Nature Cat: Tally ho!

Daisy: Rights Or Wrong.

Goin' to see Cousin Marvin!

Goin to see cousin Marvin,

Can't wait to see you! Marvin!

I can't wait to see Marvin too, too,

I know!

It has been such a long time since we went to the marsh!

Daisy: Oh man-oh-man, I bet the marsh is just beautiful

with the cattails and milkweed in bloom!

Yeah yeah, and oh, the herons!

The, herons looking for fish!

And where are all the fish?

And frogs?

And dragonflies?

And where is all the water?

I know, I know, why does it always have to be water.

Nature Cat: But where is it?

Howdy, cuz.

Howdy, cuz, indeed!

Marvin! What happened to your home?

Oh Squeeks!

We've been dried up and dried out!

But how, and whom what,

where when and why?!

What he said!

Remember how I showed you where the stream flowed

into the marsh?

Well, look! The stream dried up

about two weeks ago.

And without the stream water,

animals have moved on in search of food.

What about cousins Harold,

That's just not fair!

We gotta do something to save the marsh!

Let's get a look at the stream!

Cousin Marvin, do you know how all this happened?

Well, I have an idea.

Marvin: Something has stopped the water upstream.

Hal: Yeah! There should be water flowing in that stream!

Exactly, Hal!

If something has happened

to the stream then

the marsh has no steady source of the water.

Why can't we do that?

Maybe it's a magical hare with special magical powers.

No, there's gotta be a scientific explanation.

Hmmm...Oh!

You know, maybe there's something special

about the hare that helps it walk on the snow.

Let's ask!

Winter greetings, Snow Hare.

It's me, Hal!

Hiya, what's hoppin' Hal?

Hey! How you doin'?

We noticed you movin' pretty easily on the snow.

Very impressive.

Oh, oh, oh! Is it because your feet are really big?

No offense - it's just are those what help you walk

across the snow like that without sinking?

Or is it magic, and if so could you whisper to us

your secret, we promise we won't tell anyone and

we'll quietly be on our way.

Oh, I'm no magician, Nature Cat.

And there's no secret.

Nope.

Now, look-ee-here. See these feet of mine?

Daisy's right.

My back feet are longer and wider than my front feet,

and I can spread my toes really wide to help

me stay on top of the snow when I run.

Oh, wow!

My back feet aren't big like yours.

That must be why I sink down into the

snow and you don't.

Hah. Hah. Hah. It's cool.

They don't call me a snow-shoe hare

for nothin, you know.

Gotta go! See ya!

Yeah. I just wish we had feet

like the snowshoe hare does!

Snowshoes!

That's it, Hal.

Hal! You're a genius!

Oh, why thank you.

And just a quick follow up question,

why exactly am I a genius again?

Think about it, Hal.

What if we could strap something to our feet that

made them like the hare's feet?

Like this, perhaps?

Holy smokes, Nature Cat.

That kinda looks like the hare's big ol'

spread out feet.

Here, g*ng, try these on for size.

Oh yeah! Oh yeah!

It's so much easier to move across the snow now.

C'mon, g*ng - there's no time to waste.

Nature Cat: Tally Snow!

You guys, look!

Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy, I'm so happy!

Whoa! Whoa!

Hey, you guys -

I don't know about you

but I'm having a really hard time keeping my balance.

Me too too also.

I'm slipping and sliding but it's not

like the fun kind.

Nature Cat: Whoa!

Man oh man oh man.

That ice sure was slippery.

How are we ever going to make it back up?

Hal: (sighs) It's way too hard!

Maybe we can use our speed to our advantage.

Okay! Back up everyone.

We're going to get a running start.

And then our momentum will take us to the top of the hill!

It's working! It's working!

It's, actually it's not working.

I stand corrected.

Man-oh-man...

Ugh. Let me think.

Ohhh. I wish we could just

climb up like that

Hal: wolverine over there.

Squeeks: Okay. How is he doing that?

This time it's definitely magic.

Right, Hal?

It's not magic.

Look at the wolverine's toes!

Daisy: Look how curved and sharp those claws are.

They grip the ice so the wolverine doesn't

slide backwards!

But without claws like his,

how will we make it up the hill?

Well, we learned from the snow goose and the

snow shoe hare, so how about we learn from the wolverine?

It's kind of a pattern.

Yes, yes! Brilliant thinking, Squeeks.

That's it!

We can add spikes to our feet, just like the wolverine's claws.

But where can we find spikes out here?

Voila.
