Today I'm doing ballet with Jodi at the Treehouse.

Then, I'm having a special day

at my Grandpere's house.

Just me and Grandpere!

I'll be riiight back!

Today, I'm going to Katerina's Treehouse to...

[giggles]

...do ballet!

It's a type of dance - like this!

[jumping effort sound]

Have you ever tried ballet?

Come on!

[giggles] ♪ [trumpet music]

♪ [trumpet playing]

Dad Tiger: Ooh! [chuckles]

Daniel: Uhm, that didn't sound right.

Dad: Hmm, I've never played this song on my trumpet before.

So I haven't learned to play it so well--yet!

But I'm going to keep trying!

♪ Keep trying, you'll get better! ♪

♪ [trumpet playing]

Mom Tiger: Daniel, it is a beautiful day

in the Neighborhood!

Let's leave now so we can take a walk

before ballet.

Daniel: [giggles] Okay!

Dad: Goodbye Daniel!

Have a tigertastic time!

Daniel: ♪ Keep trying, you'll get better! ♪

Daniel: Ugga Mugga. Dad: Ugga Mugga.

Mom: [humming] ♪ La la la la

[humming]

Ohh [chuckles]

Daniel: What's that?!

Jodi Platypus: Hi, Daniel.

I didn't mean to throw my bean bag all the way over here!

Daniel: What are you doing, Jodi?

Jodi: I'm playing Bean Bag Baskets!

Daniel: What's 'Bean Bag Baskets'?

Jodi: Come over and I'll show you!

Daniel: Can we, Mom? Mom: Sure, Daniel.

Dr. Plat: Hello! Mom: Hi there!

Daniel: Hi, Dr. Plat!

Jodi: This is how you play Bean Bag Baskets.

You stand behind the rope

and throw the bean bag

into the basket...

like this!

[excited] I got it in!

Daniel: Wow, Jodi!

Jodi: I practice...a lot!

[giggles]

Do you want to try, Daniel?

Daniel: I do! I do!

Jodi: Stand here...

and toss it in!

Daniel: Uh...okay.

I toss...the bean bag...

like this!

[Sadly] The bean bag didn't go in!

It didn't even touch the basket.

Jodi: Here! Take another turn.

Daniel: Okay...

Here...

I...go!

[throwing effort]

[angry] Grrr.

Jodi: Here ya go!

Want to try again?

Daniel: [sadly] No.

[frustrated sigh]

Mom: What's going on, Daniel?

You seem frustrated.

Daniel: I couldn't get the bean bag into the basket.

Mom: Ahhh. I see.

That can be really frustrating.

You might not have gotten the bean bag in the basket...

yet, but...

♪ Keep trying, you'll get better! ♪

If you try tossing the bean bag again,

you might get better at it.

Daniel: ♪ Keep trying, you'll get better. ♪

Maybeee... I should try again.

Mom: Good for you, my Daniel.

Daniel: Uhh! [throwing grunt]

Jodi: Yippy skippy!

That was a lot closer, Daniel!

Daniel: Can I try tossing it again, Jodi?

Jodi: Uh-huh! Here ya go!

Daniel: [gasps]

[to viewer] Did you see that? I almost got it in!

I kept trying, and I did get better!

Mom: Hmm, I'm proud of you...

because you kept trying!

Jodi: That was a really close one, Daniel!

Daniel: That was grr-ific!

Mom: Okay, it's time to head to the Treehouse.

Daniel: Okay, Mom!

I'm ready for...

ballet tiiiiiiime!

Jodi: Ooh...I want to dance like that.

Mom: [chuckles] Would you like to come with us Jodi?

Dr. Plat: We'd be glad to join!

Daniel: Yay! Jodi: Thank you, mama!

Daniel/Jodi: ♪ It's a beautiful day in the Neighborhood, ♪

♪ So much to do, so much to see! ♪

♪ Won't you come along with me? ♪

Jodi: ♪ Come along!

Daniel/Jodi: ♪ Won't you come along with meeeee! ♪

Katerina Kittycat: [off screen] Twirl!

Prince Wednesday: [chuckles]

Henrietta Pussycat: Good job, meow meow!

Katerina: Hi, Jodi! Are you going to dance with us?

Henrietta: Jodi, we'd love it if you joined us for ballet.

Katerina: Meow meow yes! Prince Wednesday: Yes!!

Daniel: Grr-ific! Jodi: Yippy skippy!

Mom: Have fun!

Henrietta: Okay.

Form a line so we can get started, meow meow.

Now let's streeeetch,

so our muscles are warmed up and ready!

Just like that, Jodi.

And to the other siiide...

Ohh...

Okay, now who's ready to try a dance?

Katerina: Me! Me! Meow meow!

Jodi: Me! Yippy skippy!

Henrietta: [slowly] First, we bend down lowwww...

then go up on our tippy toes...

next, hold our arms up high...

and then twiiiiiiirl like this!

Again, bend down low...

tippy toes...

Join in when you feel ready, meow meow!

Daniel: [to viewer] You can dance too!

[kids giggling]

Jodi: Whoa!

Daniel: [giggles]

It looks like the flowers are dancing with us, too!

[gasp]

[to viewer] Heyyyyy...

Do you want to make- believe with me?

Let's make-believe

that we're practicing ballet with the flowers!

♪ [sparkly transition]

♪♪

♪ Come on flowers, follow me

♪ Move your petals one, two, three ♪

♪ Move my body and bend my knees, ♪

♪ Just like a flower blowing in the breeze ♪

♪ Spin and twirl, and leap and bound, ♪

♪ I'll move my body all around

Daniel: [to viewer] Wasn't that grr-ific?

[giggles]

Katerina: [giggles]

Jodi: Twirl... Daniel: Twiiirl!

Jodi: Ugh! Umph!

[frustrated sigh]

[frustrated] I can't do ballet!

Katerina: Twirl... Prince Wednesday: Twiiirl!

Katerina: [giggles] Jodi: [frustrated sigh]

Katerina: Watch this!

Prince Wednesday: A rrroyal yay!

Daniel: Tiger Twirl!

Jodi: [frustrated] Why can't I do it?

Daniel: Jodi?

Why aren't you dancing?

Jodi: [sad sigh]

Dr. Plat: You okay?

Jodi: I can't do the dance.

Dr. Plat: Oh, JoJo Bean...

this is your first time doing ballet.

Maybe you can't do it...

...yet.

You'll get better with practice.

Daniel: Yeah!

I couldn't do the whole dance

the first time I tried ballet...

...or the second time.

But I kept trying!

Dr. Plat: What do you think, Jodi?

Do you want to keep trying?

Jodi: [deep breath]

I'll try again.

Dr. Plat: I'm proud of you.

Boop! Jodi: [giggles]

Daniel: Come on!

Henrietta: Oh, I'm so glad you're both back, meow meow!

We'll take it nice and slow.

Prince Wednesday: A rrroyal yay! Katerina: Meow meow!

Henrietta: Hands at your side...

All: [chanty] ...now reach for the sky!

Turn on your foot,

give it a try!

Keep on twirling, that's the way,

That we'll get better at ballet!

[giggling]

Jodi: ♪ When you're trying to do something hard ♪

♪ Because with practice it can get easier for you. ♪

Even if you can't do it yet,

[giggles]

Ugga Mugga!

Daniel: [to viewer] Let's spend some time

with one of our Neighbors!

♪♪

Daniel: [off screen] This is Brooke,

she's learning to dance!

That's her teacher, Miss Michia.

Miss Michia: Hi Brooke, how are you?

Brooke: Good! Miss Michia: Awesome!

Are you ready to dance today? Brooke: Yes!

Miss Michia: [off screen] Well let's go!

Miss Michia: Your leg on the lower bar,

my leg on the upper bar, ready. Anddd...

Awesome! Ready, let's take our arm, and come up,

and stretch over. Look at that knee.

Keep marching! Pump those arms!

Daniel: [off screen] It takes a lot of hard work

and practice to learn a dance!

Miss Michia: Yes! Arms, arms, arms.

, , keep going! , , !

And mirror...curtsey...

Daniel: [off screen] First, they stretch...

and warm up!

Then, they practice the steps and movements

of the dance slowly!

Miss Michia: , ...

, ..!

Daniel: [off screen] When Brooke is ready,

her teacher helps her put

all the dance moves together.

Miss Michia: So we're gonna do, ready , , , [snaps]

and , ,

down [claps] and up!

Ooh [laughs]

[loud claps]

That is what it is!

Daniel: [off screen] Brooke keeps trying

and she gets better every day!

Miss Michia: , , ...

[laughs]

One more time. , , ...

Yes!

I'm ready for you to come to the next class. Are you ready?

Brooke: Yes!Miss Michia: Okay, I'll see you next time.

Brooke: See you next time.

Miss Michia: Bye! Brooke: Bye!

♪ [playful music]

Daniel: [to viewer] I like these visits with you!

♪ [playful music]

Daniel: [to viewer] Hi Neighbor!

I'm at my Grandpere's house.

We're having a special day together,

just me and Grandpere!

Do you know what I'm pretending to be?

[giggles] I'm an astronaut!

Come inside.

[blast off sounds]

Grandpere: [chuckles] Daniel: [giggles]

Grandpere: Ahhh.

Shall we have a space snack?

Daniel: [intrigued] A space snack?! Yes!

Grandpere: Okay, astronaut Daniel...

ready for blast off?

Daniel: Uh huh!

Daniel/Grandpere: .........

Blast off!

[chuckling]

Grandpere: Coming in for a landing!

[rocket flying sounds]

Daniel: [giggles]

Grandpere: We're having...

moon munchies!

Daniel: [excited] Woooah! Moon munchies!

♪♪

Grandpere: The perfect snack for my astronaut!

[chuckles]

First, we start with the moon.

Now...

I'll add some peanut butter

and bananas on top.

Daniel: Mmmm...

It looks deeeelicious!

[excited] Can I make my moon munchie, Grandpere?

Grandpere: Sure!

Go ahead and give it a try.

You can use the spreader.

♪♪

Daniel: This is so...

sticky.

[frustrated] Ahhh.

Hmph. I can't do it.

Can you make it for me?

Grandpere: Doing something new can be hard.

I could make it for you Daniel,

but do you want to give it another try?

We can take it step by step.

Okay, I'll try again.

Can you show me how to do it?

Grandpere: Of course!

You take some peanut butter

out of the jar like this.

Next, you spread it

on your 'moon muffin'

slowly...

Sliiiide it across,

back and forth, back and forth.

Ready to try again?

Daniel: Okay.

Daniel: Sliiiiiide.

Back and forth, back and forth.

Grandpere: Grr-ific!

Daniel: Can I make another one?

Grandpere: Go ahead!

Daniel: [to himself] Start with the moon...

Then sliiiiide.

Back and forth.

Grandpere: [off screen] Mmmmmm...

Look at that!

Daniel: It's even better than my first one!

Grandpere: Now that we have peanut butter,

it's time for the bananas.

Coming in for a moon landing!

[blast off sounds]

Daniel: Banana rocket...

coming through.

[rocket flying sounds]

Grandpere: [chuckles] Ohh-o-ohh,

and...done!

Look at those moon munchies you made.

Daniel: [off screen] Wow!

I did it!

Grandpere: Now, let's see if they taste

as good as they look.

[crunching sound]

Mmm...deeelicious!

Daniel: These are yummy moons!

Grandpere: I'm so proud that you kept trying

and learned to make it yourself, Daniel.

Daniel: Thank you!

I'm proud of me too!

Moooooon munchie!

Daniel/Grandpere: [chuckle]

[crunching sound]

Daniel: Grandpere?

Grandpere: Yes, Daniel?

Daniel: Have you ever been to the moon?

Grandpere: No, I haven't.

But I do like to look

at the moon at night.

Daniel: I like to look at the moon too!

[to viewer] Heyyyy...

Do you want to make-believe with me?

Let's make-believe that we're on the moon with Grandpere!

♪ [sparkly transition]

Daniel/Grandpere: ♪ What would it be like on the moon? ♪

Daniel: ♪ We could bounce around ♪

Grandpere: ♪ And jump really far! ♪

Daniel: ♪ We'd bounce so high

Grandpere: ♪ We could grab a star! ♪

Daniel: ♪ Flying so high with my Grandpere! ♪

Grandpere: ♪ So many stars everywhere! ♪

Daniel/Grandpere: ♪ I love floating in space with you ♪

♪ What would it be like on the moon? ♪

♪ [sparkly transition]

Daniel: [to viewer] Wasn't that grr-ific?

Grandpere: Mhm. [chuckle]

I've got a game

that I think an astronaut like you,

would like to play.

Daniel: Okay!

Grandpere: Follow me...

[dramatic] .........

Daniel/Grandpere: Blast off!

Daniel: [giggles] Grandpere: [blast off sounds]

[chuckles]

Here's the game I've been working on.

See this special stick?

I can use it to pick up things,

like these paper clips.

I hold it over them like this...

and then...

[bing]

[off screen] Voila!

Daniel: Is that magic, Grandpere?

Grandpere: [chuckles] No, it's science.

[chuckles]

The paper clips are pulled to the stick

by this magnet.

Daniel: [giggles] Woah!

Ooooo! Look at all these stars!

Grandpere: We can try to catch them with our stick!

Which color should we try to pick up first?

Daniel: Hmm...

The red one!

Grandpere: Okay, I'll show you how...

.........

Catch a red star with me!

Got one! Daniel: [giggles]

Grandpere: Now you try, Daniel.

Daniel: Oooh, I'm gonna get the...

purply star!

[chanty] .........

catch a purple--

No, not that one!

The purply one...

Ugh...grr!

Grandpere: You can try it again, Daniel.

Daniel: [chanty] .........

catch a purple star-

[frustrated] Grr!

I can't do it...

Yet!

but I kept trying and got better!

I've been learning how to tie my shoes by myself.

My uncle Friday taught me a way to remember.
