MAN: ♪ Well, it's a sunny day

♪ I feel brand-new

♪ There's about a million things that I could do ♪

♪ Whoa, would you like to...

♪ Do them, too?

♪ Yeah

♪ Well, it's a big, wide world

♪ And it's waiting for me and you. ♪

[clapping to music]

♪ Let's look around

♪ What will we see?

♪ Round every corner, a discovery ♪

♪ Whoa, there's no place I'd... ♪

♪ Rather be

♪ Oh, yeah

♪ Well, it's a big, wide world

♪ And it's waiting

♪ For me and you.

NARRATOR: One morning when Peep was out walking

he stepped on the most beautiful thing

he had ever... stepped on.

[gasps]

PEEP: Look at that!

Hmm...

NARRATOR At first he hoped the feather might belong to him.

But the feather was purple and black and shiny,

and Peep wasn't any of those things.

CHIRP: Hi, Peep.

Wow, where did you get that?

I found it-- like this.

I was minding my own business.

[humming]

And then I just stepped on it.

Ooh!

It's the most beautiful feather I've ever seen.

It must belong to the most beautiful bird in the world.

But who would that be?

QUACK: ♪ I'm a duck

♪ And ducks are best

♪ Better by far than all the... ♪ Whoa!

Where did you get that?

I found it-- like this.

I was minding my own business...

I bet it's mine.

Something that beautiful must belong to a duck.

But how could it be yours, Quack?

It's too big.

It's all the same.

Okay, stick it in there, please.

Yeah, right where the big feathers go.

Okay-- if you're sure.

I'm sure.

Ow!

[chuckling]

[quacks]

[both laughing]

What are you laughing at?

You look funny.

Hmph!

[both laughing]

Hey!

What?

[straining]

Ow.

Let me go or I will...

[Peep and Chirp giggle]

I can tell you one thing.

That is not a duck feather.

But whodoesit belong to?

Let's go find out.

I want to meet this bird.

NARRATOR And so Peep, Quack and Chirp set out

to find the owner of the beautiful feather.

[rustling]

It was harder than they thought.

Because everyone they met tried to claim it.

RACCOON: Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa-- stop.

Where did you get that?

Peep found it.

We're trying to discover who it belongs to.

Hmm...

Why, it belongs to me.

It's my long lost feather.

I know, I know--

you think I'm just a raccoon who has it all.

How could he miss one little feather?

[sniffling]: But if you knew... how much it meant to me,

how life just isn't the same...

Aw...

How could this be yours?

You don't have feathers.

I don't?

Hmm... no, you're all furry.

And besides, you're brown.

Uh... okay, okay.

So maybe we don't have feathers,

but weshould have feathers.

It's an oversight.

And if you'll just let me have that...

No way, raccoon!

We want to find therealowner.

Good-bye.

NARRATOR: Peep had to break the sad news to a lot of animals that day.

To a bunny...

I'm sorry, I just don't think it's yours.

Are you sure?

My nose is purple.

Yeah, but you're too soft.

You don't have pointy feather, uh... things.

[sighs]

NARRATOR: To an inchworm...

It's too big for you.

And besides, you don't have feathers.

You don't have anything.

[sighs pitifully]

NARRATOR: And finally to the blue jays.

PEEP: I know you're birds,

but I just don't think that this feather...

You're blue, not purple-- good-bye.

[Chirp sighs sadly]

We'll never find the owner.

We've looked everywhere.

MOUSE: Hi, hi, hi.

Oh, don't mind me.

It's okay that you're blocking my house.

[screeches]

Where did you get that... that...

The feather-- I found it.

I'd show you how, only I'm too tired.

Don't you have the faintest idea what that is?

That's what we're trying to find out.

Okay, I'll tell you.

Let's go somewhere safe.

[grunting]

NARRATOR: Once they got settled,

Squeak started to tell them

the scariest story they had ever heard.

You know, I just remembered.

I have things to do.

Bye.

What things?

NARRATOR: Where were we?

Oh, yes-- it was a scary story

all about an enormous bird who lived in an enormous tree

in the deep dark woods

and who came out at night and flew high in the sky.

And, well, the rest of the story was so shocking,

Squeak couldn't bear to tell it.

But she did tell them

that they'd better return the feather and fast,

or the enormous bird might be a little bit annoyed.

Do you really think she'll be mad at us?

I don't know, Peep, I just... don't know.

Well, here we are.

PEEP: The deep, dark woods.

[both gulp]

[animal calling eerily]

I don't think this is scary at all, Peep.

Do you think it's scary?

No, not me-- not one little bit.

Not the teensy-tiniest bit.

[owl hooting]

This must be it.

The tree.

Hi, tree.

How about if we leave the feather right here, okay?

And, uh...

VOICE: Who's making all that noise?

Don't just stand there.

Who are you?

Peep, sir, uh... ma'am, and Chirp.

Chirp is... Chirp... Chirp is me.

I... I mean, Chirp... Chirp is I.

[chuckles nervously]

What do you want?

Uh, uh...

Um, we wanted to bring back your feather.

It's a beautiful feather.

And we wouldn't have kept it...

only we did.

[both yell]

Stop looking so frightened.

I'm not going to hurt you.

Hmm... yes, it's mine.

Thank you for returning it,

but I don't need it anymore.

BOTH: Hmm?

Wait a minute.

Wait just a minute.

We came all this way into the woods in the dark

and that's all you have to say?

You don't need it anymore?

What do you want me to say?

Well, well... your name,

and what kind of bird you are,

and... and... if we can keep the feather.

NARRATOR: And so that's the story

of how Peep and Chirp met Hoot the owl

and discovered what owl feathers look like,

and learned that owls aren't that scary after all

unless, of course, you happen to be a mouse.

Oh, my, oh, my, oh, my!

GIRL: Kharaan and I found a suitcase of old clothes.

Vuthy and Olivia, my sister, helped get the clothes out.

Oh, I want this.

We are finding all different kinds of funny clothing.

[chuckling]: That's me.

This is a jacket that has lots of feathers,

and it's itchy.

In the inside, it's one texture

and the other side, it's another texture.

"Texture" is how it feels.

Now, these feathers, they're soft

and if you put them in your fingers, it feels good

because it's like it's smooth.

KHARAAN: This skirt is soft and it has leaves on it.

There's two different kinds of cloths.

Kharann, you look so funny.

This scarf, you can see through it

and you can see like little silver spots,

and it's kind of rough.

This one feels like soft, and it's furry.

These little circles, they look like CDs

and they're sparkly and they're like all different colors.

GIRL: Try looking at clothes very closely

to see how they look and feel.

[Peep snoring]

NARRATOR: When Peep fell asleep, the ground was cold and bare.

[snoring]

Peep.

[shivering]

NARRATOR: But then, just before dawn, it started to snow.

[Peep snoring]

Snow!

There's snow everywhere.

NARRATOR: Along with sun and clouds and fog and rain,

snow is Peep's favorite weather to wake up to.

CHIRP: Ew!

Ew!

Oh!

I love snow.

[grunts]

[grunting]: I don't...

know any...

one who doesn't love...

snow.

[grunts]

[grunts]

Hi, Peep.

Hi, Chirp.

[grunting]

I'm coming over.

[grunting]: I love... snow.

[grunting]

I love...

[groans tiredly]

Hi, Chirp.

Come play in the snow.

It's fun.

You're having fun?

Oh, yeah.

Whoops!

[giggling]

Oof.

[spitting]

This is too much snow for anyone.

[sniffing]

Okay, it's too much snow for birds.

Quack, how come you're not sinking?

Big, flat duck feet.

Come on, let's play.

[straining]

[sighs]

PEEP: Come on, Chirp.

[grunts]

[giggles]

Duck feet-- one more thing that makes ducks the best...

[yells]

[yelling and groaning]

We're coming, Quack.

[Quack still yelling and groaning]

[giggles]

[Quack yelling]

PEEP: We're here, Quack.

We'll get you out.

[Peep and Chirp groaning]

Um, how is this... helping?

Hmm... I don't know.

[Peep groaning]

[grunting]

Get me out of here.

Hmm...

[gasps]

[grunting]

Grab the branch, Quack.

[branch creaking]

[Quack yells]

[mumbling]

Quack.

[grunts]

Hey, you know what that looks like?

Like snow with a duck hole in it?

No.

Hmm...

Okay, go behind a tree,

and, uh, no peeking, okay-kay?

[Chirp grunts]

Hmm... Hmm...

Chirp, this looks like you.

Where's my face? [giggling]

Hmm... hmm.

[grunting]: Oh, that's perfect.

PEEP:Quack?

No, no, no!

Not yet, not yet.

[grunts]

Okay, now.

[Peep gasps]

It's a snow duck.

Notjust a snow duck--

the biggest snow duck ever, ever, ever.

Nice.

What are you doing?

You guys looked so excited

when I letyousee it...

that I, uh, want everyone to be surprised.

[Quack grunting]

Now no one can see it until I unveil it.

Hey, what's in there?

Something... amazing.

Wait, and it shall be revealed.

NARRATOR: So Quack told all his other friends

to meet him by the tree...

where they would be surprised...

delighted...

and after that, amazed.

It took all day, but Quack finally had everyone in place.

QUACK: Are you ready?!

Ow!

[Quack straining]

[water splashes]

Hey, Quack.

Weren't those icicles much bigger before?

So? They didn't come to see icicles.

[straining]

[yells, then moans]

[Quack laughing]

Ta-dah!

Hey!

I waited all day for that?

[screams]

That's not my snow duck.

Who took it?

This isn't funny.

All right, who took it?

[sighs]

PEEP: We were here the whole time.

We didn't see anyone take it.

This is an impossible mystery.

Ooh!

Ooh! Wet... wet!

[groans]

Wet, wet!

Ooh!

Hmm...

Hey, Chirp.

Wasn't the snow up to our beaks before?

This is worse than I thought.

Someone came and took snow fromeverywhere.

[Quack sighs]

PEEP:Quack!

Shh, I'm staring.

Does it look smaller again or is it... hmm... just me?

Look around.

The snow is turning to water.

NARRATOR: Quack realized Peep was right.

No one had stolen his snow duck.

It had melted into water.

Oh, it figures.

I make the best snow duck ever

and he's all wet.

Look at this.

There's water everywhere.

[groans][groans]

Like I said, water is everywhere.

Woo-hoo-hoo!

Water, water, water, water!

[laughing]: ♪ Oh, there's nothing like a puddle ♪

♪ Except for ducks in puddles

♪ Oh, there's nothing anywhere you'll see ♪

♪ Better than a puddle made for ducks like me. ♪

Thank you.

GIRL: My mom took me, Anthony and Eric to the park.

Mom, do you have some ice in the cooler?

MOM: I do, yes.

Can we dump it out?

The ice is melting

because the sidewalk is so hot.

GIRL: The ice is changing to water,

and the water changes the color of the sidewalk.

It makes it darker.

Wow, we can paint using ice cubes.

It's freezing.

GIRL: I tried drawing a face with ice.

The marks from the ice start to get thicker

because the water is spreading out.

See, it starts to get thicker.

GIRL: I am making my name on the sidewalk.

My name disappeared because of the sun.

We started using brushes to paint on things with water.

While I'm painting, the water just goes away.

It's all drying up really fast.

I can't keep up with it.

I am painting a butterfly and the picture is speeded up.

You can see the water drying up and going away fast.

It really takes longer to dry up.

I'm going to see what happens

when I paint on the wood on the bench.

It doesn't show up very well.

The sidewalk works much better than the wood.

Try playing with water and ice,

and see how they change over time.
