Pumpkin Man, The (2023)

Post by bunniefuu »

Through snarling vines and twisted roots.

He'll latch onto your fear.

His wicked howl will strike your heart

when his evil draws in near.

October wind, sends chill to bone

and bustles all the leaves.

So beware.

Beware of the Pumpkin

Man this All Hallows Eve.

Good morning,

witches and goblins.

It's another beautiful

October day here in Cromwell,

home of the evil demon

known as the Pumpkin Man.

Our town is coming alive with

the hollowing spirit today.

And if you're looking for something to do,

Sir Henry's Haunted Trail

is giving a daytime tour

of their hunt ahead of their

annual Pumpkin Man festival

this Saturday.

So be sure to stop by.

But with that being said,

we'll keep cranking out

the spooky tunes on WTCH,

because here in Cromwell,

it's always Halloween.

Oh, and by the way, stop

calling and requesting Thriller.

We're gonna play it.

It's Halloween.

This house pays homage

to historic Cromwell's

most famous legend, the Pumpkin Man.

They say he tormented the town

and k*lled eight people here.

Five.

What?

The Pumpkin Man k*lled five people.

This lady doesn't know

what she's talking about.

Hey, she's just trying to do her job.

And plus, I thought the Pumpkin Man

was just bullshit to you anyway.

That doesn't mean I

can't find it interesting.

Plus, if she's a tour guide,

I expect her to know

what she's talking about.

Does anybody have any questions?

Yes, you in the back?

All right, so why hasn't the Pumpkin Man

been summoned in like forever?

I don't know.

I'm not sure about that one.

Anyways, as we continue.

I do.

Cat, what are you doing?

I'm going to look for what I came for.

Are you gonna be perfect

little Miss Jenny Scott,

or are you gonna come help me?

Okay, fine.

I don't know why I let you

drag me into this sh*t.

Gross-ery.

Get it, 'cause it's supposed to be gross?

- Really?

- Yeah.

Haha.

I really need to shower now, Cat.

Thanks a lot.

You need to shower once a day anyways.

You might as well get a

little bit more dirty.

Okay, fine.

Where's this thing.

I'm not gonna tell you.

Wait.

Okay, Cat, seriously, where are we going?

Oh my God, Jenny, live a little!

You get straight As all the time.

Let's live once in your life.

Okay, fine.

Woo!

Woo!

Woo!

So scary.

Terrifying.

Are we almost done here?

Oh my God, you're so impatient.

Can't you just chill out?

Wait, I have stuff to do.

I have a quiz tomorrow!

Where's your sense of adventure!

Let's go!

I don't even know why

I'm your friend sometimes.

Okay, are we actually

looking for something,

or is this just an excuse

to get us into trouble?

Look, some of the props here

are actually historical artifacts

from Madame Olc's cottage.

So that means there

might be something here

that no one's ever seen,

or they just missed.

Like what?

Do you know the story

of the Pumpkin Man?

Only what eighth

grade history taught us.

Why?

Well, the Pumpkin Man is a demon.

And in order to summon

him, you need two things,

his name and a spell.

And it said that the

spell book was hidden away

a long time ago,

and there's a clue somewhere

as to where the spell book was hidden.

And you think that clue is here?

Really?

Cat, the pipes in here are fake.

Yeah, but the piano's real.

This is actually from Madame Olc's house.

Wait, wait, what was that?

I think it's a poem.

It looks like a piece

of it was ripped off.

Jenny, I think this might be a clue.

Really, you think this is real?

She's in here.

Come here, Cat.

Hi, detective.

You think they have any

m*rder weapons here?

Jesus, Quinn, you wanna

look at their dead bodies too?

This is a police station, not a morgue.

The sentiment remains the same.

What?

Jenny, what's wrong?

You need to stop

dragging me into your sh*t.

You just think I'm weird.

No, impulsive.

I just wish you'd think

about other people for once.

Breaking and entering,

trespassing on private property,

and disrupting one very

peaceful tour group.

You can go.

What?

I know the mastermind behind this.

Trust me, you're fine.

Really?

I can explain.

Please, I know the

explanation, Catherine.

I really thought I

had something this time.

- I bet you do.

- Tim, please.

I don't wanna hear it.

If you would just look.

Enough, Catherine.

One day I'm not gonna

be able to bail you out.

I've gotten a dozen calls

about these Pumpkin Man pranks,

and they all have one thing in common.

Look, kid, I love you, okay?

But I can't keep sticking

my neck out for you.

I understand you're

interested in this stuff,

and that's fine, but it's

gotta have its limits.

I don't wanna call our

parents saying you're in jail.

They've already given up on me.

You know that's not true.

I think it is.

Okay, outta curiosity though.

Old paper?

It's proof that the

Pumpkin Man grimoire is real.

10-year-old Tim would've been

really excited to see this.

Only 10-year-old Tim?

It's pretty cool!

Yeah, it's pretty cool.

Yeah.

Is your friend at

Stanford gonna look at it?

Yeah, I'm probably gonna

try to get it to him tonight.

It's best to get a second opinion.

Do me a favor, just

try not to break the law

trying to find it.

No promises.

I think I yelled at you enough.

Get outta here.

Are you gonna come to dinner on Sunday?

I'll try.

Don't try, just do it.

It'd mean a lot to them.

I'll be there.

Ah-booga-booga-booga.

You're gonna gonna have

to try harder than that.

Why do you ruin fun?

Hey, Cat.

You hungry?

Depends.

What are we having?

We're having your favorite, punky soup.

Uh, duh.

Also, you know that

evil dead looking house

at the end of the street?

I think I saw someone

in there staring at me.

Who is that?

Well, we don't really know.

They lived there since

the house was built,

but they keep to themselves.

We even made her a pumpkin pie,

and she didn't even come

out on the front porch.

But hey, more buy for us.

I think she's kinda

like the town mystery.

Okay, that's a mystery that

you do not need to meddle in.

Let her be.

And that is a command, young lady.

Don't worry.

I already found a route to

avoid that creepy bitch.

Catherine.

You know, it says here that the only way

for the Pumpkin Man to be free

is for him to k*ll the

ones that summoned them.

It's kinda like a sacrificial

offering or something.

It's very interesting, Michael.

Yeah.

I mean, did you know they

built Sir Henry's Haunted Trail

on the spot where the

witch k*lled herself?

They built a replica of the house there.

Everyone in Cromwell already knows this.

It's common knowledge.

Look, I'm just saying,

you should really give

this podcast a listen,

you know, since you love

haunted houses so much.

I'll listen to it right away.

Yeah, okay.

I'll do it, I'll do it, I'll do it.

Okay, you two, say cheese.

What?

You know I have to take

pictures for the school paper.

Michael!

- Oh.

- Hello, Michael!

- Hi, Cat.

- Hello!

- That's good.

- Yeah.

Jenny.

Oh, come on.

You're only excited to see Catherine.

Well, that's because he

knows who the fun one is.

Right, Michael?

- Right.

- Yeah.

- Ew, ew, ew.

- Gross.

Get a room, you two.

How about just get

out, and we'll have one.

Okay.

Listen, this is fun, but I

really gotta get to class.

- So, I'll see you later, Cat.

- Aw, lame!

- Bye.

- Well, so do we.

Cat?

- Tina?

- Let's go.

Come on.

Yeah, let's go.

Um, no.

You know I was never great.

You better not make me late.

I can't promise that.

You already know, Catherine.

You know I have to get to Yale.

- Good morning.

- Good morning.

I mean, come on, Cat.

It's 2020.

Just a reminder,

the school's organized

annual Pumpkin Man Festival

at Sir Henry's Haunted

Trail is this weekend.

I hope to see all of you there.

Boo!

Only one freak here gets excited for that.

Piss off, ass hat.

I seem to recall a

little seven-year-old Brit

that loved the festival.

Perks of being my age.

I remember all the things that you forgot.

On October 19th, 1781,

Washington delivered

the surrender document to Cornwallis.

Cornwallis signed and

surrendered sometime before noon.

On October 19th, 1781 at two p.m.

The British and the Hessian

defenders abort town.

Can you believe she said that?

No, isn't that crazy?

Amazing.

Yo, what's the rush?

Can't talk, research is afoot.

Well, that was weird.

She is weird.

What do you expect?

Whoa, whoa, whoa,

whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa.

If you're sneaking out to go see a boy,

you can march your ass

right back upstairs.

And if you're sneaking out to see a girl,

while I'm really proud, but

march your right back upstairs.

Mom, I told you, research.

I know, I know, research is afoot.

But unless you want a foot up your ass,

you better tell me where

you're going right now.

I'm going to go meet up

with perfect little role model.

Miss Jenny Scott.

What trouble could we possibly get into?

Um, actually, a lot.

A lot.

Can you at least be home by 11?

Yes, I will.

I love you!

Love you too.

See, weird.

Weird.

When you said you had something

to make up for last night,

I thought you meant like a

double date or something,

but this is just gross.

Ugh, and creepy.

So please tell me why did

you bring me out here?

Because I found it.

Gonna need to be a bit

more specific there, chief.

Look, do you want an

A in history or not?

Okay, I'm listening.

I found the Pumpkin Man grimoire.

Why wouldn't this be

Pumpkin Man related?

Look, seriously,

the page we found revealed

the location of the grimoire.

And what makes you think

that was a credible source?

So not doing thorough research I see.

Look, Madame Olc would

not have just k*lled herself

and not left any clue to where

she left the book behind.

What makes you figure that?

Someone left the book behind?

Well, if it was Madam Olc,

that defeated the purpose

of k*lling herself.

Regardless, this is the

closest anyone has been

in 150 years of finding the grimoire.

I mean, plus, if you brought

it to Ms. Leota's class,

I'm sure she'd give you

some extra credit points.

I mean.

You better be right about this.

I am.

Let's go!

Here?

In the laser tag, seriously?

Yeah.

Okay, Cat.

I really didn't think we'd be

wandering around for an hour.

It has to be here.

Cat, I am so sorry,

but I really don't think

we're gonna find anything!

And why not?

You never believe me when

it comes to stuff like this.

This is laser tag, Cat.

People have been here.

- People come here every day.

- It's not just laser tag!

This is a historical place.

There's more here than you know.

There's more here than anyone knows.

You have to believe me.

Just trust me this once.

Okay.

Then stop yelling at me!

There.

What is it?

Here, hold this.

Okay.

What makes you think the book's here?

The poem said something

about snarling root

and twisted vines.

And I mean, this is, it's

kind of a little obvious.

Okay, Sherlock.

What is it?

This is it!

Whoa, is that, is that real?

Kurbis.

Whoa, what was that?

- I don't know.

- Someone would've heard that.

- Yeah. Let's go.

- Okay.

- Run!

- Oh, sh*t, Cat.

Tina.

My love.

Oh.

Damn.

Yes, that's me, your love.

Do you guys have any plans tonight?

No.

No, I don't think so.

You guys wanna break some rules tonight?

What kind of rules are we talking?

We found something last night.

What?

We found the Pumpkin Man grimoire.

Wait, wait, you found it?

Yeah, and we wanna read the incantation.

Okay, are are you

sure that's a good idea?

What's the worst that can happen?

Uh, we summon an evil demon.

Yeah.

And I mean, if that doesn't happen,

at least Michael gets to spend some time

with his favorite person.

Are you sure about this?

You'll be fine.

Plus, does spending time with

me sound like a bad thing?

Yes.

You know what?

You can go f*ck yourself.

No.

No, it doesn't.

All right, come on.

Eight p.m.

Hank's pumpkin patch.

Don't be late!

- Yeah.

- Yeah.

Are you still breathing?

She kissed me.

So like, where's Jenny?

She's running a little late,

but she said we're good

to start without her.

Oh, what, is she too good to get k*lled?

Hey, I'm really glad that you're here.

Yeah.

What, miss out on time with you?

Never.

You know, I realize, that

was gonna hit your head.

Yeah, I know.

For the record, I did

not agree to third wheel.

I did not agree to third wheel.

Okay, okay.

I'm Tina

Hey, hey, hey, so what's the deal here?

Won't Hank see us?

Hank is old as sh*t and

has the vision of a worm.

Can't they not see?

Yes, Tina.

What a bright observation.

Wow, you're so smart.

All right, you, you, follow me.

- Okay.

- Follow me.

- This way.

- Okay.

All right.

All right, Michael, you are over here.

Here?

And you right there.

Nice.

Okay.

I guess Jenny was too

much of a p*ssy to join us.

Typical.

Are you sure you two

still wanna do this?

In days of Yore a celebration

roared throughout the land.

Sawin.

But still, the veil between life and death

is at its thinnest here

when reality starts to bend.

And on these days, creatures

and spirits from beyond

cross over to the land of the living.

Beware Lady Gwen.

Beware Puka.

Beware the Dullahan

and their mighty steed.

Beware the dark fairies and

their mischievous traps.

But most of all, beware the

Sluagh, come to steal your soul.

Among them is Kurbis, the demon of Fall.

And he's the one who scares most of all.

A howl marks his approach

as death draws in near.

Twisted are his ways,

and through your joy, he shall appear.

With your scent, he'll never stop.

He'll tear you flesh from bone.

But if so selfish, you wish to live,

give a friend's life for your own.

What the hell was that?

I don't know.

- Oh, f*ck!

- Oh, God!

Wooga-booga-booga!

So this was a joke to you two?

Chill out, Tina.

It's Halloween.

Oh, what the hell?

Oh, come on.

Come on, it was pretty funny.

Is that even a f*cking book?

Yeah, it is.

We summoned the Pumpkin Man.

Woo, she's so scary!

Hey!

You kids get off my property!

Oh my God, oh my God, oh my God.

sh*t!

I'll see you tomorrow!

Michael, Michael, Michael, wait.

Woo!

I'm gonna trip and fall over myself.

Wait, I just wanna, I wanted

to say thank you for coming.

- Yeah.

- I really appreciate it.

It's no problemo.

I'm gonna catch you at school.

Bye!

Bye, bye.

Damn kids.

Rufus!

Rufus!

Damn dog.

What good is he to have around,

he gonna let trespassers come in here?

What the hell?

Rufus?

Rufus?

You kids, get the hell outta there!

Don't make me call Sheriff Green!

That's it.

I'm gonna

Oh my God!

Oh Jesus!

This is ugly.

For this town, this is hell.

She was outta town last night.

Alibi's confirmed it.

She came home, saw the house was empty,

started looking for him.

What about the woods,

have you searched them?

All morning.

No footprints, no DNA.

We can't even find a body.

What?

Show you something.

Jesus!

The way it's blown off like that,

man, I have no idea what

could have done that.

Okay.

Look, why don't you go look

around, see if you see anything.

I'm gonna ask some questions, all right?

All right, let me know.

Tim!

What is it?

It's his head.

Oh!

Come on, it was funny.

The only thing funny about it

was getting chased off of Hank's property.

Do you think he called the cops?

Oh my God, I swear,

if this ruins my chances

of going to Yale or NYU, I

Relax, Jenny.

The cops would've been

knocking on our front door

last night.

Morning class.

- What's up?

- Morning.

Hey.

Just a reminder again,

the Pumpkin Man Festival is this Saturday.

And as an added bonus,

anyone who shows up in costume

will receive extra credit.

Yeah, that was a stretch.

Oh my God.

Hank's dead.

We're going to jail.

We didn't do anything wrong.

She's right.

Which she?

- You.

- Thanks.

Don't be so dramatic.

Oh, I'm being dramatic

because no matter which

way you look at it,

we did do something wrong.

Trespassing doesn't Tr*mp m*rder.

And if they find out we were there?

How?

He's too old for security cameras.

He didn't even see our faces.

Besides it's not like

he's around to rat us out.

Jesus, Tina.

What?

I'm just saying, there's no

way they can put us there.

What about footprints?

Jenny, seriously, it's a

pumpkin patch in October.

Do you know how many

footprints are around?

Tina's right.

There's no way they can track us.

So we keep quiet about it.

Agreed?

- Agreed.

- Agreed.

Okay, fine.

- Agreed.

- God.

No, no, f*ck no.

Oof, you look rough.

Hey, are you okay?

Did strange things happen

to you guys last night?

I mean, what kind of strange?

Like sh*t was moving around in my room.

What?

Like something or

someone was in my room.

Okay, how do you, how do you know that?

My closet kept opening

and shutting by itself,

and then I saw something in there.

Did you check it out?

Yeah.

Catherine, stop b*ating around the bush.

What the hell happened?

I saw him, okay?

Saw who?

You're gonna make fun of me.

You're gonna call me crazy.

We won't.

Kurbis.

Odd.

You know, f*ck you.

Okay, wait, hang on.

You, stop.

Is there anything else it could

have been other than Kurbis?

I don't know, I don't know.

Maybe I'm just freaked out

over the whole Hank thing.

Okay.

Yeah, that makes sense.

Look, it's gonna be all right, Cat.

All right?

Right, guys?

- Yeah.

- Yeah.

I mean, we've all kind of got our heads

on a swivel right now.

See, we're all a little

freaked out right now,

but hey, that's normal,

all things considered.

I think your mind was

just overthinking a bit.

We're getting

a call in right now from Thea.

Thea, what do you got for us?

Is it safe to take my kids out

trick or treating this year?

Listen, Thea,

I think everything is gonna be just fine.

This is a one-off kind of a thing.

How can you be so sure?

This is

Cromwell we're talking about.

Nothing is gonna dampen the

Halloween spirit around here.

If you take your kids out,

I can guarantee you, they'll be fine.

Are you sure?

I've seen pictures.

That was a gruesome scene.

Obviously I don't have all the details,

but it was frightening to say the least.

All right, I'm gonna have to

cut you off right there, Thea.

I'm sorry about that,

but that's all the time

we have here on WTCH.

But please, people, listen to me,

the city officials have already

given us the green light

to continue on with all the festivities.

You can rest assured that nothing

is gonna k*ll the Halloween

spirit in this town.

sh*t!

Are you

sure you're gonna be okay

- there by yourself?

- Yeah, Mom, I'm fine.

Oh, I hate that they bailed on you.

I guess no one's in

the Halloween spirit.

Still, I know it's your

favorite thing to do every year.

It's shitty that they bailed on you.

Trick or treat!

Yeah, there's a lot going on right now.

Well, I hope it doesn't

ruin it for you, Tina.

Hey, mom.

I'm ruining

it for you, aren't I?

Exponentially so.

I'm sorry.

I love you.

Love you too.

Okay, be safe.

These things are the

safest thing in the world.

Bye.

Trick or treat!

Toad and under cold stone.

Days and nights is 31.

Swanter venom, sleeping gut.

Boil well.

- Trick or treat.

- Trick or treat.

Trick or treat.

Hello?

Hey, you gotta keep moving.

Oh, this isn't part of the show?

Probably.

You still gotta keep moving.

Oh.

Hello?

What the f*ck?

Oh God.

This is gonna be good.

Help!

This isn't part of the f*cking show!

I wonder how they reset that

for the next group of people.

I don't know.

Ordering Uber Eats for the class, Cat?

Sorry.

No, I haven't heard

anything from her yet.

And around this time of year

people get really weird.

Yeah, I know, but this is

Tina we're talking about.

What are you getting at?

Well, all I mean is,

is it possible that she

stayed at a friend's house

last night and just didn't tell you,

or maybe she's playing hooky

and her phone just d*ed?

No, no, she would've called me.

And she loves school.

Even though her grades don't

show it, she loves school.

She wouldn't play hooky.

Can't we do an Amber alert or something?

Well, there's no evidence

that she was being abducted.

And according to your report,

she's only been gone for 18 hours,

and nowadays missing

people show up within 24.

Really?

Oh yeah, social media helps out a lot.

But if you can gimme the description

of what she was wearing,

I'll relay it to all

the patrolling officers,

and we'll keep an eye out, okay?

But for right now,

let's just refrain from

reporting her missing, okay?

Hey, Paul, do you mind taking

Ms. McMillan back there

and getting her something to drink,

and just finishing up her report?

I was actually about to clock out.

Thank you, Paul.

Come on.

Tim, I have to tell you something.

No, I've seen that face before,

and I don't have time for this.

But Tim, nobody's seen Tina.

I know Tina's mom was in here,

and she wants to file

a missing child report.

Good, I agree.

And when are you gonna

release the statement?

We're not.

Well, not yet anyways.

Why not?

Hank's death's got

people really freaked out,

and we have no leads on a perpetrator.

Perpetrator?

Tim, he k*lled someone.

Shh, I'm really trying to

choose my worst carefully.

But don't you want the people to know.

We're on it.

You can go home.

Tim.

You're gonna think I'm crazy,

but I think this was the Pumpkin Man.

Goddammit, Cat.

I knew it.

I knew you were gonna try to turn this

into one of your twisted horror fantasies.

Just listen to me.

We were at Hanks that night.

You what?

Me, Jenny, Michael and Tina.

Please tell me you're joking.

Yeah, we found the Pumpkin Man grimoire.

Wait, you found it?

Yeah.

Yeah, we read the book

at Hank's Pumpkin Patch.

But now Tina's missing, and Hank's dead,

and I'm seeing sh*t in my room.

You believe me, right?

Go home and don't tell

anyone about Hank's.

What was that about?

It was nothing.

Got it.

On tonight's terrifying tale,

you'll wish you never carved a

jack-o'-lantern in your life.

Well, we're going to share with

you the malicious intentions

behind every jack-o'-lantern's

friendly smile.

The thing about jack-o'-lanterns

is they are sentient,

always watching and always listening.

And sometimes they'll slowly creep doors

Just to mess with their prey.

Mom?

Now Michael

should probably ask himself,

did he just lock himself in here with me?

Mom?

Mom, Mom, help!

Michael cries

to his f*cking mommy

like a little baby,

but can't be man enough to

break down the damn door.

Well, and see how he heels

about doing this in the dark.

Michael screams and begs for his life,

but Kurbis can't help but

wonder if he tastes as good

as his shitty friend Tina.

Michael,

what the hell is going on in there?

Nothing.

Nothing.

What do you want?

He's coming for you.

Oh my God!

Oh my God, Tina, what happened to you!

It was always a game to you.

What?

You never thought about

the mess you left behind?

My God, Tina, I'm so, so sorry.

Run, run as fast as you can.

Better beware the Pumpkin Man.

You look like you've seen a ghost.

It happened again.

Wait, you mean you saw him?

Yeah, I was too scared to fall asleep,

so I left the lights on.

Literally it didn't help.

Okay, I haven't told anyone about this,

but I think the Pumpkin Man was

watching me the other night.

How?

You know that podcast

that I've been hooked on?

Yeah.

All right, well, I was

listening to it the other night,

and out of nowhere I

became the main character.

What do you mean?

The host would describe

something, right?

And then moments later, it would happen.

And he mentioned something about Tina.

He mentioned Tina in my dream too.

That means your joy is podcast

and mine is the Pumpkin Man.

What could he be haunting Tina with?

It could be a number of things.

And she didn't mention anything to you?

I don't think so.

Michael, think, think.

There has to be something.

Let me check my texts.

Oh my God.

She went to Sir Henry's

Haunted Trail that night.

I was supposed to go with her,

but decided I wasn't in the mood.

God, she loves a good haunted house.

What did he say about Tina?

I think we should tell Tim.

I tried.

He'd sooner call me crazy

than help with this.

Okay, then we are on our own with this.

Okay, there has to be something

here that can help us.

Ol' Kreepy's got security tonight.

I picked up these two things.

I don't know what they are,

but they're with me tonight,

so I'm gonna be out in public.

This is not gonna be good.

I've never really been in

public before, but I'm here.

It's really scary.

Everything's pretty.

Oh look, a cat!

Ow!

Ow!

Hey Tim, we're getting

multiple calls about.

Kreepy the Clown running around downtown.

I f*ckin' hate this time of year.

Just have Steven to deal with it.

Deal, I'll get him on it.

So is there any movement on Hank's case?

Some other things things actually.

Wouldn't call 'em leads though.

What would you call it?

What's with your

interest on Hank's case?

We had a man's arm

severed from his body.

This is Cromwell.

We deal with petty theft, drug

deals, the occasional DUI,

never, never anything like this.

We owe it to the people

of the town to solve this

no matter where the leads take us.

Do you know something that I don't?

I overheard you talking to Catherine.

I know she was there that night.

Look, Tina's still missing,

and there hasn't been any

movement on that either.

I bet your sister might know something.

She came in

'cause she wanted to start a

search party for her, okay?

Why would she do that if

she had anything to do

with the disappearance?

I don't know, Tim, but there's

only one way to find out.

You bring her in.

I already talked to her.

And?

She thinks the Pumpkin Man did it.

The folklore?

So she was at the scene of the crime,

she blames it on a children's ghost story,

and none of that seems suspicious to you.

You really thinks she has

something to do with this?

Look, if it was anyone else,

you would've brought 'em in

already and questioned them.

Like you're a good cop.

You got to where you are

because you're not afraid

to get your hands dirty no

matter where the leads take you.

f*ck!

Michael, Michael, Michael.

So concerned with unsolved murders,

not even once thinking that

maybe one day you'd become one.

Who are you?

Guess.

Where am I?

Maybe before asking where you are,

you should consider where you last were.

I was in the library

studying with Catherine.

This isn't real.

None of this is real.

Isn't it?

How can you be so sure, Michael?

What part of this doesn't feel real?

Tell me, is the fear real?

You're locked in here with me.

What do you want?

It doesn't matter what I want.

You read the incantation,

now you get to suffer the consequences.

It's not about me, Michael.

I'm here to talk about you.

What the hell does that mean?

Like I said, you read the incantation.

You know the consequences but

But what?

There's a way out, Michael.

Give a friend's life for your own.

You're smarter than you look.

And why are you telling me this?

What do you gain?

I'm not going to tell you.

Because you're weak.

I could snap your neck

easier than a toothpick,

and your little girlfriend

would watch your sleeping body

go lifeless and go limp on the floor.

Do not f*cking test me.

If you hurt her

Oh, please, you'll do what?

You haven't got the slightest idea

what's got you by the throat?

What's your offer?

Let me show you something.

What about her?

What?

That woman right there?

Why not offer her up in your place?

She doesn't deserve it.

We're just two strangers

in an empty library here.

She didn't come here looking to die,

and I'm not selfish enough to do that.

Pity.

Where did they go?

Poor Michael, can't save everyone.

I don't know, what did you do to them?

What I'm gonna do to

this whole f*cking town.

You said she didn't deserve it.

She didn't need to pay

for your must mistake.

Well, guess the f*ck what, Michael?

Pretty soon everyone will.

Hey, Michael, Michael, Michael, Michael.

Hey, Michael, are you okay?

He's getting in my head.

Did you dream about him again?

Yeah, yeah.

Hey, look.

Look at me, look at me.

He's not here.

We're just in the library.

He's not here.

It's just us.

Yeah.

Michael, come here.

Come here, come here, Michael.

Shh.

Sorry, I'm sorry.

Okay, look.

What am I looking at?

Does that look familiar?

Wait, that's the creepy

house in your street.

What the hell is it doing

on a Pumpkin Man forum.

Historians narrowed down the list

of Madame Olc's descendants to this house.

Damn.

Wouldn't she be like 150-years-old?

Maybe the house has been passed down

through the family tree.

What, you think it was her

great-great granddaughter?

Or wouldn't that be her

great-great-great granddaughter?

There's only one way to find out.

Happy Halloween Cromwell.

It's finally the night of spooky

folk wait all year round for in this town.

It's gonna take a lot more

than a m*rder and disappearance

to keep us down from our favorite holiday.

Just remember, WTCH will

be sharing your photos

on social media all night

long if you tag us in them.

So let's see how creepy you can get.

But maybe it's best if you stay home.

For all we know, the Pumpkin

Man has been summoned this year

and is waiting to take someone's soul

at Sir Henry's tonight.

I wonder who it will be.

Could this be more tacky?

Depends who you ask.

To the kids, this is

better than Disney World.

No, I mean the fact that

they have a Pumpkin Man night.

Why is that tacky?

I don't know.

It just feels like we're glorifying

a tragic event in our town's history.

Jen, she's been dead for 200 years.

I don't think some dead ass witch

cares about us celebrating this.

It just feels wrong.

Maybe what's wrong

is what you and Cat did

to Tina and Michael.

Okay, stop.

I got roped into that.

For the record. I did not want to do that.

And yet.

I cannot have any colleges finding out

about all the dumb sh*t

Cat has gotten me into.

Speaking of, did you find out about NYU?

Yeah, I didn't get in.

I'm sorry, Jen.

It's okay.

Well f*ck 'em.

You don't need 'em anyway.

Yeah, I guess.

Why don't you grab some

pictures inside the houses,

- and I'll get some interviews.

- Okay.

Wait.

What?

What about you?

I mean, you applied there too, right?

Why don't we talk about that later?

Son of a bitch.

Ah, it's the Pumpkin Man.

Oh, guess y'all are

committed to character.

You're here to take pictures

for the school paper, right?

Yes, I am.

Do you mind?

Oh yeah, of course.

See.

And.

Oh, looks like you've got a visitor.

What are you talking about?

The pumpkin.

What?

Just never mind.

Thanks!

What the hell was that?

Welcome, welcome to Blood Wedding.

Think you can survive the

horrors that are inside

this haunted mansion?

Well, I'll try my best.

I'm with the school paper.

Can you get a photo?

Oh yes.

Say cheese.

I'm a skeleton.

I'm always saying cheese.

Beautiful.

Good luck.

You're going to need it.

Ooh, geez.

Okay.

Pumpkin bitch!

Ew.

f*ck.

What the f*ck do you want?

Get off of me!

Help me!

Wait, wait, please!

I wanna live!

Brit, God, take Brit.

Sorry.

Do you mind?

Can I get through?

What the f*ck, can I get through?

Go away!

Open up.

We need to talk to you.

It's important.

Huh, I am sure you do,

but I can't help you.

It's Kurbis!

He's back.

Damn you.

Get in here.

We f*cked up.

Huh, that's one way of putting it.

Look, right now is not

the time to share judgment.

Right now we just need

to know how to k*ll it.

k*ll it?

You don't k*ll it, sweetheart.

Kurbis is a sacrificial demon.

He feeds on those who have summoned him.

You bind yourself to him with a contract,

and that price is your life.

Our friend Tina is dead!

So Tina was the one

that summoned the demon.

We were all there.

And where did you

perform this incantation.

- Hank's pumpkin patch.

- Yeah.

Hank, you say?

So I take it his soul

now belongs to the demon.

You probably saw it on

the news or some sh*t.

Do I look like I have a TV?

She has a point.

Kurbis feeds on those in his proximity.

His energy depends on those

that have summoned him.

If Hank was on the scene

during the incantation,

then he's part of it.

We k*lled Hank.

Michael, stop.

You know we found the page.

Who put it there, and

who left the book behind?

They branded her a witch.

Who?

The town.

Those people, they thought

they had it all figured out.

What happened?

She resented this f*cking town.

Who?

Madame Olc had a daughter.

The daughter.

That was your great-great

grandmother, wasn't she?

They branded Madam Olc the town witch,

and her daughter wanted them to burn.

Was she the one who buried the book?

Madam Olc hid the book away,

hoping that the world

would be safe from it,

but with a heart full of rage,

her daughter hid the location away so that

should anyone be stupid

enough to go searching for it,

Kurbis would rain hell

on an ungrateful town.

I'm so sorry.

It's all a joke to you kids.

You have no idea what you

have bound yourselves to.

And now you're fulfilling

my great-grandmother's wish.

The town will burn,

and then it is going to

spread outward like a disease.

You have to help us.

There is one way.

What?

- It has to be me.

- What?

No, none of this would be

happening if it wasn't for me.

So I have to do it.

Catherine, there's no way

I'm gonna let you do this.

It's my fault!

It's my fault.

I have to do it.

At least I'll get to keep you safe.

- Jenny's calling.

- Answer it.

Jenny, you have to listen to me.

- Kurbis is real.

- What?

Did you see him?

Yeah, he just att*cked

me, but I got away.

Wait, that means

Brit's dead!

I k*lled her.

Jenny, oh my god.

Mikey Mike is back

for some f*cking more, huh?

How many dead friends can he rack up?

Michael stands behind Catherine

while she's on the phone

both blissfully unaware

that I'm already here

and ready to take my

next soul with a twist.

There's a twist.

Which soul am I gonna take?

Catherine?

You have to turn yourself in, Jenny.

Guess you'll

find out soon, Mike.

Cat!

And tell them what?

They're never gonna believe me.

I'm gonna run, Cat.

I suggest you do the same.

I know you don't have the

stomach to do what I did.

So running's our only option.

Bye, Cat.

Wha?

f*ck!

- Catherine!

- What?

Michael move!

Mom, where's Cat?

Hey, Tim.

We weren't inspecting you until Sunday.

Where is Cat?

Why, is everything okay?

I don't have time for this right now.

I need to know where Cat is.

What has she done?

Look, I don't have time for this.

You can't just barge in like that.

You don't live here anymore.

I may not live here anymore,

but I knew you kept a

laptop in the dining room.

What do you need a laptop for?

To find Cat's location.

I don't have access anymore

since I switched my plan.

That's not necessary.

She said she's gonna be at the library.

No, she's not.

I was just there.

There was no sign of her.

Well, that's where she said she'd be.

Well, it wouldn't be the

first time she lied to you guys.

What's going on with Cat?

Should we be worried?

That's right around the corner.

She should be here any minute.

No, if she was walking or driving,

there'd be some kind of motion.

That's the lady's house

that didn't like my pies.

Why would she be there?

She hated that place.

I'll head over there.

Me and Cat need to talk anyways.

I need to borrow this.

Wait, just remember,

you're her big brother.

You're supposed to protect her.

It was nice to see you!

Did you hear something?

Police.

Is anyone here?

Put your hands up.

What happened?

Whose face is that?

Only one soul left.

You better start talking.

Kurbis is growing stronger.

There's only one person

standing in the way.

The girl.

If she dies by the demon's hand,

his strength will resonate

throughout our town like vines.

Catherine?

Yes, Catherine was her name.

You'd better hurry.

She's determined to end this.

Don't move, Cat.

Cat, I need you to tell me

what's going on right now, okay?

This is getting way too big for

me to turn the blind eye to.

They're all dead.

I know they are.

Catherine, I need you to be

honest with me right now.

Who k*lled them?

He did.

What the was that?

It's the Pumpkin Man, Tim.

Catherine, come on now.

Tim, we summoned him!

We summoned him.

His name is Kurbis,

and he k*lled everyone!

Michael, Tina, Brit, Hank, everyone!

Not Jenny?

She sacrificed Brit's life for her own.

Catherine, are we in danger here?

You're not.

Okay, I'm starting to believe you.

You are?

I saw what was left of Michael.

There's no way in hell

you could have done that.

They're all gone.

They're all gone.

It's all my fault.

Why did you come here?

I didn't know where else to go.

Hey, what the hell do

you think you're doing?

There's only one way this ends.

What the f*ck?

It's all the victims.

So that's why we haven't

found any of the bodies.

Catherine, what are we doing here?

I told you there's

only one way this ends.

Cat, no, I need you to stay back.

Tim, k*ll it!

Gonna hit you, come on!

f*ck!

- Come on, come on.

- Go, go!

Cat, run!

Hey!

You gotta k*ll me first, m*therf*cker!

Cat, no!

You know what you have to do.

No, no, I can't.

It's okay.

Okay, come on.

You okay, you okay.

No, no.

No.

No.

That book is too powerful

to remain in existence.

It's hurt too many people.

But if even one person

outside of those five

told someone about it, it may be too late.

It's destroyed.

How can you be so sure?

'Cause I f*cking b*rned it.

For her sake, I hope you're right.

For whose sake?

If anyone ever reads

from that book again,

he'll come after anyone who's

ever summoned him and escaped.

Oh my God.
