Whoo-hoo!

[engine chugging slows]

When I was in Brazil,

I met a big, blue express engine

who reminded me of someone.

But who?

[giggles]

[whistle toots]

All aboard

for a big adventure!

"The Other Big Engine."Olá,

Thomas.

How's it going?

I want to know everything.

Very good.

Thank you, Gabriela.

-[train horn blows]

-Expresso passando!

[gasps]

Oh.

Who is that?

-[whistle toots]

-[birds chirping]

Huh?

[gasps]

Olá.

[chuckles]

-Olá.

-I'm Thomas.

My name's Gustavo.

How do you like it

on the Brazilian railway?

Oh. [chuckles]

I love it here, Gustavo.

It's such a good railway.

Yes, Thomas.

We have a saying here...

[speaking Brazilian Portuguese]

It means, "Brazil is the land

of the future."

It's a saying that means a

great deal to we engines here...

[Thomas]

As Gustavo spoke,I thought about how much hereminded me of another engine. But who?

See you later,

little engine!

[train horn blows]

Hmm...

-[whistle toots]

-[exhales sharply]

[bird chirps]

Who does he remind me of?

Edward, Henry, Toby?

Definitely not.

Ooh, the Flying Scotsman.

No.

Thomas, look out!

Whoa!

Ay!

Oh,

indignidade!

[gasps]

Ooh, sorry, Gustavo.

Wait.

What did he say?

"Oh,

indignidade."

It means,

"Oh, the indignity."

"Oh, the indignity"?

[gasps]

Gordon!

Gustavo is just like Gordon.

-[clanking]

-[whistle toots]

I can't believe I've traveled

halfway around the world

to meet another engine

just like Gordon!

How many Gordons are there?

I am a very important engine.

Muito importante.

Two Gordons?

[both] Two.

[all] Why not four?

Quatro.

[laughter]

[all]

Or even eight.

Oito.

-[laughter]

-[gasps]

[both]

What a silly little engine.

Whoa!

Aah! Oh!

-[train horn blows]

-Aah!

Olá,

little engine.

Oh. Hello, Gustavo.

Or should I say Gordon?

[chuckles]

Sorry. What?

Nothing.

Oh, okay.

Well, this is where

we part ways, my friend.

A little engine like you

can't take the express line.

[train horn blows]

Who does he think he is,

calling me "little"?

He can't tell me

what to do.

It's bad enough being told

what to do by one Gordon.

I'll show

that bossy, blue engine.

If I want to take

the express line, I'll take it.

Whoa!

The express linewas fast and smooth. And I sawbeautiful landscapes, unlike any I'd seen before.I'm so gladI took the express line.Until...

[bubbling]

[chugging]

Oh, no!

I'm running low

on coal and water.

There must be a coal hopper

around here somewhere.

Oh, where's the coal?

Where's the water?

[sighs]

So much for

"the land of the future."

[chuckles] I can't see

much future at this point.

-[train horn blows]

-[gasps]

Oh, no!

I'm stuck!

What am I gonna do?

-[whistle grinds]

-Oh!

I can't blow my whistle!

-Aah!

-[train horn blows]

Oh, no! I'm gonna get squished

like one of those mangoes!

Thomas?

[yelling]

[wheels grinding]

Thomas, you silly

little engine.

It's not my fault.

I didn't mean to...

I mean, what kind of railway

has no coal hopper

and no water tower?

An electric railway.

Oh.

Why on earth did you take

the express line

after I told you not to?

Because...

I don't like being bossed

around by big, blue engines.

Oh, Thomas, I wasn't trying

to boss you around.

I was helping you.

Yes, I can see that now.

You must think

that I'm a really silly engine.

Not at all.

I like you.

You've got fire.

That would be

my coal burning.

Ooh, if I had any.

[laughs]

Thomas, you make me laugh.

Here, let me help you.

When we first met,

you reminded me

of another engine called Gordon.

He and I...

Well, we don't always get along.

But, actually,

you're quite different.

I'm sorry, Gustavo.

[chuckles]

No problem, little engine.

Fiery, funny little engine.

Gustavo, can we start again?

Like,

"Olá,

my name's Thomas.

Nice to meet you, Gustavo."

[laughs]

Olá,

Thomas.

Nice to meet you, too.

Now, why don't you tell me

all about this other engine,

um, Gordano.

You mean Gordon.

[giggles]

Okay.

Well, um...

One time when Gordon specially

streamlined for a race...

[continues indistinctly]

[whistle toots]

Have you ever met someone

and decided

you didn't like them

before even getting

to know them?

When I first met Terence,I was mean to himand told himhis wheels were ugly. But he still came to my rescuewhen I got stuck in the snow. And it turned outhis special wheelswere really useful. And when I first met Gustavo,I thoughthe was bossing me aboutjust like Gordon, when he was really justgiving me friendly advice. Before you judge someone new, give yourself a chance to getto know them a little better.-They might even becomea good friend.

-[whistle blows]

Come on, Thomas!

It's time to go.

See you next time!
