We saw a real forest fire today.

It looked hot.

And kind of scary, even though we were far away.

It looked like a lot of trees were on fire.

I always thought trees lasted forever, but after

Seeing that fire burning all those trees, I'm not so sure.

Well, nature trackers, while it's true that individual trees

Don't last forever, new trees can grow in their place, so a

Forest, like the one you were observing, can last millions of

Years.

Millions of years?

And lightning often strikes trees in forests.

Why is that, mr. Conductor?

Because trees stick high in the air, which attracts the

Lightning, and lightning strikes can cause...

[Thunder] forest fires. After the fire

Burns itself out, it leaves b*rned and blackened trees

Behind.

Awk! That looks terrible!

Well, it might seem as if everything's been wiped out,

So forest fires can help the forest?

Yes, indeedy-do, buddy. Why, there are even some seeds that

Only open up and begin to grow when heated up in a fire.

Wow! Fires can help things grow?

Some things. So you see, tiny, it might seem like fire
