[Shhh]

Yadina: Wheeee! [giggles]

Dr. Zoom and I LOVE flying!

Xavier: Today we're meeting someone else who loved to fly.

Yadina: Bessie Coleman!

Xavier: Bessie was born in Texas in the year .

Yadina: When Bessie grew up, she wanted to be a pilot.

But back then, flight schools in the United States

didn't include Black or Indigenous women like Bessie.

It was REALLY unfair.

Brad: Aah! Uh!

But Bessie didn't let that stop her!

She overcame every single obstacle in her way!

[grunting] Waaaaah!

Yadina: Bessie Coleman made her dream come true.

And now I'm going to make this show start!

♪♪

Gary: C'mon, Nature Troop! Let's go, let's go!

Kids: [giggling]

Xavier: [jump grunts] [splashing]

Brad: [wobbles]

Yadina: [yelling] Hey Xavier!

Brad! Wait for us!

Xavier: Oh!

Sorry Yadina.

Almost forgot you came.

Brad: [out of breath] This hike's for the older kids.

Uh!

Like [huffs] us.

Yadina: But Dr. Zoom and I REALLY want to see

what it's like at the top of this hill.

I bet we'll be able to see the whooooole city from up--

Huh? Why did we stop?

Brad: Snack break?

Gary: Oh. Looks like we got ourselves a fallen tree.

There are rocks everywhere.

Hm. [chuckles]

Wonder how we're gonna get past this...

Xavier: Oh! Maybe we can climb over it?

[effort]

[struggles]

[thud!]

Gary: Let's, ah, take a break.

Might be heading back a little sooner than we thought, troop.

Brad: Yes!

Snack break?

Yadina: Aw, heading back?

But, I really wanted to get to the top of the hill.

[sigh]

Xavier: I don't think we can, Yadina.

Berby: [blarp bloop]

Brad: Ai ai AIIII!

Yadina: OOF!

Xavier: [gasps] Yadina: Huh?

What happened?

Brad: We were just in the forest!

Berby: [blerp] Xavier: Berby!

You brought us here?

Yadina: Maybe the Secret Museum can help us

get to the top of the hill!

Xavier: I think you're right, Yadina.

Yadina: [giggles]

Xavier: [humming]

We're getting something!

Look!

Yadina: A plane.

Do you think it can FLY us up the hill?

Brad: It does seem kinda small.

[whirring]

Xavier: That's who the Secret Museum wants us to meet!

Bessie Coleman.

Yadina: In Texas! In the year .

Brad: That's...

over years ago!

Oooo... I'm getting dizzy.

Yadina: I wonder how Bessie can help us

finish our hike up the hill?

Xavier: Only one way to find out...

Ready for adventure? Yadina: Ready!

Brad: Y'know, hiking halfway up the hill isn't so bad.

So, why don't we just do some, you know, cool-down stretches

and call it a day?

Lunge...

Oh yeah. Feel the burn on that one.

Berby: [blerp]

Brad: Oh alright.

[deep breath]

Ready.

Berby: [bleep blarp bloop]

Yadina: Here we go!

Berby: [blarp bloop]

Xavier: It's happening! Yadina: Hang on Dr. Zoom!

Xavier: Woohoo!

Brad: WOOOOOAH!!!

Berby: [giggly blarp]

[zap]

Brad: Oof! [bam!]

Sorry, tree.

[grunting--off screen]

Uh, that was not me.

Xavier: [gasp] Look!

Bessie: [jump grunts]

Berby: [whirring] Xavier: It's Bessie Coleman!

Thanks, Berby.

Berby: [bleearp]

Yadina: Hi, Bessie! Um, what are you doing?

Bessie: Up there!

A big ripe pear I can almost taste...

Brad: Oooo...

Bessie: If only I could reach.

[jump grunts]

Brad: [dreamy] I love pears...

♪♪

Xavier: Maybe you could try picking something else?

Bessie: If you want to reach your goal,

you gotta keep going for it!

I can't just give up when things get tough.

[thinking] Hmmmm...

[gasp]

Agh!

Brad: I got it! I got it! I got it!

Now Bessie's missing one pear AND one shoe.

Bessie: That pear's gotta come down

one way or another...

Hmmm... Aha!

Yadina: What's Bessie doing with that net?

Xavier: She's making it longer!

To reach the pear.

Brad: I don't know if it's going to work...

Bessie: [grunting]

Yadina: She did it!

Brad: Woohoo! Xavier: Alright! Pears!

Brad: Oh! Uh-eh-oh!

I got it. I got it. I got it!! Uh!

Bessie: Seeeeee?! It CAN be done!

Yadina: I wonder, if her net could pull

that big tree out of our way,

so we can finally reach the top of the hill?

Berby: [bleep blarp bloop]

Brad: Eeee-aaah! Eee-aaah!

Yadina: Whoa, where are we?

Brad: WHEN are we? Berby: [bleep blarp bloop]

Xavier: Berby says we're in Chicago,

years later.

Bessie: [playing] Woohoo!

Look at me! Yadina: [gasps] There's Bessie!

Xavier: And the toy plane from the Secret Museum!

Yadina: Hi, Bessie!

Is that your toy plane?

Bessie: Oh, hey there.

I actually got this for my brother, John.

I'd love to fly my very own real plane, one day.

[sigh] Can you imagine the view from way up in the sky?

[long whistle]

John: [teasing] Bessie? Flying?

You sure you wouldn't be scared, sis?

Bessie: Now you listen to me, John!

I WILL become a pilot someday.

In fact, I'm going to sign up for flight school right now!

John: You'd make a great pilot, Bessie.

You definitely have the guts for it.

But, you know flight schools in the US won't let you in, right?

Bessie: And why is that?

John: Because they only teach white people how to fly.

Bessie: [frustrated] [groans]

Yadina: That's not fair.

You can't treat people differently

because of the color of their skin!

Brad: Or if they're a boy or a girl!

Xavier: Sadly, a hundred years ago it was common

for people to treat others differently.

Yadina: I guess Bessie won't be able to fly after all...

Just like we won't be able to get to the top of the hill.

Bessie: If I want to reach my goal,

I have to keep going for it!

John: Well, they teach some women how to fly in France.

You could try there.

But France is a loooong way away.

Bessie: That's okay. I'll go pack my bags!

John: You know they speak French in France, right?

Bessie: First, I'm going to learn French!

[speaking French] Je suis. Tu es.

Il est...

One ticket to France, please.

♪♪

[sigh] Looks like I'll need another job!

[clank]

Uh! Ooh!

Alright!

[boat horn sounding] Bon voyage!

John: That's what I'm supposed to say!

Bessie: I want to learn to fly, please.

Ugh!

[door slams]

[to herself] [sigh] Keep going.

Yadina: Why does it have to be SO extra hard for Bessie?

Will she ever get to be a pilot?

Berby: [bleep blarp bloop]

Brad: Uaaah! Ayeeeh!

Xavier: Hey, we're at an airfield!

Xavier: Two years later!

Yadina: Do you think Bessie is here?

Aww!

Bessie: [off screen] Yadina! Over here!

Yadina: [gasp] Bessie!

You became a pilot!

Bessie: It was tough, and took a LOT of perseverance,

but worth it so I can do this...

♪ [triumphant music]

Here I go!

♪♪ [plane humming]

Brad: Whoooaaaa.

Go Bessie!

Xavier: Woohoo!

Brad: Do a flip!

♪♪

Bessie: [laughs]

Brad: [gasps] Yadina: Wow! Go Bessie!

Bessie had SO many obstacles in her way to being a pilot.

But she really wanted to reach her goal,

so she kept going for it.

If Bessie can do it,

do you think we can, too?

Xavier: Totally worth a sh*t.

Yadina: Berby, let's go home.

Berby: [blarp blurp]

♪♪

Gary: Alright, Nature Troop.

It's time to head to head back down the hill.

Yadina: Wait! If we want to reach our goal,

we need to keep going for it.

We can find a way to the top of the hill,

if we work together.

Gary: Let's do it!

[grunting/groaning]

[sighs/groans]

Yadina: If we can't go around the tree,

and we can't go over the tree,

maybe we can go..

[gasp] THROUGH it!

Hmmmm.

Uh?

[gasp]

I found it!

Come on, Nature Troop!

Gary: Hah!

Okay Nature Troopers, let's go!

♪♪

♪♪ [grunting]

Yadina: We did it!

Xavier: Woohoo! Yeaaah!

Gary: [groaning] [sigh]

Hey look!

We're almost at the top!

Yadina: Ah! Wow...

You were right, Bessie.

This is an amazing view!

♪♪

It was so great meeting Bessie Coleman.

Xavier: Bessie became the first Black and Indigenous woman

to publicly fly an airplane in the United States.

Brad: And because she fought for what's right,

she was able to open the door for other Black American women

to become pilots, too!

[laughs]

Yadina: [to Dr. Zoom] Awww...

Thanks for joining our awesome adventure

to meet Bessie Coleman.

Xavier: Who used to be a kid, just like you and me.

Brad: So kids like you can change the world!

I am Brad.

Xavier: I am Xavier.

Yadina: I am Yadina.

And when I want to reach a goal,

I will always keep going for it,

just like Bessie Coleman!

Yadina: Wow! [giggle]

Xavier: Uh, where are they?

Brad: [laughs] I LOVE BOOOOOKS!

Yadina: Today we're meeting someone else who loved books...

King Sejong the Great!

Xavier: King Sejong was born over years ago

and became King of a nation that we now call Korea.

Brad: Why was King Sejong so great?

Xavier: He had lots of amazing ideas,

like making sure everyone had a chance

to learn how to read and write.

Yadina: That is a GREAT idea!

Xavier: Speaking of great ideas...

let's START THE SHOW!

Yadina: Ah! Xavier: Ooo...

Yadina: The new KidZone exhibit

should be a reptile wonderland!

Xavier: How about a virtual flying machine?

Brad: Or a build-a-butterfly-wing station!

Soo-Min: Hi! I'm Soo-Min.

Are you coming up with ideas for the next exhibit?

I didn't know kids could do that!

Brad: Weeell, not exactly.

Xavier and Yadina's parents run the whole museum,

and they asked us for some ideas.

Soo-Min: So you're the only ones who give ideas for the KidZone?

Yadina: Not just us. Dr. Zoom does too!

Soo-Min: Oh...

That sounds fun...

[sad] See ya.

Aww..

Brad: Um.. is it just me,

or does Soo-Min look kinda disappointed?

Xavier: Uh?!

Yadina: Maybe she didn't like our ideas?

Xavier: Well, we do need bigger

and better ideas for the KidZone.

Yadina: Sooo where could we get some help with that?

Brad: [cringes] Nonono--!Xavier/Yadina: To the Secret Museum!!

Brad: [shouting] Remember my butterfly wing idea?

They could be super BIG wings!

Hey, wait for meee!

♪ [playful music]

Yadina: [giggles]

Yadina/Xavier: [giggle]

♪♪

[giggle]

Xavier: I wonder who the Secret Museum will send us to meet?

Yadina: And where we'll go.

Brad: And when!

[zap] Uaaah!

Yadina: Look out below! Xavier: Woohoo!

Brad: Wooah!

Xavier/Yadina: Hi, Berby! Berby: [bleearp]

Brad: Hi, Berby! Berby: [blarr bloop]

Brad: Oof!

Xavier: [humming]

We're getting something!

Brad: Is that a paint brush?

Yadina: Maybe the Secret Museum wants

an art station for the KidZone?

Brad: I wonder who it belonged to?

Xavier: King Sejong the Great.

That's who we're going to meet!

Yadina: In Korea, in the year .

Brad: That's over...

[gasps] years ago!

Yadina: If Sejong is a great King,

I bet he knows a thing or two about

what to put in a museum KidZone.

Xavier: Only one way to find out...

Ready for adventure? Yadina: Ready!

Brad: [sigh]...Ready.

Berby: [bleep bleep bleep]

[blarp bloop]

Yadina: Here we go!

Berby: [bleep blarp]

Xavier: It's happening! Yadina: Hang on Dr. Zoom!

Xavier: Woohoo!

Brad: WOOOOOAH!

Berby: [bleearp bloop bloop]

[zap]

Brad: Woaaah! Uhh.

Sejong The Great: [IN KOREAN] Josim-ha-se-yo! [Careful!]

Yadina: Thanks for the catch.

[giggle]

Look, he's holding the brush from the Secret Museum.

Brad: [gasp] Could it be...?

Berby: [blurp]

[whirring]

Xavier: Yes! That's King Sejong the Great.

Thanks, Berby.

Berby: [blarp bloop]

Sejong The Great: [Korean] Geu-geot cham shingi-ha-ne.

That is interesting. Yadina: He's speaking Korean.

We need the translator!

[click]

Sejong The Great: Very interesting...

Xavier: Uh, hi there!

Yadina: We couldn't help but notice--

Brad: You really like books!

Sejong The Great: [chuckles] I do!

Because books are full of ideas,

like this one!

Yadina: Oooh, what's it about?

Sejong The Great: [reading] There once was a wise king.

Who noticed his kingdom had more food

than the people needed.

And he had an idea:

he should save it!

So all the extra food was kept safe

in case anyone needed it.

Then one year, the farmers had trouble growing food.

But no one went hungry,

because the King was able to share what he had saved.

Brad: What a great idea!

Sejong The Great: That's my favorite thing about books.

They allow people to share ideas,

and everyone has ideas worth sharing.

Yadina: Maybe one of these books

has an amazing idea for the KidZone!

Taejin: Oooh! Uh!

We are so sorry, Prince!

I am Taejin, the palace gardener.

Jeongsuk: Oh! And I am Jeongsuk,

one of the cooks.

We just love hearing about new and interesting ideas.

Taejin: [laughs] It helps us come up with our own ideas.

Sejong The Great: Ideas? I'd love to hear them!

Jeongsuk: This is where I create new recipes,

and re-think old recipes every day!

This is a new kind of pickle,

it's sweet and sour!

This soup warms you from your toes up to your ears.

Xavier: [sniff] Mmmm...

Smells good!

Sejong The Great: Very impressive.

Yadina: [giggle] Dr. Zoom likes it!

Brad: [slurping] Mmm-hm.

[smacking]

Ohhh, that's the spot!

[sizzling]

[dry cough]

Spicy!

Jeongsuk: [giggles] Oh yea. It has a little kick of spice.

Here, try this dessert drink made of rice and barley malt.

Brad: [big gulp]

[relieve] Ahhh...

Much better!

Xavier: A dessert you can drink?

Cool idea!

Sejong The Great: Yes...

[to Taejin] What about your ideas for the garden?

Taejin: Prince, please come, follow me.

Planting flowers here and there

attracts lots of bees.

Brad: [sniffs]

Ah, that's nice.

[bees buzzing]

Taejin: And these herbs keep mosquitos away.

[chuckles] Oh, and vegetables grow extra big

if you cover the ground with old leaves.

Sejong The Great: These are all wonderful ideas.

You should write them down,

so you can share them with many others!

Taejin: I wish we could, but...

Jeongsuk: [sigh] We can't read or write.

Xavier: Why haven't they learned yet?

Sejong The Great: Come, let me show you.

[bees buzzing]

Brad: Hm!

Hey! Wait for me!

Sejong The Great: In our kingdom, we speak Korean.

But we read and write in Chinese.

And the Chinese alphabet is big.

Xavier: Uh? How big?

[grunting/groaning]

Whoa, this is huuuge--

Sejong The Great: There's more--

Brad: [groaning]

Sejong The Great: Learning to read and write

takes a very long time,

so it's too difficult for most people.

I wish I could change that.

If more people learned to read and write

they could share their ideas with many others.

And everyone has ideas worth sharing.

Brad: [grunting/groaning]

Sejong The Great: Now if you'll excuse me,

I must return to my studies.

Brad: WHOOOOA--! Ugh!

[coughs]

So, how does this help us with the KidZone exhibit?

Xavier: Hm.

Well, Jeongsuk and Taejin were disappointed

that they couldn't share their ideas with more people.

Yadina: And Soo-Min looked the same way at the museum...

Xavier: [gasp] So maybe Soo-Min has ideas she wants to share.

For the KidZone.

Yadina: I bet lots more kids do too.

They just can't share them like we can.

Brad: But what can we do about it?

Berby: [bleearp]

Xavier: Looks like we're about to find out!

Brad: Waaaa-aaah!

[zap] Ber-by!

Yadina: This is the same palace. Berby: [blarp bloop]

Xavier: But Berby says, it's years later.

Taejin: Ug! Uh-oh!

I'm so sorry!

I was too focused on my book.

Brad: Hey, you're the palace gardener!

Taejin: [chuckles]

Yadina: And you can read now!

Taejin: [with pride] Read AND write.

I'm writing down my ideas about plants and insects.

Yadina: How long did it take to learn

the whole Chinese alphabet?

Taejin: I didn't!

I can read and write in Korean

thanks to our Royal Highness' great idea.

[gasps] There he is!

Yadina: You're the King now?

Xavier: A King with great ideas!

Sejong The Great: To make reading and writing easier

for people here,

I designed a brand new Korean alphabet.

Brad: That looks WAY easier to learn.

Sejong The Great: Yes.

Now more people can read and write,

and share their ideas with MANY others.

Because everyone has ideas worth sharing.

Xavier: Wow! Coming up with your own alphabet

really IS a great idea.

Sejong The Great: [chuckles] Yes!

Yadina: We have to go now.

Xavier: Thank you, Your Highness!

Brad: Buh-bye!

Berby: [blarp bloop]

Xavier: Berby, let's go home.

Berby: [bloop blarp]

Yadina: [off screen] Step right up to the

newest addition of the museum KidZone!!

Brad: A suggestion booth!

Xavier: Share your idea for the next KidZone corner

with a video message!

Soo-Min: Yeah!! [giggles]

I have an idea, listen to this...

I think we should have an exhibit

for my favorite dinosaur:

the micropachycephalosaurus!

Xavier: Woah...

Brad: Woah.

It's a really good thing we didn't ask them

to write their suggestions.

Xavier: [giggles]

The alphabet King Sejong invented

is still used in Korea today.

Yadina: It's called 'Hangeul'!

Brad: It's one of the easiest languages to read and write,

because it only has letters.

Yadina: All thanks to Sejong's GREAT idea.

Xavier: Thanks for joining our awesome adventure

to meet King Sejong the Great.

Yadina: Who used to be a kid, just like you and me.

Brad: So kids like you can change the world!

I am Brad.

Yadina: I am Yadina.

Xavier: I am Xavier.
