02x32 - Where The Gauchos Roam

Post by bunniefuu »

This is me-- eliza thornberry

Part of your average family.

I got a dad, a mom...

And a sister.

There is donnie-- we found him.

And darwin-- he found us.

Oh, yeah, about our house-- it moves

'Cause we travel all over the world.

You see, my dad hosts his nature show

And my mom sh**t it.

Okay, so we're not that average.

And between you and me, something amazing happened.

And now I can talk to animals.

It's really cool...

But totally secret.

And you know what?

Life's never been the same.

Oh!

Wow, I'm getting good.

Miguel is going to be so impressed.

Yes, very impressive.

Give me back my breakfast and no one gets hurt.

I can't believe I'm finally

Getting to meet my pen pal.

He can ride and rope and do all kinds of cool stuff.

So you've told me.

But can he do this?

(Chuckling )

Looking forward to seeing your old chum, dearest?

A little nervous, actually.

I haven't seen gabriella since high school.

Oh, we were like sisters.

Always joking and laughing, having fun

Getting into silly predicaments.

Joking, laughing, having fun?

Exactly which part is sisterly?

Well, i, for one, am looking forward

To meeting authentic gauchos

If any are to be found.

Nowadays, being a gaucho is more symbolic of a code

Of honor than anything.

Yet still, they wear those smashing pants.

Debbie, I wish you'd try and enjoy some

Of this beautiful scenery.

(Jabbering )

What's to enjoy?

This country is just one big lawn

In search of a mower.

Whoo-hoo!

Yee-ha!

Welcome, thornberrys.

I am antonio, foreman of the avila ranch.

We've been expecting you.

Pause, stop, rewind.

Argentina just got incredibly beautiful.

Mom, can't this thing go any faster?

Ah, marianne, oh, you're here at last!

Gabriella!

Oh, it's so good to see you.

Oh!

Welcome.

I'm ramon avila.

It is a pleasure to meet you, nigel.

Oh, the pleasure is mine, ramon.

Gauchos such as your staff are as close as I've ever been

To authentic cowboys.

Hey, miguel.

How's it going?

Is that darwin?

Cool.

(Jabbering )

You are interested in the cowboy life?

Well, I have been known to tip a stetson in my day.

Maybe we should invite our guests on the cattle drive.

Cattle drive?

The ranch hands need to move part of our herd

To a new grazing site.

It's a two day journey.

You mean, we could ride the plains

As the gauchos once did?

Oh, count me in.

Me, too!

It's settled then.

Miguel, you'll get to go on your first cattle drive.

You will rope and ride alongside your father.

I-i will?

What about you, debbie?

Oh, gabby, you know that's sweet

But debbie will want to ride in the commvee.

Mom, please!

You know how much I love horseback riding.

You do? Since when?

Oh.

This is way better than sitting around the ranch

And I can see you do all that

Cool gaucho stuff.

(Jabbering )

Quit showing off

Eliza.

Anyone can spin a little rope around.

(Sputtering )

(Chuckling )

This one must be broken.

So, are you going

To ride with me?

(Laughing )

Would that be no?

That would be no.

Here you go, miguel.

But, papa, where's carlitos?

Son, you have ridden your last burro.

Adjust your stirrups

While I go find a horse for eliza.

She's beautiful.

What's her name?

Blanca.

She's one of my father's favorites.

Very strong, very fast.

This is going

To be so cool.

I can't wait to ride...

A burro?

Yes, this is carlitos.

Thanks, but I can handle a real horse

Just like miguel can.

I like your spirit, eliza

But you must understand

Miguel grew up on horses

And is an experienced rider.

For now, I think you're better suited to carlitos.

Son, those stirrups are still much too long.

Let me help you.

Can you believe it, dar?

He wants me to ride a burro.

He wouldn't if he'd seen me

Ride elephants, giraffes or jaguars.

Refuse to be treated like a baby, eliza.

Ride in the commvee with me.

I'll make you cocoa.

Would that be no?

That would be no.

No offense, carlitos-- you're cute and all

But I was hoping for a real horse.

Hey, I know I'm small, but I'm fast and spunky...

And lower to the ground in case you fall off.

(Horses whinnying )

Usually I like guys who get me flowers

But horses are cool, too.

May I help you onto your horse?

You mean I have to ride this...?

I mean, no thanks.

I mean, I've been all over the world.

I can get on a horse by myself.

(Grunting )

(Yelling )

(Groans )

Let's ride, everyone.

Miguel, you're missing something.

This boleadora has been in my family for many years.

It is what

The original gauchos used.

Thank you, papa.

I will use it well.

Wow, you know how to use a boleadora?

Yeah, sure.

Nothing to it.

You pick it up, spin it and throw.

(Chuckling )

Smashing.

How many hours to the campsite?

We should make it in four.

We'll be there in three.

(Both laughing )

(Laughter continues )

I'd forgotten how determined you are, marianne.

Remember that time we went to football games

In two different towns?

Of course.

That's because you liked boys on both teams.

(Sighs )

Kyle cooper and willie amato.

(Both laughing )

(Cattle lowing )

Hey, miguel!

Let's gallop.

Stop!

What's the matter?

It's, uh, too soon to gallop.

The horses will get tired.

Miguel, look out!

Blanca's ears are back.

She must be mad.

I know how to ride.

Sorry, i-i didn't mean to insult you.

It just looks like

You're holding her reins too tight.

(Blowing )

She's okay now.

(Clicking tongue )

Walk, blanca.

(Nickers )

Hey, whoa!

They must want to run.

Ah! Whoo-hoo!

(Grunting )

Debbie, are you all right?

Huh?

Oh-oh, oh, yeah.

I was just, um, practicing...

My trick riding.

You know, like the circus.

Really? Excellent!

Later you must show me your tricks.

(Chuckles )

I'd love to.

Not!

Me and my big mouth.

Carlitos, what's up with miguel?

He looks really scared on that horse.

Of course he is.

We never go that fast.

Whoa! Blanca!

Miguel!

Pull on the reins!

(Groans )

(Whinnying )

She looked like she was going to buck you off.

What makes you think that?

I wasn't doing anything wrong.

Was i?

Let me check her bit.

Blanca, can you take it easy?

He's kind of new at this.

Give him a chance, please?

He'll get better, I promise.

(Jabbering )

(Loud grunt )

(Yelling )

Miguel: oh! Oh, no!

Whoa, blanca!

Miguel, there's a snake!

Use your boleadora.

Miguel, what happened?

It's my fault, mr. Avila.

I left my burro

And donnie grabbed blanca's tail

And there was a snake.

A good rider should keep his horse under control

At all times.

I will, papa.

Good. Blanca is one of my finest horses.

There is no reason for her

To act this way.

You know, you're used to riding carlitos.

You want to trade for a while?

No! My father would not allow it.

You'll be fine, miguel.

You and blanca just need to become friends...

Like we did, remember?

It took a couple of letters

To break the ice.

(Grunting )

I cannot wait

To see your trick riding, debbie.

Huh?

Oh, yeah, well, uh... It's no big deal.

I just...

...except, you know, on a horse.

This is magnificent.

I will find a fresh horse

For you to do that trick for me.

(Groans in disgust )

(Cattle lowing )

Mom!

Up here, dear.

(Angry moo )

Oh! I can see the whole plains

And this light is perfect.

Ah! Look at you!

A famous filmmaker, a mother...

Oh! The only thing that hasn't changed

Is you still drive like you're late for curfew.

Oh, well, you've come a long way

Mrs. "I run a ranch and still raise a family."

And not everything's changed.

I'll bet we can still...

Finish each other's sentences?

(Both laughing )

And I'm sure we still know how to...

Act like -year-olds?

(Both laughing )

Ah! Enjoying the cattle drive, honey?

Those cows smell

I'm sore in places that I didn't even know I had

And I told antonio I'd show him my trick-riding skills

Which are nonexistent.

Ooh, that reminds me of the time

Gabby said she'd cook an authentic argentine dinner

In home ec class

And she couldn't even boil water.

Remember?

(Both laughing )

Her elvis impersonation was priceless!

Wait! This ismy mother you're talking about?

(As elvis ): thank you very much.

(Laughing )

(Laughing )

O-kay.

Maybe icould learn a trick or two

On that dumb horse.

Ahhhhh!

Oh, the glorious life of a cowboy--

Drinking strong coffee

And sleeping on nothing but the solid earth.

Ow! Right.

Better get my fluffy pillows from the commvee.

(Mooing )

Listen, I have a favor to ask.

I'm trying to help a friend

So, when the rest of the herd moves away

Can you stay behind?

But I'm supposed to follow the group.

I'll make sure you catch up with them.

If you stay behind, you'll have more time to drink.

Well, iam still thirsty.

Hey, miguel, you can rope, right?

Well, not really.

I... I mean, of course.

I work on it every day.

That's good, 'cause you never know

When it will come in handy.

Come on!

We are missing one of the calves.

It's probably still at the river.

Someone will have to go back and get it.

Why don't you go?

Me? Shouldn't someone more experienced go?

It's just a calf.

How much trouble could she be?

Mr. Avila, we'll go back for the calf.

Yes, papa, I'll go.

That would be a great help, my son.

Antonio, bring the rest of the herd up front.

Miguel, we will meet you at the grazing site.

And, nigel?

Yes, old chap?

Are you ready to ride?

Was annie ready to get her g*n?

Hang on, donnie, old buckaroo!

Yippee-ay-yay!

Great idea, huh?

You get to rope and show your stuff.

Yeah. Great idea.

What a terrible idea.

It's one thing to rope a post.

A real cow is too hard.

That's okay. Keep trying.

(Mooing )

The calf is getting away!

Oh, no! That calf was supposed to stand there

And let miguel rope it.

You actually thought a cow was smart enough to do that?

I got to help miguel.

Easy, girl.

Steady.

That's it, miguel.

She can't get away now.

Come on, come on!

(Growling )

(Roaring )

Miguel!

Hyah!

Hyah! Hyah!

(Roaring )

Hyah! Hyah!

Miguel, are you all right?

You roped the calf.

You saved her life.

You're a better gaucho than I am

And you don't even live here.

Aw, come on, I just got lucky.

Let's get out of here

Before that puma comes back.

Blanca's gone!

She ran off.

She'll catch up to the herd, won't she?

I don't know.

She's my father's best horse.

Don't worry. We'll find her.

How? The pampas are huge

And she's scared.

I can't believe I let her get away.

Trust me. We'll find blanca

And your father will never know.

Come on.

It shouldn't take this long to rope a calf.

I hope they're not lost.

(Thunder rumbling )

Debbie...

I have something for you.

Really? For me?

Antonio, you shouldn't have.

I love flow...

A piece of rope?

I braided the leather myself.

It is for your trick riding.

Uh, excuse me one minute.

Don't go away.

Mom...

(Gasps )

Is that my pore-defining mask?

No, it's our own special recipe.

We made this up in high school.

Want some?

Are you going to come out of this time warp anytime soon

Because I need some motherly advice!

You know, the kind you get from someone

Who acts like your mother?

Whoa, oh, I'm sorry, honey.

What's the problem?

Well, I kind of lied to antonio.

I told him I could do tricks on the horse and now...

Horseback riding hasn't been the same for me

Since you and I went riding and ended up...

(Laughs )

In mr. Naki's backyard.

(Laughs )

The horses accidentally knocked over...

The beehive!

(Laughs )

Right. And we were rescued by...

Both: those handsome firemen!

(Both sigh )

(Laughing )

(Snorting )

Woo! I snorted!

Let's see...

What would my mom say if she weren't again?

I know. She would tell me to tell the truth.

She's always telling me to do stuff like that.

Thanks, mom.

That's exactly what I'm going to do.

(Slurping )

Green isso not your color.

Antonio, I need to tell you the truth about something.

It's going to storm.

We need to make sure the cattle don't run.

I'm not really a trick rider

And I just said that because I think you're cute.

Antonio, secure the herd.

I'm going to find my son.

I'm going with you.

Eliza's out there.

And by the way...

I think you're cute, too.

Wow.

(Thunder booms )

(Horse neighs )

My horse. I must get to her.

Miguel, look out!

Miguel, get out of there. It's too dangerous.

I'm scared.

So am i, but your family needs you.

Your horse needs you.

(Neighing )

Easy, girl.

(Clicks tongue )

(Thunder cracks )

(Moos )

(Thunder cracks )

(Neighing )

Whoa!

(Screams )

(Gasps )

Eliza! Miguel!

Oh, look at them.

Did you ever predict we'd have such wonderful families?

Nope. The only thing I predicted

Is that we'd always be friends.

We'd better get down there before the food's gone.

I know a shortcut.

(Laughs )

Miguel, come join me.

Gabriella, you, too, please.

Today, our son saved one of our dear friends

And he helped protect our herd.

These are the skills of the old-time gaucho.

(Cheers )

Bravo!

Thank you.

But eliza helped me, too.

(Cheering )

Thanks.

Oh, and thanks for saving me.

What are friends for?

Would anyone like to do me the honor

Of playing a traditional gaucho song?

* Tanto de perdonarte *

* Me esta montando el dolor *

* Y aunque me rostro sonria *

* Estoy murriendo de amor *

* Estoy murriendo de amor *

* Llora, llora corazon *

* Dime siquieres volver *

* Que no es derelicto el hombre *

* Llorar por una mujer *

* Llorar por una mujer *

* Llorar *

* Por una *

* Mujer. *

Thank you very much.
