Halloween involves some classic animals,

[Martin] like a black cat.

A lot of people think a black cat is

kind of scary.

Not true, and there's a superstition

[Chris] that if a black cat crosses your path,

you'll have bad luck.

Not true!

We don't think this guy's scary at all.

[Chris] Just a cool cat!

And cuddly. (laughs)

And there are many more

misunderstood Halloween creatures.

[Chris] Like Spiders!

Now these guys may look a little creepy,

but they can do so many amazing things,

like build that awesome web.

[Martin] Oh I love them!

And Wolves!

(wolf howls)

[Martin] Now that howl might sound a little scary,

but it's just the very cool way that wolves talk to each other.

[Chris] And don't forget,

Vampire bats!

[Chris] Now it may seem kind of creepy

that Vampire bats drink blood,

and spend their days hanging

upside down in dark caves.

But once you learn more about them,

you'll find they're a lot less creepy than they seem.

Imagine if we could understand the truth

about classic Halloween creatures.

creepy creature adventure

to meet new animal friends.

A Vampire Bat!

that flows near the surface of the cow's skin.

When the bat finds the spot,

cue razor sharp teeth.

He nips the neck with his incisors.

The bat licks up the blood.

Blood is the Vampire Bat's number one food.

Oh and check it out.

The Vampire Bat has a special grooved tongue

that is really good at licking up blood.

The special formula of the bat's spit,

or saliva,

keeps the blood flowing.

Oh, they can drink tablespoons of blood

in around minutes.

That's a full meal for the Vampire Bat.

Not enough blood to harm the cow,

who's still sleeping by the way,

but enough to give the Vampire Bat the meal

it needs to survive.

Uh oh, but with a full belly,

the Vampire Bat has to rest a while before it takes off,

but he can still walk around...

and run!

You know a Vampire Bat is the only bat in the world

who can run and jump!

Oh oh cool!

Look at him go.

Ooh he looks really creepy cool.

That is amazing!

Vampire Bat powers are some unusual

and interesting Creature Powers.

Oh yeah they're going to make a great Halloween

for my Halloween costume.

with his hind legs

to release urticating hairs,

which are irritating to the skin.

That's cool.

And check out this offense.

Eight strong legs.

He's called the birdeating spider

because they have been seen eating

and catching birds.

Also rodents and lizards.

Wow, that's some good stuff!

This is going to make a great new Creature Power suit

for Halloween, for my bro.

So many cool creatures

have superstitious stories

made up about them.

These false ideas are called myths

and it's one of the reasons we creature adventure

all around the world.

To learn the truth about

our animal friends.

[Chris] Like owls.

There are cultures around the world that think

owls bring bad luck,

but we don't believe that at all.

Check out this Great horned Owl.

He's nocturnal so he hunts at night.

Using those big yellow eyes to spot his target

from so for away. (owl screeches)

[Chris] And once he sees his prey,

he uses his strong sharp talons to get his meal.

Another thing that helps him hunt at night are

the silent feathers.

Those feathers have little ridges,

fluffy ridges on the end

[Chris] so they fly silently.

[Martin] You are cool.

I love Great horned Owls.

Snakes are a classic Halloween creature.

[Chris] Now some are venomous,

so you should never pickup a snake

unless you're a snake expert or an adult

shows you how.

But this orange corn snake

[Chris] is perfectly harmless.

In fact they're helpful,

because they love to eat rats.

Hey and they are really cool to look at.

[Martin] Love the color,

perfect orange color for Halloween.

(both laugh)

Turkey vultures get a bad rap,

because these vultures actually do a lot of good.

They eat carrion or dead things

[Martin] which helps stop the spread of diseases.

This Turkey vulture can smell a dead animal from

over a mile away.

Checkout the nostril.

[Martin] You can see right through it

and out the other side.

That's a cool Halloween creature.

[Chris] And don't forget tarantulas.

With a spider this big and hairy,

with fangs and venom,

they can be pretty misunderstood.

[Martin] But because we've learned the truth about them,

we don't think they're scary.

Halloween creatures are creepy cool.
