Brad: [to viewer] Hello! Welcome to the show.

Today we're meeting a real hero:

firefighter James Braidwood.

Waaah! Ooof!

Yadina: Gotcha, Brad!

[to viewer] James was the first person to put together

a group of trained firefighters,

back when no one really knew how to fight fires.

Xavier: Too bad James isn't here to explain how this hose works.

Berby: [bloop!]

[blarp bloop]

[bonk]

[gurgling]

Xavier: Uh? WHOOOOA!

Brad: Look out!

Xavier: Whoa!

Maybe we better leave this to the professionals

and start the shoooow!

Brad: Hi, Ms. Rachel. You wanted to see me?

Teacher: Hi Brad, yes.

I've got some good news for you:

I am giving you an exciting new classroom job.

Brad: Really? [gasp]

Ooh, am I class pencil sharpener?

Oh, the light turner-offer?

Teacher: You'll be in charge of looking after Noodle

during our fire drills.

It will be your job to make sure

she's brought out of the classroom safely

and has everything she needs

when we leave the building.

Brad: M--me?

Take care of a whole guinea pig?

D-during a fire drill??

Eee!

Teacher: You'll do great.

Just a minute, Deonne.

Brad: Aaaaaah!

Eeee!

Yadina: Your teacher's right, Brad!

You'll take great care of Noodle.

Xavier: Yeah. You're the most careful person I know.

Brad: But, it's a lot of responsibility.

What if I forget to bring her food?

Or her favorite blankie?

What if I'm so nervous that I freeze

and Noodle has to carry ME out?!

I'm frozen just thinking about it!

[thud]

Yadina: Sounds like you need a little help with this new job...

Xavier: And that means...

Xavier/Yadina: To the Secret Museum!!

Brad: Is it too late to just quit?

I think it's a helmet.

Brad: Where are we?

Xavier: Hey, look!

Berby: [whirring]]

Xavier: James Braidwood.

James Braidwood: [bonk] Oh! Sorry...

I wasn't looking.

I'm just so excited about the news!

Yadina: What news?

James: One of the town fire brigades just got

their very first fire engine!

Xavier: A fire engine?

James: Uhuh! And...

my uncle works with the fire brigade!

He promised that next time they take it out,

he'll pass by so I can see it.

[nervous breath] He could be here any day,

any minute...any second!

And I have SO much I want to remember to bring

and to ask him and--

what if I forget?

Brad: I hear ya. I've got an important job

with lots of stuff I have to remember, too.

James: And are you soooo excited that you can't stand still?!

Brad: More like I'm so nervous, that I can't move!

Like.. um, right now.

[thud]

James: That IS a problem!

I don't know about you, but

being prepared helps me stay calm.

Then I can focus on doing my best.

So I'm going to get everything ready

for when the fire engine comes.

cars with motors hadn't been invented yet in .

James: Good thing we're all ready to go.

Brad: I am glad James got to see the fire engine,

but how does this help me look after Noodle

during a fire drill?

I'm not excited,

I'm nervous about what could go wrong.

What if I go out the wrong door?

What if my head gets stuck in the door?

W-what if-- Berby: [blurp]

Yadina: I think Berby has more to show us.

Berby: [blarp bloop!]

[whoosh] [zap]

Brad: Where are we? When are we?

Berby: [bleep blarp bloop]

Xavier: Berby says we're at a fire house,

years later.

Hey, there's James!

Yadina: And he's wearing the helmet, from the Secret Museum!

James: Like it? It's for my new job:

the Master of Engines!

That means I'm in charge of fire fighting!

There's a small fire down the road.

Just a wee one, but now

I'll get to see my new brigade in action.

Xavier: Cool!

Firefighter #: Huh?

[grunting/huffing]

[loud thud] Ouf!

Brad: What's going on?

[thump] James: Oh no!

They're--

completely unprepared!

Xavier: Maybe things will go better

once you get to the fire?

♪ [dramatic music]

Yadina: Thank goodness

the shed is empty, Dr. Zoom.

Firefighter #: WOOOOAH!

Firefighter #: Ooh!

[gentle splashing] Uh, uh...

James: Now, stay calm.

Focus your water on the source of the fire.

Firefighter #: [throwing effort]

Firefighter #: [grunting] Woah! Oof.

James: Everyone is so nervous and unprepared

that they can't work effectively.

Brad: Fire fighting IS a big responsibility.

Everyone depends on you!

Just like how Noodle is going to depend on me.

Eeee!

[thud]

James: [sighs] We can't let this happen again.

Next time, it could be someone's house!

So here's what we're going to do...

[off screen] We're going to practice!

Practicing how to get ready,

and how to fight the fire,

[loud whistle sounding]will help us prepare for when the real thing happens.

Being prepared can help you stay calm.

you'll make less mistakes.

[fire bell ringing]

James: Yes, but you'll have to keep back when we get there.

Yadina: Okay!

James: Now let's go over what everyone's job is.

Joseph, when we get there, you hook up the hose.

Charles, you ready the water pump.

Dennis and William, man the hose.

Albert, you're working the engine.

The rest of you, have the buckets ready.

Everyone made it out of the house safely.

But we'll need to contain this fire quickly

to stop it from spreading to the other homes.

Ready, firefighters?

Let's go!

♪♪ [water spraying]

Brad: What's happening? I can't really see.

Yadina: Oh, come on...

♪♪ [water splashing]

Brad: Yes! Xavier: They did it!

Yadina: Woohoo!

James: Great work, everyone.

Give yourselves a pat on the back.

You deserve it.

Brad: Wow.

If the firefighters can stay calm

and do their job during a real fire,

then maybe I can stay calm

and do my job during a fire drill.

I just have to be prepared!

Xavier: Now you're talking.

Brad: Thanks, James.

Berby: [whirrs]

Brad: Berby, let's go home!

Berby: [bleep blarp!]

Xavier: Okay, here's your fire drill map.

Yadina: And your list of stuff to bring.

Dr. Zoom will be playing the role of Noodle,

the class guinea pig.

Brad: Ready.

Berby: [sounding fire alarm]

Brad: Oh no! A fire drill!

Have I got Noodle?

Check.

Oh! Uh, Noodle's food?

Check. Over here.

Oh! Noodle's blankie?

Check.

Here we go.

Almost there. Hang tight.

Uh, now I go through the front door.

[panting]

And down the steps.

[panting]

Aaaaand, we're OUT!

Xavier: Nice work, Brad! That was fast.

Brad: Yes! And I didn't even feel that nervous.

Yadina: You're totally fire drill ready.

Xavier/Yadina/Brad: [cheering]

Xavier: Wasn't meeting James in-credible?!

He had tons of great ideas for

how to make fire fighting safer

and more efficient.

Yadina: Like using masks

to help firefighters breath better.

And ladders to help them get into buildings.

Brad: A lot of James' ideas are still used today.

Two hundred years later!

Making the world safer for everyone,

especially firefighters.

Queen Lili'uokalani!

She was born over years ago

and became Queen of the Hawaiian Kingdom.

Xavier: Hawaii is a group of islands

in the middle of the Pacific Ocean.

Yadina: Queen Lili'uokalani was known as a strong leader.

Brad: You mean, she could lift really heavy things?

Like this totally very heavy coconut?

[grunting]

Woah! [thud] Oof.

Yadina: [off screen] That's not what I mean, Brad.

[giggles]

Xavier: She was strong

because she made a lot of tough decisions

for the Hawaiian people.

Yadina: Being queen is a big responsibility.

Brad: Aah! [thump!] Oof!

Yadina: And now we have a responsibility...

to START THE SHOW!

[zap]

Brad: Xavier! Yadina!

Yadina: Nice, Brad!

Xavier: Are you going to the pool?

Brad: Even better.

My parents are taking me to Soaker Central!

Xavier: The brand new mega water park?

Brad: Yup! And that's not all...

They said you can come too!

Brad: Do you have water wings?

Xavier/Yadina: Uh-hmm!

Brad: You can use mine!

Xavier/Yadina: [chanting] Water Park! Water Park!

Brad: Woohoo! Let's go!

Oh...right.

Xavier: Actually...

Yadina: We promised Mom and Dad

we'd help them clean the museum exhibits today.

But maybe we can ask to go to the water park instead?

And Mom and Dad are great moppers--

I'm sure they'd be fine without us!

[sighs] What should we do?

Xavier: I don't know.

Brad: Go to Soaker Central?

Xavier: [gasp] But I DO know where we can get help

to figure it out...

Xavier/Yadina: TO THE SECRET MUSEUM!

Brad: WAIT!

[sighs] Knew it.

Wait for meee!

Xavier: I wonder who the Secret Museum will send us to meet?

Woohoo!!!

Yadina: Or how far back in time we'll go-OOO.

Brad: I'm going to find some stairs- WAAAAH.

Yadina:Look out below! Xavier: Woohoo!

Xavier/Yadina: Hi, Berby! Berby: [bleep blarp]

Brad: Hi, Berby! Berby: [blar bloop]

[thud] Brad: Oof!

Xavier: [humming]

We're getting something!

Yadina: Woow, what a sparkly butterfly!

Brad: [gasp] We're meeting a fellow butterfly fan?

[whirring]

Xavier: Queen Lili'uokalani.

That's who we're going to meet.

Yadina: In Hawaii, in the year .

Brad: But wait, that's...

Over years ago!

Yadina: Do you think Queen Lili'uokalani can help us decide

if we should help clean

or go to the water park?

Xavier: Only one way to find out...

Brad: [sighs]

Ready.

Berby: [whirring]

Yadina: Here we go!

Brad: It's happening!

Yadina: Hang on, Dr. Zoom!

Xavier: Woohoo!

Yadina: Xavier, look! Water!

Xavier: Well, that's that.

The Secret Museum definitely thinks we should spend the day

at the water park instead of cleaning the museum.

Yadina: Definitely. Time to go home!

Wait, where's Brad?

Brad: [groans dizzily]

[nervously] Uhh, how do I get down?

[relieved sigh]

♪ [distant singing] [gasps] Does anyone else hear singing?

Xavier: Yeah. It's coming from over there.

[thud]

Yadina: Huh?!

Queen Lili'uokalani: ♪ [humming]

Brad: Look, she's wearing the butterfly in her hair!

Berby: [whirring]

Xavier: Yes! That's Queen Lili'uokalani!

Yadina: Sure is!

So, uh, head home to the water park then?

Berby: [whirs]

Queen Lili'uokalani: Hello.

Xavier: Oh! Uh... hey there!

Yadina: Hello! Um, question for you:

If you had to choose between--

[boring voice] Cleaning a museum,

or...

[excited voice] playing in the water,

[normal voice] which would you pick?

Queen Lili'uokalani: Well...

I do love spending time by the ocean,

so I guess...

play in the water?

Xavier/Yadina: Yes!

Yadina: Wanna go down to the water now?

We could look for seashells!

Queen Lili'uokalani: Oh, okay!

Xavier: [giggles] Race you down there!

All: [giggling]

Brad: Hey, I'm winning!

[panting]

Queen Lili'uokalani: [giggle]

[distant bells ringing]

[gasps]

Brad: Woah!

Whoa-ah-oh!

Awh.

[bells ringing]

Yadina: Huh?! What was that?

Queen Lili'uokalani: The school bell.

I must get back to class.

Xavier: Oh. Maybe we'll see you later,

on your way home?

Queen Lili'uokalani: Actually, I live at the school.

The Chiefs' Children's School,

which is for kids who might one day lead Hawaii.

Brad: There's a whole school for that?

Queen Lili'uokalani: Uh-huh.

I come from a family of "Ali'i",

or "leaders".

And they're depending on me

to learn how to be a good leader, too.

Xavier: Oooh, so I'm guessing

that means not much time for playing?

Queen Lili'uokalani: A good leader needs to be responsible,

and being responsible can involve making tough choices.

I should get back now.

Xavier: [groans] Is that what the Secret Museum

Xavier: Woah... Yadina: Whoa!

Where are we?

Xavier: Oh, Berby says we're still in Hawaii,

years later.

Queen Lili'uokalani: [off screen] There! It's signed.

Thank you!

Yadina: Wow, you're the Queen of Hawaii now?!

Queen Lili'uokalani: Not just yet.

I'm Princess Lili'uokalani now.

But while my brother, the King, is away,

I'm taking his place as Hawaii's leader.

Xavier: Cool! So, if you're in charge,

you can do whatever you want?

Yadina: Like go play on the beach!

Queen Lili'uokalani: [giggles]

I do love being by the water.

It's where I rest and get ready for all the tough decisions

I have to make as leader of Hawaii.

Brad: What kind of decisions?

Queen Lili'uokalani: Well... Hawaiians have always been

free to travel between islands until a sickness

called smallpox came along.

I had to tell everyone to stay put for a few weeks

to stop it from spreading.

Xavier: A few weeks?!

Yadina: Dr. Zoom can't even sit still

for a few minutes!

[squeek-squeek]

Queen Lili'uokalani: Many people felt the same way,

but after speaking to experts, I decided

it was the best way to keep everyone safe.

Brad: Wow, that would be tough.

Queen Lili'uokalani: Yes. But,

I must be responsible as a leader.

And being responsible can involve making tough choices.

Yadina: But, don't you ever feel like

you're missing out on some fun?

Queen Lili'uokalani: Not at all!

I love making my kingdom the best it can be.

Xavier: Whoa. We're on a ship!

Queen Lili'uokalani: [exhales]

And now that smallpox is under control,

I'm visiting my people to see how they are

and make sure they have what they need.

And I'm bringing them some joy too-

Yadina/Brad: Wow!

Queen Lili'uokalani: Being responsible can come with

tough choices, but it can also come with wonderful rewards!

Xavier: Wow, Queen Lili'uokalani always did

what was best for her people.

Brad: Uh-huh. She went to a special school

to learn how to be a good leader,

and then she made really tough choices

that helped keep them safe.

Yadina: And she did it all because she loved Hawaii.

Like how we love the museum.

Xavier: Yeah... Yadina?

I think it's time we made our own tough choice.

Yadina: Phew! There are so many artifacts to dust.

Xavier: But I'm glad we chose to keep our promise

and help Mom and Dad.

Brad: She's remembered as a good leader
