Leo: We live in a big, beautiful world.

Leo: I'm Leo.

Andy: I'm Andy.

Carmen: And I'm Carmen.

Our parents work in a circus that travels

all around the world and we travel with them.

Andy: So we never know where in the world we will end up next.

(train whistling)

Carmen: But wherever we go, we know that

Luna the Moon will be there with us.

♪ Traveling the world as a trio ♪

♪ Andy and Carmen and Leo ♪

♪ With Luna the Moon and some new friends too ♪

♪ Everyone's different and really they're just like you ♪



♪ All around the world ♪

(whistling theme song)



Leo: The Mystery of the Mask.

Leo: All right, Wrinkles! Time to go for a walk!

(chomp)

Or... time for eating flowers... again.



Leo: Huh?

Sounds like there's something going on in here...



Leo: Ahhh!

Masked Man: Ahhh! Leo: Ahhh!

Masked Man: Ahhh!

Leo: Gahhh! What in the world was that?

(boing!)

Fabuloso: Mr. Chockers!

I'm glad I found you.

There is something odd afoot in my Circo Fabuloso.

Leo: I'll say! I just saw some...

dancing... umm...

person in the performer tent!

Fabuloso: Many people dance in that tent, Leo.

That is not what I was talking about.

My concern is...

our friend, Hockbar!

I do not know where he has gone!

Leo: Hock Thelonious Bar...

Oh no!

Fabuloso: I'm afraid so...

and on our friend- o-versary no less.

Leo: Friend-o-versary?

Fabuloso: Yes.

On this very day, twenty years ago,

Hockbar became my friend.

Each year we celebrate by exchanging gifts!

I made him a little Hockbar statue out of cheese.

Leo: Ugh.

Fabuloso: But Hockbar cannot enjoy

my work of cheesy art, Leo.

For he is nowhere to be found!

Ai yah!

Leo: I'm sorry, Señor... but how can I help?

Fabuloso: That's why I've enlisted the help of your

friends and their talking Earth-ball.

Leo: You mean Carmen and Andy?

Andy: You bet, Leo!

Carmen: But we're not just Carmen and Andy today...

Andy: Nope. Today we're...

Andy/Carmen: The Figurin' Stuff Out Crew.

Carmen: We'll help find Mr. Hockbar, Señor Fabuloso!

Fabuloso: Wonderful!

Now run along, children. Go find Hockbar, please.

Ai! Aiiiiii!

Andy: Poor Señor Fabuloso!

Carmen: Well then, I guess we better

start figurin' stuff out guys!

First up... where are we, Magic Globe?

Magic Globe: Hi, Figurin' Stuff Out Crew!

Magic Globe: Today we are in the city of Bangkok,

in the country of Thailand.

Bangkok is well known for its beautiful art.

Magic Globe: One of the most beautiful art forms

in Thailand is the Khon dance.

In Khon performances,

dancers on stage tell stories

using wonderfully detailed sets and masks.

Andy/Carmen/Leo: Cool! Thanks, Magic Globe!

Leo: Those masks sure looked familiar.

Wait! The dancer person I saw had a mask like that!

Andy: You saw a dancy person wearing a mask?

Carmen, what if this person has something to do

with Mr. Hockbar being missing?

Andy: Hmm, tell us more, Leo.

What did this masked dancy guy look like?

Leo: Well, he had a mask...and tusks...

Andy: So, a masked walrus.

Leo: Well, no. More like...

Uhh... Gah!

Like that!

Masked man: Ahhh!

Leo: Gehh...

Carmen: Like that?

But that's a tree, Leo.

Andy: So, a masked tree-walrus.

Leo: No! He was just there... but ran away!

Andy: Uh huh, yup...I see... that's a tree, all right!

Carmen: Hang on a second...

that looks like Mr. Hockbar's shoe!

Leo: The masked guy must have dropped it when he ran away!

Carmen: That's right, Leo.

And if the masked guy had Mr. Hockbar's shoe,

he must know where Mr. Hockbar is!

Andy: Then we better find that masked dancer,

looks like we're on our way to Figurin' Stuff Out!

(honking)

Luna: Wooo!

Luna: Did someone say... "Figurin' Stuff Out?"

♪♪

Carmen: ♪ Luna come and play! ♪

Leo: ♪ Luna's here, what do ya say! ♪

Andy: ♪ Luna, bright as day! ♪

Andy/Carmen/Leo: ♪ Show us the world, lead the way! ♪

Leo: Boy, are we glad to see you, Luna!

Señor Fabuloso is sad because Mr. Hockbar disappeared

on their friendo-versary!

So, he asked me to find him with the help of, uh...

Andy: The Figurin' Stuff Out Crew!

Leo: Yeah, that!

Luna: Oh, no!

Andy: But not to worry, Luna.

We're on the case!

Carmen: We even found our first clue.

Leo: Yeah, I saw a masked dancing person at the Circo,

and when he ran away, he dropped Mr. Hockbar's shoe.

Luna: Hmm... a dropped shoe and a masked dancer person, eh?

Well crew, I've got this file on a guy in downtown Bangkok.

Nice guy. A friend of mine.

If this case involves masks,

he's who we wanna talk to.

Andy: So, this dancy thing, Leo...

Andy: Whaddya say? Is this our guy?

Leo: Uhh... no.

Carmen: What about this?

Leo: Oh, wow! That's it, Carmen!

That's the dancer person!

Luna: And just in time, guys. We've arrived.

(tires screeching)

Luna: Arun's Khon Shop!

(bell ringing)

Andy: All right, crew.

Let's figure stuff out.

Carmen: Right.

Luna: Play it cool, guys.

Arun can be a bit of a bear...

Arun: A-doop-dee-doop... Finished...

Luna: Hey there, Arun!

Arun: Luna...

Can I help you?

Luna: Yes, I believe you can.

I'd like you to meet Andy, Carmen and Leo,

my partners in this investigation.

Arun: Investigation?

Luna: Yes, Arun.

It means we're searching for answers...

mask-related answers.

Luna: What's the scoop, Arun?

Any strange types come by here lately

ordering...masks?

Arun: Hmm...maybe...

Carmen: We're looking for someone

wearing a mask like this...

Leo: ...and our friend, Mr. Hockbar.

Andy:...and this guy.

Arun: Uh.... Andy: Watch out,

he's a crafty one I'm told.

Arun: (clears throat)

Carmen: Does that look like one of your masks?

Arun: Yes, I remember making this one just the other day.

Someone bought it, but I can't remember who...

Luna: Maybe if you told us more about the

masks themselves it might help.

Arun: There are three types of Khon masks...

but the one you're looking for is... this one.

Andy: Are you sure you can't remember anything

about the dancy guy who bought it?

Arun: Nope can't tell you a thing...

except..

Arun: Oh, there he is now...

Masked man: Aaaahhhh!

Luna: See ya around, Arun!

Luna: Oh no, there he goes!

Leo: Aw, we'll never find him in the market.

Luna: Don't worry, Leo. He's no match for...

the Figuring Stuff Out Crew.

(traditional Thai dance music) ♪♪

Luna: ♪ Colorful costume, great disguise, ♪

♪ Mystery before our eyes, ♪

♪ Here's the question we must ask: ♪

♪ Who's behind the mask? ♪

(traditional Thai dance music) ♪♪

Luna: ♪ Through the market and the square. ♪

♪ Look around but no one's there, ♪

♪ still the question we must ask: ♪

♪ Who's behind the mask? ♪

♪♪

Andy: Hmm...

Ahhh... Uh-huh... hmm...

Leo: Do you see anything, Andy?

Andy: Looks like the trail's gone cold.

Leo: Wait, what's all that stuff over there?

Luna: I don't know.

Looks like something is going down, for sure.

Carmen: Let's ask Señor Fabuloso, I bet he knows.

Luna: Hey, Señor Fabuloso.

Fabuloso: Children!

Have you found Hockbar yet? Carmen: Not yet.

Luna: Hey, what's with the stage?

Fabuloso: I'm not entirely sure.

It mysteriously appeared in the middle of my Circo

all of a sudden and...

...oh, and now it seems a show is about to start.

Announcer: Ladies and gentlemen,

this performance is dedicated to...

...Señor Fabuloso!

Fabuloso: Me?

Leo: That's him!

That's the dancer we've been looking for!



Fabuloso: That mask... I know that mask.

GASP!

Carmen: What is it, Señor Fabuloso?

Fabuloso: Way back when I started my Circo Fabuloso,

I was searching for a special act.

I became enamored with a unique Khon dancer I found in Thailand

and asked him to join my troupe.

He wore that very mask!

And that man became my best friend

who helps me run my Circo to this very day!

Andy/Carmen/Leo: You mean?

Fabuloso: Yes, children!

That very Khon dancer was, none other than...

the incomparable... Mister... Hockbar!

Andy/Carmen/Leo/Luna: (gasp)

Fabuloso: Oh, Hockbar!

(boing, boing boing)

Fabuloso: You did this?

You put on this whole show... for me? Ai!

Hockbar: Of course!

I wanted to do something special for our friend-o-versary!

Fabuloso: I too have made something for you...

It's you...see? It's you!

A cheesy you.

Hockbar: Oh, Señor... it's beautiful!

Leo: Wait... Mr. Hockbar, you used to be a Khon dancer?

But why didn't you tell us it was you behind the mask?

Hockbar: I wanted it to be a surprise for everyone.

Andy: So... mystery solved.

The masked dancy guy was Mr. Hockbar all along.

Guess that means you're off the hook...

Walrus: Ahh!

Leo: Oh boy, I'm really excited to see

the rest of Mr. Hockbar's show!

Aren't you, Luna?

Huh? Where's Luna?

Leo: Luna?

Luna: Got'cha Leo!

Leo: Oh, there you are, Luna.

Luna: Hey, Leo!

It was time for me to go back to the sky.

But I sure had a fun time

helping to solve the masked-man mystery today!

Leo: Me too!

Luna: Oh, it sounds like the show is starting back up.

Boy, I'm sad to have to miss it.

I want to see more Khon dancing.

Leo: Well you know, Luna... there's always tomorrow!

Luna: Yup. There's always to --

Hey! That's my line!



Leo: (laughs)

Leo: The Elephant and the Bees.

Leo: Hi, it's Leo, with a folk tale from Thailand.

Leo: Once, back when Elephant had a short nose like a pig,

a fire raged through the forest .

Elephant was scared.

Leo: He saw some bees and cried,

"Bees! Please! Which way is safe?

Leo: Being good neighbors,

the bees led Elephant

to the safety of a cool river.

But soon, they were surrounded by smoke.

Leo: Well, bees hate smoke.

They asked if they could hide inside Elephant's mouth .

Wanting to repay them,

Elephant opened wide

and let the bees fly in.

Leo: But when the smoke cleared,

the bees wouldn't leave!

They thought Elephant's mouth made a good hive!

Well, elephant wanted them out of there!

Leo: So he gulped a gulp of water

and blew it out through his nose as hard as he could.

(trumpet blast)

He repeated this until the last bee was gone.

(trumpet blast)

To his shock, all that blowing

stretched his nose into a long, dangling trunk!

Leo: To this day, elephants sometimes imagine

they hear bees buzzing inside their heads.

Some say that's why they blow water through their trunks!

(trumpet blast) The End.

Carmen: Movie Monday.

Fabuloso: Oh! I can't wait!

(commotion)

Hockbar: Everybody ready?

Are your eyeballs itching for a great movie?

Okay, c'mon Leo, cut, cut, cut that out. C'mon, please?

Leo: (giggles)

Hockbar: Hmmm, what is this?

Where is it going?

Hockbar: Oh , Nononono! Uh, Señor Fabuloso,

the number of things you have plugged in here is, uh--

Fabuloso: Fabuloso?! Yes, yes, I know.

And did you see that big new sign out front?

Movie Monday!

Hockbar: Um, just thinking out loud here,

do you think we might be using

a little too much electricity?

Fabuloso: Nonsense, Hockbar!

Now, go man the projector while I make the introductions.

Hockbar: Okay, yeah, good, fine,

I tried to warn you, but, uh...

Fabuloso: Ladies and gentlemen,

welcome to Movie Monday!

All: (cheer)

Fabuloso: Today, it is young Carmen's turn to pick the movie.

Carmen, tell these nice people what we're watching.

Carmen: "The Hairy Games Part Two:

Wash, Rinse, Repeat."

Andy: Aw, man! Again?

Carmen: "The Hairy Games" is about a brave young girl

who goes on adventures, armed with only her magic...

hairbrush!

Fabuloso: Thank you, Carmen!

Now, is everyone ready to start the movie?

Luna: Wait! Oof!

Hold on a sec... I got it... wait for me!

Andy/Carmen/Leo: (gasps) Luna!

Luna: (phew) Sorry I'm late!

♪♪

Carmen: ♪ Luna, come and play! ♪

Leo: ♪ Luna's here, whaddaya say? ♪

Andy: ♪ Luna, bright as day! ♪

Andy/Carmen/Leo: ♪ Show us the world, lead the way! ♪

Luna: Okay, now you can start the movie.

Fabuloso: Roll it, Hockbar!

Hockbar: Uh ok, here goes nothing...

(zap! crackle)

Announcer: The Hairy Games.

(crackle)

Voiceover: My name is Katmione Everquest.

(thunder crashing)

Katmione: I'm a student at Madame Bouffant's

Magical Beauty Boarding School.

(crackle)

Katmione: So, let the Hairy Games begin!

All: (confused murmurs)

Carmen: What happened to my movie?

Hockbar: Like I said, nobody listens to Hockbar!

Luna: It's not just here. The whole city has gone dark.

Carmen: No power in the whole city?

Andy: But I don't even know what city this is!

Leo: I know, let's ask the Magic Globe!

Carmen: Yeah, sure.

Okay... where are we Magic Globe?

Magic Globe: Hello, everyone!

Today we are in city of Bangkok,

located in the country of...

oh...whoa..hey. (giggling)

Carmen: Magic Globe?

Andy: Where'd she go?

Leo: Don't worry! I've got you, Magic Globe.

Magic Globe: Thanks, Leo. Now where was I?

Oh, right! Today we are in the city of Bangkok,

located in the country of Thailand.

Thailand is known all over the world

for its arts and culture,

including sculpture, dance, and even puppets.

Have a great night in Thailand, everyone!

Andy/Carmen/Leo: Thanks, Magic Globe!

Andy: Puppets, huh? That gives me an idea.

Who needs Movie Monday when we can make...

Andy: ...shadow puppets!

Check this out! It's a bird!

Leo: (laughs) Cool!

Carmen: Sorry, but shadow puppets

are nothing like a movie.

I need action and adventure on the big screen!

I need a brave girl on a quest!

Andy: Would you settle for a

worm coming out of an apple?

Luna: Well friends, I don't think the power

is coming back on anytime soon.

Andy/Carmen/Leo: Awww...

Luna: But, I do know of a show on the big screen

that doesn't need any electricity,

and it's happening right here in Bangkok.

Andy/Leo: (cheers)

Carmen: Wait, what? What kind of show?

Luna: You'll see. C'mon, let's go!

Luna: (grunting)

Luna: Thanks, Manit.

Patra: Hello, Luna! What a pleasant surprise.

Luna: Hi Patra, we're here for some entertainment!

Patra: The show has begun, so please be quiet

while taking your seats.

Lek: The brave girl looked out over the water

toward the island where the mean Ogre lived.

Carmen: Hmmm, this movie looks really different...

Lek: Her friend had sailed that route and simply vanished!

Many others had made the journey, but, alas,

none had returned!

Surely the ogre must be holding her friend c*ptive!

"I must go the island, defeat the Ogre, and save my friend!"

Carmen: Different... but cool.

Lek: As the girl rowed her tiny boat toward the island ,

dark clouds formed overhead.

Lek: Suddenly, a massive wave rose up from the depths,

crashing over the girl and her boat!

Carmen: Whoa!

Lek: To be continued..

Andy/Carmen/Leo: Huh?

Patra: It's only a short break.

How would you all like to meet my father?

He runs the show! Carmen: Runs the show?

What does that mean?

(loud straw slurping)

Patra: Hi Dad! Lek: Yes?

Patra: Some of my friends came to the show!

Lek: Hello, children...

and you brought Luna the Moon as well!

Luna: Hey, Lek.

Lek: Luna, it's been a long time since you came here

to watch the shadow puppets.

Carmen: Shadow puppets?

Luna: Yeah, Carmen, this whole show

is made with shadow puppets.

Tell 'em, Lek!

Lek: Well, this kind of performance is called

"Nang Talung"... Thai for "shadow puppets!"

I create these puppet characters that work like this.

Lek: The light shining behind the puppet

makes a shadow on the screen. See?

The audience sees the shadow on the other side.

Andy/Leo: Oooooooh!

Lek: I usually use a light bulb to light the screen,

but today I'm using a flame,

like they did in the old days.

Andy: Cool! But,

how do you know what the characters are going to say?

Lek: Ah! That's the most fun part of my job!

I get to make up what the characters say

and do voices for them as well.

Lek character: Hi, everybody? Hey!

Why'd you give me this voice?

Luna/Leo: (chuckle)

Luna: Thanks for the look behind the scenes, Lek.

We'll let you enjoy the rest of your break.

Carmen: Shadow puppets! But I wanted to watch a movie.

Luna: Live performances, like Nang Talung,

can be just as good or better than movies, Carmen.

Carmen: Hmpf... this show can't possibly be

as exciting as a movie like "The Hairy Games."

Patra: Hmmmm...

Lek: Me-me-me-me- me-me-me-me-meeee...

The fennec fox fibbed funny falsehoods to his Fa-ther--hmm?

Patra: (whispering) Lek: Oh! Okay, can do!

Lek: Our hero awoke on the island shore,

her boat smashed to pieces on the rocks.

She shed her cloak to reveal...

a brave butterfly beneath!

The butterfly declared..

Lek: "Though I have lost my ship, I still have...

my magic hairbrush!"

Carmen: Magic hairbrush?

Just like in the Hairy Games!

Lek: As she continued on her journey, she sang an epic song !

♪♪

Lek: ♪ I was rowing over every wave, ♪

♪ I kept on rowing to the Ogre's cave. ♪

♪ Fierce wind blowing, I must do my best ♪

♪ Fear is growing as I face this test. ♪



♪ The way is long. ♪

♪ I must be strong. ♪

♪ When I arrive. ♪

♪ The fight is on ! ♪

♪ I came to chase the Ogre. And he will taste defeat. ♪

♪ Once I face the Ogre, ♪

♪ My journey will be complete ♪

(zap, crackle)

Carmen: Wait, what! What just happened?

Luna: Looks like the power came back on!

Leo: That means we can go back to the Circo

and finish the movie.

Carmen: Yeah...we could go finish the movie...

except I gotta see what happens next with these shadow puppets!

Luna/Leo/Andy: Yeah!

Lek: Finally reaching the ogre's cave,

the butterfly spoke!

"Come out, you mean Ogre!

I know you're holding my friend c*ptive!"

Lek: (growl) Raaaahhhh!

Oh, hello there!

Boy, I'm glad to see you!

I haven't see anybody in months!

Lek: Well, what do you expect when you're always

attacking boats and holding sailors

like my friend c*ptive...

because you're so mean.

Lek: Mean! I'm not mean!

I just have bad hair days every day,

so ships keep getting caught in my tangles!

I'm a nice Ogre,

but no one likes me because of my unruly hair.

That and I don't shower.

Carmen: (laughs)

Lek: Indeed, stuck in the Ogre's wild hair

were all the ships that had gone missing.

The Butterfly saw that the poor Ogre had been misunderstood.

She raised her magic hairbrush and said...

"Totally un-mean Ogre, I shall brush your hair."

Lek: With a swoosh of the magic hairbrush,

the missing ships were brushed free,

including that of the butterfly's friend.

The ships sailed on to their destinations .

The Ogre was overjoyed...

Lek: The Butterfly said, "I came to defeat you,

but instead... I saved one friend and made another!

♪♪

Lek: ♪ I thought that when I said "Hello" ♪

♪ I'd see the Ogre was my Foe ♪

♪ But happily that's not the end. ♪

♪ It turns out that the Ogre is now a friend ♪

♪♪

All: (applause) (cheering)

Carmen: Yay!

Patra: We hope you liked our shadow puppet show, Carmen.

Carmen: I did! Thank you, Patra and Mr. Lek.

I never thought shadow puppets

could be as entertaining as a movie.

It was wonderful! Right, Luna?

Luna?

Carmen: Luna?

Luna: I'm right here, Carmen!

Carmen: Oh!

Luna: Hi, Carmen.

Did you enjoy the Nang Talung shadow puppets?

Carmen: I sure did, Luna.

Hey, maybe next time, instead of Movie Monday

we can have Shadow Puppet Monday!

Luna: Yeah, sometimes when you don't get exactly what you want,

there may be something even better waiting for you...

Carmen: You're right, Luna.

Bangkok, Thailand is so much fun!

I can't wait to learn more about it.

Luna: There's more to learn about any place we visit,

but remember there's always tomorrow.
