luck.

Luna: Aw, don't get down, Andy.

There's tons of amazing food here in Cusco, Peru.

In fact, I think I can hook you up with some.

I know a guy!

Andy: Yesss!

Luna: Check it out... he lives way up there,

high in the Andes Mountains.

He's a master of Peru's most cherished food.

He's such an expert, some even call him a "King".

Andy: (gasps) A foood...kiiing?

Luna: (grunting)

Whew.

(clears throat) Ahemmmm...

Leo: Are we...there yet?

Luna: Let's see... if I'm not mistaken...

according to my calculations...

we're here!

Leo/Carmen: Wow! Cool!

Andy: Where's the castle?

Luna: Come on, shall we knock?

(knock knock) Lucio: Come in!

Luna: Okay, everyone... say hello to my good friend, Lucio.

Or as some people call him...

Theee potatoo kingg!

Lucio: Potatoes, anyone?

Andy: (sigh)

(thud)

Luna/Carmen/Leo: Hi, Lucio!

Carmen: It's good to meet you, Lucio!

Andy: Ugh! The food king, is just a potato king?

Lucio: (chuckles) King?

No no, not a real king,

that's just what my friends call me.

Luna; My friends are looking for great Peruvian food, Lucio.

Lucio: Oh, haha, well I have plenty of that!

Come inside, make yourselves at home.

Luna: (grunting) (crash)

...I'm okay!

Lucio: Aren't you coming in, Andy?

Andy: Eh, no thanks...

I don't get too excited about

boring old potatoes...

Lucio: Oh, I see. if you come inside,

maybe I can change your...

Lucio: Hmm... where'd he go?

Andy: Potatoes... what's the big deal?

They're just brown and lumpy...

and-and potato-y...

Majestic Voice: Tee-Hee...

Andy: Wha--what-was-that?

Voice: Tee-hee-hee! Andy: Whoa!

Andy: (phew)

Majestic Voice: Be not afraid, young frog boy.

Feel the magic of the Andes Mountains,

and bask in the royal glow of...

the potato king!

Andy: (sigh) I know it's you Luna.

I can see the string!

Luna: Oh, come on, Andy.

Use your imagination.

Luna: Imagination....

Andy: Okay...

(grunting)

Huh?

Potato King: Ah! There. That's much better.

Andy:(gasp) You're the Potato King?

You don't even look like a potato.

At least not any potato I've ever met.

Potato King: Ahh, Andy... Yes, and I heard you think

potatoes are boring?

Andy: Yes, no offense, but...

Potato King: Then you know little of the potato, young boy.

Do you really think people would still be enjoying potatoes

after thousands of years here in the Andes Mountains

if they were boring?

Andy: Well, I guess not.

Potato King: For starters, potatoes are more

than those brown, oval ones you are used to.

Potatoes come in a vast assortment of colors,

shapes and sizes!

Andy: Those are potatoes?

Potato King: Hmmm...Yes and they are oh-so delicious,

and cooked with wonderful herbs and spices

that make the flavors explode!

Andy: Exploding flavors, like Space Yummies?

Potato King: Oh, silly frog boy.

Space Yummies are potatoes! Potato chips!

Andy: What? They're not boring at all!

Potato King: And another thing that is not boring

about potatoes, is that, get this...

they're a kind of plant called a tuber

and they grow underground!

Andy: Wow!

I even love the word tuber!

And underground?

That's how Lucio grows them?

Potato King: Yes! Yes, frog boy!

For the cool taste of Peru,

you need look no further than the potato!

Andy: I think I'm getting it!

(pan flute/guitar playing) ♪♪

Andy: ♪ It's like the great Potato King ♪

♪ appears before your eyes ♪

Andy: ♪ And fluffy french fry rainbows ♪

♪ fill potato-tufted skies ♪

Potato King: ♪ For in these Andes Mountains ♪

♪ the first potatoes grew. ♪

Potato King: ♪ Then they sailed across the ocean ♪

♪ to hungry folks like you. ♪

Potato King: ♪ O colorful potato, ♪

♪ loved around the world, ♪

Potato King: ♪ Satisfy the taste buds ♪

♪ of every boy and girl... ♪

Andy: ♪ Oh great Potato King... ♪

♪ Tell us you are real...♪

Potato King: ♪ Four thousand different kinds, ♪

♪ a million yummy meals. ♪

Potato King: ♪ Can you feel delicious dishes everywhere...♪

♪ as true potato magic fills the air. ♪

♪♪

Andy: Woo! Yeah!

That was awesome!

I love potatoes!

Potato King: I knew you'd come around

to the joys of the tasty tuber.

Now, I'm afraid I must be on my potato way.

Andy: I'll miss you, Potato King.

Potato King: Likewise, Andy. But now, go forth and frolic

in the wonderful world of potatoes!

(zing)

Andy: There goes one cool potato.

Luna: If you thought the Potato King

from your imagination was cool,

check out the real Potato King.

Andy: (gasps) Lucio: Delightfully delicious

potato dishes anyone?

Andy: Lucio!

Yeah, I guess he is pretty cool.

Andy: Lucio, you were right,

potatoes are pretty great.

Sorry, I didn't realize it sooner...

Lucio: That's okay, Andy.

I'm glad you took the time to explore

the wonderful world of potatoes.

Leo: You should come back to the Circo with us, Lucio.

If we leave now, we'll make it back in time for dinner!

Lucio: I'd love to!

And I will bring the potato dishes we made together!

Andy: Yay, potatoes!

(tummy rumbling) And what's that?

My stomach says it's still hungry!

Let's go!

Circo Folk: (munching)

Sam: Dee-licious! I love the potatoes!

I love them fried, I love them boiled,

I love them with cheese.

Andy: (munching) Thanks for helping me

appreciate potatoes guys...

(munch munch munch)

If it weren't for you and the Potato King...

I would have missed out on all this local deliciousness!

(munch)

Leo: No problem, Andy!

Carmen: We're just glad you found

your special Peruvian food!

Lucio: And don't forget, Andy,

the potato is just one of many

foods Peru has to offer!

Although it is a very special one.

(splat)

Luna: Sorry guys.

I didn't mean to drop mashed potatoes on you from the sky!

Andy: That's okay, Luna...

it's just more for me to eat!

Thank you for showing me around Cusco.

It's so amazing, I don't wanna leave!

I wish I could learn more stuff

about all of Peru's other great foods!

Luna: There's always more to learn

and yummy food to eat

in any city we visit, Andy.

But as I am quite sure you know...

there's always tomorrow!

Carmen: The Stolen Smell.

Carmen: Hi, it's Carmen with a story from Peru.

One day, a baker noticed a man enjoying the delicious

smell of his fresh-baked bread <span> .

The baker asked if he'd like to buy a loaf

so he could taste it, but the man said no,

he was happy just to smell it!

Carmen: Well, that made the baker mad!

This man was getting lots of happiness

from his delicious bread

without even paying for it!

It didn't seem fair!

Carmen: So, he had an idea:

"Okay, that's it! No more free smells!

You must pay me for smelling my bread!"

Carmen: Well, the man had never even heard of paying for smells!

Carmen: He thought for a moment,

and then reached deep into his pocket.

He pulled out a few coins and shook them in his hand.

(coins jingling)

Carmen: "How do you like that sound?" asked the man.

"I like that sound very much indeed!" said the baker.

Carmen: "Well, congratulations,"

said the man with a smile.

"Now you have been paid.

I gave you the sound of my money

for the smell of your bread."

Carmen: And from that day forward, they were friends.

Carmen: The Charango kid.

Andy: Wow, I love your new song, Carmen!

Carmen: Thanks guys, I really want to play it perfectly,

so I've been practicing for weeks!

Carmen: My friend Sisa and I are performing a duet,

Sisa on her flute, called the Siku,

and me on my beautiful Spanish guitar.

We're playing at the music festival today!

Andy: Hold on, did someone say... music festival?

Carmen: Yes, it's happening right here in...

(gasp) Wait!

We already know where we are,

but do you wanna play a trick on the Magic Globe?

Andy: Yeah!

(snicker, giggle)

Carmen: Oh, Magic Glooooobe,

could you tell us where we are in the world today!?

(laughs)

Magic Globe: I'd be happy to, Carmen!

Today we are in the city of--

Carmen/Andy/Leo: Cusco!

Magic Globe: Oh... you already knew that!?

Carmen/Andy/Leo: (laughing)

Yeeeesss!

Magic Globe: Oh... well, did you know that Cucso is

in the beautiful country of--

Carmen/Andy/Leo: Peruuu!

Carmen/Andy/Leo: Hahahahaha!

Leo: We already knew that too, Magic Globe!

Magic Globe: Aww, c'mon guys...

I've been waiting for this all day...

Hm! Well I suppose you also know that the people of Cusco

speak the languages of Spanish and Quechua

and that Cusco has been here for hundreds of years

and was the main city of the Inca Empire...

Andy: Uhhhhhh.

Carmen: I... did not know that.

Magic Globe: Oh! Well then,

here's something else you might find interesting:

Peruvians love music

and an important part of their culture

is playing music together with friends!

They play beautiful local instruments

like the Siku, a kind of flute.

and the tarango, which is similar to a guitar

but smaller, and with more strings.

Carmen: Thanks for all the great info, Magic Globe.

Sorry we played a trick on you!

Magic Globe: No worries, kids.

Have fun in Cusco!

Maria: Carmen... time to pack up.

Luna and Sisa will be here any minute.

Carmen: Okay, Mama!

(honking)

Sisa: Hi, Carmen!

Carmen: Sisa!

Carmen: Hi!

Sisa: Are you excited to play our song today!

I can't wait!

Carmen: You bet!

I've been practicing to make sure we play perfectly!

Sisa: (chuckles)

It doesn't matter if we play perfectly,

as long as we play together.

Hey, there's someone in the van I think you know.

Carmen: Really?!

I bet I can guess!

Carmen/Andy/Leo: Luna!

Carmen/Sisa: ♪ Luna, come and play! ♪

Leo: ♪ Luna's here, what do you say? ♪

Andy: ♪ Luna, bright as day! ♪

Carmen/Andy/Leo/Sisa: ♪ Show us the world, lead the way! ♪

Luna: (grunt))

(splat)

Luna: Hi everyone, welcome to Cusco, Peru!

Are you all ready to go to the festival?

Carmen/Andy/Leo/Sisa: Yeah!

Carmen: Oh wait, let me grab my guitar.

Got it!

Carmen: Bye, Mom!

Maria: Have fun, Carmen! Bye, kids!

Maria: (gasps) Oh no! Carmen forgot her guitar!

Luna: Here we are: Plaza de Armas!

Andy: This is the best festival ever!

Carmen: This is awesome!

(crowd commotion)

Carmen: What a cool stage.

Sisa: That's where we're playing, Carmen!

Andy: Let's go!

I want to explore the festival!

Sisa: Let's check out backstage.

Carmen: Hello!

Beto: Can I help you, young ladies?

Luna: They're with me, Beto!

Beto: (dryly) Oh, hi, Luna.

Luna: Meet Carmen and Sisa.

Carmen: We've been practicing our act.

We're going to play perfectly!

Yippee. What do you play?

Sisa: I play the Siku pipes.



Carmen: And I play my beautiful Spanish...

(gasps) Guitar!?

Carmen: My guitar!

I forgot to put it back in the case!

Sisa: Oh, no!

How are we supposed to play together now?

Luna: Is there something you can do, Beto?

Beto: Well, you can use my old charango.

I don't play it anymore.

Here, I'll let you know when it's time to go on stage.

Carmen: A charango?

Magic Globe told us about this instrument...

but I can't play it.

It has, like, a million more strings than a guitar.

Sisa: (laughs) That's an exaggeration, Carmen.

It only has four more strings.

Carmen: That's too many strings!

Sisa: Carmen, the charango is a really

cool sounding instrument.

(strumming Churango) ♪♪

Carmen: Yeah, but I've been practicing this song for weeks

on my guitar and it won't sound the same on the charango!

Sisa: But Carmen-- Beto: I hate to interrupt but

you two are up in five minutes.

Carmen: (sigh)

That's not enough time to get my guitar.

You'll just have to play by yourself, Sisa.

Sisa: Carmen, wait!

Carmen: I was really looking forward to playing,

but not without my guitar!

Sisa: Please, Carmen, there must be some way

we can still perform.

Carmen: Don't let me stop you.

You can play by yourself.

Sisa: But I don't want to play by myself!

I want to play with you, Carmen.

Playing music with friends is the Peruvian way.

Carmen: Sorry... I'm not playing without my guitar.

Sisa: (sigh) Fine.

Carmen: Sisa, wait!

(growls)

Aargh... Can you believe her, Luna?

Luna: Actually, Carmen, I think Sisa's feeling bad

that you won't play with her.

I'm going to make sure she's okay.

Carmen: (sigh)

What a disaster.

Kids: (laughing)

Leo: Ha! I've got the ball!

Nothing gets passed these fancy feet!

Whoaooaoaahh!

(thud) Andy: Goooall!

Carmen: Wow, you guys are sure having fun

with your new friends.

Andy: Yeah! We wanted to play soccer,

but we didn't have a soccer ball.

Leo: Luckily, we found an old tennis ball instead!

Carmen: A tennis ball?

You can't play soccer with a tennis ball.

Andy: Why not? It doesn't matter what we're playing with,

as long as we're playing together.

Leo: If we didn't have a tennis ball,

we'd just use a pebble!

Andy: And if we couldn't find a pebble,

we'd just imagine one!

Andy: Woah! Hey! Come back here

with that imaginary pebble!

Carmen: Those guys are having so much fun,

even though they're using

a b*at-up old tennis ball to play soccer!

Maybe playing the charango wouldn't be sooo bad.

Carmen: Sisaaa! SIIISAAA?

I want to apologize!

Ohhh, I'll never find her in this crowd!

Maria: Carmen, there you are!

I've been looking all over for you!

Carmen: Mama! What are you doing here?

Maria: I brought something I think you'll be happy to see!

Carmen: My guitar!

Oh, thank you, Mama.

Maria: I hope it's not too late for you and Sisa to perform.

Say, where is she, anyway?

Carmen: That's just it, Mama, I have to find her!

Carmen: Sisa? Luna?

Are you in there?

Beto: Oh, it's you.

Good timing, you guys are up next.

Carmen: I finally found my guitar!

But now I can't find my friend Sisa!

Beto: You can still play by yourself if you want.

But Sisa or no Sisa,

you need to get on that stage right now.

It's... show time.

Oh.

Announcer: Ladies and gentlemen,

please welcome to the stage...

Carmen and Sisa!

Carmen: Umm... actually it's just me, Carmen.

(microphone feedback)

I wasn't gonna play at all,

because I didn't have my trusty guitar.

Well, now I have my guitar...

but I've decided not to use it.

Crowd: (confused murmur)

Carmen: Tonight I'll be playing a national instrument of Peru...

the charango!

I'm not so good on it yet,

but that's okay.

I realize now that making music with a friend

is way more important than having the right instrument

or playing perfectly.

Sisa, if you're out there,

I hope you'll come join me on stage.

Carmen: One, two, three...

♪♪

Carmen: ♪ When I play, when I play a song with you, ♪

♪♪

♪ That's all I really want to do. ♪

(flute music) ♪♪

Carmen: ♪ The music fills my heart. ♪

(flute music) ♪♪

Carmen: ♪ I hear the harmony inside. ♪

Carmen: ♪ Hit notes I've never even tried, ♪

♪ The jump-for-joyful feeling when I'm by your side. ♪

♪ Singing songs with you. ♪

♪ who cares what people think? ♪

Carmen/Sisa: Hi, Luna! Luna: Hi, girls!

It was time for me to go back up into the sky -

but I heard your beautiful song from way up here.

Carmen: Sisa, I'm sorry I didn't want to use

the charango at first.

I always wanted to play with you,

but I also wanted the song to be perfect.

Sisa: That's okay, Carmen.

I should have been more understanding.

I was just so excited to play music with you!

Carmen: Me too.

And now I understand that it doesn't matter

what we're playing with,

as long as we're playing together.

Luna: That's right! Music is all about togetherness.

Carmen: Well, I can't wait to spend more time with you...

...and you in Cusco, Peru!

Luna: There's always more to do together in any place we visit.

But remember, there's always tomorrow.
